Hi Cody,

Sorry we missed each other. The social hour was at Ticoz at 7th and Camelback Rd.,
Phoenix. This was the 1st one. It is gonna be 1st Monday of each month 6:30pm.

So maybe you can make the next on in August. It's Sponsored by Phoenix Pride Committee. We can probably meet up before that if you would like.

After school is finished thinking about relocating to Phoenix, Az!! Can anyone suggest and area to live in that is gay friendly?? I have looked into apartments already, they are beautiful and all have a swimming pool too so just wondering where I should focus on that would be helpful.

Also looking to meet other BFP people in the area.

Hi Gail!
all i can say is just about all the Phoenix area is gay friendly. actually i would say all of Az. as far as living here i really like the NW part of Phoenix/Glendale. i lived there for years. i wouldnt sugest anything farther west of Avondale. i moved here from Calif. and have found this whole state to be friendly, no mater who you are. Good luvk and let us know where /when you land here! as far as the weather the farther north you get the cooler it will be. we have a few weeks of very hot weather, durning that time everyone stays in the a/c or the pool! them we have the monsoons for a few weeks they are not usually bad. 15 20 min wind and rain storms that are actually refreshing. gays bars? there are several we even have one that is a womans bar that is mostly country with 2 step and line dance classes a couple times a week. late in the eves they are very well rounded with the music.

QueenofSmirks

Absolutely!! My official start date is Sept 7 - I should arrive around Sept 5. Hope to have an apartment by the 7th, and I'm pretty sure I won't have any problem getting one - the only problem I'll have is figuring out which one to pick! LOL This isn't the first time I'm moving across the country, so I've done this before, a few times actually. I'm really excited though!!

By any chance, does anyone on the thread play poker??? I'm a Texas Hold'em player, so I'm thrilled that there are casinos and card rooms nearby! I love Atlantic City, but it's a 2-hour drive from where I live now, so it'll be great to not have to drive that far!

I'll be around for several weeks, but wil be offline the week I'm traveling. Let's do plan something though!! Maybe we can swap contact info offlist.

Stay cool :)

I wouldn't say that this state is friendly to/for anyone other than white, middle-aged and hopefully male, straight-acting, republican mormons without a lot of university education and zero ecological or political concern.

There are a few less-hateful places in central phoenix (and definitely Tucson!) but nowhere welcoming if you're a POC.

Most of the gays that I've come across are content with a "lifestyle" that isn't officially recognized, or that is 'downlow' and are not out or just out to close friends or other gays in the community. (That I want and think everyone is deserving of human rights, like *yesterday* has/does put more than a few people off--but I am not *from* here. ;) )

The phx GLBTIQ center is a tiny store front in a strip mall. The state just implemented a law that bans ethnic studies and also *requires* the police to stop and question anyone they suspect to be in arizona "illegally" --without any clear guidelines as how to enforce this law without 'racial profiling'. ...And today it's 115 degrees.

Where are you moving *from*?

Well with that said I'm moving from NJ which is not too gay friendly either its all in NYC which is time consuming and costs money to go into all the time!! but the Mormon thing scares a bit. That is just a cult in my minds eye!! I did research on that religion and yeah its a cult. Also I'm Jewish and gay!! I'm really going for the weather because its warm and don't want to winter anymore!!

I was concerned with the Mormon influence before I moved to AZ. I really met it 'head on' when I live in White Mountains region and Prescott area. Yes I would agree as apretty stated there is more a 'down low' community in the Phoenix area. As far as women's club there is only one identified as in the Phoenix area such in the Phoenix.

But to AZ's credit, more so here in other states, I've lived there is a large mixed gay crowd in most bars and hetro/gay places. However, I am not much for bars as a place for meeting people.

AZ has elected and appointed officals that are outwardly gay.

Thanks for the input but I think that there has to be non-Mormon communities around. I know for a fact that there are Jews in the area. North Central Phoenix is very Jewish but yeah I hear you on the Mormon thing, its really scary!! The LDS was behind the Prop 8 in California banning gay marriage in that state. The Mormons are very anti-gay, anti-everything!! But I will take that in mind before the final decision is to be made!!

Any butch-femme happenings going on in PHoenix these days, still thinking about relocating to that state so I don't have tot deal with the traffic and winter. NJ is just too damn crowded for me!! I want some place where you can really drive your car and not get a headache in the process. It took me 45 minutes to get a lamb kebob platter from Whole Foods in Paramus, NJ which is only about 5 miles away!!

I'm not trying to start a holy war - and for the record, I'm atheist, so it isn't a personal religious thing, but I have to say, the comment above about Mormons being "very anti-gay, anti-everything", and the "mormon thing" being "really scary"........ really?

I personally know several mormons, a couple of them are even gay. They aren't anti-gay or scary.

Frankly, I'm appalled at blanket statements targeting any group, religious or otherwise, especially on a site like this where a very "targeted" group of people come together for socializing, entertainment and/or support.

I personally don't give a crap what the religious make-up is in a community. I've lived all over, I've conducted business all over, with and amongst a variety of people. Why would I care what a stranger's religious beliefs are? What does that really have to do with me?

I lived in Colorado for most of my life - the first state to put anti-gay legislation to a vote (in 1994?), sponsored by the Christian group Focus On The Family. Do I support right-wing Christian beliefs and politics? No. Did I leave Colorado because of it? No.

I just can't imagine shunning a place to live because it has a predominant religious group.

I was not agreeing with 'apretty' about the 'anti' statements she made about the Mormons. My experience with Mormon saturated areas in Central AZ, has more to do with the practices of female suppression and refusing jobs to persons who were not Mormon. I have not met with that attitude in Phoenix or west valley. But then again, if you moved into a Quaker or Amish community you would most likely meet the same thing. (ok I may be chewing my toes now). On the contrary, my neighbor who is also Hispanic and Mormon was the first to greet me to the neighborhood when I moved in my house 2yrs ago. My friends that are RLDS donot hold the same interpretation of the beliefs as do LDS. I donot believe in putting people including gays in boxes. I have come to understand, people acquire wisdom through environment, experience and dimension of their lives.

I apologize if gave any other impression.

i disagree with this but only from my personal expierances.. i moved here from the san francisco bay area and was pleasantly suprised how friendly people were to me.. from the biker bars to strangers in the park. if i didnt push my bizz on them they didnt push theres on my and were very friendly. i never try to push my lifestyle-religon- or morals on anyone and if im treated with the same respect i consider it a grat day. no way would i expect a new aquintance to fully understand where ive been or what makes me who i am.

to clarify, i didn't make any "anti" statements about mormons.

to be clear, i could detail my disdain for mormons in about 40 different ways (from their political involvement to the high mormon gay teen suicide/homeless stats) it's just that no one was asking my take religion, in this particular thread.

i did summarize my arizona experience.

Queenofsmirks-- You should see Prop 8: The mormon proposition --It played here in a single theatre for all of a week.

Queenofsmirks-- You should see Prop 8: The mormon proposition --It played here in a single theatre for all of a week.

Please understand, I'm not here to change anyone's view of the Mormon religion, or any religion for that matter. I'm sure 'Prop 8' outlines the very scum of the Mormon religion but I don't need to see it to know that religious zealots of ALL religions get up to no good in the name of their religious beliefs. As an aside, I'm not stranger to the Mormon religion - I actively boycotted Utah for its political stance on many issues, but none of this is really the point of my previous post.

The point I tried to make earlier is that not *all people* of one religion can be classified as this or that. I personally have an extreme disdain for the Catholic religion, but I think if I posted "All Catholics are pedophiles" it might seem a bit ignorant.

As an aside, a good point was made by FriskyFemme, (which I think I started to make in my own post but then got sidetracked), and that is that quality of life is important no matter where you live. If you live in an area that is unsafe or discriminatory toward you, then you certainly need to re-examine your surroundings.

As far as being discriminated against because of being female and not belonging to the predominant religion - I totally get it because I was treated the same way by some of the Jews in the neighborhood when I lived in Queens. Lucky for me I didn't have to rely upon them for work, or frankly, for anything else. I just took my business elsewhere, but that was easy enough to do given the area I lived in.

Bottom line - there are zealots in every religion, but I personally can't think of a single religion where every member can be completely defined by its values.

i disagree with this but only from my personal expierances.. i moved here from the san francisco bay area and was pleasantly suprised how friendly people were to me.. from the biker bars to strangers in the park. if i didnt push my bizz on them they didnt push theres on my and were very friendly. i never try to push my lifestyle-religon- or morals on anyone and if im treated with the same respect i consider it a grat day. no way would i expect a new aquintance to fully understand where ive been or what makes me who i am.

Hello Cody,

I'm not really sure what you mean about pushing your bizz, lifestyle, religion or morals on people. It sounds like you've had good experiences here in Arizona.

I guess for me it just depends on how far I want to take my head out of the sand. If I want to live and work in a place where I've seen strangers and co-workers openly mock gay people I'd stay in Phoenix. If I want to live in a place where I can be out and about all day long and rarely see a POC except in the poorest of neighborhoods or working out in a field I'd stay in Phoenix. If I want to stay in a place where my gf's 10 year old niece has a teacher who says that the most of the native kids are "bad" I'd stay here in Phoenix. If I want to stay in a place where in January the Governor declared a "day of prayer for the state budget" instead of actually doing her job, I'd stay in Arizona. And if I want to live in place that has the law in place to pull people over based on skin color I'd stay in Arizona. I've lived in four states since I've been an adult and honestly I've never lived in a place where hate is so VISIBLE and most people seem SO OKAY with it.

Arizona has beautiful sunsets and some wonderous and scenic places. It also has a low cost of living which in these tough times is rare.

So inconclusion Cody, if by you saying "no way would i expect a new aquintance to fully understand where ive been or what makes me who i am" I would agree. And please, correct me if I'm wrong here, you are saying that in AZ you perceive people being of tolerant of you. For me tolerance does not equal acceptance though. I've lived in AZ for nine months and I don't see a lot of acceptance of gays or people of color here. It really came down to that for my gf and I. We choose not to live here because of that.

well all i can say is i dont have kids in the school system but i did work the first three years i lived here i was fairly lucky with the work i found other then a couple places that were way under paid due to the alility to hire cheap labor in this state. i am retired now and have ssdi an a full pension from a union job in calif.. the one thing i do not like about this state is that it is a right to work state and i strongly believe in the unions.
i am out 24/7 where ever i go and have had no problems here. i have been in what were suposed to be openly gay state and have been beat, knived shot at and yelled at from car windows just for my appearance. being very much male id ed.. with my driver lisence showing my true name that is very girly my trouble usually will start at that point when i have to show id.. but i have never thought or even tried to pull of the male roll and im sure people are not just always assuming im male... all i can say is that i have never encountered the same problems like i have in san francisco, chiago, bronx, portland.= or other larger citys i have lived in or worked in. but then i also got along well in oklahoma city and tulsa. people have the right to live where ever they want.
as far as what i mean by pushing my bizz on others.. it was meant as i do not go into a straight bar and make out with my girl friend.... i dont do that in public ever not matter where im at. but i do introduce my date or g/f as such i dont hide it but i dont push it either.. introduction and let it be. if someone is allowed to act an ass i let them unless i have femme company then i simply take myself and her elsewhere. am i afraid .. no way at 5'10 225 lbs mostly muscel and have obviously walked alot of roads people dont generaly fuck with me. if i am missing you point please excuse me .. grrr i have been taking pain killers for dental work.. but i think im responding correctly. i also believe people have the right to there opinions.. all i can say when i hear people complain about where they live then move! for me i love it here.. all except the "to hot to even ride days"
i may have been very lucky in my employment one of my employers was a trucking company that had two tg- mtf's driving for them and had no problem with them wearinf there female id to any company funtions or anywhere else they were not treated any diffrently then anyone else.. yes some of the other drivers disc'd them but only under there breath. if they want to continue work there they had to keep it to themselfs. and this is one of the largest companys in az. every state is going to have its good and bad just like every employer is going to have its workers and its slackers. it all part of life and being able to accept other for who they are with out judgement. yes az has a problem with illeagles and the crime that is brought from it. but they are trying to find ways to deal with it. i dont alway agree with the way the state handles it but sometimes i do. i am not at that level politicly and i am glad those decisions are not made my just one person but made by votes and majority feelings of the people that live here. do i agree maybe,, do i disagree maybe. some yes and some no. i do vote and that is my part of the job.. am i going to toss fits because things are not how i want them no i will either learn to live with majority, keep my mouth shut or leave.

Being a state employee...I know all to well of how a governor can alter my benefits...
As a state employee we are not allowed to picket or give our opinions o the media.
This is the same in all states not just AZ. We depend on concerned citizens o be our voice. So if the people of the state don't stand up and vote...we are all screwed (state employees and private citizens alike).

It isn't just state employees - larger corporations demand certain "standards" from their employees as well. I work for a large financial firm - we are not to talk publicly about anything involving our company, we are not allowed to speak to the media, we are not allowed to engage in any activity that might be deemed "a conflict of interest"; we have to disclose ALL business-related activity (i.e. part time jobs, stock trading, business ventures, etc). That's a pretty tight leash. Unfortunately in this economy, I'm not going to make much of a stink about it. If there was anything in the "rules" that I was just absolutely against, couldn't live with, etc... I would file a grievance and quit. But, so far, it hasn't been an issue.

aww not in the phoenix area... i think of the north side along the I40 around flagstaff. as far as phoenix area the farest north you can get will be cooler. but just think the winters in the valley are great!! im just tired of the summers here. even the east side is a bit cooler then the west.

yep according to my GF in Mesa its about 5-10degrees cooler there(eastside). More rain over that way too. I like the Valley except in summer. But it's a tradeoff, I'll take the heat over the cold anyday. I am real whimpy about being cold. Even air conditioning below 80 degrees, My roommates like it around 72, freezes me out. Burrr.

Well, my office is in downtown Phoenix, and I would really like to live within 20 minutes of there, but am willing to live a little further (Scottsdale, etc) if I find a really fabulous place that is just sooo much more amazing than anything in Phoenix; but frankly, of all the places I've looked at online, I don't think I'm going to have any problem finding a great place close to the office.

I DEFINITELY would love for all of us to get together once I'm settled... like maybe early October? I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone.

FF, thanks especially to you for making me feel welcome on this thread. I don't know a single person in AZ, so it's nice to know there are some welcoming people here! :)

Yep,

Tempe-home of ASU. Definitely a college town, plenty of fast foods and dance clubs.
Less expensive housing too. Tempe Town Lake dam broke a couple of weeks ago big loss of income for Tempe. Projecting to have it repaired by Nov.when Snowbirds return.

Tempe also just opened a huge Aquarium. I havent seen it yet, but looks great. My 2 fav (so far) aquariums - Monterey Bay and Chicago.

You would probably due well (health wise ) considering hot/cold issue. Prescott, Cottonwood, Sedona, ShowLow, Payson. They are the Central Band of AZ. The weather is a 4 seasons area, but not the tempature extremes. However, it is a trade off for cultural and community(each is at least 1 1/2 hrs from Phoenix or Flagstaff).

Have you visited AZ? You really should visit in Summer so you can check out different regions during the Monsoon season June to Sept (worse weather July/Aug). I vacationed in AZ for 5yrs several regions coming different times of the year before I moved here. I think there is something for everyone here-snow, mountains, and desert. You're welcome to come anytime. :)

Thanks for the words of encouragement! :) This is actually not the first time I'm making a big move like this. The first time was 9 years ago when I left my hometown in Colorado to move to NYC. That was tough. And this move I have felt really really good about until Friday when I had to say goodbye to several people I'm really close with. All of the sudden, I started doubting my decision, and I still feel a little down today, but I know it's the right decision, at least for right now :)

Enough of that!

I am really looking forward to getting together with you all when I get settled in! Just out of curiosity, does anyone besides me gamble? LOL I plan to spend lots of time at the casinos!

Stephanie,

Sounds good. I assume you're talking about Casino Arizona at Talking Sticking Resort? at Indian Bend?

The one at McKellips is considered Mesa now. It is the original Casino Arizona. I used to go this one years ago when I lived in Scottsdale. LOL :)

Next Friday night is a retirement party for one coworker and celebration party for another coworker who just became an American citizen.

I could meet up afterwards or Sat. if that works for others ... I'm pretty flexible.

On second thought, Saturday may be too soon (FF - I sent you a PM). To give folks time to plan ahead, how about we plan to meet for dinner Saturday October 9 around 5pm at Casino Arizona at Talking Stick Resort (101 Loop and Indian Bend). Then we can hang out and play afterward.
Who's in????

I have a general idea of where that is.

I think Friday will be almost impossible though, so count me in for Saturday! Just give me the details (I saw you said you'd post in this thread); time, place, where to park, any other tips, etc. Just an FYI - I'm nursing an injured knee, so I probably won't stay the whole day - the standing/walking will likely determine how long I can hang out, but either way, I'm looking forward to it! :)

hey all,

I am going on Sat to Pride. Whadya think about meeting inside the gate? Is there more than one?

I found this info:

Reid Park (at E. 22nd St. and S. Country Club Rd.), the Pride in the Desert Festival takes place from 10 am until 8 pm and features dozens of prominent performers. This year's lineup includes such notables as Jonny McGovern & Team Pimp, Ari Gold, Adam Joseph, God-des & She, Boys R Us, Marc Pedraza, Courtney Robbins, Namoli Brennet, Dragstar Cabaret, Angie Evans, Sabra Faulk, Patty Larkin, and many others. Performances on the Main Stage are emceed by Mistress of Ceremonies Bunny Fu Fu, and there's additional talent performing at folk-spirited Coffeehouse Stage.

I am looking forward to the meet.

Unfortunately I don't think I'm going to be able to make it. I have a lot going on and weekends are filling up quickly. As you know, a lot of places aren't open on Sunday, so that makes Saturdays even more valuable.

Sorry to bag out on this, I really wanted to go.

Hi Gail!
all i can say is just about all the Phoenix area is gay friendly. actually i would say all of Az. as far as living here i really like the NW part of Phoenix/Glendale. i lived there for years. i wouldnt sugest anything farther west of Avondale. i moved here from Calif. and have found this whole state to be friendly, no mater who you are. Good luvk and let us know where /when you land here! as far as the weather the farther north you get the cooler it will be. we have a few weeks of very hot weather, durning that time everyone stays in the a/c or the pool! them we have the monsoons for a few weeks they are not usually bad. 15 20 min wind and rain storms that are actually refreshing. gays bars? there are several we even have one that is a womans bar that is mostly country with 2 step and line dance classes a couple times a week. late in the eves they are very well rounded with the music.

err I live near sun city...and for those in the cheap seats thats snowbirdville lol..however, my partner and I have both noticed alot of couples b/f couples actually living up here in surprise/sun city area...we have many many friends up here..and have all noticed alot of us moving up here..I know I am technically NW of Avondale..but I would say I live in an extremely gay friendly area..I am not bothered and neither are my neighbors :0 so lets have a :wine: and enjoy this beautiful evening..its cool and breezy and dare I say about to storm? :byebye:

p.s.
I have now subscribed to this post and will check it more frequently...this was a bad month to try to make any plans since all my weekends till november are booked with family..but I sure hope ya'll have a great time..and perhaps I can find a way to join ya'll another time...

Hi Lillie,

Welcome to the thread. I'm sorry you can't make today. However, if you're interested or anyone for that matter, I am a member in a group that meets on Sundays in a downtown Glendale, gay owned, restaurant. They give us their banquet room! The members are mainly professionals or retired professionals.

Wow, what a nice surprise today! 7 of us showed up, from near and far! I really enjoyed it and can't wait to do it again! Let's try to pick a date soon so we can all block it off. I think we agreed to meet in Maricopa, and I would assume we'll spend much of the day/evening there. As FF mentioned at today's lunch, and I agreed, it will likely have to be sometime in December as weekends in October/November are already filling up or are full for some of us. For me personally, I can do Saturday December 11 and that's about it unless plans change that are already in place. Of course, if a different date works for you all and I can't make it, I'll just catch up with you next time :)

Speaking of Maricopa.... this is a question for the group -- can we pick a date soon so everyone can block it off? I changed some plans so besides December 11th, I could also do November 20/21.

Sorry you didn't make this meet. Hopefully you can make a future meet. In these hard financial times, we need to help each we don't have to always meet out. We can meet at individuals' place too. Ok so I am distance illiterate. Harrah's still good with you? ;)

Nov 20 still sounds good to me....
Right this minute I am sitting in my hotel room in
Laughlin, NV after a night of blackjack and unimaginable
Fun and laughter!

I am up about three hundred bucks, gonna take a shower and a nap and then start all over again!

I forgot the dang camera, but will try and take some
cell phone pics and post them when I get back on Sunday...

Hope everyone's weekend is a good one...

November 20th is saved on my calendar -- where are we meeting??? What time?

Jo- I hope your gambling success continued into the next day and for the rest of your trip! I haven't played poker at all lately -- had company for 4 days and now I'm getting ready to take a trip to L.A. to visit family this weekend. I'll probably play at the Bicycle Casino while I'm there! :)

Hey everyone,
How's things going? Harrah's Casino in Maricopa, 1pm, Nov. 11. How's that sound to you?
We could meet for lunch at the Harrah's buffet first. What do ya think?

QueenofSmirks

I think their daily poker tournament starts around 11am, so I'll probably be there before you all get there; won't be able to join you for lunch unless I"m out by then, which is HIGHLY possible LOL So, text me when you arrive and I'll come and find you.

Anyone else planning to show up????

QueenofSmirks
11-07-2010, 08:48 AM
I changed my mind. I will play cash poker that way I can get up and leave anytime without penalty. That way I can have lunch with you all :) This of course is all based on the idea that we WILL actually have a gathering! Seems like interest has kind of fallen off.

Anyone else planning on going???

Hey Folks,
I apologize about the date in my post. I am planning on Nov 20 at 1pm. LOL! Can we get a head count? Does anyone want to carpool? Doesn't Harrah's have a shuttle from Phoenix? I would be good either way.

Hey FF.... I am starting to think we don't have enough interest for Nov. 20th :( If it doesn't pan out, I plan to be at the West Side coffee gathering on Sunday (the next day), so maybe I'll see you there?

Also, I'll be posting a dinner gathering soon for either Dec. 7th or 8th - 6:30pm. Stay tuned....

I do hope to see my new acquaintances from last month. If not at Harrah's, where?

The West Valley group meets for breakfast on Sundays at 10am at Bitzee Mama's downtown Glendale.

We can meet at one of the many festivals ongoig during this season. Suggestions?

Are we still meeting at Harrah's this Saturday?

I'd say we're officially a "no go" for this one. Haven't seen or heard of anyone else attending.

I say we try to get Cody to agree to us going up North for a weekend and hitting the casinos up there. :)

Hi all! Our little group is growing, so I thought I'd throw this out there again for anyone interested in joining... If anyone would like to join the Arizona Butch, Femme, Trans group, please email or PM your email address to me and I'll send you an invite. You can also join by going to Yahoo Groups and searching for AZBFT or go here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AZBFT/

At our last gathering (last week) we discussed a trip to Casa Grande to meet up with our peeps in Tucson. I know December is out of the question, and frankly, January is already filling up for me. So I'd like to propose a Saturday or Sunday in February. Who's interested???

I don't know if the Casa Grande thing is going to work out for February - none of the three peeps that live in Tucson have been around much lately, and my calendar is filling up very quickly.

In other news, some of us are planning a weekender to Laughlin - so please post here or PM me to let me know if you're interested. I won't be posting specific details here (just for the sake of privacy), but some preliminary things will be posted here. We're planning to go May 7 and 8 - still working on other details.

All you need to do is Google "Arizona"
or "Phoenix" and it should give you all the info you need.
Personnaly though, I'd rather be in Tucson,
It has a "small town feel", but has everything you need
or could want. Plus you can get almost anywhere - mountains
or beach, Vegas, etc in a reasonavble amount of time.

When you get here - welcome to Arizona!

Yay! We need more BFPers in Phoenix!! I moved here last September from New Jersey, but actually grew up in Colorado :)

Please feel free to PM me if you want to chat.

I recommend www.rent.com for apartments; that's how I found mine, and I absolutely LOVE IT! But in addition to rent.com, after you find places you think you want to look at, I recommend doing a yahoo or google search for reviews of the apartment complex. I found them to be invaluable. Also, stay away from private owners renting their houses or condos out - many of them are in foreclosure and I've heard several horror stories from people being evicted without notice (a guy in my office has had this happen twice in the past year).

For jobs - there is a local website called Jobing.com. I haven't looked at it; I transferred here with my company, so it's one of the things I didn't have to look for. There is also Craigslist of course, Monster.com, etc.

I can tell you, for me personally, I am loving the weather here so far, although we're getting ready for the Summer blast but I'll take that over SNOW any day!

Depending on what you like and dislike about Colorado, you may or may not like Phoenix. I would say the pace is a reminscent of parts of Colorado; Phoenix is spread out like Denver but less populated. There are mountains on all sides which is just beautiful.

What things do you like to do for fun?

I am making my first trip to Vegas since living here - 4.5 hour drive from my apartment (in North Phoenix).. woo hoo! I can't wait!!

Please let me know if there is anything I can help you with :)

Hey there fellow Arizonans!
Just wanted to say a big HOWDY to you all and I miss my home state an awful lot. I'm from Flagstaff/Sedona area and moved out of state over a year ago. I'll be back home to stay for more than a visit when the time is right. Until then, thanks for taking care of my home while I'm away. :cowboihorse:

I read about this today, and while I obviously cannot go I thought I'd share it with the AZ people here who may be interested.

Looks interesting. If you go let me know how it was. :)

Howdy from GA. I'm posting in the AZ site because I travel to AZ for work on a regular basis. I'm always looking for some femme friendly activity where I can be myself and not be in professional mode the whole time.

I'll check you all out when I'm coming to town. I love that some of you are posting links about local happenings.

I'll see you mid-October!!!!

I thought I posted.

I'll be in Arizona for a short one October 18th-20th. Anybody want to gather on Thursday the 19th?

I did notice that someone had a birthday that day... What say ye?

Happy Holidays, fellow AZers!

Should we try to get together for coffee or a casual lunch in Phoenix sometime soon??? Or... maybe Harrah's in Maricopa on a Saturday???

Welcome! Where did you move from? I moved about a year and 4 months ago from New Jersey.

The thread has been quiet, not much activity anyway but maybe we can get something going! :)

Hi There,

This thread has not been active but there is a nice local community in the area and Phoenix is in general pretty lgbt friendly.

I will be back in CA soon but can put you in touch with some locals when you do head out this way.
