Questions You Ponder in the Middle of the Night
:deepthoughts:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last night I was pondering why many gas stations still have the
term 'Self Serve' next to their per gallon pricing...when they
did away with 'Full Serve' long ago.
:eyebrow:
I can't remember when the last time I pulled into a station where someone
pumps my gas n washes my windows for a few extra cents per gallon.
There are full service stations here in Nashville in the expensive areas of town.
I can't afford them though.
Last night I thought about....
Who gets to say what is right and wrong?
Is right and wrong different in different cultures?
Is what is right and wrong in the "Universal Truths which are self evident" category, and if so, what are these Universal Truths? (Outside the US Constitution)
Is there a right and wrong?
How much of what we see as right and wrong is religion based?
No, I did not sleep well last night! :sigh:
sometimes i ponder historical events...like i wonder what it wouldve been like to be on the battlefield with Boudicca while she routed the Romans...
or jsut how badly Penthesilea kicked the shit out of Hercules to get that belt lol
There are many times and points in history that i wish i could have seen or been at...
but sometimes my thoughts dont go that deep and its feelings that i ponder...
I ponder not about growing old
I ponder now about growing frailer
I ponder about growing frailer
and then I ponder if love would ever call upon me as I grow frailer
I wonder not about being alone
for this I dont fear
instead I ponder about loneliness
and hope I never feel it
it is suggested with this spinal thing I have, to not consume any milk products. Hmm..so thats why I am lactose intolerant....
This tidbit and many more were roaming in my mind late last night/early this morning, as I was processing all the information given to me and comparing it to my base of information I have about myself and coming up with new ways of understanding why my body has been doing everything it has been doing...
and what it is going to be capable of again...
that incurable isnt the same thing as untreatable
and that its not going to be disfiguring (thank heavens...I was so worried about that)
and that with limitations, different ones, not the ones I have been having, my life is actually going to be expanded in some ways I didnt have before...
and whispering prayers of gratitude, and some for solace and comfort, and some for suprised anticipations and others for relief of fear....
yeah, that about sums up my night/morning last night....
Dark circles under the eyes
Is it lack of sleep or allergies
And
Which one causes darker circles to appear
And
How long will it take them to go away
Will they still be here come August
Will I ever sleep solid again
And
Will I sniffle forever
And
Don't you just hate waking up because of potty breaks,
I think about how blessed I am ...I try to find gratitude in everyday for things big and small. I think about the people in my life ...how special they are or how much they mean to me. I wander my way through conversations from the day or happenings. I pray for people (friends, loved ones acquaintances strangers).
Some of the best writing happens in the middle of the night...when my thoughts are free and unrestricted...I often get up to walk or run in the middle of the night then come home and write...
I will be thinking about this thread tonight ....wonder what interesting thoughts that will bring...hmmm....
So, I'm down to the the last drops of hair conditioner and am praying that I can squeeze out enough for my hair. (it's long) Lo and behold, I get less than a quarter, but more than a nickel and voila... just enough to get through all of my hair! I'm happy.
Now, tell me why when I get that new bottle of conditioner, I will put a quarter size amount in my hair and it isn't enough???? It ends up being a close to the size of a lime by the time I'm done! WTH??
Is Karma being good to me or is Karma paying me back? (ie. do I have it good even though I have struggles or is Karma paying me back for some past life transgressions? If it's the first choice, then I should be more grateful for having it good even in the face of struggles.)
Why am I insignificant to those that are closest to me? My family by blood and that was chosen?
Why do those that are only here for a time seem to care so much more than those that have known me for most of my life?
Why am I so painfully shy at times but loud and playful at others?
Will I ever gain trust back in my heart? Will I ever find the right one I should trust?
Why is it that half of my grown family choose to live alone day in and out just working going home and watching TV or sleeping, while the other half can't seem to sit still for a moment? We were all raised together so what makes the difference? I know the quite shy ones do not want to be so reserved or shy, so how do you learn to fight that?
Why am I be silly and so in the moment having a great time, then in an instant I will have a moment of self awareness and close off?
Will I ever have a decent job again?
What great things did i do that warrant my blessed luck with happy funny healthy animals when they come into my life?
For all the things that so happen in my life i wounder how i happen to be as strong as i am and really have good luck when i would get pulled in to the undertow with out it?
and my favorite what miracle did i pull off to deserve such an intelligent earnest thoughtful independent funny forward thinking step son that chooses to remain in my life even after his mother and i have ended our commitment to each other?
How is it this brilliant boy looks like me and acts like me more than his mother? and is it awful of me to take pride in that?
Who killed Andy?
What happened to the girlfriend?
And whose sister is singing? Was she involved in any way??
Incidentally, this is one of the only songs I will sing karaoke style.
A young woman tells the story of her unnamed older brother who returns home after a two-week trip from a place called "Candletop." The brother meets his best friend, Andy Wolloe, at Webb's Bar ("Andy Wolloe said hello, and he said, 'Hi, what's doing, Wo?'"), and Andy informs the brother that his young wife (who is later described as "cheatin'") has been seeing another man in town, Seth Amos. Andy then reveals that he, too, has been sleeping with his friend's wife. The brother is understandably upset, which scares Andy, who leaves and walks home. The brother assumes his wife has left town, gets his gun, and heads out to the back woods to sneak up on Andy and confront him. When the brother arrives at Andy's house, he finds tracks outside ("tracks that were too small for Andy to make") and discovers that someone has already killed Andy. The brother, in a moment of panic ("he started to shake"), fires his gun in the air to summon a passing sheriff. When the sheriff approaches the scene, the brother is immediately accused of murder. A "backwoods Southern lawyer" doesn't keep the sheriff and a judge from convicting the brother in a kangaroo court ("the judge said 'guilty' in a make-believe trial / slapped the sheriff on the back with a smile"), and hang him that same night, effectively lynching him. This was apparently the same night of a statewide electrical blackout, although the phrase "the night the lights went out in Georgia" could refer to the fact that the "light" of justice went out that night as an innocent man was killed by the law.
In the final verse, the singer then reveals that she was the one who killed Andy and that she had also previously killed her promiscuous sister-in-law and disposed of her body ("one body that'll never be found"), and that her brother was lynched before there was a chance to tell anyone the truth.
Beyond simply the typical police corruption, the song relates that the judge is just as corrupt as the sheriff ("...the judge in the town's got bloodstains on his hands"), as well as heartless, when rendering the guilty verdict: slapped the sheriff on the back with a smile, said "Supper's waiting at home and I gotta get to it" (The 1991 music video for the Reba McEntire version suggests that the judge was also sleeping with the wife and wouldn't listen to the truth to protect himself).
There is an interesting character. Perhaps you have heard of him. His name is Coyote. Some say he is a Trickster, some will not even say his name. Some look over their shoulders wondering if someone is playing a cruel trick on them.
He is a sneaky one. But smart he is. He is low to the ground, with a neck that can stretch. He has the ability to see the path right at his feet and what stretches far beyond the end of his nose. His nose also helps, but that is not part of this story. What people don't know is that Coyote is friends with the mouse. Yup, I kid you not. Someday maybe he will tell you why, but for now....
Everyone has paths, many paths... many choices. Sometimes Coyote likes to send you on a path... who knows really why. To get your attention, he steals a shoe. Awakening in the morning, standing in the hallway, wondering.. WTF... I know I kicked them off here last night.
Later dreaming. Some how some way seeking your shoe. Seeking your path.
Don't worry about whose shoe is on the road. Nope. Just worry if one of yours is missing. Who knows what path you will follow then....
I finally got the invitations to Amy’s Graduation party in the mail today…she was supposed to do it 2 days ago, but I found them tucked under the papers and envelopes from our addressing session. I guess she either couldn’t see them, or she forgot. In other news….what child washed Kasey’s Saab with a scrub pad and is costing me a paint job? Ding, ding, ding. Holy Mary Mother of God!!! Kasey gave her a nice soft towel to use, and she went in the house while Kasey went back to work and got a scrub pad to get the bird poop off the car.
Of course it was my idea for Amy to wash the car as she was having a day at home and needs to keep busy. Bad Cindy, bad bad Cindy. Sometimes I forget that most kids don’t have the sense God gave a turnip….but such an expensive lesson? Jeez!
Oh and that reminds me.......why is it my youngest Uncle hasn't called since my Mom passed away? Until......he heard from my other Uncle (the executor of my Mom's estate) just how MUCH money I inherited both from my Mom and Grandma. Funny how he wants to show some love and caring now! Asshat.
If the early bird catches the worm, why do good things come to those who wait?
Last night:
How come I have to carry separate cards from the grocery stores and the pharmacies and the pet store and even the hair salon? Why, by now, is there not one card (or friggin' ankle bracelet or whatever) that can be programmed for all? I mean, seriously. I can go to Google and get a panoramic shot of your house with your car in the driveway, but they can't beef up magnetic strips??
How to tell you this... Your one worm will not be able to make six worms all by its lonesome. (No, not even if you chopped it up; I think that's a myth.) I am sorry. There, there.
No chopping of the precious worm please.
Worms contain both male and female sexual organs.....they reproduce by sexual reproduction. They are not asexual.
They get underneath their own skin, so to speak.....release the sperm, and the egg. One little worm can generate 6 baby worms each month, all by it's self.:canoworms:couldn't resist using the cheesy can!
You made that up!! << tapu's hair stands on end. more. >>
Whoa. I just googled how earthworms reproduce. :|
We are both right!! It takes two worms, but both of them have both types of sex organs. (No word on what pronouns they prefer.)
Really, enough said. I don't recommend learning about this.
the sight of you beside me
has i glance your way
has me floating on air
and brightens my day
the scent of your flesh
has you move closer to me
makes my heart stutter
and sets my desire free
the touch of your hand
has it caresses my skin
makes my spirit burn brighter
and brings me alive from within
the taste of your lips
has they touch mine
is the best aphrodisiac
throughout all of time
the sound of your voice
has you whisper please
crumbles my defenses
and brings me to my knees
my sould reaches outward
and meets yours halfway
heart mind and soul together
forever and a day
Sick Senior Citizen
So you're a sick senior citizen and the government says there is no nursing home available for you, what do you do?
Our plan gives anyone 65 years or older a gun and 4 bullets. You are allowed to shoot four Congressmen.
Of course, this means you will be sent to prison where you will get three meals a day, a roof over your head, central heating, air conditioning and all the health care you need! Need new teeth? No problem. Need glasses? That's great. Need a new hip, knees, kidney, lungs or heart? They're all covered. And, as an added bonus, your kids can come and visit you as often as they do now.
And who will be paying for all of this? It's the same government that just told you that you they cannot afford for you to go into a home.
Plus, because you are a prisoner, you don't have to pay any income taxes anymore.
Is this a great country or what?
From what I hear - what they actually do is end up sick enough to go to the ICU ward of a hospital - where the hospital can't send them anywhere else (due to whatever issue... no insurance, no availability etc) and thus they have to keep them there - taking up a bed in ICU - because of course they can't just kick them out. Thus said individual stays in the ICU for an undetermined time costing the taxpayers probably triple or more for their care than they would have if medicare had just paid for a nursing home in the first place.. (not that I know a bunch of ICU nurses and have to hear about this exact problem all the time lol [in atlanta.. your location may vary])
Why do they always schedule an All Staff meeting on the first Tuesday of every month and so early in the morning when most of us have so far to drive? Also, will THIS All Staff FINALLY have anything actually IMPORTANT and worth while? Or are they gonna blow a bunch of hot air again with more worthless crap that makes us spin our wheels (going nowhere) for the next 6 months again? Why can't they do something different for a change? Why can't they actually be productive for a change?
