Could you please clarify if we should also steer clear of posting nudes by our favourite artists like Helmet Newton, Gauguin, Modigliani et al?
Maybe you can make a Tumblr for your favorite photographers and post the link to it. Also,'I think there is a thread for "images of masculinity."
http://www.butchfemmeplanet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1488

What i like about this thread is that it's "us".

Cheers mate. Not quite what I was getting at. I was wondering about the line between art and porn. I'm not calling my pictures 'art' by any stretch but I would suggest that they certainly aren't porn or in poor taste.

I know I've posted Helmut Newton nude images before on the site.

I suspect a couple of the skin pictures in the Pin-ups thread are now going to have to be taken down too as they are possibly somewhat more likely to attract the attentions of none community people looking for skin/tit shots in random searches.

I love this thread too...infact I love all the photographic threads...it's fabulous to show ourselves and be able to put names to faces - and errrrm bodies! :cheesy:

In no way am I trying to be controversial with this post. I do understand why the Admin would prefer not to have skin shots, no matter how 'tasteful' they are.

Perhaps the Art beholds a following of its

Y'really are too, too kind. :o After being immersed alongside non-Mrs.I whilst she did a fine art photography degree I find my pictures pale into rank amateurism when viewing 'real' artists. I do appreciate your words though. Although there is something to be said for 'art' being in the eye of the beholder.

Ok so I'm here at the hospital with a dear friend. Her appearance is that of a heteronormative woman. My appearance is that of a gender non-conforming butch woman. Here are my thoughts for discussion:

Isn't it interesting that her "straight appearance" (she is straight) never is enough to make anyone think that i am straight too? Why do I magically lesbianize whomever I'm walking next to?

When the staff refer to her as my partner, do i say "We are not a couple. Lesbians can have straight friends." Or should I let people practice what it's like to be around people they perceive as gay?

Also: Hospital gowns are non-gendered garments. How is it that she looks so different then I do when I've had to wear them recently? Amazing. She looks good!

I personally am happy that people don't ever seem to assume I am straight. I am a walking stereotype, lol, but it does suit me. I have been out with straight woman friends where people assumed we were a couple and also femme friends as well.

I think the hospital staff is trying to be considerate of a lesbian couple, even though you aren't one. Much better than kicking you out.

But yes, it is interesting...

Why do you think that happens? I don't get it. But some Femmes I've dated really liked being outed by my appearance.

Also, Medical hospital workers have been very nice to me, about my gender stuff and nice to my various girlfriends.
The psych hospital doctors were less friendly.. My Crazy Boxers (http://youtu.be/0WvtkCOd33s)

Well, it's nice to be seen. It's a relief. It's less smothering. It can be really depressing at times to be always seen as something you are not. The having to take the deep breath and correct people can be... Awkward at best and gladiatorial at worst. So it's nice to not have to have that conversation, for once, to be seen. Having a butchdyke accessory is something I have occasionally pondered. They make great purses too, with the whole "trousers that have pockets thing." My exwife was a very fashionable purse. She was like Gok Wan.

That film was hilarious/painful. If she was playing a therapist, she did quite well!

Perhaps it was that they were worn over tights with a blanket as a cape?

That's true. If I'm wearing something girly and I'm with a bloke my age they assume we are partners.
If I was with my exwife they assumed she was my son. That used to crack her the fuck up and have me huff off....

If you were male, they would assume you were straight and that you were her husband or boyfriend. You "look like a lesbian", which tells them you date women. Just like if you were male, this makes you romantically attached to your friend.

People don't get that people who could be attracted to each other could just be friends.

You haven't experienced this before?

I find it very logical.

It's weirder than that. Maybe it's NYC but people are near one another all the time. In my experience a gay man walking near a straight man doesn't generate the same assumptions abour the nature of their relationship. And an out non-butch lesbian doesnt confer lesbian status on the people she's walking near.

It is kind of hot in an old-school way- that I'm seen as a butch predator and a person capable of recruiting to a sinful lifestyle. I like it.

Thanks for watching the video!

i am glad to carry things for a lady- this winter though, everyone had 15 inches of polar fleece padding and pockets all around, so instead of holding cute sparkly clutch purses for Femmes,, I was more of a mobile coat rack.

I'm looking forward to spring, when there is more flesh, animal prints, and more impractical shoes to be appreciated.
