Spring greens, arugula, dandelion baby spinach.
Toppings vary from Roquefort, bleu, to oil Dijon lemon and ponzu, to creamy caesar. I put pumpkin seeds, feta, croutons and bacon bits on my salads. Makes a meal in itself.

I'm not designed to like only one kind or type of anything. I like salads, period.
Right now, there's large red bell peppers, mushrooms, mini bell peppers (yellow, orange and red), romaine, shredded cheddar cheese, garlic and onions in our fridge with both non-fat and full fat Caesar dressing. I can make about 5-6 different salads with that combination alone.
I do tend to prefer romaine over spinach, as it seems to last longer, though I do like both.
One of my favorite simple salads of all time is chopped walnuts, shredded mozz cheese (usually non-fat), mushroomes chopped up teeny tiny, and romaine with a raspberry vinaigrette or a pear vinaigrette. Yummmmmy.
I kinda feel like Forest Gump here, but I like Caesar salad, Cobb salad, Waldorf salad, Chef salad, garden salads, dinner salads, clean out the fridge salads (aka everything but the sink salads), Greek salad, protein salads, rice/couscous salads, three bean salad, potato salad, egg salad, macaroni salad, BLT salad, crispy chicken salad, Mediterranean salads, and a plethora of others.
I do, however, not particularly care for carrot raisin salad and I find ham salad quite distasteful.
I like my salad covered with a bun on top salad in the middle followed by a hamburger patty with cheese on it and a bun on the bottom of the hamburger patty.

I like my salad to have a mix of fresh and cooked things- On a bed of spinach, or perhaps blanched kale, I want an abundance of raw tomatoes, and raw mushrooms. I like roasted onions, and roasted corn, but cold. And then I like some pickled beets. And boiled egg bits. Add some raw cucumbers, raw peppers in different colors, then top it with some low fat small curd cottage cheese instead of dressing, with a bit of salt an pepper on top. YUM. Fancy dinner goodness as a salad.

I like leafy greens or spinach and I'll add almost any veggie depending on what I bought or what's in the fridge.
When wanting nothing but raw veggies in my salad, I'll take, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, mushrooms, yellow squash, zucchini, bean sprouts, tomato, green onions and add that to whatever lettuce I have on hand. Of course, always cut into bite size pieces. I'll add balsamic and olive oil or sometimes honey mustard dressing. Top it off with mixed shredded cheese and either croutons, crushed bagel chips or tortilla chips. If I have some hard boiled eggs in the fridge, I'll chop one up for the ultimate top off.
I'm not much of a, I have to add meat to my salad kind of person. I'd rather have my meat on a separate plate.

radicchio, endive, arugula, lollo rosso And OMG Bibb lettuce (same diet as I gave to my reptiles) plum or orange tomatoes (my favorite), radishes and maybe cucumber - topped with gorgonzola cheese, cranberry's and sunflower seeds and of course balsamic vinagrette.

Lately I've been making my own dressings, it cuts out all the garbage such as preservatives, sodium and other harmful chemicals.
I use EVOO as a base for them all. Dijon mustard is also a good ingredient for salads.
Or just lemon squeezed on greens is a very light and tasty way to dress salads.
If trying to loose weight the dressing is where most of the calories and fat come from, so keep the dairy products to low fat whenever possible. I don't use salt on salads, but lots of fresh ground pepper is good.
I was looking at low fat dressings and what they substituted for the fat, they over did it in sodium, so be extra careful there.

Don't eat much salad. I tend to eat more steamed or baked veggies than salad. Anyways, when I do eat a salad I prefer baked chicken breast with red vinegar (red wine vinegar or raspberry vinegar), along with baby tomatoes. I could eat baby tomatoes all day :p

Oh man I am a salad queen! almost every thing I eat is in bowls. I grow micro greens and other live things. I love LIVE just picked food. This is major for me. But I also love Earthbounds organic romaine hearts. love love these.
always tomatoes, chopped herbs, cukes, sometimes raw fresh soy beans, roasted peppers, olives, all most anything I can chop up raw, hulled hemp seeds a must, sometimes dried cranberries, nuts.
I like crumbly blue cheese or crumble goat cheese, a good olive oil like lucini and balsamic vinegar.
I also posted somewhere a dressing I make- an asian ginger I use fresh ginger, toasted sesame oil, hemp oil, garlic, soy an little honey. Amazing!
when I grill any kind of meats I often cut it up and put on my salad. Like I said most of what I eat all gets piled in a bowl.

Salad dressings are relatively simple, what do your taste buds like? Fruit such as guava, mango, papaya, raspberries and of course citrus' such as orange, lemon, lime. I'd keep away from grapefruit, however.
Using EVOO it goes like this
1 part citrus or fruit puree to 2 parts EVOO
add pepper and/or mustard for a kick
I use ponzu as a umame (earthiness) for my dressings.
Feta or goat cheese are an excellent cheese to use on salads.
Unsalted nuts, seeds, add flavor and protein, minerals, but only use unsalted, otherwise it is upping your sodium intake far to high.
Enjoy Matt.

I like a lot of things on my salad but if I made one with everything on it I like it would take me a week to eat it.
grated carrots
boiled egg
sunflower seeds
croutons
pepperoni
tomato
onion
banana peppers
real bacon bits
walnuts or pecans
cheese
cucumbers
olives
mushrooms
I do sometimes like ham, turkey and roast beef on them but not normally

if you're losing weight try to watch sodium. that includes many dressings BUT maybe for now look for bottled natural low fat. Ken's Italian makes a healthy choice. When you get closer to your target start getting fancy. I like using hemp oil and sometimes mix with apple cider vinegar and a bit of honey. ACV is very strong and is an excellent fat burner. In fat try a few tablespoons a day in a small glass of water, lemon juice drink down fast.
Chop up broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, tomatoes, cukes, bell peppers, whatever you want all together raw. add some feta and canned beans, organic, rinse well and mix, add ken's healthy choice, mix and store. You can eat any time, as much as you want. Throw it on a cup of brown rice or eat alone with chicken. The beans and all those veggies will help you feel full and in three weeks, along with spinach green smoothies you'll feel great! You'll have so much energy you'll be zipping around and weight will start melting off

I do this too, most meat seems very "heavy" i like fresh fruits and veggies... i used to get made fun of for this ... growing up in a family where the normal is a huge plate of spaghetti (which i like in moderation) and 6 pieces of garlic toast (again i like in moderation) and for desert...............4 or 6 twinkies! :( no wonder i struggle :P :P

_Always_ homegrown tomatoes if they're available. Mostly greens of a sweet type mixed with a few greens of a bitter type. Some nuts or seeds, some fresh apples or strawberries or dried fruit, carrots, a little sweet onion or a bit of garlic rubbed around the inside of bowl before tossing the salad, salt, fresh ground pepper, and some kind of fruity-tart dressing with olive oil.

I usually have to force myself to eat salad. In order to enjoy it, I put a lot of salad dressing on it and garlic butter croutons.
The salad dressings I like are: Thousand Island, Tomato vidalia onion , Wishbone Italian season, and Peppercorn.

My new oven (stove) won't arrive until Thursday, so I'm having salad for supper tonight: I like a bed of dark green baby spinach leaves and torn romain leaves; followed by a generous sprinkling of crumbled goat cheese (feta), sugar snap peas, dried cranberries, a hand full of blue berries, and I had some pre-cooked hard-boiled eggs in the refridgerator, so I chopped an egg up to put on the salad, too. I like Ken's Steakhouse Balsamic Dressing, so I'm using that as my salad dressing, tonight.
I also had a few late season cucumbers; so I made a coconut-shrimp salad to fill hollowed out, split in two cucumbers, as an extra side for my supper salad.
I'm also having one slice of, toasted and buttered, sour-dough bread.

Mmmmm salad :)
For the base: Leafy greens: mesclun mix/spring greens...spinach! Anything but iceberg...no nutrients....at all
Added in: everything and anything that won't run away...I especially love:
Fresh peas, fresh mushrooms, garbanzo beans, sunflower seeds, hot peppers, FRESH GOOD olives, particularly the ones with the pit in them (*kalamata mmm),
I love any veggie except broccoli...the little thingies get stuck in my throat (or I IMAGINE they will)
And on top: I'm partial to home made type pumpernickel croutons (like Ruby Tuesday has) and a light, subtle but tasty dressing...I like Newman's Own dressings...there's one with ginger that will make your mouth sing. And I love a nice herby (dilly) cucumber dressing...like tzatziki...embellished...or sun dried tomato dressing...there's also an Italian dressing at Whole Foods (their brand) that I find to be divinity...I marinate just cukes and tomatoes in it and have it for a snack/lunch/dinner

depends on the day. Most often I don't have dressing on my salads. For me I enjoy the flavor of the veggies as the stand on their own.
I like most types of salads. Sometimes I'll do a mixed greens with fruit and nuts or seeds with a little bit of feta and other times I enjoy having a variety of veggies and shredded colby cheese on the salad....it all depends on whats available in the house. I do prefer a spinach mix of greens more than a iceberg lettuce mix. Every once in a while I even throw on some beans (kidney, black bean, pinto).
I don't have a preference I guess...I merely go by what I have and what mood strikes me.

Currently we are doing an iceburg/romaine mix ($1 difference between and we eat a lot daily) but we are going to start incorporating baby spinach as well.
Carrots, sunflower seeds, hard boiled eggs, corn and tortilla strips. Sometimes edamame, but I normally keep that around to snack on it. Topped with ranch, the occasional balsamic if I find a good one that I like.

I like power greens for my base, and then I top it with a salad that we make at work, that has kale, red peppers, red cabbage, almonds, arame, carrots, and sesame seeds in it, then I cut up an avocado, and top it with strips of grilled chicken. avocado, avocado, avocado
pepperoni makes a great salad topping cut in strips with cheese

baby bell peppers
jicama
nuts
berries
feta
artichoke hearts
any type of seasoned meat

Restaurants will do anything for revenue and capitalizing on the health craze by adding a few eye catching words here or there.

A mix of baby greens, cukecumbers, tomatoes, greek olives, salad olives and maybe some cheese crumbles. I really like the lite dressing I make with lemon, juice, evoo, a bit of pepper and sea salt, I make it in a large bowl then toss it till everything has dressing on it then put it in a smaller dish and have at it.

I like only a small amount of lettuce or greens, celery, peppers (that must be sliced length wise and thin), cucumbers, dried cranberries, candied walnuts, and either blue cheese crumbles or Gorgonzola crumbles. Only a vinaigrette dressing will do! I'm a tad fussy I guess but oh well......

When I was growing up I remember having salad sandwiches, white crusty buttered bread, lettuce, sliced tomatoes, cucumber, Spanish onion and salad cream, quite retro now ! I still love salad cream.

Lately, my salads have included, for the most part, the following: romaine (from CA growers ONLY!), baby cukes, salad topping bits, bacon bits, shredded carrots, a super tiny diced mix of 8 veggies that I got premade at my grocery store (carrot, celery, broccoli, green cabbage, green pepper, jicama, purple cabbage and radish), mushrooms, parmesan croutons and whatever dressing I feel like that day.

So I looked up salad cream because I have never heard of it. It is essentially mayonaise. Mayo is by far my favority condiment, but I can't imagine it on a salad. 'Course there is a good chance it is in other dressings.
From Wiki:
Salad cream is a creamy, pale yellow condiment based on an emulsion of about 25–50 percent oil in water, emulsified by egg yolk and acidulated by spirit vinegar. It may include other ingredients such as sugar, mustard, salt, thickener, spices, flavouring and colouring.
Mayonnaise, *snip* It is a stable emulsion of oil, egg yolk, and acid, either vinegar or lemon juice

I recently began to have a green lettuce salad for breakfast. I use a few leaves of romaine lettuce (chopped up by hand), then top it with baby arugula, shaved slices of sweet onion, one clove of garlic minced, sweet peas, and nasturtium flowers. I make an evoo dressing with freshly squeezed juice from one clementine or small tangerine: juice + 3 tsp of evoo) to dress the salad. I top it with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and a few pine nuts. On the side of the salad I make a 3 egg scramble with melted provolone on top.
It’s a yummy alternative for breakfast, plus I feel all kinds of energy to boost my day.

Well,
Earlier this week I baked a small cordon blue chicken breast and sliced it and put it on top of my salad that night. Mediterranean salad dressing. Very good!
Last night I baked two chicken green chili enchiladas. I put one on top of my salad with more cheese, onions, cilantro, sour cream and more green chili. Oh my, what a great idea. It was a better choice than beans!
I'm going to do a repeat tonight!
