Me first :)

Reliance Aqua-tainer 7 gallon water jug.
After 2 years the plastic became brittle, discolored, and shattered.

Not something you want to encounter when you are ready to use your emergency water containers.

Oh, oh, oh... do I get to say things like don't buy your domain names from Godaddy?

You know, cause they are sexist pigs and stuff like that?

I never tried Rockstar, but I admit to drinking red bull and engaging in copious amounts of chewing tobacco on our 5 state road trip. :D

Stuff tasted pretty junky. (the red bull)

agreed! i wish that i could pull all the hartz and seargents products from shelves. in 13 years of vet hospital, i saw many near-fatal/fatal reactions to these products. there are plenty of sites out there like this one:

I purchased a "White Castle Hamburger Scented Candle" the other day. If you have the opportunity to purchase one don't!! The candle itself fills the room with the scent of the chain's popular steam grilled burger on a bed of onions.

Do not buy one of those electiric water bowls for pets. One of our cats loves to drink from a faucet and will jump on the counter and stare at the faucet waiting for a drip. So I thought the cure would be one of these pet water fountains. Well. the thing is made up of multiple little parts and the whole thing has to be taken apart and scrubbed at least once a week or oogie things and green bits start growing. Its now sitting in the cupboard in pieces and the cats are back to their old water bowl. It is an expensive product and if you have multiple pets like we do you have to buy an extra water bottle that sits in the back of the fountain. Total cost for everything was around $80. Yes, like an idiot I spent $80 on a glorified water bowl. Just smack me, please.

A dyson vac. Any model. They are over priced plastic junk. Maybe they claim to never lose their suction, and it maybe true , but only because they don't have much suction to begin with. Save your money and buy a eureka
it has 20 times more powerful suction. You don't have to keep disassembling it to empty it, and wash the plastic filters.

I have a Dyson vacuum and I love it! The only time I had any trouble with losing suction is when I accidentally sucked up a bullet! I'm like, keep your shit off the floor! But other than that, it works great, sucks up a ton of dirt and dog hair (I have 4 dogs).

I love my Dyson! I bought a reconditioned one and it has sucked tons of dog's hair (my Tibetan spaniel sheds all the time very fine down) and when I vacuum my Chinese wool rug if brings stuff to the surface from very deep in the pile which no other vacuum has ever been able to do (the pile is very high). I love all the attachments, and I have had a Eureka and not loved it half as much as I love my Dyson!

Because I have learned to buy well-made, good quality items I decided to do some research on the Dyson series. I decided to go to who knows vacuums best...the local vacuum cleaner repairman. He stated, "Yes, Dyson's are good vacuums but be prepared to shell out upwards of $150.00 to a qualified vacuum repair person just to simply change the belt. The belt is 'embedded' behind the bagless vault and it take a tremendous amount of labor to simply get to it. And, if you don't use a Dyson service agent (like do it yourselfers out there) it will void the warranty." Case closed. I bought a Simplicity American made upright for $200.00 and it works like a dream. He also strongly advised to stay far away from any bagless vacuum as many small particles can become rogue and get into the motor causing it to malfunction.

Who ever thought vacuum cleaner buying could become so time consuming. I felt like I was buying a new car.

Isn't that the reason why it's called a scented candle?

Do not waste your money on the Bark Off (as seen on TV) Apparently Pomeranians are impervious to this!..didn't stop her one bit!

The same here! I thought it would keep the kittehs out of the bathtub/faucets. It has to be cleaned at least once a week, and the motor goes out easily, creating a big noise and no flow.

Kitteh can do just fine with a $10 thing from big box store-fill up the jug every couple of days, and done.

I did the self watering cat bowl thingy too. Waste of $$$$. Also the vet said plastic bowls was causing the ear mites. I went out and bought 2 stainless steel ones in a rack. Great, and no more mites. I do still use the other one when Im deployed so the sitter doesnt have to come so often.

Plastic bowls cause ear mites?!

Don't know about that (I'm not a cat man), but plastic is porous, so lots of germs and stuff can get embedded in there.

Best to use stainless or ceramic bowls for pets.

Sorry didnt mean to confuse.
What I should have said was, that the vet said it was the cause of my not being able to get rid of the mites.
Mites are not caused by plastic, they are caused by a parasite. But they are spread by plastic dishes bc there is no way to completely disinfect them due to the porous material.
It also is the cause of the spread in multiple pet homes.

My vet advised me to only use glass or metal dishes. Once I switched and treated the animals, the mites disappeared for good. I had treated them repeatedly before w/o any luck.

Vet also stated that plastic will harbor many diseases, parasites, etc.

Sorry for the confusion.

I've got to add my voice to the pro Dyson side. I've had no problems with mine and with three cats it works like a dream. Prior to the Dyson I was buying a new Vac about every six months because I would wear it out. It took me a while to wrap my head around paying $500 for a vacuum! But since it has lasted for over 2 years now I don't mind. They have a 5 year warranty too.

Run them through the dishwasher every few days. One of our cats has feline acne that can be made worse with plastic bowls. The dishwasher will sanitize them

I, too, have a Dyson, minus the ball thingy. I got it at Lowe's and it's been one of the very best household investments I've ever owned. :)

Two thumbs waaaaaaaay up for a Dyson vacuum cleaner!!!!

I have to add my thumbs up for the Dyson! My furry family includes a Great Dane that sheds enough in any given day to build another dog! I have gone through countless other vacs trying to deal with the shedding...the Dyson is the only one that has been able to handle it!

Glad everyone likes their dyson, my eureka works way better. I have a dyson ball. Maybe it's just that model, because a friend of mine feels the same about the dyson ball she has, not that great in suction and lots of plastic buttons etc.

Don't buy the stakes you stick in the ground and they vibrate and buzz, supposedly chasing off moles or gophers. They don't work. Not only are they expensive about 40 dollars each, but the only thing they do is, bother you if you sit on your patio, buzzing and every 10 sec.

Mine is an upright Dyson, and I even like the way it looks, like a tool from Mars! I don't know about the ball, never seen one. This is a fun thread!

I have the purple dyson ball for about three years, its great, no complaints, it takes off and it turns on a dime.
