I like many, many artists - I have very diverse tastes, spanning several decades - but to choose "favorites", that to me means it would be almost painful not to be able to listen to that music again, so that only defines a few for me:
Marvin Gaye
Stevie Wonder
Alanis Morrisette
Tori Amos
Santana
I've really enjoyed reading everyone's choices -- love the 80's "new wave" artists especially!! :)

You know when I wrote the list I was trying to think of people who I would actually listen to a whole album of. Not many anymore. There are lots from when I was a kid like Joe Jackson and Led Zepplin. Anymore it seems like things are all about just one good song. Adele and Pink are the only two I could think of that actually have albums I would listen to.
ETA: Remember when you would listen to an album and would suffer through a not so great song just to get to the good one?

I remember that. Listening to it rather than trying to guess where it ended on the cassette :)
If y'all like Adele, try Duffy.

This caused me to check out how he is doing. I am so gratified to see that he is doing so well. He is talented. It's great to see. He is sort of local to me. I am from near Springfield. I saw him in Detroit and have a couple of early albums. i have to check out the "new" stuff.
