I couldn't find a general video game thread and I keep seeing references to them all over the place these days! So here's your chance to brag about your mad skillz! Addicted to FPS's? Bejeweled wizard? Console to PC to MMO's to casual, what's your game of choice?

I think it's fairly common knowledge that I've been a pretty hard core WoW'er for a few year's now. My main is a resto shaman in a women's guild on Bronzebeard but I've got alts across a number of servers including a few on Proudmoore. We're taking a raiding break until the xpac so I'm just working on leveling some alts right now.

I'm not a big fan of consoles but I got a Wii for my birthday a couple of year's ago and we have a lot of fun with it when we take the time to play. Mostly just the Wii Sports and Fit games. I'd like to find some RPG's for the Wii.

I've always played a lot of casual PC games and I'm currently on a Spider Solitaire kick again. Was really into hidden object games for awhile but kind of got burned out. I've cut back most of my Facebook games but still have MindJolt and Family Feud on my bookmarks. And I still get a kick out of the Windows games mostly Free Cell and Mine Sweeper.

I've also been looking for some not stupid games for my iPhone. Anyone have good phone game suggestions?

Oh, I love to game. WoW is on the top of the list. SC2 has been pretty awesome so far. Looking forward to Diablo III! However I like all games, every system. The only thing im missing to round off my collection is a ps3, but all games, all types, all consoles or lack of consoles rock my socks!

I love all kinds of games. Although I need to brush up on my Wii skills, as it was no fun having my ass handed to me by my niece. *grumble*

I have a PS2, but don't play it much since we bought the Wii. I want a PS3 or an Xbox, but that might be pushing it.

I play WoW just about every night with Mare. We manage to squeeze in a few quests/battlegrounds. That has to be my favorite as far as online computer games.

Well let's see..

Gayla got me and Sparx hooked on WoW - thanks Unka. ;) In all seriousness, we quite enjoy it and it didn't suck my life away like I was afraid it would. :) I haven't really decided who is my main, though I'm leaning toward my Draenai Shaman (Level 51-ish I think) and my next highest is my Night Elf Druid (Level 36ish) who I'm currently working to level fast because I'm quite enjoying playing with her in cat-form. And I have a Horde Blood Elf in like the high teens or so. Sparx and I play a lot together so we tend to plan our characters around what we wanna be able to do together, which is fun.

Okies, enough about WoW....

I also play Webkinz and have recently revived my long since dead Neopets account though I don't think I'm gonna start playing there again.

When it comes to console games, I like the Wii and I lean towards games with "no bad guys", like the ocean diving game, or Animal Crossing and other cute farming type games. Sparx and the boys play RPGs on it mostly. Gayla - have you looked in the bargain sections of stores like Game Stop/EB Games? They have some cheapo but fun rpgs for the wii. :)

I played Wizard101 for about a year with Sparx which was sorta like..... WoW for six year olds, which was a great way to introduce me to the MMORPG world..

Oh and um.... i also have Hello Kitty Online (MMORPG) installed though I only play it every once in a rare, rare while... it's pretty cute.

You've got the right thread for this young butch. I am skilled in many different games. I'm a hardcore gamer anyhow. As far as old school games are concerned, I love Atari and Nintendo games. However, my favorite games I really get into are shooting, RPG, racing, etc. I love the Metal Gear Solid Series, Final Fantasy, Need for Speed, Grand Theft Auto, God of War, Assassin's Creed, etc.

Okay so I currently have in running and playable condition a Nintendo system a Sega system complete with sega cd expansion and the s64 expansion, one gameboy, a couple of gameboy advances, a gameboy ds, a playstation 2, and an xbox360. I frequently play with all of them depending on mood. My current addictions are Halo Wars and Fable 2. I am wanting to LA Noire. I also am a devoted Runescape addict online and Bejeweled Blitz. Right now I'm playing Fallout: New Vegas. It's an alright game, I get to kill people, but the Fallout game previous to this one was more fun because it had more people to kill and you could find more money and ammunition. But overall, I like the game. I have spent hours upon hours on the couch playing this stupid game; sad, I know, but it relaxes me.

Used to game a lot more than I do now. But I recently bought Fable III (fucking loved the Lost Chapters, but then they never released Fable II for PC and I'm not into console so I'm pretty fucking happy they did this), which could very well be the kick off to a new streak of way too much gaming.

My favourite games (all on PC) are: Fable: The Lost Chapters, Neverwinter Nights (first one and Shadows of Undrentide expansion...second one wasn't as good for some reason), Medieval Total War I (plus Viking expansion), Sid Meier's Pirates, Diablo II and the Witcher (haven't got Witcher 2 yet, though).

I love Gaming, but my avail time to devote comes & goes.

I have a XBOX, where I prefer FPS stuff. Delta, Tom Clancy, Splinter Cell, Hitman series. Like the Myst type stuff. Grand TA, & Crimson Skies is a fav as well.

Wii, I mainly have the fitness, sports, shooting stuff. A few fluff things still not played.

PC, parts of the aforementioned series'. Flight sims, Microsoft Flgt Sim, XPlane.
Online I play Fallen Swords, but have been away awhile. Vampire & Mobster stuff that I get bored with real easy.

QUESTION:
Im looking to play an online MMORG. I only want to get seriously involved in 1 bc of time & money. Im leaning towards WoW.
What game would you all suggest?

For an online freebie, which game would you suggest?

Sorry, I just saw this post. Mare and I usually cancel our account come springtime, but every winter we reactivate and pick up where we left off. I will add you when we reactivate... :)

There's a new MMO coming out called the Secret World. I'm very interested in seeing what that is all about. I did the questionnaire and determined I was best suited for TEMPLAR. Woot.

The Secret World is a massively multiplayer online world with a unique modern-day setting and unparalleled freedom of character progression. Imagine if every myth, conspiracy theory and urban legend was true. Imagine a world where you can become anything you want to be, without restrictions such as classes or levels. This is the premise for The Secret World, Funcom’s upcoming massively multiplayer online game set in the modern-day real world.

There are a lot of MMO's out there, but most pale in comparison to WoW. The warning with WoW is ... it can be very addicting. Mare and I were addicted the first year we signed up for it, but we manage to cancel our account after the winter months. It's a great game to play when there isn't much to do outside. lol WoW isn't free - it costs 15 bucks a month.
But it's a good game with a lot of quests to do. The only thing I don't like about it is - some players take the game WAY too seriously and when you have to rely on other players (to complete dungeons, etc), it can get very annoying. Mare and I tend to play by ourselves and unfortunately, haven't been able to do much in the way of dungeons, etc.

I almost bought Black Ops, but glad I didn't. I have similar games for my PS2, but I prefer playing on the Wii.

Between Christmas and birthdays, I have a ton of Wii games I haven't even opened yet.
I finally cracked open Dead Space and think it's pretty cool so far - but I haven't devoted any serious time to it. I love the Wii, but I am craving "big girl games" - the cutesie games are alright - but I love shooters and games with some sort of backbone.

For a good f2p mmo I recommend Runescape. Yes it also has members stuff that vastly expand what you do and it's cheaper the WoW. Lord of the Rings also rocks pretty much but it takes forever for initial download.

I want LA Noire. I also am craving a guitar hero or rockband game for some reason. Last night I played Halo Wars with my brother all night until he was yelled at by his fiance and my power flashed off. LOL. Strangely enough we play video games together more often now thanks to Xbox Live then we did when he lived at home.

I used to play Runescape as well...dunno if it's changed since then but I used to be able to play it for free, but it prohibits you from buying new armour/weapons at will though you can find them/steal them too.

For free online games, browser based games are the best. Stuff like Tribal Wars and Travian. Just found out Lunar Wars and Galava are no longer in existance, which sucks. Those were awesome.

Check out City of Heroes if you want to really customize your character and have tons of choices on the types of powers/costumes you want. No MMO out there gives you so many choices, plus you can be a hero, a villian, or somewhere in between! There is a somewhat high learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, its addicting!! I have a ton of characters that have different powers, costumes, personalities, and the variety makes the game really fun. They are always adding new content, plus lots of post 50 (the level limit) content.

COD Black Ops wasn't that bad its an awesome shooter game. I mean there is some cool stuff there but I thought it would be longer. Maybe I just played it too much. No Halo for Wii unless you hack it. I played Halo on 360 at a friends house. We did split screen it was bad ass.

I just looked at Dead Space on youtube I think I might buy it now. You will enjoy COD if you like that game.

Free to Play...why don't you head over to Outspark.com and see what they have to offer in the way of free to play games. They have a few different choices and all fun to play as well.

For paid, WoW is awesome, I have tried all others and keep coming back to WoW and nothing seems to compare as of yet.

I have added quite a few games to my collection since the last time I posted. Call of Duty: Black Ops was freaking awesome, I was very excited to play that one and I am even more excited that they intend to release Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Right now, I don't have any consoles. I want PS3 though. And Xbox. And Wii. Hence why I don't have one. Can't decide.

PC games however...I do have:

Ages of Empires (I have the first 2, want the 3rd)
Diablo (don't own but would love to. I had a grand time with it)
TES: Oblivion
TES: Morrowind
Fable II: The Lost Chapters (It's okay. I do better with first person but I'm slowly figuring it out)
Sim City
Myst series

I own Assassin's Creed but I haven't put it on the computer yet. I want to get an upgraded PC first.

Lord of the Rings (LoTR) is a pretty decent game for a free MMO. I liked the fact it made you think (puzzles to solve, etc). I wasn't as addicted to it as I was with WoW though.... (I suppose that's a good thing, but since I didn't play it as often, I removed it..)

I tried to d/l Runescape a while back, but my graphics card couldn't handle it. I've since upgraded my machine, so I might give it another try one day. I did hear it has come a long way since.

I refuse to buy another console since we've already invested so much into the Wii. I have just about everything imaginable for the Wii. Now I hear that it's being discontinued for a new console next year. *moan*
However, I am looking forward to a new Mario Kart.

A friend of mine owns every console out there. As cool as that is in one aspect, it's quite a burden on the finances. I can't see spending a trillion dollars on games for every platform. When I hit the lottery, I might change the way I think about that, lol.

I know it's due this fall. I'm not exactly sure when.

*grins* Here's how OCD I can be about my games.

I have a list of all the quests available in Oblivion/Shivering Isles/Prince of the Nine (or whatever it's called)

Runescape when it was textbased was very very different. These days its amazing and updates every week. The new graphics servers also have made the footprint it leaves easier and a wider variety of graphics cards can handle it. It even plays exceptionally on my netbook which is something I cant say for LoTR most the time.

Heya all, I am new to this board and thanks for letting me in on your fun :hangloose:

I love gaming - Currently I am playing Aion. It is an MMO, been out for about 2 years; I think; it is also 15 bucks a month to play. It is a lot like WoW, which I also play, been playing for 6 years. have several 70+ characters, but only 2 to 85 since the last expansion. I am currently on Dalaran - have a priest and hunter - my druid is like 72 i think, and am looking for a new guild - most of my guild split or splintered into smaller guilds. If anyone knows a good friendly guild please give me a holla.

I actually think I like Aion better, in some ways, than WoW - it only goes to level 55 and the grind to level is a bit of a bitch, but you get WINGS!!! No mounts - can fight in the air - it is pretty kick ass. the graphics in Aion make WoW look like a Commodore 64 game. I just started playing about 2 months ago and have a level 30 cleric (always a healer - its in my blood i guess).

I am not too big on web based games they just seem too slow for me, but that is just me.

If anyone is interested in grouping or anything in either one I have several characters on several realms in both Aion and WoW.

Have a great day!

Thnx for all the suggestions. I think I may take at look at Runescape again.
WoW appeals to me, but seems way to team/guild/horde etc oriented for me.
I like games that I can play alone or w/ a few.
I have Oblivion Elder Scrolls for PC but havent tried it out yet.

Someone mentioned the way some get soooooooo serious about their gaming. Some of it is unbelievable. Just gotta keep in mind that there are alot of cowards out there that get brave sitting alone behind a keyboard.
You see that on all kinds of sites & social networks. They get all ballsy online, but would cower under a table if you walked up in RL. LMAO

Tonight I learned about two new (to me) board games that sound right up my alley:

Power Grid
Dungeon Lords

Have any of you played these before? Opinions? Advice?

Camo - While there are some parts of WoW that are geared towards groups, it's a great game for solo play especially when first starting out. Yes, being in a guild or knowing other players can make it easier and more fun if you're into the social aspects but it's not anywhere near a requirement. I leveled my first toon almost to max playing either by myself or with my partner.

Of course, I'm biased but I think if you're looking for a quality MMO experience, there is none better. I'd encourage you to at least give the trial a try. :)

Thnx for that info. It helps a lot. ALmost everyone I know that plays is all about the social part, and hunting in packs.
Its great to see that it can be done solo as well.

Another question. Can you play successfully for a long time w/o having to spend RT $$$ to buy stuff? I know there is a mthly fee. Im ref $$$$ over that amt.
The game I played for a yr got to the point where to play well, I had to buy the best weapons/armor etc. I spent some RT $$$ but the higher I leveled the more $$$ it was taking. It was becoming a $$$ pit, w/ nothing to show for it. I dont mind spending some on entertainment, but the amt was climbing at a fast rate. In a few more levels I est it would take almost $100 a mth to even keep up. I quit the game at that point.

WoW does not have the option to purchase gear, weapons, etc. with real life money. There are some vanity items like pets and mounts that you can purchase from Blizzard but they are just for looks. Blizzard is very anti-gold selling/buying and the trading of in game items, currency or accounts for real life funds is a violation of their ToS and can result in lifetimes bans. Of course, that doesn't stop the gold farmers/hackers.

Once you get to the end game, the "gearing up" process usually involves dungeons to gear up for raiding and then raid drops to progressively gear up for higher raid content. Of course, these are both group activities but I know a lot of people who have played for years and never raided.

As for dungeons, the new LFG feature they added a little while back has made it easier to get groups. It's a nice system that automatically groups people interested in the same dungeon. Que times can be long but if you're a tank or healer, it's almost insta que. Again, this is if you're interested in grouping but you don't have to. :)

Thnx to your info, WoW is sounding good. I think I may give the free trial a shot. I was looking at some of the books at half prc bks the other day. It looks overwhelming to a newbie. LOL
I love the idea that I can get what I need to play, in game. That makes the fee not so bad. Will still be cheaper than the game I was playing.
I enjoy doing quests, or hired services. Im not into PvP. very much. Ususally do only whats needed to lev or acquire something needed. Unless Im hired. LOLLOL

If you're not into PvP, make sure to pick a PvE realm. Or RP. Or "Normal" I think even. Suddenly I can't remember what all they call them but choose one that isn't PvP. :)

On PvE servers, you can flag yourself for PvP if you choose but you have to specifically activate that option. On PvP servers, after level 10 you are auto flagged pretty much any time you're out in the world.

I'm really glad that we picked a PvE server the first time or we probably wouldn't have kept playing. I go through phases where I do a lot of battlegrounds but I really don't like world PvP.

Ok, that may be the deciding factor to tip me over to WoW. LOL
I love being able to choose about PvP. I dont mind it if its an arena type thing. I just get tired of logging on and finding that Ive been given multi beat downs daily. All your gold is gone, weapons and armor damaged. Then you gotta waste time and money redoing it all.
Or the vendettas where whole grps hit you, bc someone let them know your stats, or you are holding $$ you cant bank bc you are logged off. Thats not battle, those are cheap shots. I have done arena and that was cool. Then it really is about the best fighter, not just about who spent the most money. LOL

I'm not as much a shooter fan as I was when I was younger. I like role playing games. I have played Fable 2, star wars the force unleashed, and right now I am playing Fallout 3 on my 360.

What is Alan Wake like TCB? I've never heard of it.

I never really got into Fable, but I've got the new one on my Game Q anyway through gamefly. I loved the Star Wars Unleashed, I can't wait to play Unleashed II.

Alan Wake was a trip. It was kind of like a survival horror game without so much gore. It had a bit of a silent hill vibe, but trippy in it's own way. I only got through the first few levels until my ADD kicked in and I was ready to play something else. It has a great storyline though and graphics are excellent.

I enjoy both on my IPhone. They are similar to games played on other platforms. Start out at level one, gain clan or horde as you go, earn blood (vamps) or flesh (Zombs), attack others, get their blood/flesh. You go up levels, you "purchase" abilities as you level up-with the blood or flesh that you earn. I was clueless when I started- got slaughtered all the time till I figured out how to stay @ each level to get enough $$ (fake$) to buy the best abilities for the best attack & defend. Now I am level 71 in vamps but some have made it to level 300. I have played/met people from literally around the world-as far away as Russia & China (multiplayer games). I love that about it. I have 2k each in clan/horde (people) that help defend against others that may declare war against you. Oh dear, I am sure I sound nutz but I enjoy the challenge & skill involved & always have something to do while waiting in a long line @ grocery store.

Any thoughts on the new Wii system coming out next year?

http://e3.nintendo.com/

I was watching the E3 coverage on gamespot.com and G4 tv. The Wii U is an odd device to say the least. No more motion gaming? Or does that involve motion gaming somehow? That wasn't clear to me. And the tablet, I can see where maybe driving games or platformers might fit with it, but it's not clear how that is going to work with games like shooters and action/adventure rpgs. They didn't do an in depth demo with a game that is coming out for it at E3 so that could have been done better.

I was disappointed that Microsoft did most of their E3 presentation on games for the Kinect. Not everyone (moi included) is so hot on the Kinect, so we were kind of left in the cold. I read on gamespot.com that next E3 they will probably announce the next Xbox, so that will be a lot more exciting.

As for Sony, they put a lot of emphasis at E3 on 3D gaming. That is exciting to me, because I think incorporating 3D into console gaming could take it to a whole new level! However, I don't have the funds to buy a PS3 any time soon, and I like the Xbox exclusive games more than the PS3's exclusives. I also hate their controller. The Xbox controller is much more ergonomic. They also put a lot of emphasis on the new PS Vita hand held. It looks cool, but I am not really into handheld gaming at this point. But I don't have a smartphone either (I have a dumb phone :( ) so if I ever get one that might change.

It DOES involve motion gaming - same as before - except now with the integration of this tablet. It appears to be a mini tv in the palm of your hands with some added extras. I really am not sure how I feel about it. It's cool that you could still play Wii if someone else is watching TV, but I don't find that a good enough reason to run out and buy one.

This tablet is also supposed to the the equivalent of using two game controllers - but I find it bulky and clumsy. In all of the previews I have seen, I haven't seen where more than one person is playing at a time. And .... how does the nunchuck fit into this thing? I only have two hands, not sure about anyone else.

I was hoping the new Wii would at least play DVDs or include Blu Ray, but they claim there are too many other devices out there that have these. True, but I don't have a PS3 and don't have a desire to get one, soooo .... would really like one in my Wii.

If I ever decide to get another gaming unit, it would probably be the Xbox.

Yeah if it only comes with one tablet, how are co-op games supposed to be played? If you have to buy another tablet, that sounds pricey to me.

As for the Xbox 360 - if you are really into motion gaming, then the Kinect is imho the way to go. No controller to worry about. Microsoft says you are the controller, and it supports co-op games. Although the next-gen Xbox will probably be revealed next May at E3, It probably won't ship for another 6-months to a year. There is plenty of life left in the 360. It is still a great console that doesn't have graphics that seem clunky and outdated compared to PC games the way the original did after only a few years. High def tv has a lot to do with that. HD gives the graphics a big boost in quality, and that goes for all 3 consoles. I just bought my Xbox in May. I had one in 2008 but I lent it to my daughter and she "broke" it supposedly. I got the slim now and it is very quiet and has built in wifi.

Everyone I've asked - either Xbox or PS3 - lean toward Xbox. Both have incredible graphics - but every time I go into a store, I navigate toward the Xbox. I guess because I already have a PS2, it's sort of a "been there, done that" kind of mentality. I am also not thrilled about the PS3 controller.

As for Wii ... buying another controller is one thing, but yeah, another tablet? I'm sure they cost a bit more than $25. I guess we'll just have to see where it goes. Originally, I didn't think the Wii would be as popular as it is - so I could be wrong about this new platform. It's just leaving a lot of unanswered questions.

Okay, first....I played Fable 3 and I LOVED IT! I'm really surprised how much I liked it actually. I ended up killing off my whole kingdom in the end (so much for being a gracious King!)

I just found out that my roommate has Fable 2, so I'll probably play that one since we already own it.

I JUST finished Tron Legacy for the Xbox 360 and I have to say....I have never played a game that pissed me off so much.
I easily probably died at least 50 times on some levels. It was ridiculous.

However, I'm stubborn....and I was determined to finish the game. Which I did. I prevailed!! but I'm still pissed :)

Fable 2 is about 100x better than 3. I tried Tron Legacy and I was so frustrated with constantly falling to my death that I just quit LOL. I am exploring every nook and cranny of Oblivion currently. :)

Eh, I just started L.A. Noire. "L.A. Noire is set in Los Angeles in 1947 and challenges the player, controlling a Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) detective, to solve a range of cases across five crime desks. Players must investigate crime scenes for clues, follow up leads, and interrogate suspects, and the players' success at these activities will impact how much of the cases' stories are revealed." So far it just seems like a lot of cursing, sex and driving around. Pretty boring for the most part.

We're currently playing Rift (MMO), and have found it to be pretty damn engaging thus far. I have never played WoW so for you WoW gamers out there - I can't give a comparison.

I do know Rift has world events every month or so - and that's pretty cool having something constantly "going on" in the world.

And I also know that I tend to play meatshields - yet with Rift I have a mage who's 5 levels from max (50) and I'm still loving playing him. So who kudo's to them for creating a squishy class I enjoy playing past ooooh 15 lol.

We're pre ordered Star Wars The Old Republic - anyone else planing on playing this? Graphics from what I've seen are very impressive. Can't wait to get into the game to see if I like the play style. I'm a PvE'er not a PvP'er so for me it's not about how much I can slaughter Joe Blow sitting next to me...

Gamer here. Since I have been single this past year, I have immersed myself into xbox. I love the COD and Black Ops games, Halo 4 (but I suck at that game). Rockband 2 &3 and Forza Horizon. I know, they are all boi games, but what can I say, I;m just a boi at heart. If anyone else has these and wants to gang up on the 12 yr olds, feel free to Fr me. Gamer tag is Grumpy618.

A WiiU? You got Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate there, tomboy?

I do; I played Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii and liked it so much that I decided that future installments of the Monster Hunter franchise would influence my console-purchasing decisions. Aaand lately I've also played... let's see what I've been up to on Steam. Tomb Raider (the new one), Costume Quest, Super House of Dead Ninjas, a little Minecrack, aaaaand I've got quite a backlog I really should be working on, beyond all the stuff I've played less recently. And that's just video games, not tabletop. I'm currently looking forward to games like Starbound, Stardew Valley, Hate Plus, Terraria's 1.2 update, Sealark, Transistor, Dragon's Crown (christ, I'm gonna have to get another console for that), and I'm too scatterbrained to remember what the hell else right now.

At the risk of thread necromancy, I'm just dropping in to share that Brütal Legend is $4.99 on Steam at the moment. Sharing this everywhere I can, really, because I want to see a Brütal Legend 2 someday.

I'm slightly addicted to 'League of Legends' and 'Mass Effect'. :D
Apart from that I prefer Survival-Horror Games (Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Dead Space...). Looking forward to the release of 'Among The Sleep'.

I already posted this to the geek thread, but since there's actually a video-games thread here, I figured I'd post it here too. Even if it's pretty dead in here. Look lively, people.

Anyway...

I'm a little late to the party, as I should have posted this yesterday afternoon rather than tonight, but I'll share it anyway: Steam is having a weekend sale (going until Monday morning) on two great games I've actually spoken about here, Rogue Legacy (http://store.steampowered.com/app/241600/) (which I wrote about here (http://www.butchfemmeplanet.com/forum/showpost.php?p=826045&postcount=297)) is on sale for $8.99 (which is 40% off its usual $14.99 price tag), and Tomb Raider (http://store.steampowered.com/app/203160/) (which I wrote about here (http://www.butchfemmeplanet.com/forum/showpost.php?p=796847&postcount=158)) is on sale for $12.49 (which is a whopping 75% off its usual $49.99 price tag).

Just thought I'd throw that out there since they're both great.

Alas, I only play World of Warcraft, Wii.. and sometimes my Gamecube so I can re-play Baulder's Gate: Dark Alliance.

I recently was gifted a Nintendo DS Lite by my husbutch and have been sucked into that. I am stuck on a level in Kingdom Hearts Re:coded so am boycotting it at this time! For awhile I got into playing Zelda: Twilight Princess on the Wii and took a break but I think it's high time to get back into it :) On the DS I have been playing Golden Sun: Dark Dawn when not cursing at Kingdom Hearts.

I shuffle between reading, knitting and playing games. :glasses:

If you enjoyed Skyrim, you will also enjoy Shadows of Mordor. Depending upon what kind of games you enjoy, aside from Skyrim style, I can probably suggest some more to. It really all just depends on what you are in to.

I love the PS4 it will have a great life span even compared to the XBox One. The hardware and OS can handle it, provided their PlayStation Network can stay online long enough! But like all the previous generations I expect to get at least 8-10 years out of it so it's totally worth it in my mind. I still have each generation of PlayStation setup and playable :) bit of a geek...err an aficionado, like that.

Still play the ps3 occasionally if you're on anything!

Shadows of Mordor is pretty good in general, but when I played it it had serious freeze bugs on the PS3. I don't know if those have been patched yet, but it'd be nice if they were so I could finish it and get my platinum trophy already.

I'd read about the freezing which is why I hadn't given it a go. I heard that it wasn't a problem on the PS4 but as I will be sticking with my PS3 for a good while yet I was just going to pass for now unless anyone has more positive experience?

Thanks. I've been bingeing on Assassin's Creed recently. Other than that I'd say my top three series are obviously Elder Scrolls but also an old school love for both Final Fantasy and Zelda.

I am not entirely sure what mods they have installed. But we play on the server called D'hara. We originally found them on Fetlife. Apparently though, bright_arrow is telling me they have Spigot 1.8 that helps it run stable. We really enjoy it, everyone there is super friendly, and accepting and nobody griefs and just wants to have a good time. If you are interested the website for their server is www.dhara.enjin.com. Let me know if you have any questions!

Mostly that it's just not nearly as clever or inspired as Saints Row 4 was. Granted, "not as clever or inspired as Saints Row 4" isn't saying much, but. I was a bit surprised to see how harsh the Metacritic review score was when it came out.

Taking a look at the server's plugins... a multiplayer chest shop mod, a multiplayer block protection mod, and a multiplayer "MMO" content mod. Thanks for the heads-up.

I picked up Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, and I have to say I rather like it. Opinions on it seem to be somewhat mixed--some people apparently dislike that it's not just more of the first Hotline Miami, having a much bigger focus on story (making it virtually the antithesis of one of the bigger apparent themes of the first Hotline Miami, which was an effective argument that story isn't strictly necessary to support excellent gameplay) and even allowing story to dictate game mechanics where particular playable characters are concerned (granted, even the first Hotline Miami did this after the fake ending). Myself, I'm quite fine with this--I'm not in the camp that would argue that a sequel should just be more of the game that came before it, and appreciate that Hotline Miami 2 has its own identity and themes, even if some of those themes are the exact opposite of themes in the original.

The fast-paced one-hit-kill ultra-violence set to energetic, blood-pumping music and trippy visuals, as well as the theme of violence being a fundamental part of the human psyche, however, remain. And I appreciate the retention of these themes as much as I do the introduction of new ones.
