I did start the thread because there is a distinct FtM/Trans and Femmes singles thread and a general singles thread for all folks which includes trans folks. There wasn't one for just plain old butche and femme singles that that want to seek one another out.

Actually, I wish that the general for all singles one was the only single thread, but distinctions started to happen so I thought this was fair for both femmes and butches to find each other on the site that really do seek only each other in terms of romantic relationships.

Ugh... gets so complicated sometimes. But, I don't think any member of any identification can actually be "banned" from any thread. Seems like that would be against the TOS. I sure don't want any one to be offended in any way.

There are other singles/relational threads too- like Daddy/Girl, and D/s specific. Geez... we have so many distinctions! which is one of the things I like about the site over all. Yet, I am not a good candidate for a woman/femme that prefers transmen. And I don't have any problem at all with women/femmes that find that they prefer transmen in terms of romance and dating. Some like both, too.

Kudos to you for that! I remember when labels weren't so necessary either, having been out for 34 years now. Still, I think it's interesting how people do identify and their reasons for that indentification. I applaud a person's right to be themselves, but I remain an old school butch, plain and simple.

Having been in the BF community almost 15 years here is my take...

It seems that so many butches wait to be approached. You heard the saying 2 X 4? (hitting them over the head with a board) Well that is very much true, or so it seems. Personally I don't chase anyone. I may be flirty but I will not chase or settle for dribblings or attention. lol- Maybe why I'm single? But when I do find someone who is interested they appreciate my high expectations. They are mature enough to know that a woman like me is an investment in time, a bit of work and consistency.

I think that if you wait around for them to approach you you might be waiting a while. I think it takes a bit of flirting to let them know you are interested. If they dont grab the bait wait for one who will.

My advice on this probably sucks. lol

Unfortunately you'll need to step out of this. In my last post I mentioned friends. I think you both could learn a lot being just friends with femmes and letting your guard down. BUT don't do the passive aggressive drama rama thing. Take relationship completely out of the equation. If the chemistry is strong enough you won't be able to do anything about it, but don't give unwelcome advances. Let things flow naturally.

Wolfy you made a comment in a rep and on my wall that was so flattering. It was just beautiful. You spoke from the heart and I would have loved to just spend the day with you talking and hanging out. Dating doesn't have to be hook, line and sinker.... its can be a simple exchange of like minds coming together to experience a dynamic. Maybe its just not meant to go any further then that and thats really ok. At least in my book. Perhaps I should have been more specific, 2x4 when it comes to online chat. It is very difficult for someone to catch tone and the subtleties of speech, while reading someones post. When we read, we tend to hear our own voice in our head, and therefore emphasis where it be misinterpreted, or missed completely, until the receiver has a clearer understanding of the sender. For example... in the following phrase, how much money do have?

Communication, where the sender and receiver are speaking, is much easier to understand.

Hey handsome! You know what you should try? I know they are ugly but I started wearing Croc's RX a few years ago and wear them all the time, especially if I'm going to be on my feet a lot. I've been to the Gilroy Garlic Festival it was so much fun and crazy. Try the garlic ice cream seriously it's not as gross as it sounds. It was actually pretty good. Have fun and don't worry about garlic breath cuz the other 10,000 people around you have it too. lol :hangloose:

I'm a very affectionate person and would find it very hard to be with someone who wasn't the same. I love being able to hold hands anytime, snuggling and cuddlng, LOTS of hugs (omg I love hugs!), kisses (can never get enough of those); anything that involves being close to someone I care about :-)

I personally do not feel "competitive" with other femmes. My friendships and connections with femmes are very important to me.

Do I occasionally feel a twinge because I am not 35-40 any more, yes, I would have to be honest about that and say yes but I feel that way about younger butches as well as femmes.

Actually, where I work, there is the cutest damn butch ever, just her young face gives her away as a girl. Whenever we go up in the elevator together I have a mantra in my head: god, if I was only 20 years younger! She is just that cute:)

Thank you all for your responses!! I feel like I'm in a city where everyone looks the same. Because I do not, I often feel shunned. The butch types all wear their fitted caps sideways and look like hipsters, the femmes all have long hair that they flat iron, and look like hipsters. Granted, these are the 21-30 year olds that I see out. I'm a big old pinup femme and that is totally different from them. Unfortch there aren't any butches to counter that style, so sometimes I get discouraged.

Anya/MsW8ing: On the flip side of that coin, a lot of older butches won't date me because I am "so young". :) So there are defs butch types that are looking for you ladies that I haven't got a chance with.

I find myself having difficulty making friends with femmes around my age because we like the same people. For instance I just found out that the same girl has been flirting with me and one of my friends that goes to college here. Luckily my friend is awesome and we were able to talk about this like adults, but i've had bad experiences where sometimes a girl will stab me in the back to get the butch to like her.

For the record, everyone at BFP has been wonderful and friendly and accepting to me, even the butches who told me I was too young were quite gentle about it. :)

LOL, but, I am ancient and simply at a point in my life in which where someone is in terms of their working life matters. Close to or at retirement, or semi-retirement is on my list of "essentials."

It is hard to meet "special" people throughout life, I believe. But also for someone my age, most have had the "love of their life" and have "divorced" after many years or their partner has died.

And I am not an old grumpy butch ready to kick it in. I like to think I am still viable and can turn a few femme heads... ;?).... Recently, I have become much more hopeful about possible romance again. You nevah' know!

I've tried dating younger to but the ones I've personally met are just not mature. And they lack the most awesome qualities of the Old School Dykes that make my head spin and my knees weak. I also have a problem sometimes with thinking that all the butch women that are out there are going to be too young for me. My partners have all been younger than me from between 9-13 yrs younger. The 13 yr difference was really pushing it, but maybe it was just her.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend so far :) So much going on here in Big D this weekend. We have the Texas State Fair going on, Texas And Oklahoma at the Cotton Bowl, Dallas Stars started their season this weekend and the Texas Rangers are playing in the first game of ALCS today :)

Last weekend I ventured out and went to the Pride Picnic for Fort Worth. I had a blast but didnt see or meet anyone I would have remotely been interested in. I see a trend going on here in Dallas Fort Worth. Its Femme/Femme Butch/Butch... I saw a handful of butch/femme couples and was there all day long.

I guess I will have to continue to be patient. I am sure my "Belle" is out there somwhere.... :)

I find the same thing here in Arkansas. I will see someone at the store, for example, wearing what ==I== would consider more "butch" attire, but oftentimes it is just a more 'country' look from straight women.

As for women being dressed "as if they are or have been working on the ranch" not "looking" like a femme, I have a question... I know there has been stuff on other threads about what being a femme means... I know with every cell of my being I AM a femme. Do I look the part of the magazine-cover femme? (is there one?). Nope, I don't. My preferred outfit each day is shorts or jeans and a t-shirt. I have short, spikey hair cause it lets me feel like I can have an ATTITUDE that kicks ass. I dont think I expressed myself correctly in my post, I must apologize for the confusion.

When I was posting about women looking like they worked on a ranch etc. I didnt mean that wasnt femme because trust me some of these women did look femme. Femme, to me anyways, is the way one carries themselves not defined as a "look" or what she happens to be wearing at the time.

With that being said, I guess the point I was trying to make was there are women here my gaydar(which also seems to have worn out over the years) isn't sure about and in most cases I dont even give it a second thought believing most likely they are straight women who own/work on ranches.

For what it's worth you sound like a lovely woman and it doesnt hurt, actually its a plus in my book, you like football and fishing.

It's open-ended! Adventure is trying things I haven't tried before, or doing familiar things with new people, or making a discovery.

For example: I've been to my favorite sushi restaurant a bajillion times, but maybe the next time I go there will be a puddle to jump in before i get to the door, or i will go with someone who has never had sushi before, or the restaurant will have a special on some random thing I've never tried, or I will have a conversation with the people at the table next to me and make new friends, or on the way to the car afterwards I will find a treasure in the parking lot (I once found a penny with an irish harp on it that I am in love with). :)

I make one of my dear friends really frustrated with me..because I never ever make any sort of plans..I just "fly by the seat of my pants" so to speak..and amazingly ...everything I always want or need always happens or comes to me..I am truly so blessed in this life...and I have so many awesome angels walking with me...:). I could have not expressed it any better I agree ! I would like a femme who has or is close to retirement so we could enjoy time and travel together and not worry about showing up everydsay and the coorperative ladder. But, 'cept we are out here- more old school butches (yet very much appreciate youthful ideas and know other generations are forming their futures- had my chance to do so, now it is theirs), that is. LOL, but, I am ancient and simply at a point in my life in which where someone is in terms of their working life matters. Close to or at retirement, or semi-retirement is on my list of "essentials."

It is hard to meet "special" people throughout life, I believe. But also for someone my age, most have had the "love of their life" and have "divorced" after many years or their partner has died.

And I am not an old grumpy butch ready to kick it in. I like to think I am still viable and can turn a few femme heads... ;?).... Recently, I have become much more hopeful about possible romance again. You nevah' know!

Worst I've done is gotten stranded north of Seattle at a hotel with no transportation, then two weeks later I got myself stuck at the aquarium in Baltimore while my friends were 20 mins outside the city. OOOPS!!! Luckily, both situations turned out okay in the end. :) I'm also getting much better at handling stressful situations!

I've been keepin my head down mostly (I did have a few outlandish moments we shall not discuss) because I have not been able to have a reasonable thought about dating. It's been a looooong time. Conversatin' - I'm good at that, if you can stand me makin up words ;-)

I can be funny, I can go deep - sometimes too deep for some peeps, my funny is better in person cuz it usually involves my face and we might have to do distance coffee, but that's OK.

I am sooo looking forward to the superbowl - getting out to a party, meeting new folks, not so afraid to let people know I'm single anymore - sheeeesh! It's gettin better...

Not much going on today - just some odd jobs around my SIL's place. She's out of town at a conference and I'm house & pet sitting for her. She'll be back later today so I'm finishing up the cleaning and stuff.
