There is a "thing" among some yarn folk. It's a Square Swap.

Here's how it works:

Each person makes 12(or whatever the number is) squares of a certain size and colorway.

They mail eleven squares to the other eleven people in their group.

They get eleven squares back.

Then you can put those squares into a blanket for yourself of for a giveaway.

There is no set style to the square other than size and color choices. Usually it's a 6 month? time frame. I think that is right.

So would anyone be interested in doing this?

Some swaps I've seen have been :

Red, White And Blue
Red and Purple
Spring colors
Variegated only
I've got the Blues (various shades of blue)

So? :) It's a good way to try out different yarns and patterns if you like that sort of thing.

Hey! That sounds really cool!

So do have a blanket size in mind, or a wall-hanging size? And what colorways are you thinking?

:heartbeat:

Cath, what I'm thinking is a blanket since I have no use for something to hang on the wall. I think once we get a good group for this, then we can decide size and color. One I really liked was the one where you chose shades of a color -- like purple or blue--and then did a certain size square and edged it in two rows of black. :)

What do you think?

Bit

Sounds good to me! I like the edging idea because it will add drama yet also continuity.

Arwen

Here's how one group does it. CLICKY (http://www.knitting-crochet.com/swapclub/afgsquswarule.html)

8 squares x 8"s = 64 inches So that's a 4x4 blanket making it 32" across. Not really big enough. LOL

We might have to do a team of at least 10 people doing 2 8" squares for each member. That would be 20 8" squares total per person. That's a lot but if you do Granny Squares, those go super fast.

So I guess it would be up to the group.

I'd sure like to try though.

10 people doing 8 " squares x 2 so each person ends up with 20 8" squares. If you do four across and five rows that's 32" x 40", right? Lord Love A Duck, I don't do math well.

Bit

That's too many squares, love, and too much joining at the end. Let's make it simple, 12" squares, k? 12 of them would give us lap robes 3 squares by 4 squares--3 feet by 4 feet.

16 squares would give us 4 feet by 4 feet; that would cover a more ample lap. :cheesy:

I like that. SEE! This is why I needed you on this. :dimbulb: So 12 12" squares is a good start.

Now we need more vic...er participants.

Remember, these can be knitted or crocheted squares.

Who else wants to play?

Cath, what color shall we start with?

I kinda like the idea of doing a purple and red one in honor of the Red Hat Society. lol.

I like Autumn Jewel Tones--purple and red are part of that. :cheesy:

Yes, we do need more vic--errr--participants. :eyebat: I'm thinking people might be thinking more in terms of the holidays right now... maybe if we keep the thread bumped, and set a finish date well after the holidays?

Here's my thought.

Sign up by December 31st.
Squares due by April 1st.

That's a four month ...no three month (darn math anyway)... window. Do you think that is doable? :laundryday:How cute is that smiley?

Bit
11-27-2009, 11:28 PM
It's an adorable smiley and I actually used it in context one day when I had to go offline and do laundry. *curtsies* :cheesy:

Oh look! :wateringgarden: Hadn't seen this one yet!

I like that timeframe for sign-up on the Square Swap. Do you think people will really need that long, three months for 12 squares though? I dunno how fast other people might knit or crochet... Will the speedy among us be keeping vigil, waiting? :vigil: :knit::vigil:

:writer: I love this one VERY much, more I think than the others. I would put this in my sig line.

Look at this next set... just cracks me up how they go together...

Cath, we are derailing our own thread. LOL.

Okay. So do we need to do a Dear post? If you think we do, will you do it? hee!

1. 12 people
2. 8" squares (knit or crochet--any pattern)
3. We can do a vote on the color scheme. :)

Yes, we are derailing our own thread. :cheesy:
:grandpiano::danceparty:K, I can invite people to the party, but for 12" squares, right? Because that makes a lap robe that's 3 squares by 4 squares, rather than a baby blanket.

Unless you want to ask for more than 12...? But the math is eluding me tonight... okay, I have forced the brain to cooperate. 4 x5 would be 20 squares but only 32" by 40" finished, kinda small...

You are right! 12" squares.

We need a math person. lol!

So:

1. 12 people:awww:
2. 12 12" squares:wallbreak:
3. Any pattern-knit or crochet (no quilt squares, sorry!):freak:
4. Sign up by Dec 31 (late joiners ok if we don't have enough?):bomb:
5. Squares due by April 30 (That's four months so three squares a month):knitgirl:
6. We'll decide on colors when we get a few more folk in here. :LGBTQFlag:

This is a great idea!

I know that Jess would be glad to see some of the many tubs of yarns I have go somewhere! I ran across a great sale at Michael's last year and well, being tactile... you get the idea! Bamboo... alpaca... oohhhhhh.... makes me wanna go home and just pet the skeins! :freak::freak::knitgirl:

I never learned how to do granny squares, but I am sure I can make something work.

Would someone please be so kind to remind me later in the month? Its a busy time for us :accountant: on a calendar/fiscal year and I wouldnt want to forget!

Make an extra square in the colors of the site and we can stitch them together for a lap quilt to auction at our first Reunion ;)

I found some 12"square patterns online.

12" Knit Squares (2) (http://www.cs.oswego.edu/%7Eebozak/knit/esb-patterns/squares/variegated.html)
A ton of squares (2 knit at the bottom) (http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/grannies.html#12)
Crochet (12" potholders are squares too!) (http://www.jpfun.com/patterns/free/index.shtml)
Knit & Crochet squares (http://www.knitting-crochet.com/swapclub/squpat.html)

I hope you will share your patterns as well!

Can you keep me in mind for the next round? I'm still working on my self-teaching on how to crochet so before I get into doing this, I want to get the simple steps down (tried it last night but... eh.. not so good). Going to get some less-fuzzy yarn this weekend and try again.

Oh whoops..
No, sorry :)
Misunderstood...
Maybe next year :) Right now i have a ton of projects and ..well no : )

Oh how I yearn to 'yarn' with the lovely Merrick. Sitting over a nice cup of tea, chatting about Butches (my favorite topic) doing the girlie chat, either knitting or crocheting, doesn't matter to me which. Although there is something to be said about the unique sound of the needles clicking when knitting.

As soon as I get these hands fixed, may I please request a 'date' with you Merrick and the Ladies? Perhaps at a Tea? ;)

I practiced on small projects when just beginning, the entire time with my holster :quickdraw:buckled tightly at my waist - watching Davy Crockett. What a confused child I was! :huhlaugh:

I fondly recall my very first sweater with two rows of a cable pattern running down the front panels of each side of the buttons - must have been approximately 10 years old, which was nothing more than a mere 25 years ago . . . you do the math! :jester: It was the most hideous multicolored purple however, I was convinced it to be pretty groovy at the time. :giggle:

I do have a question though since it's been so many years having taken on a project, is it still necessary to roll your yarn into those huge balls prior to beginning?

Kudos :bowdown:to all of you for your fascinating concept. Best of luck and have fun y'all.

Come any time :) ... We'll be happy to refresh your hands and memory :)

No worries. :) The squares aren't due until end of April. Want to keep trying until 12/31? Maybe you can find others in your area to knit/crochet with so you can get past that stage? :)

We have eleven folks with a possible twelfth if Hippychickgrl decides to join us.

I am a doofus and spaced the fact that the poll would be on the front page where EVERYONE could vote on it. So it's a freaking mess.

SO!

I would like to hear from all the PARTICIPANTS (only) on what color they want this afghan to be. Remember it is yours to keep or give as a gift so keep that in mind.

Here are the colors we talked about:

Purple (any shade including variegated) Neutral (tan, brown, black, ecru, white, varigated)

Autumn Jewel Tones (Red, Gold, Brown, Ebony, Green, Purple, variegated)

Blue (any shade including variegated)

Rainbow (Red, Orange, Yellow, Blue, Green, Indigo, Violet and variegated)

Next question: Is anyone opposed to a Yahoogroup loop for the sole purpose of exchanging addresses and letting each other know how we are doing?

Autumn Jewel Tones are my fav, followed by the blue family (just not pastels).

Personally, there isnt anywhere in the house we could use rainbow, unless of course, I rig it to a flagpole on the front lawn. :LGBTQFlag: I am sure that the Methodist church congregation across the street would just LOVE that!!!:cracked:

Yahoogroups is fine by me.

Arwen, thanks for all your efforts in coordinating this!

I managed to do the pink/green square yesterday! I am quite proud that I was able to figure it out! LOL I figure out depreciation schedules, accruals and the like... heaven forbid I not be able to figure out a granny square! LOL

Who do you think keeps her yarns, needles and "stuff" all neat and organized? Her amazing craftiness keeps the HouseDaddy in job security! ( Read: she can be Daddy's lil messmaker at times :cheer:

I have tried over the years to do these needlecraft arts, because folks said it would help me relax and focus. RELAX???? EGADS! My internal pressure to do things perfectly goes into overdrive. I guess I am just not a "crafty" feller. I do so very much appreciate this skill/ art in others though!

Just a reminder... Autumn colors include chocolate brown and deep jewel-tone blues, plus the camel-khaki-tan-mushroom family of neutrals. We don't necessarily have to be limited, yanno?

The difference between Autumn tones and say, Winter tones, is that Autumn colors are very warm--even the blues--and Winter colors are very pure (including all the icy blues).

So what fibers do people have in mind? Like Nick, I would prefer to work in wool, but I know everyone can't necessarily afford that. I think we have to consider shrinkage and washability of the finished blankets... if we use too many different fibers, they may shrink at different rates.

I'd like to have a set group of colors just so we can all stay within the same range. No more than 7-9 choices. Can you come up with a list and some pictures for reference? This is sooo not my strong suit!

I can not afford wool plus I'm allergic to it. I break out if it is against my skin. :(:hospital-snoopy:

Yarn stores rock
sooooo is it acceptable to leave one's butch:king: at a medical procedure and go to the yarn store with his card?:deepthoughts:
Oh the difficult choices I face in life

soo we need:

range of yarn colors:

type of yarn:
(cotton, acrylic,?)
yarn weight?:
(sport, worsted)

perhaps needle size range?:

Bit
12-08-2009, 01:26 PM
Ami, the squares need to be 12" finished, so I would imagine any needle/hook that works with your yarn and pattern to get that size. Worsted weight yarn usually crochets nicely with an F hook, I think, doesn't it?

Me, I just pick up hooks and try them till I like the way it looks. *sheepish smile*

I can not afford wool plus I'm allergic to it. I break out if it is against my skin. :(:hospital-snoopy:

Then no wool for sure! And yes, I wondered about costs.

Um, Autumn colors... http://www.color-chart.org/blog/tag/autumn-color-palette/ This is someone's blog entry with three separate Autumn color charts, maybe it will give us a starting point?

Also the Autumn blues are turquoise, teal, and dark periwinkle, in case anyone was mystified.

We will do twelve squares in the colorway that wins. So far it is looking like Autumn Jewel Tones are in the lead.

So:

Twelve 12" squares (make sure they are 12"--lol)
I will be sending out an email invitation from the Yahoogroup by Sunday. This will be an email loop where we can discuss this and exchange addresses etc.
The size of the yarn and hook/needles do not matter as long as the final product is 12". The whole point is to have something with character, yes? :)

Linus -

I didnt know how to make a granny square either... until I happened upon this link: http://www.purlbee.com/granny-square-project/

After a couple of tries, it made perfect sense. It had always bothered me that I could do some of the more difficult stitches, but not the granny square.

I don't care what patterns, how simple or intricate. I think that the love that goes into each square is what will make the finished product beautiful...

there are web sites that have a much larger selection of yarn colors than most stores here have.

we have 2 knitting stores here, but they are more high end specialty stores. (as in they don't sell stuff walmart would carry)

Well, I got two different brands, so my color names don't match... in Vanna's Choice I got Mustard and Autumn Red, which I think translate to Gold and Deep Claret. In Caron Simply Soft I got Deep Teal Heather, which I think translates to Greenhouse.

And then, yanno, I did a granny square and realized I was working with red green and gold... holiday colors. lol.... but Autumnish, oh so very Autumnish!

What did you end up with, Ami? It sure is hard matching colors to computer screens, but then, it can be hard matching colors to themselves too; my first green was a lighter jade green to match that first one we picked, and the yarn skeins held together seemed wonderful! But then when I started the granny square it was actually boring and needed a different green, and I had to go get the teal to make the colors pop again.

Love your square. I am going to try my variegated on the outer row. Love how yours looks!

HELP HELP HELP y'all!

I love to cart my crochet around with me. This means I have several balls at a time in my purse (do not go there). The darn things get all tangled up all the time.

There has to be a simple solution to this. I've thought about getting 1 gal zip lock bags to stick them in. Any other ideas?

a solution?
why yes I do!

1. I do mine by color, so i have my 1st test one done and i have
11 more gold centers done. I will now carry those and my green yarn
that way only one yarn carried at a time.

2. you can buy yarn caddies and you can make them. any container the size of the yarn can be used. You cut a hole for the strand of yarn to come out.
http://www.stitchwhimsy.com/2007/11/04/alternative-to-expensive-yarn-caddy/

3. you can also roll yarn into balls that don't use all the yarn (like the size of tennis balls and actually use a tennis ball holder to keep them in when you are out and about.

also can you carry a tote and your purse?

[SIZE="3"]If I were doing this for myself I would most likely change patterns. But since each person is getting one square I thought i would make the same one for each. but that is me, any way is gonna be great!

ummm... there is another solution...

iffin you don't laugh at me..

you can put each yarn-ball in nylons. As in the kind that only cover to knees or feets depending on your ball size.

My grandma used to stuff her purse with the free ones you can find at shoe stores.

I can piece the pink and green afghan, Arwen, unless someone else wants to. If anyone wants to make more than one square for it, I can also make enough extra to make sure we have another full row.

I carry my yarn in the bag they sacked it in at the craft store, but I only take it to the laundromat. When I was taking thread crochet everywhere, I did use zipper bags to keep the thread and project together and clean in my bag.

Progress: Four squares done, fifth halfway. Mine are all standard granny squares but I change the color emphasis from square to square, since I started running out of gold already. *eeep*

Sweet. If everyone who is doing a pink/green square or two will send theirs to Cath along with their square for her, that would be swell.

I have two done and one almost done. Halfway through the next-to-last row.

We still have two folks who have not joined the Yahoo list. Adele, who I know has been crazy busy, and Novela. I haven't heard from her. Oh Novela! Are you out there? Are you still in?

Hi everyone!

Arwen those look great!

Mine are done except for weaving in the ends and trimming.

Mine are done in a grand (and so far successful) attempt to avoid sewing my sweater together. I finished knitting the sweater weeks ago. It is sitting here right next to me. I take it to work incase I have time to work on it. But it seems I don't have time. I do however have time to do granny squares! (and read, start the pen pal project, play on face book , read here etc)
I think I may be procrastinating a bit with this.

Clover crochet hooks really make a diference for me. Of course i lose them a lot and they are EXPENSIVE. 5-7 for a hook takes a bite out of my budget.

And I need to go get one because I have a project that is going to need a bigger hook than I currently have. WHINE. :)

Squares got put on hold. I have 6 finished with the 7th in progress. So that means only 2 more after that. W00t! Please make sure your name and address are in the Yahoogroup database!

More pink and green squares are GREAT, Liz! I was going to make extra for the raffleghan too, to make it bigger. Thanks for yours also!!

I keep thinking I have my squares all caught up and then I find a mistake and have to fix it. :knit: So the count now is three finished, the fourth with one row to go, and the fifth with two rows to go. Sheesh. *sheepish look*

But the good news is that I only have three rows to go and I can start my sixth square, right?

So I have a question... should I wait until I have them all done to start sending them out, or should I send them out as I finish each one?

sweetcali
03-07-2010, 11:39 PM
Welll.....So I thought I was almost done with the squares for the swapghan then I remeasured. :| Don't ask me how I did it; but I swear they measured 12 x 12, but ummmm I have a couple that are a litttle bit longer then 12 x12. So unless someone doesn't mind one that is a tad longer then I shall be re-knitting them. ugh....

I figured I would send mine all out at once.

As far as the raffleghan I will knit those when I am done with the swapghan.

I have the same issue in that some of mine came out bigger. I have them all done, and thought that once I finish the afghan I am making for Momma's 75th bday later this month, I would take off the extra rows before I send them out.

Trip to wally world to pick up jiffy bags. Sat in the car for 20 mins stuffing the squares into the bags (I got too small a size, I think) and addressing them.

Stop at the post office, bag full of stuffed envelopes, a digital cable box ready to be mailed back to Comcast (of the devil, I tell ya) and my mother's 75th bday afghan (twin bed spread size). Not to worry, darlin! The beauty of knitting and crochet is that they are sooo forgiving--being stitched into an afghan will likely correct any inconsistencies in the various squares.

Jusy fyi when you're making projects for yourself, if a square is really crooked, it can always be blocked, also. You wet it, smooth it to the proper size and shape, and pin it down, then let it dry. Solves all KINDS of problems!

Um, Ami... *stage whisper* that's kinda personal, hon....

*sorry for teasing ya, that was JUST too good to pass by, lol*

I took my squares to the mail center at the grocery store tonight; they'll be picked up and taken to the main post office tomorrow and should arrive to people in a few days.

I'm feeling pretty dork-ly about the whole thing... remember how shocked I was that my squares were not 12" after all, and I got delayed by having to add extra rows to them?

I measured them again before I put them in the envelopes this afternoon.

13 1/2".

Well, at least now I know why I ran out of yarn, eh? Um, I have leftover yarn now.

I am so aggravated with the post office right now! The square I'm sending--TRYING to send!--to Sweetcali keeps coming back marked "postage due" with BIG BOLD BLACK lines marked right through the middle of the Forever stamps!! I'm going to have to go to the post office and ask what's going on; it only needs 68 cents postage and right now, it has $1.76 on it, all marked out and unusable!

Please say a prayer that I can avoid swearing at the person behind the counter when I get there tomorrow--it surely won't be their fault--but I am SO FRUSTRATED! Why did I spend the money I did on Forever stamps if they're unusable? How will I pay my bills now?

If this is the kind of postal service the country's coming to, it's no wonder that people are paying their bills by phone and online! Sheesh!

I have been sitting on my hands in an effort to not post about folks getting down to the wire and hearing nothing as to their progress and time frame of completion.

At the very base level, its simply disrespectful. If you have not finished the squares, why not just say, "Hey - I know this was my grand idea, but I am unable to finish the project." (Yes, Arwen, that is pointed at you because I believe when you take on a leadership role, you have the added responsibility of maintaining communication)

The silence on this thread, while you continue to post daily on others, speaks volumes. Things come up. Life happens. I have the can-see-the-light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel home renovation in progress while I have been battling my own physical health issues and my fulltime run the world job. Cath has not just carpel tunnel and fibro but also had to navigate getting things mailed while depending on public transportation and budgetary issues. Ami, I'm sure, has a very full plate with her life. Linus and K have a full, busy life, and Cali is battling the big C. (If I missed anyone, it was not on purpose, but rather fibro brain fog this morning - I was simply using the things off the top of my head as examples of each of us having 1001 things a minute to do)

I just don't understand how folks can just blow other people off and it is so disappointing and really pisses me off. Communicating with folks is what we do here and to have others hold your feet to the fire for something we all VOLUNTEERED to be a part of, well, it just sucks.

Maybe this is a little harsh, but its not like we had unspoken expectations of one another. We all committed to something and I simply expected folks to live up to it - and if for some reason, couldn't, to have them communicate that they could no longer participate.

It doesn't make you a bad person, but I would rather you just say it ain't happening rather than passive-aggressively say it.

Its not fair to put the rest of us in the position to be the bad guys. Its not fair to Cath who has offered to put together the afghan for the Reunion raffle to be in a holding pattern just waiting to see what/when the remaining squares will arrive.

To that end, I spoke with Cath yesterday via emails and I have completed the two remaining squares she needs to finish the afghan. Since our rinky dink post office is closed until Tuesday because of the holiday, I am shooting to send her 6 additional, but at the very least, she will have the two to finish what we offered up for the raffle. This isn't me tooting my own horn or anything, but rather feeling the need for us to do what we said we would, and taking the initiative to make that happen. I refuse to be one of the "oh, you can't depend on _________ because they don't do what they say they will."

To those of you who sent out your squares, a sincere thank you for sharing part of your energy and self with me. I am honored that you chose to do so and will proudly display our efforts in our home.

Arwen -

I hope you know that I didn't post to be hurtful and that I don't like that the situation came down (for me) that I felt I needed to speak my feelings about it.

I know how easy it is to start a project, especially a crafty one, and for the enthusiasm to wane. Its one of the reasons I usually have a couple different things going at once and also why I read two or three books at a time. Its that immediate gratification thing for me.

Thank you for taking time to respond. You needn't return my square. I made it and sent it in the spirit of which we started this project. Perhaps hanging on to them will give you the "umph" one day to pick up your yarn and start crocheting away.

Best,
Christie

I think that although you might be feeling badly right now, I would MUCH rather you stay in the project and keep my square. If you can find a way to mail me your raffleghan squares this week, I will add them to the raffleghan.

Yanno, sometimes in life we come up against something that is a "Do Not." It doesn't normally make sense, yanno? We start something with great enthusiasm and the best of intentions, but somewhere along the way we get a strong message that we need to stop... then every time we try to finish it, we find ourselves deflected away, either by other things immediately claiming our attention or by our own emotions suddenly making us too tired to cope.

When it's this consistent, I find it to be a big red flag that something is wrong which I haven't consciously acknowledged yet. In my own life, I have finally acknowledged that I have a huge "Do Not" about the psychic line; no matter how hard I tried, I could NOT make myself log in. I dunno why; it doesn't make any sense. I chose to be part of it, I wanted to do it, I said I would be available; this is, after all, what I do for my family and friends all the time..... yet after the first week, every time I logged in I had an anxiety attack or got completely exhausted; pretty soon there was every reason in the world to do other things and ignore the psychic line. (Quite often, the reason was, "but the dogs will bark." OY. Sooo irrational...)

Arwen, I'm wondering if you have a "Do Not" about going to the post office. You mentioned before that you're bad about it... is it more than that, honey? Is it impossible for you to go?

Can someone else mail them for you? Would someone be willing to go and spare you from the anxiety of a Do Not? If I lived near you, sweetheart, I would do it just to help you; maybe someone else will be willing to help you?

A Do Not might not be a full-blown phobia and it's certainly never rational, but there's always a reason for it somewhere... and hey, if we didn't each have our weird little quirks (like mine about the psychic line), we wouldn't be the interesting characters we are today.

Please don't give up on this, oh fellow Interesting Character. The raffleghan will be better for having your squares in it!

Arwen -

I really took Bit's post to heart and if I was harsh in my post because its a "do not" for you, then I apologize.

There is an option thru the US Postal Service called click and ship. If I recall correctly, Ami used this service to ready her packages.

Here is the link for the FAQs:

http://faq.usps.com/eCustomer/iq/usps/request.do?session={869cd6a0-8716-11df-cdcb-000000000000}&event=1&view()=c{1ed5ea30-c628-11dd-6963-000000000000}&objectId=&eksObjectId=&objectType=Case&isJumpEnabled=false&isContentJumpEnabled=false&vendorKey=&objTitle=&versionId=4102&searchProperties=undefined&naturalAdvance=false&allStr=&phraseStr=&anyStr=&noneStr=&keywordStr=&tTitle=&topicFromSub=&topicsORSubUrl=&report(0000)=p{fd8043a0-6973-11dd-e6c4-000000000000}&bcobjectId={e4ae5a10-6973-11dd-e6c4-000000000000}&search=click%20n%20ship&topicAndSubtopic=Customer%20Service$ALL

It looks pretty simple and if you are using any of the flat rate items, you can order packaging materials free of charge and your postal worker will deliver them to your home. Also, I am pretty sure if you use the click and ship feature, they will pick the packages up from your home too.

I agree with Bit in that I don't wish you to give up on this - I just wanted to ensure that the raffleghan was completed as we had promised.

Interesting. I'll have to examine this. It feels true when I read it. In a past version of the current model of Teh Arwen, I suffered from agoraphobia. As in I would not leave my house unless it was to get in the car and go through a drive-through. I might go to the grocery store IF it was after midnight and only the store I knew.

I still have some issues around that. I won't go in a place by myself for the first time. I HAVE to go in with someone. The times I've had to overcome that ... I have dealt with it but the after-effects aren't pretty.

Sometimes, I get that way even if it is some place that I do know.

Hmm.

I'll see if I can enlist my stepson's help.

I'll check out the click and ship as well.

Thank you, bit. I adore you.

Christie

Woooohaaaaaaaaaa wait a minute here. I have sent all of my squares out. I have not received all of my squares. I did send mine out late; however I did keep everyone up to date. So please do put me in the group that did not send them out due to what ever reason. Mine were sent out late due to monetary reasons and because of my cancer I have my good days and my bad days; however they were all sent out.

What I found frustrating with this whole project was an odd size for the square; most clubs I do this with the squares are 10x10. I also found it extremely difficult with which colors to pick from and when I inquired I was told "There is a picture in the gallery."

So I hope what I ended up with and sent out can be used and at least one person enjoys them.

Cali -

I think you misread my post. I wasn't saying that you hadn't sent out your squares - quite the opposite. The reference to you (and myself, and Cath and Ami) was merely an example of that with all we individually deal with in our lives, we managed (albeit I was late) in completing our parts of the deal.

I think if you re-read my post, you will see that. In fact, I made a post in the thread when I received yours, thanking you and saying how lovely it was.

Please don't make the bad guy in this. I don't think that there should be a bad guy in it at all. All I wanted (and still do from the two others who haven't communicated their intent or not we can expect squares) is to just tell us. Either yes we are/will or no. I don't even care for an explanation as I thought I had stated that I just want to know what to expect.

Interesting. I'll have to examine this. It feels true when I read it. In a past version of the current model of Teh Arwen, I suffered from agoraphobia.

I wondered if something more was going on... cuz I know you weren't having trouble with the crocheting itself. Thank you for not giving up, and I hope Stepson will be willing to help.

I adore you too, love.

Woooohaaaaaaaaaa wait a minute here. I have sent all of my squares out.

Sweetheart, you misread--Christie was saying you DID send them out despite having cancer.

And the square I got from you was great! Did you ever get the one I sent you? I had to try three doggoned times to get it to mail; the post office returned it twice, aaaarrgggh.

I haven't heard from Liz in a long time; has anyone talked to her lately?

Missed you in the multiquote! Ooops...
Arwen -

I really took Bit's post to heart and if I was harsh in my post because its a "do not" for you, then I apologize.

You had no way to know, especially since Teh Arwen didn't realize it herself. Truly, if I hadn't JUST had to write to the psychic line and confess my struggles, have them put me on inactive status, I might not have tumbled to it either.
