View Full Version : a little glass of WHINE!

Hey everybody....
In my normal, everyday life I'm a pretty competent, mellow, "go with the flow" kind of a girl. I don't generally sweat the small stuff....or even the medium sized stuff. I can see the humor in most anything...and usually just go get the job done without too much fuss.
But sometimes... it just all gets a little too overwhelming...and frankly, I just wanna' have a good whine.
Don't want advice; don't want anyone to solve my problem; just want to whine it all out and have my friends say "wow...that really DOES suck!"
If you ever feel that way...here's a space for it. No advice please...although sympathy and co-whining is always appreciated. :giggle:
Sooooo....to start things out today....here's my whine:
I've been trying to sell my house for a couple months now so that I can get moved down to Florida with my sweetie. It's a cute house, in a good school district, but yes...it's old, it's not perfect, and it's on a busy street.
Here's the deal. I've been cleaning my house to showroom "here come the photographers" kind of perfection over and over and over and over...for idiots who come, look around for 5 minutes and then say "the house is so cute but I just don't know about the street." Well DUH...could you not SEE the street? Is it not there? Did you not just drive in ON it??? If you wouldn't be willing to consider a house in this location then why the heck are you wasting my time and energy?
Here's the other part...I work from home and I have two barky, overly enthusiastic dogs. So...when they want to show the house I not only have to clean, I have to pack up the dogs, leave my work and get out. For a couple of hours. So they can look for 5 freakin' minutes and then be indecisive because of the street...which they should have figured out by now...right?
So...this weekend, I talked to the realtor...basically had that do or die conversation...you sell it or I'm gonna rent it out and leave anyway. He tells me he has a great prospect and will show it to her Tuesday or Wednesday. Doesn't know when, but he'll call. Well...it's Tuesday and he hasn't called. I still need to clean..but with a kid, 2 dogs and 4 cats it doesn't stay perfect for more than about 10 seconds...so I don't want to clean too early if she's coming Wednesday or I'll just have to do it again.
Did I mention that I'm diabetic, get fatigued, and on meds that give me abnormally low blood pressure...so I can literally get to the passing out point if I do too much all at once? Yea, that too.
Sooooo.... I mowed and weeded for hours on Saturday so the yard looks nice. I've got the basic cleaning done but need to know when to do the "perfection" part. No call from him. I call. He left his cell phone at home and his wife has no clue but "he'll call you Jo." Uh huh. Right. And give me 20 freakin minutes notice to do 2 hours of work so I can race around, make myself sick, lose time from work and all for a 5 minute showing....and "gee I wish it wasn't on this street."
Bite me. Seriously.
That is all.
Thanks for listening. :rrose:

That was a Grade-A, Numero Uno, Quality Whine, girl!!!
I don't have a Whine of the Day as yet. However, I am sure that is subject to change by the time I get home from work tonight :)

I think I need to get into the next Whining 101 class. That was fantastic, Jo.
I'm just irked at the continuing issue of my housemate not fixing her computer and internet service so I can get a friend of mine out here to fix MY computer, thus eliminating the constant "Are you using the laptop now?"..."When are you going to be done with the laptop?"..."I wanted to use the laptop!"..."Dude who lives in the room that the laptop is kept in, please vacant your own personal space so that the rest of us can use the laptop!"
I have dreams of the days when the wireless was properly set up and no one had to kick another out of the modem room to use it. I also vaguely remember when my computer was up and running of its own accord.
*le sigh*

You go Gemme! :whine:
I think you did pretty darn good! Sounds like a fully justified, oh-that-just-sucks kind of a whine to me. :)
And thank you Mrs. Strutt...I do try :cheesy: Feel free to come back if you have a whine-worthy day!
I had a good chuckle at Jo's whining. I swear real estate people havent a clue.
When I was looking for a place, I was very clear on what I wanted. And I was very clear that I did not want to deal with the noise of children. Airplane noise was preferable to screaming kids.
Well, this dink used to schedule showings for me, and as I drove down streets fills with big kids and little kids, and fetus kids, I could feel my blood presure growing into the stroke range.
I finally, took matters into my own hands and found a place smack in the middle of a very busy street. Traffic noise, accidents aside, is background noise to me. And no one sends their kids down this way to play cuz it is not safe for them. Kobi very happy.
Just pissed me off that the realtor got a commision on a place I found myself.

Oh I love this thread...finely a Whine I can have as a recovering alcoholic!!!

Not an official 'whine' per se...well, maybe more of a dilemma/concern. Remember that old axiom "Careful what you wish for?" Well, I think I'm there now.
Here's the deal...I recently purchased a very high-end super expensive sewing/embroidery machine that retails for 8K - yes, you heard me right, 8K - tho that's not what I paid, but still paid mega-bucks! Now, here's the problem...I want to go away for a week or two, but am paranoid that someone might break into the house and steal it - oy vey!!! So, in a sense, it's like being a prisoner in my own home, or like being shackled to the machine...taking it with me is not an option - way too big, and who the hell wants to do that anyway???!!!
So I called my insurance company today to find out about it. They're calling me back tomorrow or Thursday to let me know what my options are. But I'm betting that they're going to tell me that my premium will go up if I want my insurance to cover the machine, ugh!! Ok, so that's my whine or groan, if you will....guess by comparison to other's whines, mine isn't all that important, but it is to me...what to do? Guess I'll know after I speak to the insurance people. Gad, you're damned if you do, and you're damned if you don't!!

I had my place for sale for a while. Tired and dreamed of a small cottage all paid for. Got tired of lookie loo's wanting to see and dream of having a farm.
"why is that rooster attacking that hen?"
"How do you grow beans?'
Kids running around. Family dog chasing my hens and cat.
The only way I'd show it today is if they had cash in hand, pre-approval and met my price.
Of course I don't really care and not heading anywhere so I can't even imagine your frustration.
you could clean it, stage it and just go to florida and let them show and show. If they don't sell it in 6 months rent it. Just do it. just go and save yourself all the trouble. Just go and let the Realtor show it or rent it.

not to damper anyone's dreams, but if I were going to move for someone again, I would put my house up for rent rather than sell it just so I had a place to come back to in case it didnt work. After a 8 month period (thats the time frame that I need to get through in order to know if this relationship is long lasting or on a bad slide downward) I would then put it up for sale but....
I am not going to move again for anyone and do have the small cottage all paid for...
oh wait..thats not a whine..
hows this.....
I lost my wishnik coloring book as a child....bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbooooooooo

I got nothing
Not a whine or even wine
At least not today
Perhaps after I mow the football field tomorrow
and the next day with an eco friendly electric mower
that I didn't want in the first place, but
someone else decided to buy it anyhow
Wait, could that be considered my whine, lol.

The new eco friendly ones have battery packs
That's why it takes 2 days to mow all of it
Imagine if it had a cord, I'd be out there for 4 hours mowing
I'm thankful it dies after 2 hours

Why did I know I'd find myself back in here tonight? *sigh*
In general, I love my clients. I really do. But once in a while, they make me absolutely bug-nuts:
1. I have a policy of not answering my business phone (or personal one, for that matter) when there is a client in my chair. Clients can leave me a message and I will call them back when I have a break. Dialing, then re-dialing, then re-dialing my phone 15 fucking times in a row in a 15-minute period and letting it riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing incessantly in an effort to make me leave my client and pick it up faster will NOT make me pick it up any faster.
2. Asking me to make an exception and schedule you for an appointment on a day when I am already booked for 10 hours solid and then am leaving immediately afterward to drive two hours to a hair show--and you know this--is not cool.
3. Getting huffy and getting an attitude when I will not book an appointment for you on my day off because you don't want to wait four weeks for an appointment also does not a happy stylist make.
Don't get me wrong, I am blessed to be so busy...especially in this economy. But really? Seriously?

:whine: Sooooo....evidently one of the dogs had an "upset stomach" last night...and I got to clean up after it this morning...twice.
Then, heading upstairs to work after cleaning up said dog mess, stepped (barefoot, thank you) into a gigantic nasty cat hairball. :whine:
Shrugged it off, cleaned all morning to make the house perfect for the "great prospect" who was coming to look at it....
Yea well....she didn't show up...changed her mind cuz a friend of a friend of a a friend of a what-the-heck-ever had a hard time selling a house on this street and she doesn't want to get locked in.
Course, the realtor called me about that this afternoon AFTER I got all the cleaning done :whine:
Looks like I own another rental property :explode:

Yep...moral of the story: NEVER piss off the woman who does your color lest you wish to glow eerie shades of green in the sunlight :sunglass:
I'm sorry the showing fell through...that truly sucks. Almost as much as stepping into the hairball :crap:
