Although I love Adam Sandlers
Wanna grow old with you.

This is the song I would like to walk down the aisle to.

This is for our commitment ceremony that will take place next October. The songs are both meaningful to us, so we incorporated them.

To walk down the aisle:

Debbie Gibson: Lost In Your Eyes

http://youtu.be/8Ms3mJFkSeg

For the first dance:

Faith Hill: Breathe

http://youtu.be/yCmsZUN4r_s

We're trying to figure out something special and upbeat for the conclusion of the ceremony. Any suggestions?

My sister had this as her wedding song, back in 1977, when she married her high school sweetheart, Andy. And yes, she had it as recorded by the great Barbra Streisand. I still think it is the best wedding song, ever. (f)

So this, in honor of my big sister, my best ally and my best friend. :winky::awww:

We had some great music in our wedding mix, but some of my favorites:

m6pW_q1PvH0

cl88QEll-Xc

This one was played as we left the minister after being married (a surprise to me by my love):

Ux2WXNsqfe8

And our introduction to the dinner party as a married couple:

uSD4vsh1zDA

And our first dance song (We had a live band, and they did a great job with this one):

D6xb_ddP4nM

We had a wedding music mix, a cocktail hour mix, a dinner mix and then the live band after dinner. It was a magical afternoon/evening and I wouldn't change a thing,,other than maybe going back and doing it again!!!

As a professional singer, I sang probably over 1,000 weddings in my lifetime.......I sang some real crap. I sang very little real music.......from Purcell's "Sound the Trumpet" to "Good Ship Lollipop" (I kid You NOT!)...........

So I KNOW that if I ever get married, my music will NOT be what's "in" or "hot" or "on the charts". I will choose ~ HOPEfully with the help of my partner ~ something meaningful, unique and memorable. Mushy crap is not an option.

I know.
Surprise, surprise!

God Gave Me You
Bryan White

For all the times I felt cheated, I complained
You know how I love to complain
For all the wrongs I repeated, though I was to blame
I still cursed that rain
I didn't have a prayer, didn't have a clue
Then out of the blue

God gave me you to show me what's real
There's more to life than just how I feel
And all that I'm worth is right before my eyes
And all that I live for though I didn't know why
Now I do, 'cause God gave me you

For all the times I wore my self pity like a favorite shirt
All wrapped up in that hurt
For every glass I saw, I saw half empty
Now it overflows like a river through my soul
From every doubt I had, I'm finally free
I truly believe

God gave me you to show me what's real
There's more to life than just how I feel
And all that I'm worth is right before my eyes
And all that I live for though I didn't know why
Now I do, 'cause God gave me you

In your arms I'm someone new
With ever tender kiss from you
Oh must confess
I've been blessed

God gave me you to show me what's real
There's more to life than just how I feel
And all that I'm worth is right before my eyes
And all that I live for though I didn't know why (didn't know why)
Now I do (I finally do), 'cause God gave me you (God gave me You)

God gave me you

The song for my first dance was Etta James At Last.

Then for the last dance of the night I was lucky enough to have Mutt Lange first wife (before Shania Twain ;) Stevie Lange do a remix of Joe Cocker's You Are So Beautiful.

That was a looooong time ago. But nice to remember the memory one more time.

In 2003 I was married in New Orleans by Reverend Tony in the French Quarter Wedding Chapel. Our witnesses were two strangers pulled in off the street- one of them was that Lord Chaz vampire guy who does the haunted tours and the other was an old saxaphone player who played the Theme from the Pink Panther when I walked down the aisle.

We had been together for seven years before that, but we didn't make it two as a married couple. A few years after the divorce my ex gave me a copy of Mancini's Greatest Hits on our anniversary (the joker).

To Get Me To You
Lila McCann

Well I, I still can remember times
When the night seemed to surround me
I was sure the sun would never shine on me
And I, I thought it my destiny
To walk this world alone
But now you're here with me
Now you're here with me

And I don't regret the rain
Or the nights I felt the pain
Or the tears I had to cry
Some of those times along the way
Every road I had to take
Every time my heart would break
It was just something that I had to get through
To get me to you
To get me to you

Well I, I still can recall the days
When I had no love around me
Makes me glad for every day I have with you
And I, I look in your eyes and know
I'm right where I belong
And I belong with you
Always belonged with you

And I don't regret the rain
Or the nights I felt the pain
Or the tears I had to cry
Some of those times along the way
Every road I had to take
Every time my heart would break
It was just something that I had to go through
To get me to you
To get me to you

And if I could I wouldn't change a thing
Wouldn't change a thing baby
Because your love was waiting there for me
Waiting there for me baby

And I don't regret the rain
Or the nights I felt the pain
Or the tears I had to cry
Some of those times along the way
Every road I had to take
Every time my heart would break
It was just something that I had to get through
To get me to you
To get me to you

You For Me
Johnny Gill
It seems like forever
That I have waited for you
In a world of disappointment
On thing is true
God has blessed me
And he’s blessed you too
In a world of lonely people
I’ve found you.

Take my hand
And hold me close
And don’t let me go.
You for me
And me for you
Together we’ll make one

We were once strangers
All by ourselves
Living, living alone
With no one else
But here we are
And it’s so, so sweet
God must have done this
Made you for me
And oh.

Take my hand
Hold me close
Don’t let go.
You for me
Me for you
Together we’ll make one.

We were always sleeping
On the first thing we’ve start
Dreaming, dreaming some love
Wondering where you are
How blessed I am
That I’ve found you
Now that you’re here
I pray to say “I do”
Oh.

Someone posted recently about doing the Hustle in our club days.

Yes, I am going to admit this. I was one of those club closers who always had to get out there and do the Hustle for the last song of the night, me and the entire bar.....

In those days, same sex marriage was a pipe dream, but I always thought this would be a fun way to end my wedding reception.

I went to UTube to see if I was remembering it correctly.:sunglass: NOT SO MUCH!

I think if I am ever fortunate to experience a wedding (marriage) again, I would like it very much if most of the music came from a classical genre:

Bach (Air on the G String), Mozart (Lacrimosa), and several others by Rachmaninov, Grieg, and Beethoven.

Of course it goes without saying that if that special someone I enter into marriage with wishes to have other types of music played, I am sure we would come up with a beautiful playlist of music we both would enjoy hearing. Like, our song... and other songs we like, things of that nature.

"Tread softly" (kinda a Mennonite tradition)
"Oh Perfect Love" (also a Mennonite tradition)
"Beethoven's Ode to Joy" (my most favorite piece of music, ever)
"The Battle Hymn of Love" (the words say it all)

Battle Hymn of Love

I will pledge my heart
To the love we share
Through the good and the bad times too
I'll forsake my rest
For your happiness
'Til my death I will stand by you

With God as my witness
This vow I will make
To have and to hold you
No other to take
For rich or for poor
Under skies grey or blue
'Til my death I will stand by you

There are wars and there are rumors
Of wars yet to come
Temptations we'll have to walk through
Though others may tremble
I will not run
'Til my death I will stand by you

I will put on the armor of faithfulness
To fight for a heart that is true
'Til the battle is won, I will not rest
'Til my death I will stand by you

With God as my witness
This vow I will make
To have and to hold you
No other to take
For rich or for poor
Under skies grey or blue
'Til my death I will stand by you

'Til the battle is won
I will not run
'Til my death I will stand by you
