LOL. Have you ever read anything from Mihaly Csikszentmihaly? He is the pioneer of getting "The Flow" mentally and the importance of it to experience happiness.

I mention this theory because nothing gives me that good mental flow like hunting around others' junk.

No, I haven't read it, but now you have piqued my curiosity and I'll check that out. Thank you.
I have been a "hunter" for many years and it eventually lead to managing a HUGE Salvation Army Hub Store where I learned the business. Then I took that knowledge and opened a Thrift Store (501c3) to generate funds to run Programs for persons living with HIV/AIDS. This was all back in the 90's and I moved on to other adventures. But, I am still dedicated to the whole concept of recycle/reuse/re-purpose and offer low-cost items while generating funds for charities. win/win/win
Flea markets can make my heart flutter. I'll be in California the next two weeks and be checking out the local offerings.
Thanks for starting the thread.

There are several good flea markets here in central Arkansas and multiple thrift stores that I like to hit up randomly.

I have found that certain parts of the state are better for certain things: thrift stores around college towns have great books, small appliances, and CDs generally. The thrift stores that are further away from big cities will often yield reallllly good vintage clothing and accessories.

I LOVE me some thrift shopping! Also a huge fan of yard sales, rummage sales, etc.

As a matter of fact, there is a nice flea market going on Friday that benefits one of the local schools and Jack and I will be there looking around (hopefully with our friend River and a new Femme recruit! :)

When I lived out west, I used to go to Savers often for my cargo shorts, work tee shirts and books.

Now that I'm in OK, I sure miss Savers.
Someday I'll be in LR and I know there's a Savers there

So, if anyone knows any good places in OKC, do tell.

Sometimes, used bookstores will carry some vintage magazines. Don't recall seeing any in the Half Price Books location I visited in Austin, but I would check a couple of more upscale antique book dealers. If you have specific things in mind, I have some good sources here. Always happy to scour a bookstore.

I am totally addicted to auction hunting. I attend one on the eastern shore in Cambridge, Md. Called Foxwell's Auction. Every Saturday. I scored diamond earrings for my sister for $60. Of course I didn't know they were diamonds until I won and tested them. That is the high end, i get stuff from 1-20 bucks. I buy stuff for resell or my own hoarding sickness for
