So i'm always on the outlook for wonderful make up,
I've tried everyting from high end to drug store cosmetics.
I must say my addiction is the perfect mascarra,
so here is a place to share your best finds, what works, what doesn't.
C`mon ladies share your scores and secret beauty tips.
I'll go first after years of trying to find that just right mascarra
I think the fit for me is Falsies by Maybelline,
It does plump and lengthen the lashes without that nasty
crumbs dropping everywhere.

I love DiorShow for mascara:

But also love Voluminous for a cheaper version (although this one does dry out quicker meaning you have to buy a new one about every month):

I love, love, love the look of deep black lashes and started wearing L'Oreal's Voluminous Carbon Black - waterproof of course. Unfortunately by the end of my workday it migrates below my lower lashes and I'm sportin' the raccoon look.
The only mascara I've found that will not do this to me is also from L'Oreal - Double Extend in blackest black.
I also found an amazing eye liner 24hour wear, waterproof, smudgeproof - Kiss 24 Hour Luxury Eye Liner also in blackest black. It's a twist-up; I just adore it and buy 3 or 4 at a time because I'm afraid it will be discontinued.

I used to wear their lipstick until my shade was reported to be the one with the highest lead content.
Am now in search of the perfect red - a very clear red with no undertones. It has to be creamy, long lasting, non-bleeding and smudgeproof. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be grateful.

GAH! - Is THAT what happened to MAC? I used to spend literally hundreds of dollars a year on cosmetics and brushes, etc. with MAC and I noticed a distinct decline in the quality.
I still think that Viva Glam I is the most perfect red in the whole wide world and wear it religiously (my signature color for almost 10 years)

I haven't had any flaking problems, and so far I've only tried the one I posted as I tend to go with the violet family for lip color. It stays as well as most lipsticks, worth a try.

The best stain I ever had was one purchased at a health food store back in the 90s. It was vegan and lasted for days - so help me. Alas, I can no longer find the stuff.

Yeah, its a shame what happened to MAC's quality.
I miss the old MAC. I still havent found another brand that compares to their lipstick.
I now use a few other brands that I love. Rock & Republic, Shu and Dior.

Ruby Woo is a matte.
So the staying power is amazing. And, I love that if I want really glossy lips I can put a red or clear gloss over it.
I usually stay with the matte look of it with false eyelashes and the winged eyeliner look.

I use a lot of MAC, Dior, Too-Faced and sometimes Urban Decay (for eyes). i have a bunch of Bare Minerals that my Granny keeps buying for me but I can't use the eye stuff because it flakes all over my face.
For the BEST retro colors and an amazing palate, I highly recommend BESAME cosmetics. The most AMAZING lipstick and eye colors on the market for retro faces!
I will also say that I kinda dig ULTA's house brand for blush and eye stuff too.
Shu Uemura for false eyelashes!
My super secret guilty pleasure is Guerlain. (Don't tell Jack!)

Had a tube of Just Bitten in Gothic follow me home tonight... very easy application, excellent colour. Feels really nice and the balm coat is really nice - they should sell that on it's own. I love that it's also easy to use as a liner first. Going to take a bit of practice but playing with make-up is something this femme adores!

So funny. I have an addiction to lipgloss. I like it so much more than lipstick because I like the way lipgloss brings out my eyes and it makes my lips look soft. Lately, I have developed an addiction to Lip Smackers and even the chap stick looks good because of that little shimmer.

The only actual lipstick that I can stand the feel of on my lips is Revlon, and they have a million colors. I too, prefer lip gloss - for the glossiness, of course.
My acttual all time favorite lip treatment is Bonne Bell red raspberry lip gloss. Nice dark red color, tastes good, and keeps your lips smooth and soft.

I got distracted by everyone talking about lipstick and posted about that. I actually got on here to talk about my "funnest" find of the last year or so. Hair Mascara!
It comes in a tube with an applicator like regular mascara. You hold out a strand of hair and then "paint" it with the hair mascara. You can spread it out further with a comb, or with your fingers. It dries quickly, and washes out completely (OFF YOUR HANDS TOO) I have pink and purple and have fun with it every once it a while. I found my colors at the dollar store.
Smooches,
Keri

I've been meaning to share this info here for a few days, but then would get busy and space it off. One of the things I'd always found very annoying about lipstick is that it would come off and I would have to reapply it frequently. Then both Revlon and L'oréal came out with lipsticks that actually last all day. Really last all day. They have to be washed or creamed off.
L'oréal's line is called Infallible (http://www.lorealparisusa.com/_us/_en/default.aspx#/#/?page=top{userdata//d+d//|diagnostic|main:pdp//objectid+Cos21f_1//{pdp_tab:pdp_overview//objectid+Cos21f_1//}|media:_blank|nav|overlay:_blank})
Revlon has two long wear formulas:
ColorStay Overtime (http://www.revlon.com/Revlon-Home/Products/Lips/Lipcolor/ColorStay-Overtime-Lipcolor.aspx)
ColorStay ULTIMATE (http://www.revlon.com/Revlon-Home/Products/Lips/Lipcolor/NEW-ColorStay-Ultimate-Liquid-Lipstick.aspx)

I'm finding the older I get, the less make-up I wear. I don't care for the harsh black ~ it's too much for me ~ and I DO look like a raccoon whether it drifts or not! lol So I wear a brown~black L'Oreal mascara that my daughter recommended. This one:
http://i467.photobucket.com/albums/rr37/emilypumpkinhead/LOreal_CollagenMascara.jpg
I find that a shimmery/glittery shadow tends to accent the wrinkles on my lids. I wear it anyway, but a matte color is really better.
Cannot STAND foundation.....It makes me feel as though my skin is smothered, I don't care how "light" they say it is.
L'Oreal true match blush is what I use.
My daughter also recommended Burt's Bees lip tint. LOVE it. Yes....You must reapply more often, but my lips are velvety soft all the time....You know, for all that KISSING I don't get. :|
And finally, my brows....UGH. When I lost Melody, I also lost a lot of hair. My brows never did fully recover. I find a pencil to be too harsh for me, so I use NYX cake powder..."for those movie star brows"... w.e. L'Oreal used to make Revitalist (same sorta product), but no longer make that. I used it because it looks more natural than a pencil.
God help me when I lose weight....my face will be one big wrinkle!!! :eyebat:

Diva,
I have to wear brown or brown/black mascara too because my lashes are long and strawberry blond and the black looks unrealistic on me. You talked about raccoon eyes, my problem is raccoon eyes and flaking. I have tried cheap and expensive mascara and still haven't found one I like and will stay all day. Do you have any flaking problems with this, and is it waterproof?
Thanks :)
I used to use Bare Minerals foundation for a long time but I decided it makes me look washed out and me using the Warmth to counteract that is hilarious, so I switched to Smashbox Halo powder. It is a solid powder that has a grinder/grater on it so you get the amount of powder you want every time and don't have to worry about it spilling all over the place. I like it alright, still not the greatest. I liked the coverage I got when I used Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet foundation but I stopped because when it got warm out it ran off my face. Yuck.
Needless to say, I am always on the hunt for a good foundation for combination, pale skin and a good mascara. Sephora should be paying me.

I know exactly what you mean about having to change foundation. That's how I ended up with my current make-up. I dearly miss Max Factor...used to use their pancake and panstick. They also had a wonderful 24 hour/waterproof foundation.
L'Oreal double extend mascara is the only one I have found that does not leave me with the raccoon look. It's not waterproof but it doesn't run either. It's the one that makes the little tube thingys on your lashes. I don't know about being able to find it in brown or brown/black though.

Kayso, finally, I am loosing the very significant amount of weight I put on after I quit smoking 8 yrs. ago and began eating, too much, too often!
Diva, you so called it regarding what happens to one's face when the pounds go:sigh:
Anyway, I appreciate the info about the Olay product. I've been using a couple of products in L'oreal's RevitaLift line. I think they are helpful. I guess overall, I've either been doing something right all along, or I just am fortunate in the genes department because no one believes me when I tell them how old I am going to be on my birthday in 2.5 months.
Infact, last night I went out with my daughter (33 y.o.) and a mutual friend to see the show Stomp, then to dinner. At the restaurant, a couple of folks thought my daughter and I were sisters. I think they need new glasses, LOL. Still...that was kind of nice to hear.

My mascara doesn't flake....someone asked about that earlier. I think it's waterproof, too. :|
One thing I forgot to mention that I use ~ at the end of my day when I've washed my face ~ is Olay Definity (http://www.google.com/images?q=Olay+Definity+night+cream&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&oe=UTF-8&rlz=1I7SKPB_en&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi&biw=1329&bih=595). It's not greasy feeling and I've come to even use it after my morning shower, too, because of that AND it has a little glisten to it which I find lovely.
All in all.....I'm of the thinking that I'm 58. I'm aging. My face and hands are going to wrinkle. I embrace it, but I'm not gonna let those wrinkles walk all over me without giving them a run for their (my) money! :eyebat:
There is a woman who lives across the street from me who is probably in her upper 80's.......her hair is white and her face is one big wrinkle.....but I find her to be one of the loveliest women I've ever seen.

Have not been using a base coat...thought there was one out there that was "sticky" so nail colour would "cling" to it...or was I dreaming?
I've been using "Faster" top coat by Rimmel but it seems to be chipping.
:4femme:
I have fallen in love with Seche Vite base coat and fast drying top coat! The shine is amazing and my home manicure is going on day 8 with one minor chip on my index finger (which I use a LOT as a tool for stuff).
I got mine at Sally's but I hear some of the drug stores are carrying it too.
I too was looking for a sticky base coat, but no more. The polish I used with it is China Glaze. Not sure how much that contributed to the longevity.

The new Maybelline super stay 24hr is
WONDERFUL
No flaking, stays on and comes in a huge variety of colors.:hangloose:
I would have to say that lipstick is my obsession...deep reds and shimmery browns...Revlon came out with a color stay gloss...they only have a few shades out now but god I am in love with them, they are part of the mineral collection...I can spend hours in the makeup isle much to hys dismay....oh well it takes time and money to look good!:hangloose:

Okay, my beautiful Femme sisters! I have been using a new face makeup product that rocks. It is by L'ORÉAL called MAGICSMOOTH Soufflé, makeup/fond de teint. It is part of the L'ORÉAL Studio Secrets line.
I love this makeup. It gives beautifully smooth and long lasting coverage. I especially like that I don't need to use powder over it. I watched several reviews before I spent my money on the product. Most of the reviews were very, very favorable. Below you'll find a nice comparison between the L'ORÉAL and a Maybelline product. The product is a bit more expensive than some others I've tried, but I think the product is worth the price. I do not use a makeup brush to apply the product. I use my fingers after I've washed my hands.
I've also been using a new mascara by L'ORÉAL called, Double Extend. I like this product a lot, as well.
BTW, thanks to those of you who recommended Olay's Regenerist line.

I may have missed it, but does anyone know of a black or dark brown liquid or cream eyeliner that will stay on my eyelids rather than migrate underneath them? I've been using that Smashbox cream liner, which goes on beautifully but doesn't stay put.
Ideally one I can find at Sephora, because that's where I'm headed after work. :)
I just read some great reviews/recommendations for this company in both product and price (some amazing deals, really)
www.eyeslipsface.com
In particular, these were the products that a bunch of women were raving about:
--studio matte eyeshadow
--makeup mist and set
--matte lip color
I haven't tried any of their products yet, but I do have some items already in the shopping cart!

I have very sensitive skin and I have tried so many different department store lines of makeup. The only one that looks fabulous and does not irritate my skin is Clinique's line of makeup. One of the other things I really like about their products is that they are light and do not look like I have tons of makeup on. A little of their foundation covers my skin perfectly and I absolutely love their Pink Chocolate lipstick. For my fingernails and toenails, I love Chanel's line of nailpolish.

Primer potion and the creame or liquid liner from Urban Decay won't budge.... :)

Yey, another makeup thread!
I just have to - have to - get on the soap box and brag about the new makeup brush sets I gots!
They're from sigma beauty, I got the essential set and the premium set, the premium set came with this cool zipper case that's huge but both sets fit in there. I had to have them. They are awesome.....!!! I want more...

I fell in love with Pur Minerals makeup. I use the powder foundation, it has Shae butter in it so my skin does not dry out and it leaves a nice dewy look to my skin. It is one of the only mineral makeups that does not settle into creases or rub off. My one true love is Loreal Volumnous maskara in Carbon Black(waterproof). That stuff will stay on in a hurricane!
Anyone know of a good lipstain? One that will stay on for a long time. Lipstick just melts off quickly so I prefer the stains, but some of those come off also.

Ever since I started wearing make up in the 8th grade many, many years ago, I have been looking for a foundation & powder that didn't look like I was "melting" after an hour. For the last 5 years I have been using Physicians Formula mineral make up even though I still had the same result. I had just given up.....Until recently. I have discovered Rimmel London products. Love it!! I use the Fix & Perfect Pro Primer, Clean Finish Matte liquid foundation, and Stay Matte pressed powder. I no longer look like I'm melting and at the end of a work day it still looks decent. Its cheap and I have love the results. Now, as for mascara...I love NYC Sky Rise in Extreme Black. I found it in the Dollar General for $2.00. I have bought everything from expensive mascara to the cheap Wet n Wild brand for .99 and the NYC one is fab for me. I'm gonna start buying a few extra to keep on stock pile in case they stop carrying it.

Best lip stain I've found is from Benefit. Benefit works like magic. I've used Urban Decay's tints and not been at all happy. I have also use Maybelline and been more happy tha UD and less happy than Benefit. The bonus of Benetint is it doubles as a cheek stain. :)

I use eyeliner by Almay (bronze) because my eyes need hypoallergenic products and it stays where I put it.
Burt's Bees lip tint is what I normally choose for my lips because it's organic, natural, and it feels good on my lips and is not messy -it wears well and is long lasting.
Red Dahlia is the latest shade I've been using. I bought like all the rubes they had in this shade because I hate to run out of good lip tint/lip balm.

Priming. Priming eyelids with Elf Eyelid Primer and my face with Elf Mineral Infused Face Primer took my make-up to the next level- it really kept my make-up from going wonky midday.
I was using gel-eyeliner, which is super bold and really stands out against my brown skin, but it kept transferring to my eyelid and making me look like I got punched in the eye. Then I discovered that if I patted on a bit of translucent powder, the liner could last up to 6 hours without running or fading a lot.
And of course, I couldn't live without my Japanese gyaru lashes. They really transform my eyes in a way that just mascara couldn't.

I have not long started using eye primer too, it makes quite a difference, I was impressed.
Anyone tried lip scrub...what did you think ? I use a lot of lip balm and wondered if this would be good or maybe a waste of money and I should just use my face exfoliater on my lips too.

Dont spend money on one, you can use a little sugar, honey, itty bit of olive oil to make your own. Every now and then, it feels really good and the taste isn't bad.

I haven't found an eye primer that I like, but I use this smashbox primer and it works really well. Even if you try really hard to sweat all your makeup off, it won't let you. :)

And this eyeliner is amazing. I received it in a birchbox and it's the best I've ever used. It works really well for tightlining your eyes (getting between the lashes).

I live less than 3 miles from a Sephora and a Ulta. So, I have tried lots of stuff. I used to love Bad Gal mascara but it's costly, so I have tried lots of different ones and found out that I really really like Covergirl Lashblast Fusion in blackest black. It's awesome, It's tied with my Loreal Carbon Black. NYX has a great undereye cover that has a peach color base(works much better that yellow coverstick to cover up under eye circles) and has vit E in it so it is smooth going on.
Also, I tightline now, but I put my mascara on first and then tightline. I can see where the dots of color have to go and it keeps me from overdoing the liner. I like the natural eye and red lipstick look they wore in the 40's. I don't use black eyeliner but those darn salespeople always look at my naturally black lashes and sable brown hair and try to get me to wear black. I am way too old to look that harsh. I use a grey/slate, a dark purple or black-brown. It makes my brown eyes pop!

Inika is basically the organic, vegan, cruelty free M · A · C and I am absolutely addicted to their products.
The mineral make-up - liquid and the powders - cover very well and the colors of the eyeshadows, lipsticks and eyeliners are so rich, they're very highly pigmented and once you apply them, they stay there. Inikas eyeshadows are actually the only ones I've used that do not accumulate in the creases, but stay on the lid the whole day. The lip tints and the blushes are fantastic as well.

Well, I actually do, but not online or anything. I am a cosmetician and I have my own salon (in Germany!), where I use the products when I give a client a make-up but I would never try to promote that on a place like this. Actually I decided to work with the brand because I am personally so in love with it. But there are lots of other brands I like, too. It's just very difficult to find something organic and vegan and of high quality.
Apparently my love for the products makes me sound like I'm advertising but that wasn't my intention and I'm sorry if it came across like that. I just really adore the products. ;)

Hahaha, yeah, that's the perfect way to put it! Honestly, ever since I discovered this brand, along with Lime Crime, I've been in heaven, make-up wise. I used to desperately try and find a cruelty-free alternative to the Maybelline Volum' Express The Colossal 100% Black mascara and failed miserably. Then I found the Inika one and I couldn't believe it! Not only is it all the things mentioned in my post above, but it's chock full of wonderful ingredients that pamper the lashes. As a professional that has always been an important aspect to me.
On the lip scrub: I used to have one in a stick, by The Body Shop but then got to try the lip scrubs by Lush. I am all for diy-ing things, but the popcorn scrub from Lush is just DELICIOUS.

:bigcry:
I was so happy with that powder as it worked just as well as my given-up-due-to-price Lancome dual-finish, for sixteen dollars less.
I am auditioning replacements. Does anybody on BFP love their powder?
