I dreamed last night that I was watching some kind of postal machinery and all these vintage looking letters were flashing by with pretty stamps and the names of people I had known in my life.

were you in the 'dead letter office'?

(i don't dream, so have nothing to post) i couldn't resist the word play, though.

Neat dream! The first thing I think of with the word "postal" is "going postal" but unless you had the urge to kill, that's probably not it. Interesting use of the word "flashing" - perhaps you have a deeply imbedded interest in having people flash you their pretty "postage stamps". :) But then maybe you were feeling nostalgic for old friends and old-fashioned customs (like snail mail).

A few days ago I dreamed I hair growing out of my chest that was as long as a hair on my head, and that when I tried to pluck it out, it turned out to be elastic and it stretched out to twice as long before I finally managed to pull it out. :)

ok, i'm going to *try* for serious here.

when you say 'flashing by', i think of old movies where the paper has gone to press and we're treated to a shot of the long sheets of paper running by fast, then the folded final product. that kind of flashing?

vintage is the word that really stands out for me, though. it implies something held over from a bygone time. perhaps there are unspoken conversations that need to be had, or that you wish you'd had? (duh, huh? we all have those) i wonder if there's a recurring theme in those convos?

did the stamps have some representative value in regards to each person? were the people's names in the addressee area or the return area? inquiring minds want to know...and those of us who are nosey enough to miss party lines, too.

I've been trying to interpret this one for years: I had a dream several years ago that there was a pot of boiling water on my stove and in the pot was a bottle of barbeque sauce and inside the bottle of barbeque sauce was a man.
All at once, the bottle of barbeque sauce RANG like a phone and when I picked it up to answer it (by looking down the opening!) it was a lady telling me that I had won a free Thanksgiving dinner.

And then I woke up.

WTF?

This is an interesting one. I would guess : :heartbeat: Something resilient and healthy is emerging from your heart space.....

Working something out that isn't coming along quite as easily as you expected...that's what I got...

OK--I dreamt this huge grey cloud person/spirit, seemed evil actually, and it was on top of me, suffocating me...I had to pray to get it off me and it worked...the grey thing left and I was okay.

I'm not sure what could be made/intrepreted about your dream, but I once had a dream where ominous clouds in grey-scale surrounded me - they didn't feel evil to me - yet, I was 'on-guard' during the whole dreamy-like event. What I mean by "on-guard," is that I'm a high self-monitoring person - I seem to be ultra-aware of my own energy and in-coming energies. During my grey-scaled dream event, it seemed to last the whole night long and I felt totally drained of any energy that I might had acquired during a non-event sleep cycle.

It sounds like your effort in prayer assisted you greatly.

You admit to being a high self-monitor? Sounds like your dream is pretty simple. Sometimes all that self-(and situation)-monitoring can be draining, no? You might miss all the color (i.e., the good stuff) because of the anxiety that is caused in the process of all of that monitoring. Maybe try to let go a little more often?

I have a recurring dream that someone I know but no longer have contact with is chasing me and trying to kill me. She never quite catches me. Although once or twice I have dreamed she shot me, and that I died. Everything went black. The whole time in the dreams I am terrified and running. Sometimes I can fly or crawl up the sides of buildings to get away from her. But always she is right behind me.

:rrose: I have reoccurring dreams about finding treasure chests. Like a Pirates treasure....... And things I had secretly wanted were in there, along with really cool jewelry.

To dream that you find treasures, indicate that you have unveiled some hidden skill or talent. It may also symbolize your self worth. Alternatively, the dream may be a metaphor for something or someone that your value or "treasure".

To see a treasure chest in your dream, represents your hidden talents. It also represents a sense of security and belonging. You are content with where you are in a situation or relationship.

Shadow represents the unknown. However, behind a shade would mean this is someone you know who is hidding something from you. You are being told but you are not listening. Perhaps because you don't want to believe it.

I would say this person in your past had a profound impact on your life. Maybe you feel this person was your soulmate or you were with her in another lifetime. There was a very
hurt received by you fom this person. A big hole was left in your life. At times you feel that no matter how close you get to healing, something pops up to open the wound.

I dreamed last night that I had grown 3 perfect green onions in a little raised bed in the backyard. I had picked them and was holding them out to someone and showing them how full and fragrant they were and was thinking to myself that I needed to look up a recipe for something yummy to cook them with.

WHY did I dream of garden-grown green onions?! :|

Medusa,

I think you have a gift - the onion is a spice. It ties in with the Thanksgiving meal. The man in the bbq sauce is Jack. The pot of boiling water is all the crap you have endured, and survived (whatever it was). This dream is all about love.

My dream: I dreamed last night that I owned a beach house and was working at a cigar shop/coffee house. Dino was with me. We had a huge deck, grill, and it was perfect. Then I woke up.

I think the symbolism in the dream is pretty clear whenever it's about growth, especially something over which you are responsible. You planted 3 (important) seeds that have prospered for you and are now showing you something beautiful - the fruit of your labor.

The three is important and may relate to growth in three areas/levels, but only you can decide what it means: Mind/Body/Spirit? Home/Work/Website? Maybe all of these things are woven together.

I'd pay attention to 3's wherever you notice them now.

(The above woo in no way diminishes the capacity of e to discuss the sciences or to rant pedantically about matters others will view as dry and wholly nonspiritual, as they should.) ;)

Oohhhhh, you're gooood!

Im totally feeling this! - There have been several incredible things happen lately with the website, my home life, and a very recent promotion at work. I think that when I first thought of "onions" that I had an immediate reaction of thinking about the tear-inducing fumes but I guess in some way, all of the planting and tending on these recent endeavors produced some tears of their own.

BADASS!

I don't really remember any dreams anymore. I tend to sleep hard nowadays and that eradicates the dream process for me.

However, I've had the usual "someone's chasing me" dreams that I know exactly who and what they are about, some REALLY out there ones and then there are my favorite dreams...the ones the defy logic or reality but in simple ways.

For example, I'll be swimming underwater but can breathe. Simple, but illogical. I'm always calm and so relaxed after one of those dreams, which is interesting because I don't care for being in water very much at all, short of bathing.

Gemme,

Swimming underwater and breathing can be symbolic of a number of things. If the water is dark and confined it would have on meaning, moving or still=another meaning, clear, shallow or deep, fresh water, ocean, so on.

Dreaming about known persons in situations we actually experience(d). Is about working out our issues when we can work out alternate scenarios to avoid repeating mistakes without suffering consequences of realtime. ie; coming up with the best approach. I call these my 'ah-ha' dreams.

It's usually in the ocean but more blue than greenish or murky. Actually, a lot like the water shown in the beginning of Splash. Light filtering through and blue, but at a lower elevation. I seem to extinctively know what's going on the water too. Come to think of it, I'm probably a mermaid in the dream. They are so awesome. I can't see hair floating around me though. *shrug*

I'm not too concerned either way. I just enjoy them when they come because it's such a rarity now.

As for the chasing dreams, the person in it is not who I know, but who it represents. I have had some aha dreams, though these are not them.

Gemme,

Your dream totally makes sense. The ocean symbolizes universal thought/knowledge. Blue is the color of female energy. I don't get a sense about the mermaid persona. But,
your are a powerful woman, connected to the universal energy, so this dream is a confirmation you are on your path.

It is your life force, energy, and vigor. It reflects changes in your life. Alternatively, the dream suggests that you need to pick up your pace and work on achieving your goals more quickly and efficiently.
On a more positive note, the monsoon in a whole symbolizes your rising spirituality. It may signal rapid changes ahead for you. :moonstars:

I posted this in What's on my mind and Soon told me about this thread that I have no idea how I missed it all this time.
Anyhow, will repost it here since it was a dream I've been having recently.

What do dreams really mean?
How do others actually know they're interpreting them correctly?

After having the same dream for a few nights now, I'm thinking about it.

In my dream I'm told to seek out a woman named Harmony.
I know sounds hokey, but true.
Anyhow, every time I get to where I'm told she is, I just miss her.
I've never seen her face and have no idea why I keep on her trail.
I just keep going and never find her.
I wake every morning thinking about a friend and the dream I had.
Makes me wonder what the purpose of this dream is for me since it's recurring.

To me, and I am certainly no expert, but to me this is very straighforward and says:

Harmony is a level of contentment within yourself that you have yet to reach. You are working towards it and some days you are closer than others, but it's just shy of your grasp right now.

Congratulations, you are like the rest of us! :cheer: :winky:

If it's the same friend you always think about when you have this dream, then s/he's tied into what you are seeking somehow.

I keep having this dream where I wake up in the middle of the night and there's a hurricane not far away so I jump out of bed and get my dog and run to the truck and get in and as I start driving off I noticed something blocking my path so I get out of the truck " while my dog is still in the truck" and move the object outta the way and I get back in the truck as I start to drive away I can see the hurricane just above us and thats when I wake up.

The hurricane represents a turmoil in your life. It seems as though you are getting away from it but it keeps returning. It comes around again when you are not paying attention (reprsented by sleeping in your dream). At the moment it is going to over come you (being over your head), you become aware of its existence and avoid it by waking up.

Your dog is the most scared relationship to you. It can represent someone who is always there for you when you become overwhelmed. Your dream is trying to tell you to stop running from the issue and deal with it or it can overcome you and the one you most depend on.

I have now taken the time. I have procrastinated on things essential to my well being.

Thank you.
