So I thought I would start a thread where we can post all things about the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Please share videos, websites, thoughts, comments, trials, about his family, kids, etc.. A place to remember and keep his memory alive. Thanks!

Conrad Murray's trial is underway for the death of Michael Jackson. Guilty or not guilty? Any professionals out there to discuss his medication, dosage, etc...

Agreed. I hope that justice will come out of this. As to what the Doctor did or didn't do, we won't know until we start to see some stuff come out in the trial. Thus far, his actions (based on hearsay, certainly) are not stellar. It's not to say that Michael was perfect but I think he was far too naive at times.

I got to see him (from nosebleed seats) in Toronto during the Jacksons' Triumph tour. I was hoping to see him during the HBO concert that got cancelled and had tickets but ... Sigh.

Oh I have a few still:

- some original DJ vinyls
- Full MJ trading card set
- pictures and such from magazines (including Life magazine)

Some other stuff. I'd have to check the box with all that in it.

I never wore parachute pants, but I did watch the Jackson 5 cartoon on TV when I was a kid.

And,

I was working at the hotel where the Jackson's stayed in Knoxville during the Victory Tour. What a night!

I had Thriller and Off the Wall. Probably still do. LOL.

Listening to MJ at work today.

I live in Michael's hometown "Scary Gary". Myor Rudy Clay has named him "The Prince", the humble house he was born in always has some flowers in front, where diehard fans still park there to visit. Janet also was born here and lived in the house until she was five or so. If you drive through downtown on Broadway, you will see the "Jackson Five " on the marquee of a falling down theater where they all performed. He was working too hard to make a big come-back, on the Hollyweird 'hamster wheel of pain".

As a Nurse I can tell you about the medication that Michael's doctor used to help him "sleep". It was called Propofol. I worked in the ICU and we used it to sedate our patients who were on ventilators. Patients receiving this medication would remain in a light coma so they would not pull out their endotracheal tube, the tube connected to the machine that was helping them to breathe.

Nurses commonly called Propofol "Milk of amnesia" because it was a white liquid and patients usually didn't remember what happened during the time while they received it.

Now I am giving MY own opinion only, I do not know Michael's medical history or his tolerance to medication, but i believe Propofol to be an unwise choice of medication for sleep medication alone. It is a VERY strong medication and not one to be given without resuscitation equipment at hand.

ahhh guihong. little Michael! haha. Remember the Jackson 5!?

Starbuck, thanks for that information on Propofol. Apparently in court testimony, Murray didn't even know how to administer proper CPR. Witnesses said he was using one hand for chest compressions and he was saying how he wasn't sure how to breathe into Michael's mouth. They were also saying how he took too long to call 911 and experts were saying he could have been saved if they had only called 911 sooner. I don't know how they can predict that. It seemed like he had a lethal mixture of medication inside of him.. maybe too much for anyone to save him? I think it was just his time to go.. ):

His poor kids. Does anyone know who has custody of them?

I remember watching the Jackson 5 cartoon when I was a kid, I loved it. Now I'm dating myself, LOL. When I was in the seventh grade I had posters of Michael on my wall and a hidden article about him and his brothers on which I'd written "I love love love Michael Jackson!" Well my parents found the article and since they were racist, they took the article and my poster, and gave me the talk about how "white folk and black folk don't mix". I didn't see Michael as black, he was just another person, and my hero! I never saw my poster again.

Thankfully I grew up and un-learned the prejudice they taught me when I joined the Army, because one of the FIRST things you're taught in the service is that you WILL learn to count on your brothers and sisters of all colors and creed, because your life may depend on it! I'm so thankful for that re-education because racism is just plain ignorance and fear. What's more, I've been able to educate my parents about how I don't like their racism and they are changing! :)

My first exposure to this song was an elementary school talent show drag king performance - this girl I'd never met dressed up like michael jackson and lipsynced to this song in front of a mirror. It was awesome and the song stuck with me.

I remember what I was doing the moment I heard of his death. I was just getting into my neighbor's Expedition to leave for Long Island. It was a 7 hour trip and all the way there radio stations were talking about it and playing his music. Its so sad because the younger generation will not know what tremendous talent he really was. We got to witness first hand his accomplishments. They are gonna have to hear about through us and watch old video's, etc. to know.

So beling at the reunion made me think of this thread.

Joe Jackson was staying at the Peabody and was everywhere.

Every time I saw his smarmy smirk I wanted to poke his eye out.

I work in operating room where propofol is used daily for managed anesthesia care. if Micheal had hired a CRNA or Anesthesiologist trained to used it, he would still be alive.

That is making me wonder why he is receiving a lesser charge of involuntary manslughter, when in fact he (murray) knew the risks, didn't have the proper equiptment on hand to administer it, and wasn't paying attention to his patient.....among other things.....why not voluntary manslaughter?

We'll have to wait until sentencing to see. And remember, he COULD recieve up to four years, and he MAY loose his license. The only thing that has happened is he was found guilty, and is in jail. (curious too, if he'll get out on a bond)

If you enter this world knowing you are loved, and leave this world knowing the same, then everything that happens in between can be dealt with. Michael Jackson.
