The people there are very friendly and there's so much to do and see. However watch out - the mosquitoes are huge, they fly in swarms and hit in great droves. So don't get a flat out on the Alcan Hwy. Remember that commercial for, I think it was Off? Where one guy puts his arm sprayed in Off in a container full of mosquitoes and another in a container without Off and the arm with Off gets next to no bites but the non-Off arm gets covered in bites? Ha that's nothing. In Alaska they fly in huge swarms and hit in great droves . Forget big, Alaska mosquitoes are huge, I've never seen them so big. But the Bahamas is full of far worse dangerous insect/bug stuff. Surprisingly, snow ( unless it's on top of black ice) is easier than driving rain. Hydroplaning is very scary but you still have good traction on snow.
