Hey Cara! It's a great town. There's literally ALWAYS something to do (not that I do that much.) The BF crowd here is really tight. There are parties and game nights etc. We go out for dinner every now and again.

Climate is ...well...Texan. Blistering hot in the summer but gorgeous fall and spring. Winter can get chilly but never down in the really nasty cold.

And it's situated in a great spot. 1.5 hours to San Antonio. 3 hours to Dallas. 7 hours to New Orleans. You can get to the beach at Galveston in a few hours as well.

Museums, great food, parks, people and of course the music. If you are a music fan, Austin really is the live music capital of the world. :)

Well, I must admit, I've been to Austin more times than I can count, I hella heart Austin and am so glad that it's only 3 1/2 from Houston!

Austin ~ great food, fabulous people, and always a rockin' time... and the cheap drink specials on 6th Street don't hurt at all :D

We must not ever forget BEVO and the University of Texas ~ where burnt orange runs through veins!

Not to mention, Austin is 30 minutes away from San Marcos.... which has the BEST outlet mall I've ever been too!

**my personal service announcement for Austin, and I don't even live there**

There's a new-ish outlet mall right here in Round Rock(kinda close to the Ikea). It's not as big as the San Marcos one, but the shops are good.

We've been to Austin a few times. Went to Pride there last year (surprised it was a small Pride) but liked the downtown area. Saw the bats! That was a sight. Won't be moving there because we love to the ocean too much to leave here but will be visiting Austin again in the near future. My gf eyeballed that Mall you were talking about. So far I've managed to stay on the Freeway and keep driving past it. :)

Hey everyone. I was born and raised in Austin and I love it.... probably too much! I have lived in Iowa and Georgia, both for only 6 months each. I got home sick and came back. The thing I love about Austin is the diverse population we have here. The museums, the artists, the music, the attractions that come here, kayaking, the lakes, everything! The surrounding areas have quite a bit of things to do as well.

Depending on your tastes...and the season....here are 35 things to do in Austin (http://www.buzzfeed.com/summeranne/do-or-die-austin-texas#.gjnaGA0K).

I personally recommend the botanical gardens. (http://www.zilkergarden.org/) Very pretty! Zilker park (http://austintexas.gov/department/zilker-metropolitan-park) has a lot of things to do.

Sixth street can be fun. I saw a burlesque show there once. Lots of live music pretty much everywhere, even the airport.

I live in Corpus Christi Texas and my local Doctor passed away. No other endocrinologist in the area will prescribe testosterone. So I am looking for a Doctor in the Austin Area who treats FTM's. Does anyone have a doctor they would recommend. Your help would be most appreciated.

I'm an Austin native. I've lived here much of my life.
Yes, we have really bad air. The bad ozone days mentioned on the tv weather reports. Most likely at least in part thanks to all the people (unfortunately) moving in.

Like almost all native Austinites, I wish these people moving here would make a u-turn and go back where they came from. Many of the Austin natives don't appreciate these people moving here. It's really sad what's happening to Austin.

Hey Chad,

Actually, I won't be at ACL. Will you be attending?
I'm on a major deadline due next week. I will be watching some of it being live streamed online (via Red Bull).
Last year I watched it online, and it was fabulous! A front row seat with all of the conveniences of home. Especially good if you're trying to do work at the same time.

LOL I am not a Houston native but I feel the same, people need to stop moving here, if they don't get the hint with flooding and the fact that Houston is actually concrete on top of swamp land, they will find out when they float...
