Disclaimer:
this in no way insinuates that I am participating in the way too early, shoving Christmas down our throats, commercialization of something sacred craze that goes on. This is simply a way to spread a word of peace amongst our community and those who may enjoy receiving some holiday cheer.
I would like to start a thread for those folks who want to exchange Holiday cards. .Also if some would like to just do email cards thats fine too. Remember some people live across the pond and postage is more, which is fine with me so please include yourself! If you know of any organizations that would like to receive cards lets include them too.
Ok so whats the best way to do this? Start a list ? Any elves out there have any ideas?

What about a gift exchange? Maybe have people say they want to be included, have those names put into a hat by someone from the site and draw names? Just another idea but I would *LOVE* to exchange xmas cards :D

Maybe we should start a list and what we want to do, we can gather addresses in a few weeks of people want to send something to ourselves because it is WAY too much work otherwise...

ok this sounds like fun.....can they be snail mail ones? I love the old fashioned snail mail,,the anticipation of the arrival,,the carying it in form the mailbox all excited,,,the opening of the envelope,,,reading the card,,,and then flippin it over to see......(nobody looks for hallmark,,they look for the price) and then placing it up on the fireplace mantle...
just cant b e beat....

Count I had a blast last year, in fact was looking forward to the mailman for once! I also still have your card from last year, stuck to the side of the fridge to remind me what to buy for the recipe on it ;)

Please copy and paste this list and add your name or make changes.. I will try to keep up but my satellite connection isn't consistent.
Also you will need to PM the people on the list you want to exchange with.
That way you pick and choose who gets your address or email addy.

Sassy you are awesome:) ...... the first time you did this it was so great ....I believe I was still sick and my son went to buy cards . I was horrified what he will buy .... it was better than I expected .

I love the idea of a holiday card exchange and have done a few over the years. Sometimes they work out wonderfully. However, I think a gift exchange may not be the best idea as a lot of families are struggling to provide gifts for each other, much less someone they may enjoy but really don't know much about. But for those members who know each other in r/t or really well through the internet, I'm sure they will do some sort of a gift exchange on their own. :)

Last year it wasn't the issue of gathering emails, snailmails, composing a spreadsheet, listing ALL the info and emailing it to everyone on the list, and re-emailing it..... it was the issue of this one not wanting their address to go to that one.. and some not wanting to exchange cards with this one. So they had to be removed from this list before it was sent to that one.. blah blah blah :toothache:
While I can understand that issue I really don't want to be responsible for sending out info that someone does not want to share.
So this way we are responsible for who we give what to.

I assume she will appear and have everyone form a line to the right and offer their info to her. I am sure she will be selling this list to some marketing firm in Tunisia but its a risk we all take.

Last year it wasn't the issue of gathering emails, snailmails, composing a spreadsheet, listing ALL the info and emailing it to everyone on the list, and re-emailing it..... it was the issue of this one not wanting their address to go to that one.. and some not wanting to exchange cards with this one. So they had to be removed from this list before it was sent to that one.. blah blah blah :toothache:
While I can understand that issue I really don't want to be responsible for sending out info that someone does not want to share.
So this way we are responsible for who we give what to.
So, some folks had their knickers in a bunch, huh?

thanks for posting list ....I was not specific when I sign up . I would love to do a snail mail ... last year was so great to running to the mailbox and receiving all the nice cards . However , for me I am fine with whatever it's comfortable for anyone on the list . This will be great again :)

Vlasta, if you read up a few posts, you will see that Diva has been kind enough to volunteer to gather all of the participants mailing info into one convenient listing (knowing her, it's probably in Excel and everything). I do know it's alphabetized because that's how Diva rolls.
Some may wish to not participate with everyone else or only with a very select group of people, and if that is your choice, you are welcome to it, but I'd suggest getting your info to Diva since she has many more participants already to go and who doesn't like getting MORE cards, right?

Yes , I would really like to do my own thing . I haven't been around for a long time.... many names I am not familiar with the person and some are even terrified to give me they address , not even knowing me personally from me being too trustful in the past .
Just to clarify to me it's a personal thing , if I send you a card and wish you Happy Holidays, I want to do it on my own .... I wouldn't feel right to be given addresses then sign my name , slam a stamp on and go to the mailbox .For me it's too impersonal .
I send PM's to all the people on the list even knowing from some I will not get reply , but it was the common courtesy to give people in the same forum an option if they would like exchange a holiday card. If not it's perfectly ok , because I am not trying to push myself on anybody .

There is a huge number of soldiers who need emotional support this time of year at Walter Reed. There was a poster board on every floor at NIH when my sister was there, asking for folks to send Christmas cards. So please, if you can send one, two, or a dozen - it does help.

I'm very excited for this card exchange! I NEVER get christmas cards in the mail! So im very excited, especially since the holidays are a little sad for me this year, its the first year I wont get to spend it with my parents and my sister.
These Christmas cards will be extra special now....I just found out this morning, that my daughter (who lives in Ann Arbor) won't be able to come home for Christmas....
So, while ~ like Logicaly ~ I was incredibly excited for this Holiday Card Exchange, NOW I am incredibly THANKFUL for the cards coming my way....

Thanks for your interest in the holiday card exchange. If you were able to read down a few posts from what you quoted, you would see that the first of December was the deadline to sign up on our mailing list that was distributed already.

Ok White Tigress and I went out to the post office today. We sent out just about all the cards and Christmas presents going out to my family. Cards and shipping ,insurance all came to $60. Then she went and early voted, we had breakfast at IHOP. Then on to do more Christmas shopping for her niece and nephew and 2 Angel tree kids. We got a little 1 yr old girl that wanted a baby doll and blouses and pants 12-18 mo, and a 4 yr old boy that wanted Spider man toys.
What they got was a Cabbage patch doll,fleece jacket,4 pant and shirt out fits and a pair of Tinkerbell PJ's and a Tinkerbell fleece blanket.
He got a Spiderman zoom N go four wheeler,Spiderman action figures Spidey PJ's and a car's fleece blanket. I told WT that every child needs to have their own blankey. There just isn't hardly anything Spiderman any more. Its all Transformers.
Anyways we had fun shopping all day together.

This is a great idea... please let me know how to obtain the list and how each person would like the card... via e-mail or the good ol fashion way (which is how I love it myself).
This way PostalBoi will still have a job and anyone else who's in the postal business.

HA! I have you beat. Years ago, I used to work for a Southeastern-based book store and, with the after holidays discounts and my employee discount, I bought so many cards that some of you will be receiving cards that were produced YEARS AGO!

Morningstar ... I was joking about translator.com ... however , majority these translating websites do not translate well . They are helpful if you know language somewhat . Some people were kind and trying to send me emails in my native language and they used babelfish .... I understood what they were trying to say , but it was incorrect . Just the same with my written English .... we speak backwords and therefore if I would try translate from my language to English it reads worse than I write .

The other night, Timber and I bought our holiday ornament, for our second Christmas together, at the Hallmark store. I'm old fashioned like that, and I buy ornaments to commemorate those years together. I did it for all the years I was with my son's dad, and the kiddo has inherited all of those ornaments, to pass along through his family.

My cards are going to be late. All the Christmas cards I had were ruined when we had the flood, yesterday. Here is my status update that I posted on FB:
We had a major pipe freeze in the ceiling which caused an ankle deep flood and the ceiling to collapse in our apartment complex yesterday. Major mess going on. No water for 20 hours, heat is escaping out the non existent ceiling, and water damage every where. Thank God I got the call after my last final finished. This is a mess.

Through all of this... I am thankful I have my g/f by my side. It has proven to me that the two of us can get through anything together. I need to run... much to do, but needed to make sure my power cord of my computer wasn't fried. So much stuff was water logged... I am grateful the computer is still working. Let this be a reminder to everyone! Make sure you have renters/home owners insurance!!!

We are ok... we were not here when it started, although the ceiling continued to come down once we got home. It is taking a lot of hours to get the water out and the damage cleaned up. Some things were lost (like my Christmas cards), but I just went out and got some more. Working on testing all the electronics, and letting the furniture dry out. Have several more loads of laundry to do. The bedding, and slippers, clothes, robes etc were all soaked. Going to have to figure out how to dry out the rugs, and living room furniture. My chairs are covered in insulation, water and asbestos. Yuck! I will work on getting cards out later this week (I hope). Thank you to those of you who have sent cards here. They are appreciated.

Try taking your rugs outside and let them air dry and get a steam cleaner to see if you can get most of the mess off of your furniture. I am sorry to hear about this and the apt complex hurries up to fix your apt.

We had a major pipe freeze in the ceiling which caused an ankle deep flood and the ceiling to collapse in our apartment complex yesterday. Major mess going on. No water for 20 hours, heat is escaping out the non existent ceiling, and water damage every where. Thank God I got the call after my last final finished. This is a mess.
Eeek. No worries. Clean up the mess. We're adults and will be just fine. :)
You have bigger fish to fry than sending me a silly card, Surayna.....so please don't worry about it, ok? I hope the cards You get from the rest of us do a little bit to lift Your spirits!

Get yourselves some masks while cleaning that stuff up; that stuff is not anything to play around with. Luckily, this happened when the air is drier so you won't have mold issues to deal with too.

Okay, I am going to apologize right now... If there are any back-wards letters on your cards. I tried extra hard to concentrate on making the alphabets facing the correct way. Sometimes the dyslexic kicks in and I make mistakes. So if any of you do get a card with letters backwards, I'm sorry. At least I tried! I wish I had manual spell check, lol. For the past week it's been an adventure each day finding a card or two, sometimes more, in the mailbox at the end of the day. I haven't opened any yet, I'm saving them up for Christmas morning, as a present to myself so to speak. I have 38 xmas cards to send out to people between three of My butch femme websites (its alot I know), and with the price of stamps to the U.S. (all but one card is being sent to the States) I will be paying almost $40 to send all of them out.
Right now, with My hours being cut back due to personal reasons, I just can't afford it. I can send some out, maybe half, but not all so some will have to wait until the end of the month. I know that everyone who will get theirs late will understand, but I just feel terrible about it :watereyes:
Anyone that I can't send out just yet, I'll let you know otherwise I will send out as many as I can tomorrow :thumbsup:
