Thanks for this threat, Nat!!! I love movies!
This is not exactly a trailer, but a posted clip from one of my fav movies. It is the beginning of Catherine Deneuve's seduction of Susan Sarandon.
My other favorite part of this film is the naked swim .. but I won't be greedy and take up the space with it ...

Dirty Dancing 2 ... the dancing, especially in the nightclub scene, is simply awesome! All that sweat and glistening bodies, sensual moves, drool.

and then this scene from the first Dirty Dancing movie ....

and yes, for the record, at this time, I can do most of, if not all, the dances seen on these clips. There's nothing better than dancing ... for me. Well, let me put dancing second

I grew up watching old, scary movies on tv. Some of these films had a tongue in cheek quality or a funny bit, just so you could unclench your jaws. This one had one, but it is not on the clip ... two elderly women trying to peek in the room where strange noise emitted. One of the ladies decided that she should go first, the other bonked her on the head and knocked her out. Then, primly, she looked in the key hole just as the man was changing into a wolf ... she promptly fainted dead away on top of her friend. Well, it is kid humor after all.

then there is this one, where Dracula's daughter says, I don't drink ..... wine.

This lovely film comes out in the states like this weekend. But here in London town it doesn't come out to the end of, Nov! Its not fair! I love Carrie. One of my best teenage memories is watching it with my sister and jumping off her bed at the end of it.

Not necessarily my favorites to watch over and over, that is reserved for movies like Princess Bride and Wonder Boys (although a clockwork orange is fun to rewatch), but these are movies I won't soon forget. I hesitate to post irreversible because in truth I hated the rape scene so much that I wish I had seen it before I saw the first scene because i would have been angry enough to accept the gratuitous violence in the opening so much easier even if it wasn't even the right person. I don't know what to say about that move. But i will never forget it so maybe for that reason I post it. I certainly don't advocate anyone watch it without being fully aware of what you are getting into. I like movies that play with time like Momento, but going backwards like Irreversible did really pulled at my heart strings. I was off balance the whole movie. I saw it several years ago and it's still vivid so I guess that says something.

I saw this movie today and I hardly took my eyes from the screen throughout. It was one of the most phenomenal movies I've ever seen. If you get a chance to watch it and in 3D, do it. It will be worth every penny. Moving, raw, emotional, and brilliantly shot. 5+ stars (and I'm a really hard movie critic).

The true story of how the Boston Globe uncovered the massive scandal of child molestation and cover-up within the local Catholic Archdiocese, shaking the entire Catholic Church to its core. Between the cast and subject matter, this movie looks fantastic!

Raoul Peck on Solely Using James Baldwin's Words in this film
roH2iWxfktM

In his new film, director Raoul Peck envisions the book James Baldwin never finished—a radical narration about race in America, using the writer's original words. He draws upon James Baldwin's notes on the lives and assassinations of Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King Jr. to explore and bring a fresh and radical perspective to the current racial narrative in America.

At least in that link. Maybe there's one with English subtitles out there but since I do not speak French, French subtitles are useless to me. I couldn't figure out exactly what was going on and that would frustrate me if watching a whole movie.

VICE Documentary Films Presents: Shelter

From YouTube:
From the team behind the Peabody Award winning Last Chance High, comes SHELTER: a feature length documentary following a year in the life of homeless youth in New Orleans.

At the Covenant House, located on the outskirts of the French Quarter in New Orleans, Louisiana, the doors never close, and there is always room for one more. On any given day, a constant stream of young people carrying everything they own in plastic garbage bags fills the courtyard. The prospective residents are just teenagers, but have already been labeled drug addicts, schizophrenics, criminals and outcasts. As one staff member puts it, “the most damaged population of youth that exists in society today”. Filming over the course of a full year, brothers Brent and Craig Renaud tell the raw and emotional stories of the incredible kids who seek shelter at the Covenant House, and the staff struggling to work miracles everyday on their behalf. In theaters 2017.

From thewrap.com:

The first “It” trailer scared the bejeezus out of nearly everyone on the planet when it dropped on Wednesday. It also broke all online global traffic records with 197 million views in the first 24 hours since its debut at CinemaCon.

This means that the trailer broke the previous record held by “The Fate of the Furious” trailer, which scored 139 million views in the first 24 hours. And by the 36th hour since its release, the “It” trailer has hit a staggering 246 million views.

New Line Cinema dropped the trailer of their spooky Stephen King-based remake on Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. — and got more than 81 million views and 1.8 million shares from the United States Facebook alone. Within hours, it was trending on Facebook, Twitter and Reddit, with most mentions being accompanied by a red balloon emoji. It also rose to the No. 1 position on YouTube.

It's the summer before 6th grade, and Clark is the new-in-town biracial kid in a sea of white. Discovering that to be cool he needs to act 'more black,' he fumbles to meet expectations, while his urban intellectual parents Mack and Gina also strive to adjust to small-town living. Equipped for the many inherent challenges of New York, the tight-knit family are ill prepared for the drastically different set of obstacles that their new community presents, and soon find themselves struggling to understand themselves and each other in this new small-town context.

From NYTimes
In theaters in the United States and Canada now, “Rumble” explores the history of American Indians in popular music, some celebrated for their work, others less so. Jesse Ed Davis, who played alongside the Rolling Stones and, over time, every one of the Beatles, is here, as is Buffy Sainte-Marie, the protest singer who composed songs about everything from young love and spirituality to cultural genocide and the theft of Indian lands. Jimi Hendrix, whose paternal grandmother was one-quarter Cherokee, appears, resplendent in a white beaded jacket and moccasins, at Woodstock, as does the jazz singer Mildred Bailey, whom a young Bing Crosby credited with giving him his start.

Alex Rodriguez wasn't an experienced player, but his presence at the table thrilled the other gamblers.

What do you think? See the movie first or read the book first?

I would say read the book first!

I say that because films / movies are often ADAPTED from the book version. For example, Big Little Lies was a book first, before HBO adapted an initial series after the book. I actually saw the HBO show first. But when I read the book, I discovered that the HBO series followed some of the story, but not exactly. In the case of Big Little Lies, I loved both the book and the HBO series, but because I watched the series first, it wrecked the original story for me. lol .

Anyway, yes, in the case of Molly's Game, I'd rather read the book first, then go see the movie! :balloon:

Yup, that's the conclusion I've reached as well! I read Big Little Lies first then watched the mini-series and when the series ended I felt they left so many unanswered questions that I was glad I had read it first!
