View Full Version : What does your username mean?

I'm always intrigued by usernames on forums and the stories behind them. So tell us about your username and why you chose it, what the meaning behind it is, etc.
I chose "Waldo" here as a nod to my evolution.
I travel a lot and regularly get emails and texts from friends asking "Where are you?" so with a nod to the Where's Waldo books I settled on Waldo.
Your turn.

In my last relationship, my boi called me Miss Sabra. I wanted a new user name for another site and was trying to think of something catchy....
So I just altered the Miss to Mizz (cause Miss just doesn't suit me) and Sabra is actually my real name. It's so unusual that I thought I didn't need to have another name.

Waldo, I will think of you as DIAB for a while, I'm sure, but I love Waldo and the reason for it.
When I came up with evolveme, I was high into "conscious evolution," the theory that we are, for the most part, as physically evolved as we are going to get (a theory I no longer necessarily hold), being that more and more people are being born without wisdom teeth, and well, some other things I could bore you with, but won't. Anyway, this theory is that where the evolution for homo sapiens is now really taking place is the brain/mind.
And that if we want to harness our evolutionary potential, we will participate in it by becoming more and more aware, more conscious, so to speak. We will utilize more of our brain capacity and choose to be alive in it.
Anyway, I was on this big kick, right? I mean, like a HUGE kick. I was basically a Ken Wilber fanatic. I've since moved on a little. I hit an existential crisis, you might say, but anyway, "evolve me" is kind of a call, a request. It says, do something for my mind. Challenge me. Help me grow.
Give me something interesting to think about.
(I don't know how/why anyone ever confused it with my saying that I *am* evolved. That seems pretty fucking ridiculous to me, but folks sometimes have. I must be a big inflated meanie, I reckon. Grrr.)

I don't know that we'd ever talked about that before, but I absolutely got it. You love a good mind more than almost anyone else I know.
I was DIAB for over a decade. It's followed me from site to site to site. It's kind of sad to put it behind me, but I think it was time. Necessary in many ways and for many reasons.

So my name is from Tolkien and is because I fell in with a bad crowd in high school.
Okay, so they weren't bad...they were just a bunch of Star Trek geeks gone down a hobbit trail. The guy I dated was called Strider. I'm dark haired and fair-skinned. Therefore I got tagged with Arwen.
So this is actually the name I go by and have in all aspects of my life except business for many years.
I can always tell when someone doesn't know me.
They call me Stephanie.:tarot:

P. to the S. You will always be either SquareDyke or my best Sushi date in my heart.
For those that weren't there, Waldo and I met at a Bash. I was sitting on a couch with others and Waldo waved at me. I did not have a CLUE because I am bad at face recognition.
So Waldo helpfully draws a "box" in the air and I say...loudly and in public, "SquareDyke?"
Yeah. It was a classic Arwen moment. :)

When I was in my early 40's (hence, 41) I started visiting online websites and communities that required me to have a screen name or username. Since, at the time, I was working in the refining industry (hence, Oiler) I added a touch of my profession and my age together to get my username. Since the Oilers were still an NFL team in Houston then, most folks just thought I was a big fan of theirs. Not. So there you have it; nothing too spectacular, lol.

Mine is pretty easy to figure out. When I introduce myself to people and tell them my name is G, they always tilt their head to the side....I then say, "Just G....just the letter G."
So, here I am.:barmartini:

But I'm not tellin', no matter how hard they squeeze me to find out. :fart:
My user name is a nickname of sorts for another user name I had for a few years. It was GemmeFemme. For most folks, it was easy to see the repetition and play on sound. For some, they insisted on calling me "Gimme" Femme. What's up with THAT?
I'm a Gemini and that's really the core of everything because it's the core of me. So, since this place is light and airy and uber casual, I decided to relax and just go with Gemme.
Those that love me a little more than others sometime call me Gemmie or Gemmilicious. It makes my heart :cheer::awww::sparklyheart: when they do.

Intersting stories, I hope I will have more post to read. I think usernames really conjur up thoughts and feelings about people before you even communictae..or is it just me??!
I chose mine cus I was feeling a little battered form life and didnt really feel very delicate at the time as I was having to dig deep for the guts to deal with some issues, my name gave me a little comfort, like coming back to myself if you like.
I have seen one that reads like aload of symbols....*%@?....etc....how on earth do you pronounce that??!! :pointing:

My username (here and everywhere else online for the last 2 years) sprang from the fact that I had to pick a username for a 3D environment called Second Life for professional reasons, so it had to be close enough to my own 'real first life' name. i.e. Angelika is my real name, sort of; its the longer/extended variation of my German first name.

Well I am just excited to have a new username because my old one (fastnfurious) just didn't feel like ME anymore. My new one embraces my transition and the fact that I made myself the man I am today through years of determination, tears and hard work, and I am proud of that!
Its the start of my wonderful new life.

once upon a time i was Kyssme. that happened because "Kissme" was already taken on that particular site which was my first.
then one day i realized i had outgrown Kyssme. that realization came around the same time i discovered that "femme" didn't work for me anymore, either. i'm sure they're connected- the name Kyssme was a HUGE part of my socialization as a femme. had to shed it all at once.
went with Papa Donna for a bit- a nickname given to me by some RT friends ... but the online B/F community seemed confused by that moniker on me. it felt awkward to me, too.
so ... now i'm D-Money, another RT nickname. my friend, Omar, dubbed me "D-Money" one night after i kicked his ass at Trivial Pursuit.
i dig it ... simple, ballin', a little sentimental ... holla! ;)

I love reading where people came up with their usernames. Interesting...
Well, mine is pretty simple. Ever since I was a little girl, Grease has been one of my favorite movies. I've probably seen it over a 1000 times. Of course, I had a crush on Rizzo (just sayin'). The one scene, where Rizzo & Kanicki are fighting in the diner, she throws the strawberry milkshake in his face and says "from me to you, PinkieLee".

my username... :rubberducky: is because I am a rubber ducky fanatic... I collect them... my bathroom is done in rubber duckies.. I have a couple of shelves full of rubber duckies... I have rubber ducky rainboots (from torrid) Ducky is also my nickname in RT... a year ago (I think) I had a rubber ducky party down in Austin for my birthday.. it was great.. I got a ton of rubber duckies... I have a big one what was signed by almost all of my friends who came to that party... that one is my favorite and always makes me smile when I am down... oh and yes I have rubber duckies that go in the bathtub with me too
You have to love the :rubberducky:
My screen name was originally a joke... I had HAD it up to THERE with people ignoring me because I was Femme and therefore couldn't know anything--no matter the subject, they talked to the Butch--even when she said, "gosh I dunno; let's ask Cath" they would ignore me and pretend that she had answered the question!! :hrmph:
I was really steamed so I drew a cartoon and labeled it "NO MORE MS NICE GUY! Baby Butch In Training--B-BIT!" Big joke, the best one I ever told on myself, since I haven't got a Butch bone in my body. ;)
Then we got online, and I found a queer website, but I didn't have a clue what to name myself. My Butch said, "why not b-bit?" So I did. Then I got caught up in chat and discovered how fast people had to type, and how frustrating hyphens were, so eventually I just went went with bit.
THEN a couple years later I discovered a bigger website where it actually had a completely different meaning that my name wasn't capitalized--oy!! People got the wrong impression all the time; someone even said they assumed I was into pony play because of my name! So when I came to the planet, I capitalized it.
I still prefer my real name, Cath, but it's been twelve years now, so I think I'm stuck with Bit. ;)

To say I am stunned is not even close. I am howling at my own assumptions.
I thought "bit" because you were just a bit of a girl. Not as in only a bit girl but a little bit of a girl like small and delicate.
It's why I call you Bitty Bit. LOL
However, if you prefer Cath, I will change to that. One of my "things" is to call people what they want to be called. It's important to me on a magical level.

Lol Bit, Butch in Training. You sure fooled us all these years! I thought the same thing as Arwen.
The TX Self can call me anything she wants :cheesy: and I love nicknames! I'm actually glad to see that you prefer Arwen; I felt awkward for a long time calling you that because you had given me the choice and I knew people call you by your first name, face to face. Now I'll just relax about it.
I was uncomfortable with "bit" as a sn for a long time because I knew most people were assuming it meant I was small and delicate, and I felt deceitful... hadn't expected anyone to think that, yanno? But once we could put pics online that feeling eased off. Today it's just my name, and you are most welcome to call me Bitty Bit if you like. :heartbeat:

HEY, HEY, NOW! You're looking at a native Houstonian, and I WAS an Oiler fan. To the extreme of even going to that after game pep rally, where Bum Phillips said that they had knocked on the door, and the next year were going to kick the SOB in. We didn't dislike our team. We had some great players in those years, such as Dante (Dan) Patorini and Earl (The Tyler Rose) Campbell. What we were happy to lose was Bud Adams. What an...........oh, we don't have a donkey smilie.
Ok, as for my screen name, well on a large site out there, I had another name in the beginning, but after a turbulent time in my life came to a close, I decided to stop using that one, and moved to this one. I was once lovelyintexas, but that name and that naive person both have gone loooooong by the wayside. WhiteTigress is because I've always viewed myself to have a feline energy within. I've loved white tigers, because they are rare, striking, different. Some people think that I'm tied to the color or racist because of the "white" in the name, but it has to do with the rare cats instead. As someone else mentioned, hyphens and even spaces are a pain in the tush, so I just ran them together, but kept the uppercase letters for each part. Sometimes people shorten it to "White", but I'd prefer if they want to shorten it, that they use "Tigress" or "WT", as I do in my signature.
In the leather world, I've got a different name, and most everyone in the Houston and Austin gay and leather community know me as Treasure (still not my birth name). It was given to me by my first dominant. Besides my blood kin, and a handful of my friends and LGBT charitable community associates, no one calls me by my real name, which is Kimberly. My blood kin and Timber are the only people I will allow to call me Kim. It's too common, and there are waaaaaaaaay to many people out there with that name. For the most part, I'm Treasure, and when people get to know me, they tell me that it suits me.
As for here, you can just call me WT or Tigress. I'm happy either way.

I'm a fan of Chess.
I used to collect chess boards + pieces.
My most expensive board cost 400, made with beach glass + crystals { I loved that board..My lovely ex wrecked it }
My favorite piece is the Rook, because of its value + power in the Game and strategic moves that make it seem innocuous, almost risky..until the Player puts it in motion..
:cigar:
I've had other usernames elsewhere in the past, I can tell how Long a friend has known me based on their comfort with a specific Nickname.
The Longest being "BD" {BlueDragon, a nick I used about...10-ish years ago}
Very few get away with calling me by my birth name, unless they're my immediate relatives, or my spouse/companion, my companion usually has a good fuckin reason, else they can use my legal name.Otherwise, at best, I'll stare and/or ignore.

I needed a username and was going through hell trying to figure it out. One day I was sending an email to a friend and saw the addy........toughone@__________
BINGO........I stole that name from my bud........laughin....and
toughy was born...........way back then I didn't capitalize it, however (smiling at WT and Bit) I had several kinky folk decide I was a bottom/sub because I didn't capitalize it. I'm a Top/Dom. So it became Toughy and always has been Toughy since I have been on line.
People call me T or Toughy depending on where they meet me first....
I go by my given name at work and generally have even when it was a LGBTQI agency. My blood family has a nickname for me....my ex-wife called me that before she knew my family called me that......I also have a Goddess name.
Isadora generally calls me by my given name........she is one of the rare ones outside work and blood family.
The thing I find most interesting.....depending on which name you call me, affects, mostly in subtle ways, how you interact with me.....
Dean Thoreau
11-19-2009, 03:27 PM
...............long long time ago back before there were any Butch femme places I played Backgammon on line at a few sites and was Thoreau.....then one day I found little place called lesbiannation.com which led me to gay.com which lead me to stroll in when a butchfemme place was created oh about 12 years ago.....now I have a tendancy to get confused so my Name was always Thoreau wherever I wandered.....till one day my password would not work, i kicked and sent emails and begged, but they were lost in the conundrum of bliss back in the day...so I got impatient and decided I would just make a new name..now not wanting people to think I was trying to hide...I figured I would keep the thoreau...but needed an addition so since the day I was born I have been called Dean..I naturally chose DeanThoreau...
and I like it.......when you meet me in person you wont get confused cause I am still Dean........cept at work I am Dr Thoreau :)
:computer2:
...........way back then I didn't capitalize it, however (smiling at WT and Bit) I had several kinky folk decide I was a bottom/sub because I didn't capitalize it.
Exactly... in my case, WAY more than "several" probably because of my personality and because I'm open about being a girl.
I am SO GLAD to be able to capitalize it finally, lol... it doesn't bother me if anyone types it lowercase but I think capitalizing it will stop new friends from making assumptions that it's about BDSM.

well, a zillion years ago on a planet far away, I dated a woman who always referred to me as "Beau", and there were many who referred to me as that in r/t; hence, the screen name
what's been funny is how many have thought me to be a femme in search of a beau :eyebrow: ... notsomuch, but it always made me laugh ;)

We tried every damn method under the sun, but it was rough going. Anyway my friends tried to get me to give it up, but I wouldn't let up. I spent hours and hours on one damn door. We finally did get the job done. My friends said you are such a bulldog and started calling me that. So when I joined b-f I signed up with that name.
Then Hank and some other people started calling me Bully. So I have my screen name and my nickname for my screen name, lol. What's funny is quite a few of my real life friends and their kids and grand kids call me Bully so the name has really stuck.

When I was in my early 40's (hence, 41) I started visiting online websites and communities that required me to have a screen name or username. Since, at the time, I was working in the refining industry (hence, Oiler)
Glynn
It's not short for Oiley Beauhunk???
Mine is pretty easy to figure out. When I introduce myself to people and tell them my name is G, they always tilt their head to the side....I then say, "Just G....just the letter G."
So, here I am.:barmartini:
But what does Perabo mean? Should I already know that? Am I showing my ignorance of cult movies or literature?
I love reading where people came up with their usernames. Interesting...
Well, mine is pretty simple. Ever since I was a little girl, Grease has been one of my favorite movies. I've probably seen it over a 1000 times. Of course, I had a crush on Rizzo (just sayin'). The one scene, where Rizzo & Kanicki are fighting in the diner, she throws the strawberry milkshake in his face and says "from me to you, PinkieLee".
Dammit, I thought my fuzzy girlie Pinkie Lee was your inspiration. She's cute and sassy and sometimes fancy and sometimes bites....
Oh yeah, Puplove: when signing up for b-f long ago, I wanted something that was vaguely descriptive and not too dumb or sweet. Hmmm... I love my dogs and, well, whatever. I like being called Pup, better than my given name Denise (sorry Mom, I know you think it's beautiful. Although, if my mom is reading this, I have some things to discuss with her).

I thought they were twins separated at birth. Both have an innate sense of who needs biting and who needs love at just the right moment. Both have really cute tails. Both usually come when called unless they are busy doing something else or just don't give a particular good gosh-darn at that moment. Both know how special they are. Both will allow you to admire them and pet them until they say you are done. Of course, one does look better in extensions than the other.
:) I love them both!

Although, at first glance some have misinterpreted my profile name as meaning 'Calypso-The-Nympho' true - it has happened (on several occasions as matter of fact), but in reality I enjoy Greek Mythology. Calypso is a sea nymph, and I love the sea, plus the name seems to fit.

years ago on aol ,
I used the name lethelflamezzz...kinda suited me in the way of hurt me and i can be and was lethal but of course my ever changing "me" and the realization that I am indeed a Lady even if i am lethal at times, lady seemed to squirm it's way in there .
:candle: The Flames part is of course my inner self and the need to at times in my life sit quietly for hours beside a nice bon fire and get to know me..the inside part of me, that no one else can see. To be the extreme of insisting i was different from anyone else i inserted the E in lethel and the Z's because at times i am indeed ......snoozing out of boredom and S's seem so plain... so there ya have it!

This is a fascinating read, thank you for coming up with this unique idea Waldo.
Let's see: Itty Bitty Fem
It kinda feels like Four Score and Seven Years Ago, however, since I'm only a mere youngster . . .
Part 1: Long before the internet, I had a relatively large group of lesbian friends, several others shared my given name, Donna. The confusion led to nicknames - Officer, Esquire, Doc, Big (Donna), and Little (Donna). (Big & Little were actually a couple) That left me, who was shorter and more petite in frame than Little, hence Itty Bitty, which eventually became Itty. From there, it went down hill for a short period of time when they began to refer to me as "Its" or "The Its" (Pretty please, do NOT use that phrase, made me feel like Cousin It from the Adams Family)
Once I discovered the internet, Itty Bitty had already become a comfortable fit so I went for that.
Part 2: Sitting in front of a brand new computer, anxious to begin, I did not realize AOL dictated the name you select will forever remain the user owner name. "Itty Bitty" had already been assigned so I had to add something else. I had yet to embrace the B-F Dynamics therefore, "Fem" did not identify me as "Femme", it actually was a gender identification,
Female = "Fem" Wha-lah, I had a screen name, IttyBittyFem.
Gorilla Glue must have been present at the time my friends began using the name Itty. To this day, when around my friends, my own two sisters will refer to me as Itty during a conversation. The name has truly stuck!
By the way, Little and I still play Golf together, (when I have no broken bones that is) a great twosome since we're both Lefties and short in stature. Little LOVES using my Driver on par 5's. !

I actually have no idea why I changed my name from curley to twinkle toes:confused:
Oh I know, I had a menopausal brain thought, and thought it was a good idea at the time:deepthoughts:
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!!
Darling Curley . . . . .pardon me please . . . . .Twinkle Toes.
I had no idea this was YOU! LOL
Your menopausal bleep in actuality, functions in cerebral mode. It's brilliant and I adore your new name, as I do you dear Lady.

I was gigglers on other sites, and it seems that this name as worn out its wear. Lillith seems to fit better now.
Lillith (in Judaic myth) was the first wife of Adam. She had no desire to submit or be on the bottom. So, she was kicked out of the Garden of Eden to spawn with daemons. She never apologized for living out her life they way she wanted. She only wanted to be equal, and perhaps in the end she was more perverse for it.
its always been FR just different incarnations of it--it started out someone gave me the name Forest Ranger(uniforms anyone?)-then when we would change our names at the other place i was Fecal Residue or Farting Rectal(u asked)-and when i used to really bottom i was armadildoboi- some call me FRed or FRo-then evolved into Femme Rider and now having been someones daddy for almost 5 years it(single now and missing it) i am just plain old grumpy FR-- u can call me anything but late for dinner!

bonne-maman
11-21-2009, 10:16 AM
Well, first of all, what my name does NOT mean. At another site I spelled my name as one word, bonnemaman. Many people would quickly glance at it and thought it said something I did not intend at all! I didn't find out about this until months later when a real time femme friend asked.
"Why is your name, "bonin my man" on the website!
:superfunny:
Just to be clear. I have not, nor ever intend to, bone anyone.
:cracked:
The real source of my name. This other bf site was the first social site I ever joined. I was sitting at my computer drinking wine out of a jam jar, while considering this pseudonym business for the first time. This jam is a brand of jam I buy often, as the jar is wider at the rim than at the bottom, and I like to use them for juice, wine, etc. The brand name of the jam is french:
Bonne Maman
It means, "good mom." I couldn't think of anything better, so went with that.
Stone to Bone was the first to give me the nickname, "bonne." Mr. Bent and Ezee Tiger have come up with a few other nicknames for me.
I did have another funny moment at the other site late one night when I typed, "My fingers are all sticky and there is bonnemaman jam all over my keyboard." I got some crap for that.

Butches had them on their suits, it became a running joke and they renamed me Pennysparkles.

Random
11-24-2009, 05:08 PM
Years ago and a galaxy far, far away....
I went by my nick name.. Random (short for randomnumbers)
then there was a temper tantrum that led to the name lissa.. (A name pulled out of my ass in a moment of fury)
years go by.. people are thinking of me as lissa.. asking for lissa when they call the house.. .. (hmmmm no).. my name is random..
or is it? After so many years of being called random, I make the decision to try to reconnect with my real name.. Cynthia..
What do people do when you say your name is Cynthia? They shorten it to Cyndi... i hate that name.. hate it hate it hate it.. Cyndi is blond and has cork screw pig tails and talks with a lisp.. (in my mind)..
So.. I over hear my g/f talking to her mom one day... She's calling my Cyn..
hmmmm.. Cyn.. I can get behind that..
I added Ms. as a nod to what i am evolving into.. a Top/Domme femme..

I think of this and it cracks me up, because in my eyes I'm one of the most casual people I know. If I could go to work barefooted I would. :princess:

Well since galvanized pipe is only good for about 30 years, I decided to replace the plumbing with copper throughout the whole house, starting with the main at the street.
I borrowed a buddy's Jackhammer and removed a huge portion of the driveway to run new lines.
I fell in love with that damn Jackhammer, its all I thought about.
I wanted one, but couldn't justify the cost against how often Id be using it.
I was surfing the net and found an online forum, it asked for user name- first thing on my mind was that God Damn Jackhammer.
I still think about the time we shared together: those few days with warm feelings of happiness, excitement and *cough* ..... love.
Too funny Jackhammer! It reminds me of a commerical I saw...this guy rents a jackhammer to take out a sidewalk ... e haso much fun he ends up taking out his whole driveway...explaining to his wife 'I have it for the whole day!' ;)

Is someone heading to the Red Zone..... ?
A long long time ago in a far away land I was partnered with a woman who was hell bent on having a child. So after many years of being together I finally agreed to be a parent with her. At that time I decided that I was going to be the Daddy, especially since she was going to be the mommy. Seeing I was/am also a Top, the name TopDaddy was born.
The name went through various changes in spelling as I'd leave one site, then return or whatever, until it ended up TopDadddy, which it has been for a very long time now.
Somewhere along the line people began abbreviating this name and hence TD was born. Soooo, when I came to this site I just went with TD, which is what I'm mostly known as anymore.

T for Texas is an old song originally done by Jimmie Rodgers and then later by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Now I've always been a big Skynyrd fan having seen them in the 70's *before the crash* and I also wanted to embrace something Texan as this has been my transplanted home from Cali for 32 years now. As the bumpersticker says: I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could.

About five years ago I decided I wanted to change my name at the b-f site. To be honest with you, I don't even remember why...it wasn't for any significant reason.
When I was trying to come up with a name to describe myself, I kept thinking about a good femme friend's descriptor for me, a "dapper butch". I guess she saw it as the best description for my style of dress when going out in the evening with our group of friends.
Since I am not the most imaginative person, I just went with the above for a username.

Honeybarbara is a character from the book "bliss"
I was very impressed with the character when i saw the movie (I must have been around 11/12) and wanted to grow up to be her. I then read the book when I was a bit older and fell more in love with who she was.
When I was about 25/26 a few of my friends started calling me honeybarb for a joke, some of them had recently read the book.
I took that as my online name.
It's a nickname that occationally gets used offline as well.

Started out as AtLast in the dist site. Yes, there was a connection to a femme and the song (she is deceased and the first femme I was involved with), but mainly it had to do with being the last born in my family (with a large gap between myself and my siblings) and my coming to the B-F dynamic (as a butch) later in life (although, not to lesbianism).
I added Home for this site because I do feel like I have come home in my identity as a butch and wanted to have my screen name here reflect this.

A long time ago, a friend from California would compliment me: "You are always so sweet and content...I adore you for that." I was always so flattered to hear such an original, unique, sincere compliment. Made me blush every time.
So I changed my old screen name on the other site to Sweet&Content. When I signed up on BFP, I didn't know if it was acceptable to change screen names? (my Gramma always called me "BlueBird"... wouldn't mind using that.)
Lesson Learned: Do NOT ever use an ampersand in my screen name.
Recently, Medusa and Linus had to help me submit a subscription... I just couldn't get it to work!! Medusa and Linus to the rescue!! They earned their Sugar Cookies!! Apparently, the ampersand messes things up "behind the scenes" and sends various techy things all wonky! Oh! They had fun figuring it out...and were sooooo patient with me. But I bet I gave them big headaches! (Linus, I never did get that PM you spoke about... WONKY, I say...) Well, BLESS Linus and all his help... he logged off before I could get back to him... Medusa and I agreed to just shorten it down to "Sweet" and get it over with... no need to change it back again, 'cause the darn & just isn't worth it!!
That :floatbee: my story and I'm stickin' to it..

Ok for real... Years ago at another site. This girl and I became really good friends. Every time I entered that chat room she would say.. here comes that "Strappin Fine Butch"....
So I entered the room one day as Strappie.. and it stuck from then on. I've used this name for hmm 15 yrs or better.

I hate to admit it...but I was some what of a womanizer when I was in culinary school. One of my fellow classmates gave me the name. 8 years later, I still can't seem to get rid of it. However...I am no longer a womanizer.

Mine comes from an old friend, who's a lot shorter than me, who one night we were out int the club looked up at me and said "luvva you're f*ckin' massive." And it's stuck with me ever since ... To explain, I'm 5'11'' barefoot.

A spinoff from my username on b-f.com (EnderDurden), but with the inclusion of one more of my favourite books.
Ender - Ender Wiggin from Orson Scott Card's novel Ender's Game
D - Durden from Tyler Durden in Chuck Palahniuk's novel, Fight Club
but also
D_503 - Taken from D-503, who was the main character of Yvegeny Zamyatin's We (arguably the forefather of modern dystopian fiction and a huge influence on the likes of 1984 and Brave New World. If you haven't read it, do so. You won't regret it!)
I suck at creating usernames, so instead of defaulting to the uncreative UserName (because I would do something like that, lol) I just mash together favourite novels lol

i love dystopian fiction and i agree that We is seminal and shamefully obscure compared to the biggies....although Oryx and Crake is my favorite

Another Jenny? Yay! There's a whole bunch of us out there!! In "real life," I almost always go by Jen, but that's just since adulthood. As a child/teen/young adult, I was "Jenny." (And for one brief summer when I was 15, I defaulted to "Jennifer," thinking it was soooo grown-up... lol) On the "other site," I think I'm Jens44, which was a default user name given to me by eBay when I joined, years and years ago...

Jinxd, because I am apparently anti-E.
Girl, because I am a girl.
I've had a billion different names in a million different places and this is just the one that fits me now. Maybe I'll stick around long enough to take root and the name will stay with me, or I'll wander off and be me with a different name somewhere else.
PS: D-Money, I'm almost positive I knew (in a very casual 'hi, how are you?' smile when we bumped into each other way) you with the other name you mentioned.

As you can see I didn't put much thought into mine. :brainsucker:

Believe it or not it has nothing to do with my fucking sunny disposition. I love the way the sun feels on my skin. The more Sunshine the more warmth. The rest is just what it is.

dixielady = the CB handle that was given to me when I was like 12 so it's easy to remember...plus, I'm just not that creative when it comes to myself. lol...I tend to have this username on every site that I've belonged to for a while. (can also be found as queerfemmeprincess on a few, but didn't feel like changing it here...lol)

Why would that be embarassing? I've nothing but respect for one of the most brilliant authors that ever lived. Cool story behind the name though :D

I liked the movies for what they were (saw them as separate from the books), but I was also kind of annoyed that they left out some key parts of the book. I don't think I'll ever forgive Peter Jackson for leaving out Tom Bombadil... But then again I am one of those types who actually counted the number of historical inaccuracies in Braveheart just for the shits n' giggles. Apparently I'm not very fun to watch movies based on books or history with lol

There are some great names from some great places! Anything Tolkien I'm a huge fan of. (If you get the chance, see the play "One Man Lord of the Rings" by Peter Ross. It is HYSTERICAL and so perfect for Tolkien lovers.)
My name comes from one of the characters in a book I was writing...faerie in nature, but dark and mysterious. It came in a dream and I loved it so much, I took it for myself, too!
tuffboi29
08-01-2010, 03:37 PM
Tuff is my R/L nickname given to me by my Pa(grandfather).
A horse stepped on my foot breaking the bone in the top. That grumpy old man looked at me and said "You better not cry, girl." I didn't shed a tear even when they set and casted it. He started saying "Thats one tough girl." It got shortened to Tuffgirl...then later to Tuff.
When I was a few years older I read a book with a charcter called Tuffarious. To this day I still can't remember who the arthur was or what the book was called (if anyone knows PLEASE tell me it's driving me nuts). And now that I'm about to transition I decided to adopt Tuffarious as my legal name.
It just kinda seemed to go together.

Wish I could share a good, meaningful story about it with you ... but the truth is I cannot.
There was a bag of Brock candy on the table beside my laptop when I registered. I knew it would be easy to type.
Mostly seen spelled Brach now days - since a merger back in the 90s with original company spelled "Brock" ... I believe it is now called something along the lines of Brach and Brock Confections(I think???) ... this is memory I am drawing from so don't count on the accuracy too heavily. LOL!

My username is my nickname and the numbers of one of my previous addresses. Its just something I have always used for my usernames.
Jules
Not a very exciting story I'm afraid, Cane is acctually my name in real life too. It's practical though, it's quick to type and never taken.

Kätzchen
04-23-2020, 02:48 PM
Kätzchen is an term of endearment given to me by a very dear, long time friend (a butch, half way around the world, who identified as a Transgendered Butch).
My German nickname means: Kitten.
firegal
04-23-2020, 05:33 PM
When I first got in the fire dept there were only 3 women out of 1000 firefighters. So when I would be at certain fire stations some would purposely not say firefighter but say fireMAN and enunciate louder the man part. They wanted me to get their message protesting woman being there.
Hence Firegal …That's kinda my protest. Ive had more than a few folks assume I wasn't a butch based on my name.:|

I have had this screen name for 20 something years. It is pretty self explanatory. I live in NH, I am male identified and own a truck for snow plowing our lengthy driveway. That double entendre was also intended back in the day.
