Butch picture thread ..

Ya know pictures of the butches who write on here. It really would save working through galleries to see who your talking to ?

Sorta like faces in one thread ?

Or is there one already I haven't seen ?

I'd be happy with a member photo thread, if you don't want to limit it to just butches. I always feel like a chump clicking on the gallery link and coming up empty handed (or would that be empty eyed?).

Seriously, I don't see how this would be easier than clicking on the convenient profile link to the left there. It's easier to look through the galleries than to scroll through 15 pages of a thread.

I guess I thought it would be fun because some people don't know how to upload photos to their gallery and/or haven't. Don't be crotchety, some of us only have enough space for two measly photos. :)

I think two photos, or really one, is sufficient for the purpose of knowing "the butches who write on here" (and femmes). Also, I think it's actually easier to upload a picture to the gallery than in a thread, which requires saving your photo to an external hosting service, then pasting in the proper link, as opposed to clicking the button that says "upload photo." (Or whatever handy thing it actually says). Having said that, I shamelessly post photos of my awesome dog all over the site, but it's still easier to go to my gallery to find one.

And I will be crotchety. Don't deny me.

Mr. Bent said it most succinctly: upload your photos to an exterior hosting site (like photobucket or flickr or something) and then use the yellow box with the mountain in it button (above text box) to paste the URL of your uploaded photo.

it's really a pain in the ovaries, but I'm used to it. :)

I thought the reason we did not have a photo thread is because admin once told us that they prefer that we did not. Daywalker (I think) already had the idea for a photo thread once before. Admin gave us reasons why it was not a good idea. I think something to do with bandwidth or one of those technical term thingys. I don't see a problem with clicking under someone's name either. Then again, sometimes I'm a bit crotchety myself. lol

And paying for a membership effectively means you help pay for the bandwidth all those photos use up.

I don't mind clicking under names too. I would rather someone click for my picture because they enjoyed what I said. Other than seeing my picture and then looking to see if I am smart.

Ah, found it. Not so technical after all, but a reason nonetheless. "Using a thread as a gallery space circumvents the intent of the gallery and also lessens the value of the gallery space." Whether or not this is still the case, I don't know. Just throwing it out there.

Not going to make an assumption.
When my wife and I had our memberships we had plenty of space to post anything we wanted within the TOS. One of these days when the government decides to get their collective heads out of their collective rears we might be able to do so again. Til then we are limited on how many pics we post. Works for us.

Also on the Brit sites you don't have to pay for membership to add more than a couple of pics to your gallery...but then we are much smaller sites over here and therefore less bandwidth is necessary.

Yes, I was thinking that this was the reason when I saw the original post, as I have noticed that this is common on those sites and gallery pics are not.

It makes sense that hy would just think...hey, where is THAT thread (?), and not think anymore about it. The British sites have had that particular thread for years.

With that said, I don't see a need for that type of thread here, since galleries are easily accessible (one click to the left).

Sorry to be a party pooper here but I need to close this thread and ask folks to please use our gallery to post personal photos.

From this point, any thread started for the purpose of sharing personal photos will be closed. Here's why:

In our Terms of Service, we ask members not to do anything that will usurp, circumvent, aggravate or impede the natural order and administration of this website.

Part of the value of buying a membership to this site is for the privilege of posting lots of photos in our user gallery. When folks use threads as a way to bypass having to buy a membership, it is essentially lessening the value of our memberships here.

It is fine to post a photo that you find out on the internet in the "random photo" thread or game threads but please do not use the privilege of posting photos in threads to post photos of yourself, pets, or children.

This doesn't mean that we all can't post any photos of ourselves, pets, or children in the threads. Not at all! A random photo here and there in the context of a conversation is fine, it's just that we now have multiple threads on the forums being used as personal "galleries" and it is not only impossible for us to monitor all of the photos but is not what the forum is intended to be used for.

We want folks to have a good time and appreciate your understanding here!
