1. Did you make any New Year's resolutions last year? If so, what?
Yes, to stop drinking pop.
2. Did you keep your resolutions?
Actually yes I did. Actually we did, but Corkey didn't realize we were doing it as a new years resolution:|
3. What is the biggest/most important lesson you learned over the last year?
That being happy sometimes means losing people in your life. Unfortunately for them I learned I can live without them. (my parents)
4. What is one thing that you meant to accomplish but didn't?
5. What was the biggest change in your life over the last year?
My health, I have never fully recovered from the hematoma I had 2.5 years ago. Being down and out for 5.5 weeks and not being able to do anything during that time, really hurt me. It seems like every time I start getting back to normal, something else hits me. Like whooping cough all summer.
6. Do you like cheese? the kind you eat, but not the kind you cut
7. Did anyone new come into your life over the last year?
New friends moved into the area (lionpaw) and we all just totally hit it off!!!!
8. What are you most thankful for over the last year?
Corkey
the fact that I have a good job
new hobbies
new learning
that my parents seem to be coming around and acting normal (for them:))
this web site (do I get bonus points?)
new friends
9. Will you make any New Year's resolutions this year? If yes, what?
YES (Corkey pay attention, he thought we were just talking not making resolutions the last few years:|)
to keep not eating at fast food resturants (we have slipped on this one), keep not drinking pop, keep working on cutting out the HF corn syrup and trans fats, and new we are adding to cut out the salt and for me eat less butter.
10. Name one new thing that you plan to do in 2011.
I am going to learn to knit cables
learn to knit socks
learn to knit mittens
learn to knit a hat
I know that is 4 but they are all knitting:)

Your Year in Review
1. Did you make any New Year's resolutions last year? If so, what?
To actually LIVE my life and not be so afraid.
2. Did you keep your resolutions?
Yes I have - I am living and while I am still afraid, I am doing it.
3. What is the biggest/most important lesson you learned over the last year?
That life is far too short to not allow love in your life. That it is counterproductive to continually fight to protect yourself. That it is okay to be vulnerable.
4. What is one thing that you meant to accomplish but didn't?
Lose the weight that I have gained.
5. What was the biggest change in your life over the last year?
Learning to be self-sufficient. Going to the BFP Reunion - this was HUGE for me. It forced me to stop hiding behind the security of my screen and meet people.
6. Do you like cheese?
Love Love Love Cheese!
7. Did anyone new come into your life over the last year?
Many new people have come into my life... Some from last year who are still here this year, but I am closer to them and have shared new things about myself with them and have learned new things about them - so in a sense, even those from previous years are new.
8. What are you most thankful for over the last year?
The people who continue to love me, even though I am constantly screwing things up! Sometimes, I am just amazed at how blessed I am for the people in my life. I don't always feel I am so deserving... Yet, thankful I am. And most, I am thankful that I have three brilliant and beautiful sons. That I raised these boys and they are high functioning (lol). I am thankful I didn't screw them up so much.
9. Will you make any New Year's resolutions this year? If yes, what?
No, because I am tired of letting myself down.
10. Name one new thing that you plan to do in 2011.
Maybe I will cook in 2011. I have a crock pot - Maybe I will use it. Serious... I am not domestic, and I feel like there is something lacking with me. So, if I could prepare meals for my family, then that would be a new experience for all of us.

opened her eyes and is fussing about the breathing tube

:rainsing:
Of course my health is not in a good mood, I gotta deal with bullshit red

So it must mean that outside of the icky zone, things are

1. Did you make any New Year's resolutions last year? If so, what?
To start working out and get healthier, to move to Texas, and to continue that elusive search for happiness.
2. Did you keep your resolutions?
Well, I'm in Austin now, I've started....stopped....started....stopped....and started....and slowed down with the working out, but I have gained health benefits and dropped a bit of weight, so I do consider that a victory. I've had happiness in and out of my grasp for a while now. I consider that a resolution kept, as happiness tends to be fleeting.
3. What is the biggest/most important lesson you learned over the last year?
I'm still ruminating on that. 2010 has been a very educational year in many aspects.
4. What is one thing that you meant to accomplish but didn't?
I haven't won the lottery. Yet.

10. Name one new thing that you plan to do in 2011.
Organic and I are going to move into a larger place.

Life is good.

1. Did you make any New Year's resolutions last year? If so, what?
I don't make "new years resolutions" Any given day, if I need to or want to do something different, I do.
2. Did you keep your resolutions?
Most of them, yes.
3. What is the biggest/most important lesson you learned over the last year?
Sometimes life is about the ins and outs. (stop it, pervs!) Sometimes people walk into your life, others walk out, and some walk out, only to walk back in. I have learned, the ones that walk in, usually do so at just the right time, no matter how long they stay. The ones that walk out, are making room for the ones that are supposed to be there. And the ones who walk out, only to walk back in, I have learned, if they really want to walk back in, I should greet them with an open mind, an open heart, and open arms.
4. What is one thing that you meant to accomplish but didn't?
I wanted to be a duel card holder in stagecraft. I have my stage card, the second would be in wardrobe. I started the apprenticeship program earlier this year. All is not lost, the card will eventually be mine.
5. What was the biggest change in your life over the last year?
My mom's health. I have seen her go from a relatively healthy 70yr old, to battling pancreatic cancer that had spread to her lymph nodes. Now she deals with old radiation burns in her stomach that open and bleed, cauterization of the bleeds is needed about every 2 weeks now. And a malignant tumor on her spine, slowly robbing her of everything from sight to leg function, for all intents and purposes, life.

Yes, a few. I'm thankful for that.
8. What are you most thankful for over the last year?
A few of the friends that I have. A few here on BFP, and a few here. There to talk, give me a smile, encouragement or, a kick in the ass. What ever I needed, I found it in these friends. I am truly thankful.
9. Will you make any New Year's resolutions this year? If yes, what?

I am very thankful that I dodged the Breast Cancer bullet this fall though it was one nervewracking six weeks tests, waiting, more tests, more waiting.
Tommi here is the one who publically and privately very strongly encouraged me to get that long overdue Mammogram! The situation still needs to be monitored but if it were not for Tommin who knows. This is the wonder and value of getting close with folks in a on line community. So again my appreciation for Tommi and all the special other members who held my hand through that ordeal!!

1. Did you make any New Year's resolutions last year? If so, what?
I resolved not to make any New Year's resolutions.
2. Did you keep your resolutions?
Why yes, yes I did. :cheesy:
3. What is the biggest/most important lesson you learned over the last year?
I learned so many, yanno? Hard to say what the biggest one was... I guess it would have to be trust; I think that's what they all boiled down to, trusting myself.
4. What is one thing that you meant to accomplish but didn't?
Getting That House organized. :scared: :bolt:
Also, getting us out of financial trouble... that one we actually went backwards on. *sigh*
5. What was the biggest change in your life over the last year?
There were two and they're equally huge. I learned to see leeches before they get their jaws in me, that was a good change. Lady got diabetes and went blind from VERY fast-growing cataracts, that's a bad change.
6. Do you like cheese?
LOL, Dusa, you do crack me up! Yes, there's almost nothing that can't be improved with cheese... even chocolate is better with cream cheese (cheesecake, anyone?).
7. Did anyone new come into your life over the last year?
Tons of people, and I am most grateful that they've gone again, too--that thing about leeches, yanno? I seem to attract them with annoying regularity. The people I've met who aren't leeches seem to be keepers though. :)
8. What are you most thankful for over the last year?
Gryph. Hands down, always and ever, Gryph.

The same as last year, I'm sure. ;)
10. Name one new thing that you plan to do in 2011.
Put in a real garden! I'm planning to renovate That Yard, put in fruit trees, berry bushes and vines, and build a real veggie garden! It'll be our third spring here, and I have a pretty good idea now where I want to put things, where the sun and shade are, and just how long the hose has to be to keep everything watered. (100 feet--it's a big yard, wow!)

2. Did you keep your resolutions?guess not
3. What is the biggest/most important lesson you learned over the last year? I learned it is not healthy nor in my best interest to allow someone, to have control over my emotions. I had to learn to retake control over myself, as I had never experienced such emotion that caused me to lose my emotional self control before. I learned to be more aware of personal characteristics of those who I chose to trust, associate with, bring into my circle and/or love....or not.
4. What is one thing that you meant to accomplish but didn't? I didn't concentrate enough on looking for a better job. I had faith that this too would pass, as far as my job situation, but it hasn't.

8. What are you most thankful for over the last year?
Daddy coming home, my little "Tootie", Nannie not suffering, my roomie, and the support of my friends when I was at the bottom and need them most
9. Will you make any New Year's resolutions this year? If yes, what? No just life style changes

I reached three professional goals in 2011: to finish an advanced degree in Math and Science Education, to receive professional certification in teaching high school math, and to start a viable robotics program.
This new year is all about my own health and well being. I want to take fun exercise classes, like hooping, but I might try zumba too, since I really love to dance and we haven't been going out much this year.
My poor little Bella is recovering from being hit by a car, but this was a huge unexpected expense, and it will take time for me to recover financially, but it is important to me to continue to pay off some longstanding debt.

5. What was the biggest change in your life over the last year?
2010 was a year of big change for me...starting a new job within my company that required learning a whole new set of skills....my relationship with Scoote...moving to Florida....buying a house (with Scoote)....ending my relationship with my sister and another toxic individual who had been sucking me dry emotionally for several years...and that's just the big stuff!
6. Do you like cheese?
Yes, especially my son's cheesy grins.
7. Did anyone new come into your life over the last year?
Well...Scoote came into my life in 2009, but our relationship changed signficantly in 2010.
8. What are you most thankful for over the last year?
Wow...most thankful? I've had a year full of blessings...a good relationship, a new home, no snow to shovel, continued stability with my diabetes, doing well at a new job, surviving several rounds of layoffs, less negative drama, my son doing well at his new school with honor roll and Odyssey of the Mind....so many things! :)
9. Will you make any New Year's resolutions this year? If yes, what?
Yes...to complete coursework to earn my Project Management certification, to take Scoote and the boys on a truly nice vacation, to improve my finances by paying down debt and increasing savings....and to follow through on that neglected 2010 resolution...and get in better physical shape.
10. Name one new thing that you plan to do in 2011.
Ummmm.....can't think of a thing.
2011 was tough year...the hardest I've had in a very long time...with my mother's cancer, tremendous stress at work and relationship changes....it's like my life got turned upside down and shaken.
In the end, it has all turned out....my son is doing very well....my mother is making progress and we are having time to basically say a very long goodbye...and my health is better than it has been in a decade.
The end of the year has taken a brighter turn...despite the ongoing challenges...and I have high hopes that 2012 will be an excellent year.
So.....for the coming 2012:
1. Did you make any New Year's resolutions last year? If so, what?
* Yes, to get my Project Management certification, to improve my finances, to take a nice family vacation and to get in better physical shape.
2. Did you keep your resolutions?
* Mostly....I received my MPM certification in the mail just yesterday....the PMP (the gold standard in the industry) will be this spring. My finances are shot. We did some weekend trips and had a week in the Bahamas, thanks to Scoote's work at Papa John's....and I've improved my health and lost 10% of my body weight even though I haven't exercised like I planned.
3. What is the biggest/most important lesson you learned over the last year?
* That I need to follow the flight attendant's instructions...and put on my own oxygen mask first before helping those around me. This is true in all of life...not just on planes.
4. What is one thing that you meant to accomplish but didn't?
* Financial stability....at this point more important than getting in shape.
5. What was the biggest change in your life over the last year?
* There were two...the end of a relationship that I thought was the forever one...and my mother's terminal cancer and the role I've needed to take as her caregiver.
6. Do you like cheese?
* Yes, and I would like a grilled cheese sandwich right now, please and thank you.
7. Did anyone new come into your life over the last year?
* Yes, several friends on the site who have been incredibly supportive and helpful....several new work colleagues....and someone who makes me smile and laugh and feel like myself again.
8. What are you most thankful for over the last year?
* That hope is eternal....and life finds a way. And...that my son is doing beautifully and growing into a truly good person I'm proud of every day.
9. Will you make any New Year's resolutions this year? If yes, what?
* Get my finances repaired and stable again. Continue with my new eating patterns to continue to improve my health. Continue my career growth by getting my PMP designation. Build friendships and keep them dear. Let myself be cared for the way I care for others.
10. Name one new thing that you plan to do in 2012.
* Be on the top of someone's list.

Reviving this thread for this New Year!
1. Did you make any New Year's resolutions last year? If so, what?
Nope.
2. Did you keep your resolutions?
See above.
3. What is the biggest/most important lesson you learned over the last year?
Dyke bikers are the best, most supportive people on earth.
4. What is one thing that you meant to accomplish but didn't?
Finish and rent out that studio apartment on the ground floor of my house.
5. What was the biggest change in your life over the last year?
Getting hit by a car in April 2011.
6. Do you like cheese?
I loooooooove cheese! I look forward to being able to eat it again in my next life. For the remainder of this one, I'm happy to watch others eat cheese. If we go out to dinner together I hope that you will order something with cheese so I can watch.
7. Did anyone new come into your life over the last year?
I think so. This may be what they call 'dating'.
8. What are you most thankful for over the last year?
Not ending up in a wheelchair, or worse, as a result of getting hit by a car in April. There were 9 breaks to my lumbar spine, including 4 breaks in L5. I had no spinal chord injury, which seems impossible. Or miraculous. Or both. Even more miraculous, because nothing was displaced, spinal surgery was not necessary. My pelvis was shattered, but the doctors put it back together beautifully. My broken ribs didn't puncture my lung. My broken hand healed perfectly, which is important when you're a professional sculptor. My femur was not broken, which seems impossible when the extent of the soft tissue damage in my thigh became known. My bones are strong, and writing that I was fortunate seems like the world's biggest understatement. My body produced a huge adrenaline surge that carried me through months of aggressive PT. I healed as fast as a teenaged athlete. No, I'm not exaggerating. I was dragging my knees around the track for two glorious track days in August, just four months after I got hit. (I was between surgeries.) My friends took care of my needs before I even knew I had them, (see #3). To top it all off, even though I've had a few setbacks, I'm going to get 100% function back by late winter of 2012, just as I said I would. Not 90%. Not even 98%. I will absolutely get 100% back. Period. And I'm still financially solvent. That's its own miracle, and I never take it for granted.
9. Will you make any New Year's resolutions this year? If yes, what?
Nope.
10. Name one new thing that you plan to do in 2012.
Buy a new race bike!

KindA excited that I am already making good on several New Year's resolutions in the form of:
*stopping smoking
and
* starting to plow through the literally THOUSANDS of CD's that are piled all over the office that contain anything from random music to photos to pieces of writing.
I dumped 40gig worth of shit from my hard drive today backed up everything I own so I can fill it back up again with my new found "treasures" :)
