Okay, I'll start:

The Seattle Women's Chorus is among many talented groups of people performing before the Tree Lighting Ceremony (http://www.westlakecenter.com/Events/WESTLAKE-CENTERS-21st-ANNUAL-TREE-LIGHTING-CELEBRATION)at Westlake Center on 11/27, the day after Thanksgiving. Festivities start at 4:30 p.m. I just found out that my dad's chorus is performing as well. :)

Another fun thing coming up is the Great Figgy Pudding
Street Corner Caroling Competition (http://pikemarketseniorcenter.giving.officelive.com/figgypudding.aspx), which is happening Friday, Dec. 4th starting at 6 p.m. I'll be performing with the group called Ancora. We are usually located somewhere near the carousel in the square across from Westlake Center.

'Tis the season!

Hi Cara ! I love the Figgy Pudding Christmas Caroling Competition ! The streets are closed off and there are so many groups performing...the Westlake Tree is brightly lit and the Holiday Carousel is gorgeous. Not to mention the Macy's Star...it's magical and
beautiful...dont forget to run inside Pacific Place for the "snowfall" !

thanks for posting the date !

Since there was a bump... I have a question.

Is there anyone in the Seattle/Portland area interested in a Summer BBQ out toward the coast? I have a beautiful piece of property that is IDEAL for such a gathering and would love to host. I live just out of Aberdeen WA and have about 1/2 an acre of family friendly property with lots of space inside if the weather turns as well. We would also have access to the field across the street and the river.

Just thinkin...

Hey Seattle

Myself and a friend are flying out the end of September for the weekend. Just wondering what are the hot spots (bars) to go to? Will they also be with in either walking distance or a short cab ride from Madison St.? I think we will be staying some where on Madison St.

Any help??

I thought I'd see if anyone was planning to go to this show, or had some interest in it. It's produced by a femme who used to be in The Von Foxies. The show is September 2 and 3.

Strappie,

I am not from Seattle but we go there often. We don't do bars or clubs, but we enjoy the open air market Pikes Place Market, Seattle Art Museum, the Space needle, and the Experience Music Project. All of this is within walking distance of the piers and a ferry ride to an island or two! Fun times, enjoy!!

Saw this on the news and thought I'd pass it along -- Only in Seattle (http://www.onlyinseattle.org/).

From the website (http://www.onlyinseattle.org/):

Only in Seattle Sundays is giving you a great way to get out and discover what makes our city unique—and get some great deals while you’re at it. The last Sunday of each month, a different Seattle neighborhood will be hosting an Only in Seattle Sunday, with discounts and freebies at businesses and restaurants.

Fremont: 7-29-2012
Pioneer Square: 8-26-2012
Wallingford: 9-30-2012

The website has what businesses are participating and how to get the great deals - just in case you want to do something on one of those Sundays but have no idea what - or in case you all want to have a gathering on one of those dates. :winky:

Next Weekend!!!

Seattle Area BFP Picnic Potluck
Sat. July 28th
11 - 3 p.m. <-- Slight time change due to Torchlight activities and possible traffic
Location: Madrona Park

Look for the shelter area and outdoor picnic tables. I'm going to take a chance and not reserve them (fees involved) and hope I can snag a few tables early enough in the morning. bring a blanket our chair to sit on in case someone has them reserve. Look for a few signs or balloons in BFP pink and green! :)

Picnic potluck! Since I don't know how many people are planning to attend, please bring your own lunch and a small side or dessert to share.

The website says there are a few handicapped parking spaces available near the shelter. It is street parking, otherwise.

Everyone is welcome! RSVP here in the thread or PM me so I can gauge interest and keep track of y'all.

Everyone is welcome! RSVP here in the thread or PM me so I can gauge interest and keep track of y'all.

TOMORROW!!!

Seattle Area BFP Picnic Potluck
Sat. July 28th
11 - 3 p.m. <-- Slight time change due to Torchlight activities and possible traffic
Location: Madrona Park, 853 Lake Washington Blvd, Seattle

Look for the shelter area and outdoor picnic tables. I'm going to take a chance and not reserve them (fees involved) and hope I can snag a few tables early enough in the morning. bring a blanket or chair to sit on in case someone has them reserved. Look for a few signs or balloons in BFP pink and green! :)

I'm here! if you have charcoal, there is a little pit you can use to grill. the website didn't say that, so I didn't know. I have a couple card games and cookies! Everyone likes cookies, rigjt? So you should come to the picnic and have some! :)

Hey Cara - I meant to come - I was going to ride my motorcycle all the way down Lake WA Blvd (and I was going to bring cookies too lol), but this thing with my dog is taking up the better parts of each day for the next week with all the meds, paw soakings, warm compresses, etc. :(

But I hope everyone has a great time and with a little luck, I will be able to attend the next gathering. :)

Do a lot of us have dogs?

If so, we could have a dog and dyke play date at Magnuson dog park (http://www.seattle.gov/parks/offleash_detail.asp?id=398). We could hang out in the park &/or trek down to the beach (although that trek might be a bit far for me) - it is the only dog park in Seattle with water access ..... just a thought. :)

I've been meaning to take my FMD (Formosan Mountain Dog) to the dog park because my FMD is terrified of leashes and car rides, but I want to see if going with his BFF (my Boxer/Pit) will make it easier for him. :winky:

I like your idea, Parker. Thanks! Would you be willing to plan it? I don't have a dog and probably wouldn't attend because of that.

Christie, M.A. and I were thinking it might be cool to get together for brunch every 6 Weeks or so. How about we plan on meeting up somewhere on Sunday, August 26th at 11 a.m.? I'm open to ideas for locations because I don't know the areas restaurants very well.

What's the end of Oct beginning of November look like for everyone. Right now it looks like the last scheduled day I'll work till spring will be the 27th of Oct.

There are a few sporadic days between Oct and the end of the April but I doubt anything that will bring me back up to northern california tempting me to continue northward.

It says yreka ca to porland is 323 miles and seattle 496. Since LA is 640 I am definitely more than half way there from the forest!

If anyone else wants to bring their dog(s) on over to meet-up with us, we are meeting in the small/shy dog area, which is a separate enclosure to the right of the main entrance of the dog park. :)

I am bringing my new FMD pup, Sally, who is about 8mos old and about 20lbs - she does pretty well going outside of the house and meeting other dogs and this will be her first visit to a dog park ...... here she is (R) with my big boy (Boxer/Pit), Zeke (L) as they *patiently* wait for their bedtime treat. lol

still trying to figure it out ....

I work on the 12th and will have equipment to pick up on the 13th ...

one option is to drive up to newberg or and see portland peeps sat night and sunday and see if my uncle and aunt are available mon and tuesday.

then tuesday or wed 16th or 17th drive and find some campground in seattle vicinity be there til teh 20th or 21st then out to wenatchee til the 23rd and then drive back to the yreka area on the 23rd and 24th.

Other option is to drive up to bend or rufus or on the 13th and get to wenatchee on the 14th be there a couple days then go to the seattle area be there a few days then head back towards yreka getting there somewhere around the 24th

I figure once in seattle area i'll camp there a few days and do some day trips around the area

Hey folks -

We are having a brunch at our house this Saturday. Some of the BFP folks have already committed to coming, but we wanted to be sure that we didn't inadvertently miss anyone!

We live about a mile from Greenlake (just a lil north of Seattle proper) and are really easy to get to...

We are thinking 11ish and will be having some yummy goodness with some traditional southern breakfast fare. Its BYOB if you want a brunch cocktail and you can come in your jammies, if you prefer! We're pretty casual.

I will need a headcount by Saturday morning, please so that we can shop/plan accordingly. If you want to attend and have special dietary considerations, please message me so I can try to accomodate.

If you are coming, please message one of us so we can give you all the details!

Hey sorry about not posting the location, but we don't publicly post our address at this point. The reason we like RSVP is because this WAS NOT a potluck and we needed a head count because Christie is in the kitchen half the day and needs an accurate attendance. There will be more to come in the future!

Thanks to everyone who showed, it was a great time, with the addition of our gay chiropractor! We feel it is so worth the effort to open our home and have a place not in a bar or restaurant where we can get together. We are thinking about a BBQ or similar for next month..

Thanks! I certainly didn't expect you to put the address here. :) I just was bummed that I didn't see the posts in time. My mistake. But I've now subscribed so shouldn't miss it next time.

Glad you all had fun!

Soon I will have a car again and getting around town will be much easier. Glad the brunch was a success. Looking forward to more! :-)

Hello Everyone!!!!!

We are going to be in Seattle mid April (2014) ...

Would :heartbeat: to see some BFP peeps while there. :)

Looking forward to seeing an area that neither of us have ever been to.

We are also thinking of driving down to Portland, make a day of it.

:carride:

Happy Friday!!!!

Hi,

I'm new to this forum and I want to meet some real live Seattle people!

When/where can we make this happen?
