Do you have anything planned for a get away trip any time soon? Going to visit family (which includes who we view as family)? Driving?, Flying? How long has it been since you could go on a vacation?

Now that it has warmed up, I hope to do some RV road trips and camping, but these will all be for just a few days at a time here and there. Hopefully, I'll be in Bodega Bay by the end of next week walking the beach and having some of the fish n' chips there I love.

well, I am actually going to go to San Diago with a friend of mine. He is driving out there to see his mom and sister and doesnt want to go alone and I am the only person who doesnt work that he knows so come fall, if I am ok health wise, I get to go to California. MY SSDI will be in and I will have money to travel so it will be fun to go visit. I will get to see the grand canyon which I never got to see before. If I time it right, I can even get dropped off on the way back to the reunion!

I go to the beach every holiday weekend for about 4 days (Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day) and the beach other weekends too, throughout the summer. But, I always do this.

THIS year I (we) would really like to do some serious hiking, ziplining, and other more active things on a larger scale than in the past. Combining this with beautiful views including nice, twisty backroads for scenic driving would be perfect! If people have ideas of places to hit on the East coast for any of these activities, I am all ears! Seriously.

I also hope to head to Atlanta, Georgia to attend the WPATH symposium this year in September, but still need to find out about costs.

I keep thinking Morocco or Croatia this year. But I need to figure out who would babysit the six furry kids before I make plans.

I was contract for a few years with no paid days, this year I have 20 business days I can take off and have got to go SOMEWHERE! :)

In 15 hours (Yes, I'm counting) I'm leaving for Mexico. Renting a beach house for the week on the gulf coast of the Yucatan peninsula.

In June I have two work trips which I'll likely put some personal vacation around. First is Barcelona. I love, love, love, love Barcelona. I'll probably head over to Lisbon before or after. Then a couple weeks later there is a trip to Singapore. That's still up in the air, but I'd love to make a stop in Hong Kong or Manila on the way back.

There will be another vacation at some point in the fall. That will no doubt include some beach time.

There, I fixed it. :)

One has to wonder which you'd choose if there could only be one...

But both are on the calendar.

There is a distinct possibility I will be heading to Poland for work some time in the next 6 months.

Also on my calendar is Portland, several smaller cities like Memphis, Eureka Springs and Dallas, and later this year a sweet weekend in the mountains of Tennessee.

And also, don't forget to chat with the nice young men carrying Machine Guns at the check points. They love that. Especially if your Spanish is not good.

I plan on growing a mega garden this year, so no travel until LR in the fall except Seattle

5 chickens + 3 dogs = Traveling is more complicated!

I hear you! This has a lot to do with my doing mini-vacations. At $35/day, getting a house/pet sitter is expensive.

Ten days back in my home of Northern Ireland in the later part of this month.

West Coast USA for 9 days in late June ... starting off in San Diego and finishing in San Francisco but not 100% sure how my itinerary will work out inbetween.

Manila, Philippines in early Oct and onwards to Little Rock and then stay in States for a further week but not sure where yet.

Other than that, a few weekend trips back to Belfast to visit friends and family and, if I can find someone to go with, maybe a continental European city in mid-summer.

I'm reasonably fortunate as, especially by US standards, I get very good paid leave and, here in Europe, we get much more generous public holidays. Added to that, London is a major transport hub so easy to travel from.

I don't have any "long" as in many days type of plans. Due to the work I do, I have the entire summer off:-) So, far though, I have only one long weekend trip planned. That one is to go to Columbus, OH in June to see my "younger Femme sister", Johnny Weir, skate in the Skate for Hope (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Skate-for-Hope/246528927691) ice show. The show is a fund raiser for breast cancer support and research.

That is also the weekend of Gay Pride in Columbus:-) There will be a good many of Johnny's fans converging on the city. Most of us know each other via FB, and some of us have met before at other shows. Quite a few of us are Queer, and all who aren't are total allies. I expect that we will being going dancing at one of the Queer clubs the night before the show.

Other than that, I plan to spend a lot of time doing some projects in my back yard. Maybe a trip to Sun Valley, ID, if Johnny skates there again this summer.

Yeah, yeah...I admit that I am a fiend over Johnny Weir. Good interview here: YouTube - Facetime With Jeanne Beker - Johnny Weir Pt.1. I have been a fan of figure skating in general for a really long time and fan of Johnny for about 5 years. His ability and style of skating is completely unique. The way in which he melds his physical masculine strength with his feminine sensibilities on the ice reminds me of the style of Rudolph Nureyev's dancing. This last year in particular, having taken it off from competing, Johnny has been revealing more of his depth as a brilliant creative genius and totally fabulous Femme gay guy. The fact that I've had the opportunity to talk with him a couple of times, once being a very intense conversation about certain things we share related to our Queerness, has only served to endear him to me more. The second season of his show "Be Good Johnny Weir" will be airing on Logo TV (http://www.logotv.com/shows/be_good_johnny_weir/series.jhtml) starting this summer, I think. Right now, episodes from season one are being shown. The show was originally on the Sundance channel. The documentary about Johnny, "Pop Star on Ice" is the first episode in season one.

I'm going to New Orleans either in October or November or December.

I initially wanted to go in October, but I just found out that if I go from late November through early January I can get a pretty hefty discount from the hotel chain that my new job is at. (We're talking like $50 a night for a $200 room) (Mind you, the discount is pretty sweet the rest of the year, but it's twice as sweet from November-January)

So November/December is looking pretty sweet right now.

I haven't been "on vacation" since I went to San Diego in 2006. It's fucking time.

I would love to go on vacation. Haven't been on one since I went to Portland in 2001.

But...will not be in the cards anytime soon. Moving this summer and cannot take any of my 20+ days off from the new job for 6 months after I start (boooooooo!). I do have a conference I will have to attend this fall, not sure which one "the Man" is going to send me to, hopefully somewhere warm.

This coming week, I'm going to Houston to see Duran Duran in concert and do some sight seeing with my gf, I can't wait!

Some time this summer I'm lucky enough to take three more trips:
1: Chicago with one of my best friends
2: Las Vegas with my gf
3: Missouri to my timeshare with another friend

I guess you could call me a traveling fiend.

Duran Duran was very popular here in the Philippines during the 80's but I prefer Spandau Ballet. Actually, I've got a very big poster of Tony Hadley in my room during those times :)

In July I am taking my honey lamb and her parents (they are 90 and 86) on a tour of Detroit, MI and South Bend, IN for 10 days. HL's dad LOVES cars and so we are starting in South Bend (my home town) to visit the Studebaker museum as well as the Avanti museum and probably to meet my mom in the process (eeek!)

Then on to Detroit (where I lived for 20 years) to take a tour of the auto plants, go to the Henry Ford Museum and see the many many car attractions there. I love cars too so I have the great pleasure of hosting the rambling and organizing the festivities. I am very excited about it.

This is the first time I have introduced someone I have dated to my mom and certainly the first time I have introduced her parents. It feels like a big step.
I am really looking forward to showing my HL around my home town to see where I grew up. Also while we are there I am going to be overseeing the replacement of my grandma's headstone (she raised me ) and that will be a wonderful thing as currently there is a tiny marker and after the visit there will be a proper headstone.

We are driving from Houston, TX up to the north-lands, it should be an adventure.

I hope I get some good fishing in this year. I started fly fishing a couple of years ago and love it- but need to practice! Ocean salmon season began here this past week. Planning to do some of that. And I'll fish on my camping trips. Since it has warmed up, I am thinking of taking that trip to Bodega Bay in a couple of weeks.

You'll love Chez Panisse. I think I still have a couple of menus from when I was able to visit. I've been a fan of Alice Waters for about 20 years. It's amazing to be able to dine on the food created by legends.

In August I'm going to Germany for two weeks. I haven't booked my flight yet but uni gave me enough money back to book a cheap flight to Hamburg... so I'm determined. It won't be a long stay and I probably won't be able to make the long trip down to Bavaria where I used to live (would love to be able to make down there for nostalgia's sake but it'd be too expensive without a pass), but at least I'm going!

I'll mostly be spending my time in Schleswig-Holstein camping out at a festival with some friends and then probably doing some traveling around Schleswig-Holstein and Niedersachsen. I don't want to spend too much time in Hamburg because there's not much to do there, but maybe make it up to Lübeck (great city, first time I witnessed broad daylight in the middle of the night lol), over to Hannover and a few other places.

Really excited!

I am really excited for the Reunion of course, but that is a whole other thread! :winky:

I am hoping business picks up just a smidge so I can get my ticket booked to Ft Lauderdale for my break in September, right after Labor Day weekend. My sister, my best friend, and I are going to go down for a week and stay in my buddy's condo for free. We will buy food and cook most meals there....and it is only a stone's throw from the beach! When you sit on the balcony, you can see between the buildings across the street and the sand and waves are right THERE! I am stoked to go lay on the beach and do NOTHING....NO studying, NO drama, NO computers, NO work, and I will be there with 2 of my favorite people in the world!!

Once I graduate in March 2012, I plan on heading to Mexico to do nothing on the beach; then it is time to get a real job and start my new exciting life!! All at the ripe young age of 40!! :hangloose:

Ahhh, yes, the gayborhood! I have been there a couple of times, but it has been years. As odd as it may sound, I will be happy to be as far away from the queer crowd on my vaca! I want peace and quiet, and lots of time to spend with my sister and best friend. More than likely, I will be found either snorkeling, laying under a palm tree, finding seashells, or walking up to the pier. I need to hear the ocean and feel the sand between my toes. We are looking forward to Catalina in a couple of weeks (renting a house), and we are extending the trip through to the 2nd of May to go camping and fishing in our RV...we are taking a tent for the kids! Two adults, two teen girls, a dog and a cat are just a bit much, even in a nice size RV like ours...LOL:jester:

I am very curious and am compelled to ask, How much is it to fill up the gas tank on your RV?

Not sure, gas has never been quite this high ...probably $300 for the trip from Lakewood to lake Isabella and back...300 miles or so.

Heading out early Saturday morning for a week-long trip to the Smokey Mountains! Sooooo looking forward to the downtime with my beautiful wife! A good week is planned with a balance of a few planned/time sensitive events, but also plenty of time to do whatever we feel like doing at whatever time we feel like doing it. Three days and counting,,,

I’m planning my vacation to the Netherlands. If there is a superior cluster of people, it’s the Dutch. To have the opportunity and moral freedom to smoke hashish in public or maybe even pay someone for sex without the fear of the moral police whipping me with the proverbial cane of morality. Then force me to wear that scarlet letter – S for shame. I guess I’m a bohemian; definitely a sinner.
Seriously, I want to visit the birth place of some of my fav artists like Rembrandt, Vermeer, and especially Van Gough.
And the Anne Frank museum.

I got to thinking today that I would really enjoy/deserve to take the week of my birthday and maybe the week after to vacation at one of several places I rarely get to see but would LOVE to pamper myself at....

Warm Springs/Hot Springs VA....Berkeley Springs WVa (if the soaking pools are still open?)...Hot Springs NC and their Spa....(flip a coin....)....I'm tempted to find out if a week or two spent soaking frequently in "healing waters" would benefit my physical health as well as my spirit? ....I've heard many people talk of how mineral springs helped with deep tissue, nerve and immune system issues.

I think a little vacation for my birthday will be delightful...especially since there should be snow on the ground in the Virginia mountains while I'm soaking in Hot Springs?

Were going to do a cabin in the woods trip next month. I miss being in the woods, I forget what it was like without wifi and emails. Constant phone calls and handling stuff 24/7.

We're planning for the Christmas holidays right now.

So far, dear wife and I are headed to Texas for Christmas with her family. We'll be boarding 2 cats and 5 frogs. Mother, who lives with us now, will be headed back to my sister's in Illinois for Christmas, as this will be the last Christmas my niece, who will graduate high school in December, will be 1. At "home", and 2. a civilian. She has enlisted in the U.S. Army (she was "afraid" of the Marine Corps!! LOL) and will be leaving for boot camp in January. We're all very proud of her and are wishing her the best. :heartbeat:

We'll be taking the Durango, instead of my Ram 1500, on the trip this time.

An exciting time will be had by one and all. :twitch::winky:

Well I was going to Ptown next week but those plans got cancelled so now instead.....

are you ready......

wait for it...

I'm taking my mom to see her twin sister in North Eastern PA and the family will drive down to Atlantic City for a couple of days.

I'm sure everyone is jealous that I get to go to the Jersey shore with my mom.

Lol.

My mom is not in the best of health and doesn't fly much as she has to use oxygen so this will probably be the last time she gets to go to see her family.

Women's Weekend 2.0 On The Russian River! Sept 12-14 !!

Fellow Planeteer 'vagina' and I will be partying it down on The Russian River with wet, wanton women all this weekend. *Just north of S.F.

My extremely hot, femme fatale, 'vagina' and I will then do some traveling up Coastal Hwy 1, visit some hot springs in northern California and Oregon, *exciting! In between all of these adventures, we will be going on a hot air balloon ride because vagina really, really loves heights! *evil grin.

Two weeks of mischievousness, Yeah Baby!

Any of you want to come visit us at the music festival, contact me via PM, we have rented a wicked home in the heart of the redwoods and we can have a dinner bash! and cocktails!

There will be plenty for carnivores since vagina only eats bananas.

Going to spend Christmas in the mountains of NC!!!!!

Wow, you're already planning Christmas? You are so prepared!

I'm trying to find a few days when I can drive down to Panama City Beach and get back before anybody notices I'm gone.
