I came home yesterday to three cards! I received cards from StilletoDoll and Blaze, StoryOfMyLife and DiamondRose! I loved the Hello Kitty card, it goes very well with my Hello Kitty iPhone case! The Winnie the Pooh card was cute! Doll and Blaze, the rise soap was cute and it made the card smell very good!

Here's what I remember.

Someone wrangled a list. I'll volunteer because I have my list from last year.

Unless someone else wants to do that. :D

You sign up and get the list of everyone else. It can be REALLY BIG (I sent out close to 50 cards).

You get a lot of cards back.

You are not allowed to feel guilty if your cards are late. You are not allowed to feel smug if your cards are early. LOL You may have a small moment of yee haw if your cards are exactly on time. SSWA

Cajun_Dee may have other things or others may since I just participated last year (highly unusual for me since I send b'day cards out three months late if at all.)

The whole concept of the card exchange came from someone I knew, who was in the service, and the only thing she received on Christmas was one card, from a kid who got the address from a website. She said that the card was the most wonderful gift she had ever received, a simple card.

One day we did a postcard exchange, a simple postcard from your neck of the woods, that was a blast, maybe we can do that again after the season. Connecting like this is a wonderful thing to me. I elect Arwen to handle that list, too. :)

SOOoooooo if the spirit moves you, maybe send out a card or two to people in less fortunate situations than we, while you are at it. Our patients at the head injury unit loved getting random cards, because sometimes they are out of site and our of mind, forgotten. They would display every card on the mantle not even knowing who the card came from. Some of them it was the only thing they received, from anyone. One card.

Anyway, that was the spirit of the project.

I want to "apologize" to all of you....in advance...my head has been overloaded...and I am having double major surgery this Friday AM...two procedures back to back...and I am to be at hospital at 500am Fri. I will be in hospital for 8 to 10 days..I have malignant colon cancer and some early stages of cancer in female organs.....I am stressed beyond all belief..on so many levels...I want to get cards to send out but it will be after this is all over...and I am so very sorry..I feel like I have let you all down..as everyone is looking forward to their cards to enjoy..rightfully so...I have been in doctor's and specialists offices 3 and 4 days a week for the last 4 weeks...and some days I am gone from home 8 to 10 hrs...:(. Anyway I am hoping to get the cards out ASAP after I am home and recouped some...please know I heart you all..and I am sorry...Clay

lol...silly...thanks...hope your mouth gets better soon..and thanks for understanding. I should NOT have even signed in to do the cards.,..I was floored when I got that diagnosis of cancer...and my whole world has been upside down...as I am seeing TWO different oncologists...2 hrs form where I live..so when I have to go and see them..both on differing days...it is an all day jaunt...and I am worn out..my energy levels have dropped..I have had a biopsy, TWO colonoscopies, and several CT Scans, xrays, bloodwork, EKG's all done so close together..throw in all the doc visits..my own Int. Med. my ortho, my gastro, and then these two specialists..whewww...it is all I can do to keep myself straight..thank gawd for countyfem coming to be with me til after first of year...she is a pure joy and a huge blessing for me..and I now have a very best friend...smiles...hugs and take care..Clay (hay.clay) hahahhaHey Clay,

thanks, Arwen...I didn't initially BUT through being so richly blessed, countyfem is here...got here Monday and will be with me til after first of year..she gave up her family's Christmas to come and be with me..so I wouldn't have to go through this alone.....and I have a very special, wonderful bestest friend for life. She has made me laugh and kept me distracted thru this all...along with Debby...and all the other wonderful folks here...we truly ARE family...I have seen this firsthand...she will post an update sometime later Friday on the cancer thread...so peeps will know when I am out of recovery. She will be with me around the clock in the hospital...another friend in Savannah will get my lil dachshund tomorrow might and keep her the week as well..as we have to leave my apt. at 200am to be at hospital by 500am..I am first case that morning....again, I apologize...to all of you...I am so sorry..:(

Pajara's right, Okiebug. There are a couple of different lists going on throughout the whole site. I think I have about 70-75 cards to get out on here plus my family and off site friends, so yeah, about 100 sounds pretty accurate for me too.

When I got back from the post office I thought I might as well tidy up my car. I found my first print-out of the exchange list. Instead of throwing it out I brought it in the house and compared it to the 2nd exchange list print-out. Apparently I missed 1 person.

So - - off to the post office again!

I love all my cards! My wee nephews asked me why i got so many cards when his mom and grandma only got a few. So we talked about how to get, one must give. And that sometimes, traditions are really important not to give up. I pulled out a card from long ago, one my momma sent me. I told him that was from his great grandma and that he was the last child in the family she had seen born before she passed away.

WOW! Simply WOW! My mailbox was running over yesterday when we got home....I had two huge piles of cards from some awesome folks.....and I ENJOYED every one of them...thanks so much....for ALL of your cards, kind words, wishes, and support of me......I heart YOU ALL!
Opening 35 cards was the BESTEST for me...better than Get Well Cards...
and each and every one of you WILL get a card from me...it will just be later....:). I thank each fo you for understanding the difficulty and hardships I face right now....:(....BUT everey card and every word was better than any medicine...it was like sitting in a huge room in a coffeeshop..with all of us in one room...all smiling, giggling, eyes dancing, as we animatedly opened and treasured every precious gem.....ahhh I am so richly blessed...by EACH ONE OF YOU....xoxoxooxoxoxo....my love always...Clay

Thank you so much to all the wonderful people who have sent me cards, I've received so many! What with taking care of my mom, the break up between me and D, my out of town Christmas trip, and going to a new therapist to get a divorce, I simply didn't get any cards sent out and I apologize. Perhaps next year I'll be better settled and be able to get my cards out on time :)

At a Christmas Dinner I went to the couple used placemats made from old Christmas cards. Pictures were cut out in two different size circles, colored contact paper on the back and clear on the front, and overlapping edges made into placemat size.

Awwwww, that brought back some great memories for me!! I used to make those placemats with my nana. You could also make them into ornaments if there are any that are particularly pretty or have nice glittery scenes on them. :)

If I recycle them, I will either turn them into gift tags for future use OR cut them in half at the fold, send the "pretty" side to the school for art class and discard the side with the sentiment and personal info.

i burn old cards, sometimes I will use part of them for gift decorating..or save them for a while..

Burning them sends the energy back into the Universe, as I throw them in i re-read each one and send out a lil something into the flame with them for each person. Sorta like cleansing by fire.

I have three ideas.

1. Make a page for memory book or keepsake with parts of the card and signiture and year.

2. Get a frame or shadow box to do the same with the cool parts arranged and add to it each year.

3. collectively add to a sign or frame for the re-ubion to show soe of the cool things this thread has done for others and how the planet comes together.
