<<~~ Today is my youngest son's birthday (Mr. Ed). He's been a bit depressed lately as when I performed calculations on his latest income tax papers, we found out that he inadvertantly did not fill out his w4's correctly... he's got it covered (and then some), but he's in bed right now and I am quietly plotting his birthday party, for this evening. :)
He's my 'Valentines' boy :stillheart:
He doesn't know it yet, but his very bestest friend from school days and pals of his will be coming to his party tonight. This should make his day, I'm quite sure! :)

<<~ I've been working on making fish taco's for supper tonight. I have two large fillets of Cod broiling in the oven and I have soft flour tortillas that I have been grilling and keeping on the bottom rack of the oven, so they stay warm until I have other items prepared. I thought I could dress the Cod in fresh lime juice (when it's finished with begin broiled), plus I sliced up a large avocado that a neighbor gave to me the other day - they just got back from visiting family in Mexico. I also made a nice bed of baby lettuce leaves to put inside the tacos, too, as well as having a little dish of mild green sauce with cilantro and sour cream.

<<~ Has been hanging out in my kitchen today, tending to a batch of bread and roasting a rack of ribs (marinated in Jack Daniels and smoothered in a honey base BBQ sauce).
I also have some vegetables I'm going to roast to go with the Ribs for supper tonight: I dressed some brussel sprouts and baby red potatos in a rosemary Olive oil and lightly seasoned them with sea salt and cracked pepper corns.
*can hardly wait for supper tonight *

What have you been wearing lately?
(a) A Smile! :)
What have you been eating or drinking lately?
(a) I have been pigging out on Shrimp, Swordfish, Tuna & Lobster,
but really want to go on a baking binge and bake some bread, Apple Streusel or bake a
gigantic German Chocolate cake or even roast some lamb (sounds good, yes?)!
What kind of tunes have your ears been subjected too?
(a) Well, tonight I am listening to .... *Jazz* ....
as in, Robert Glasper's ~>>> Golden Lady
(1 mic, 1 take @ Blue Note Records, 2013).
ajXRTNsoOlg
What's your latest accomplishment?
(a) Outwitting my latest boss who's not really my boss,
but I let her think that she is because I'm really the boss. *lol*
*shhhhhhhh* ;)
Do you have any plans for tonight?
(a) Heck, no. But I'z got plans for next week. I sure do.
Anything good happen today?
(a) Maybe: but it's a tough call because good stuff is hard to come by.
What happens next tonight?
(a) I'm gonna play a few games of cards in the arcade,
then snuggle down with my pillows and let the wind and rain
lull me to sleepy-bye land.

Today's news consists of the following: a weather report, my check-off list, and other items of interest.
First, the weather report:
The month of October is naturally leaf peeping season, when trees by tradition wear their best dress. Lately, I have seen beautiful shades of red, oranges, vibrant shades of amber's and yellow's and I've even seen beautiful dresses in multicolored shades of colors I can barely even articulate properly. Today, without exception, I look out the west window of my home (3 stories up near pine trees) and can see that my neighbors, across the street, have stoked yet another fire in the fireplace and smoke from the chimney is wafting lazily toward the pearly gray heavens. It's chilly today, but hopefully the rest of the month we'll get to bathe in the sunshine of Fall and add yet another memory toward the cache of Most Memorable Season in Life, files.
Second, my randomly ordered "Check Off" list:
-- Exercise: place a check here if you stretched today (check)
-- Address items of interest pertaining to employment (check)
-- Meal planning: daily manna, check grocery list, etc. (uncheck)
-- Music interests: October is "musical rest" month (check)
-- Sleep Log: check only if I am able to sleep (uncheck)
-- Book interests: strive to read less books (uncheck)
-- Employment: check only if you land a job (uncheck)
-- The Smile: check only if you smiled today (check)
-- Brain Function: check only if you're brain dead (uncheck)
-- Gratitude: place a check here if you express gratitude (check)
-- Behavioral Leash: check daily for tracking purposes (private)
Third, 'The Other Items of Interest' files:
During the month of October, my plan is to take really good care of me.
I hope to be able to share more about that, in November.

Updates galore …
Got a promotion in February and none of my concerns came true. :)
Won an “Unsung Hero” award in March where I work (we have a People’s Choice award each year). It’s an honor to be a finalist and to win, but what’s really cool are the homemade trophies each winner receives. The previous winner makes the award for the current winner. I’ll make the award for next year’s winner. My award was made using a toy model of the superhero “Storm” from X-Men and a miniature globe. I had no idea who Storm was so I had to watch the X-Men—it was fun. The trophy is very cool and I’ll post a photo of it when I get around to it.
Lost 10% of my body weight on a low-carb/counting-calories diet (I love my Fitbit!) and I can feel the differnce. I have 30 more pounds to lose. I consume between 1000 and 1350 calories a day. Counting calories isn’t nearly as painful as I thought it would be. In fact, I've become a bit obsessive about it.
Made a new year’s commitment to exercise every day and have stuck to it. Initially, it was murder and I was lucky to make it through one song (five minutes) on my exercise playlist before giving up. I’m now making it through seven songs (appx. 30+ minutes). I will add a song each month, I think.
Please let me know if I’ve put this in the wrong thread.

<<<<<<<~~ Feeling accomplished, today. :cheerleader:
I just got through picking up this past week's mail. Then I prepared 5 super-green's side salads to take to work for lunch, next week. Need to dust and vacuum, yet today, so I can check that chore off my weekend chores list. I also pre-ordered the Robert Mueller report book, if it's ever published this year. Should be a fascinating read. I need to book a date at the tire center to get the studded snow tires off the car, soon, so I hope to get a weekend appt for that car maintenance chore.
Lastly, I plan to go shopping today, hopefully. I need a few groceries. And, I want to buy a few tubes of some hand cream at a beauty supply store. The brand name is.... AHAVA (https://www.ahava.com/?msclkid=fa6671bf2c2f17a342852d3b2c5f4347&utm_content=Brand_Core_P&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Brand_Core&utm_term=ahava&gclid=COSghv7S9eACFVCVxQIdeVwMGQ). I tried some this last week, and it left my hands feeling pretty good. I want to get some for myself and my bff/sil. It's vegan, designed for sensitive skin, and their skin care products are paraben free.

Yesterday I went over to the tire center and managed to get the studded tires removed from the car's rims and the practically new all-weather radial tires put on.... and I also managed to buy the three tubes of hand cream from Israel.
Today I will dust and vacuum.... maybe go for a short walk in the neighborhood. And I've already set the clocks forward, and double checked the alarm for early morning wake up time.
We go from snowy weather straight to 60+ degree weather this week, so I think I will switch up my morning commute to work and dial up my exercise this coming week. :cheerleader:

Dear Wife and I are having a laid back Sunday morning together....reading news/political headlines, listening to chillout music and enjoying our fur babies, who are curled up beside us. :heartbeat:
We shirked church this morning. :nyahnyah:
As soon as we can get "motivated" (HAHAHA!!), we are planning to attack our huge walk-in master closet and get our winter duds packed up into our cedar chest and our spring/summer clothes out, washed and hung up. This is a biennial task we go through and is an opportunity for us to get rid of things we no longer want or do not wear. Our old guy, Bubba, uses the master closet as his own personal "retreat", as he is super skiddish and has, effectively, covered my sport coats/dress suits with his hair. Those will need to go to the cleaners, before I can wear them or store them for next year. Some of my wife's dresses have suffered the same fate. :eyebrow:
There's absolutely no telling when we might overcome our laziness and get to work on our chores. Sometimes, we are both such a bad influence on each other. :giggle:

I never deviate from my early morning rise schedule, so even on the Weekend, I keep to my waking up at 0-dark-thirty, *lol*, but here is what I have done so far, since earlier today:
1) Laundry (at a clean washeteria, nearby).
2) Came home and put laundry away and remade my bed with freshly laundered bed clothes.
3) Vacuumed the house; then cleaned out the chambers of the vacuum, because it makes the house cleaner when the vacuum itself is clean. :eyebat:
4) sat down to rest and drank 2 quarts of water.
5) got up to make supper, which I made my own type of evening meal that I call... Curried Sweet Potato & Tempeh Salad. I pan sear a bar of tempeh, which I crumble into the pan and coat it with evoo. Then I chop up a small sweet potato and a few other veggies (carrots, parsnips, cloves of garlic) and sear them all on med-high heat. Once it's nearly done, I sprinkle curry powder and crack fresh sea salt on top of it, then turn the heat off and let it simmer until it's reasonable cool enough to eat. Then I take a plate and tear up two romaine lettuces leaves, then put a handful of Aragula (sp?) on top of the romaine bits, then ladle half of the curried Tempeh & Sweet Potato veggie mix onto the bed of salad greens. I topped it off with Paul Newman's Creamy Caesar Salad dressing, and sprinkled a bit of chia seeds on top. It's delish! The other half I put in a take-to-work salad container and will dine on it for lunch, tomorrow.
6) while supper was cooking in the kitchen, I cleaned out drawers and packed up little things I want to keep, plus I packed up most of my cooking stuff, and I organized all the canned goods and such, into several boxes. Which will stay on the floor where they are at, stacked neatly, for the movers to take, when it's time to move.
7) It is now time to savor a sunset and catch up on my DVD series of Downton Abbey. I don't have time to watch anything on a work night, but the weekend is when I catch up on favorite things I like to watch, that I have on DVD.

<<<<<<<~~ is... pretty tired, today.
Yesterday, I packed up more of my household and re-packed boxes of fragile items with bubble-wrap. I need to get more packing tape for the tape gun and more bubble-wrap, though. That way I have what I need on hand, the day before I move, in case there is something extra that needs to be taped down or boxed up, short notice.
I have plans to spoil myself by going to down to the coast for supper, and to drop by to see a long-time, dear friend.

Enjoying the last of my little mini holiday staycation just chillin in mi casa this morning after getting up at the crack of dawn to take sunrise wildflower pictures listening to old music visiting memories and places I haven't visited in awhile and watching an uninvited albeit welcome visitor (fluffy kitty) on my patio with a lovely cup of tea. Its good to be the queen.

It's going to snow, so I'm getting the studded tires put on tomorrow.
Other than that, it's R-n-R time (hanging out with a dear friend, maybe a drive to a fav destination for fun times).
Oh, and sleeping in late: I need some down time and lots of beauty sleep.

I've basically done nothing today, because yesterday I did a whole lot:
-- cleaned the house
-- hand-washed and dried the dishes and put them away
-- made salads to take to work for my lunch every day this week
Things yet to do:
-- trim my hair a skosh, then put some hair color gloss on and deep condition my curly locks
-- spend time in the bath tub, soaking in bubbles
-- give myself a facial with special face cleansers and creamy moisturizers
-- choose what I will wear tomorrow
-- fix a light supper; maybe have some cookies or small slice of cake
-- drink more water and carrot juice and herbal tea
Today I felt lucky to come across a traveling blog which gives you some good ideas on what to see or what you need to do when you go, places to stay, etc.

I'm feel anxiety creeping in tonight about what might happen tomorrow (do I lose my job or will we get to keep forging ahead at work). But I spent time on the phone with my mom today and she's convinced that the covid 19 virus is an airborne disease (she's 80+ years old, 53 years of working as an RN in a variety of capacity). It was good to hear her voice, she told me the same too. I know I can only adapt and keep evolving and take each day as it comes, even if it's only moment by moment. I sure do hope I can sleep tonight...

<<<<<<~~ I had a very busy day today: I deep cleaned my studio, moved a few things around, bought a new vacuum because my light duty vacuum just wasn't cleaning the carpets good enough, then vacuumed and mopped the wood floors with Murphy's Oil Soap. Then waited for my banking appt by phone, and got that done. Then I baked a little Sicilian pizza in my tiny, tiny oven. LOL, it was real good. I know I should not have pizza, but I will find ways to work off the big appetite I had today, during the rest of this week.
Right now, though, I'm seriously tired and I'm camped out in my biggo Momma's chair, just reading and reflecting on all the things that went down in the world today and thankful that so far, I am well and glad to be home (safe and sound).

<<<<<~~ My day will get underway in a short bit.
I slept in, just made a veggie stir fry for breakfast, I'm sipping on breakfast tea that is herbal, and today I plan to continue working on deep cleaning my studio apt. What I mean by that is that it's almost one year now that I moved to my beautiful studio. I still have boxed contents from my prior, much larger, living quarters that I am going through and deciding if I keep it or toss it (to the donation box, nearby). I plan to wade through the last of all the unboxed contents today, then take a break and reflect on everything I plan to have accomplished today, just to make sure I've ticked off every item on my check-list before I turn my attention to other dire important matters (the two tests and studying for them, so I pass both tests with 80% or better score).

<<<<<<<~~~ just read and listened to daily news updates and find myself more worried than ever, as if that could even be possible right now.
I was just saying "WTF" when I read that Kushner (that POS, just like everyone else in their family tree :| ) stands to benefit from that so-called straw company i read about on POLITICO (https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/realestate/kushner-company-stands-to-benefit-from-freeze-on-federal-mortgage-payments/ar-BB127acO?ocid=msedgntp).
Late last night I got the 'cheerful' email from my state's unemployment agency, telling me it will literally be weeks, if not months, before they can issue a check to provide life sustaining support, in the barest of ways. Worse, that biggo stimulus bill that people are supposed to get big one-time checks? Those won't roll until after late September, maybe even in October.
**** silent scream ****
It's unbelievable the horse-shit the current administration and their family and 'family' of 'friends' is getting away with. So UN-F ^ C K ing-beLIEvable. Upset does not even describe how I feel.

I managed to survive an especially trying day…..
It started with someone knocking on my door at 6am 😳 I was up but didn’t need to be up up until 7ish since I go into work later on weekends….
Got to work only to find the receptionist had called out of work and I was wearing non official scrubs anticipating my boss not being in. But she came in to cover the absent receptionist…..
Then we realized by 9:10 that the provider was apparently a no show…. We had to shuffle things around and arrange for virtual visits and send away anyone who needed hands on care until a replacement was found.
And finally… I had my first person pass out on me while I drew their blood. And I specifically asked him before hand because he was somewhat gingery. He assured he had an aversion to needles but did NOT faint……. Till today.
I’m not sure if the solar eclipse has created flares or a vortex, but things have been mightyyyy strange at work lately. Just sayin….

<<<<<<<~~~~. Was going to go up to Seattle to watch my baseball team play against the Mariners but Amtrak wanted way too much money for a round trip and cheap seats at the T-mobile sports field was too much too. So … I will just do pay-per-view streaming to watch the game today.
In other news(lol): I noticed that road rage drivers are finally getting the much deserved attention they need. There was a 60+ year old driver who stalked a racing motorcycle driver and he nearly killed the motorcyclist out on the “sunset highway” that goes up the west hills toward the zoo. I’m pretty sure that road rage driver won’t be trying to kill anyone ever again. He’s still in jail on his way to prison.

Sorting out my goodbye furniture. I am getting rid of a few pieces of furniture to make room for new. I have a china cabinet, glider chair and a very long office desk... alll gotta go. I saw a nice wooden table that I like and it will fit more of my collection and a smaller comfy chair to replace that glider which is quite large. I don't need the other desk as I am using a smaller one that takes up less room. All of it is being picked up by the Salvation Army to give away or sell as they please. Be glad when it is sorted.

<<<<<<<~~~~ I am terribly sensitized to the traumatic results of the election earlier this month. I don’t watch any news anymore (for now) but come across stuff online, once in a while.
To compound my heavy hearted sadness is the fact that two dear friends of mine have passed away and there are a couple family members/dear friends who might not live much longer due to health issues. (w)(w)(w)
Right now, I just keep my focus on making it through the day at work (which is a HUGE challenge — they voted for you know who). I still have bills to pay each month, student loan payments from hell, and a couple years of car payments.
Going forward, each day, instead of my old habit of reading national news, I go to the gym early (before I go to work) and exercise for two hours based on goals I set with my gym coach. On my days off, I attend pool aerobics or do the Zumba dance class, then treat myself to a soak in the jacuzzi.
Also, the holidays are ruined for me. I’ve canceled my views on holidays that most people celebrate and will now only entertain having a “holiday” (of my own making) that I use to reward myself for achievements that bring peace and joy to my life.

I'm totally waiting out this month. I have an appointment with a neurologist. My doctor does not want me to work with this dizziness going on. So, I'm scheduled for a MRI and some X-rays of my spine. And we can proceed with the results.
I'm taking it easy and trying not to sit around and eat. In fact, I'm quite surprised that I've lost a pound. I'm hardly active as I was.
I've already have Christmas decorations up. Seeing my pencil tree all lit up makes me smile. I have cut out a couple of quilts that I'll be sewing up soon. Next, it will be time to purge the kitchen. Between my Mom and I we had lots of doubles. Time to downsize.
That surgery made me put my home and myself into, it's time to think about what will happen to my stuff. Also made me remember I'm not as young as I think I am! What frustrates me most...I'm not bouncing back like I used to!!
