I have always known that Jennifer was the most popular girl's name in the US in 1963 and for many years after.

In college, there were six (6) Jennifers on my hall Freshman year :|.

I have lived with two Jennifers.

anddddddddd.

I am positive that at the reunion, half the people I met were named some variety of Jen.

Is your name Jennifer or something similar and if so, how does it impact your life? Do you have whiplash from always thinking someone is calling your name?

This is the exact reason I shortened my name from Gin to literally just G. There are so many Jens around here that all hang out together that they all use last names, but there are still people that will say "Hey Jen" and a dozen people turn around!

When I go to Smoothie King to get a smoothie, they always right my name on the cup as "Jen" and not "Gin"...even when I annunciate beyone normal vocal skills. Now I just tell them my name is Steve. I get some funny looks, but they don't mispell it any more! :winky:

I was ALMOST a Jennifer but my mom changed her mind late in her pregnancy. I am glad that I ended up with the name I did; I have about 6 or more friends with a variation of the name Jennifer.

When I order soemthing like at Starbux, I tell them my name is Pip. Its useless to say Jen. Everyone in the damm store is always named Jen.

I will walk in to work and my dad will see my cup and say "you got someone else's drink" when it says Jen. (and especially when it says Steve...lol)

i was born in 1970
my eighth grade yearbook had 3 of us in a row

Jennifer Bra*****
Jennifer Bre***
Jennifer Bri****

when i was in middle school and high school i was jenny, then jenni, then JENNIFER, then jeni

in college i was jennifer, then jenny again

now when people ask my preference i say "whatever you don't already have" as in- if you know a Jenny i'll be a jennifer, if you know both i can be jen

i changed so much i figure i have forfeited my right to be picky

interesting trivia- i have never dated another Jennifer

how about ya'll?

ALSO i had a neighbor named Jenny that always called me Kimberly or Tiffany

i felt like she must not consider me qualified for jennyhood

Seeee and I thought Mr. Jenny's name was Jenny too! :)

I have dated 2 Jennifers. I think it was narcissistic and maybe having the same name seemed enough in common at the time.

no Mr. Jenny is just paranoid about having "her business" on the internet. it was like pulling teeth to get her to let me have a picture of us together on my facebook, and she herself has NO facebook OR bfp login

sooooooo i can pretty much blab about her all i want and she'll never know

Ya know...

I think the only Jennifers i know are on here. I don't even remember any in school. But, there are a lot online.

BTW...i absolutely adore that name. It is so very pretty. Always thought so, all of the variations.

Maybe i'll join the club and change my name.

I have always gone by Jennifer, never Jen or Jenny, even when I was little. Everyone I have ever been close with has always called me Jen and I just let them be. I only correct people when they call me Jenny.

In undergrad our group of friends called me by my last name as we had another Jennifer in our group (she was also called by her last name).

Until about 10th grade I was called Jennifer F. or "Jennifer with the red hair" by teachers and peers since at one time we had 8 in our class.

Having this name was annoying while in school, notsomuch anymore.

oh, this made me giggle!!!
I am not a "Jennifer", but I have 2 "Jen's" in my immediate family.
In grade school, there were 2.
In high school there were 4 or 5.

i feel like, for how many of us are out there, Jennifers are underrepresented in the in terms of public figures

i mean there are Jennifers

1. Aniston
2. Beals
3. Connelly
4. Coolidge
5. Finnigan
6. Garner
7. Grey
8. Jason Leigh
9. Jones
10. Lopez
11. Love Hewitt
12. Tilly

and that SEEMS like a lot, but not when you consider moxie had 8 in one class!

do Jennifers get famous under their middle names instead b/c the first is too common?

OR

are we slackers?

OR IS IT A CONSPIRACY :tinfoil:

My name has gained popularity as well and, frankly, I hate that. My name is mine. Hrmph.

I feel completely unpopular now.

What year were you born Apoc? What about you Tawse? Where did you grow up? How can we decifer unless we know that stuff? lol :-)

As an aside, I think that a lot of female's middle names are Lynn (mine included). It goes with lots of first names. But, again, that could be an age/regional thing.

Like I said, I grew up with a lot of Jennifers and I was born in 1970. In Maryland.

I changed my name to Jenny (legally) about ten years ago. People assume that it's short for Jennifer, but it's not (and I hate being referred to as Jen).

Why Jenny? I honestly have no idea. I guess I just liked the way it sounded.

I am not a Jennifer. However all my life I've always been friends with at least once.

Does Genevieve count as a Jennifer?

Thankfully my name is somewhat uncommon - unless you were born in the late 70s and your parents were fans of the Looking Glass, or you were born in the 90s and your parents liked the show Moesha. (Interestingly, Brandy Norwood was also born in the late 70s)

I like Jenny actually. Up until I started working everyone called me Jenny, then I had a boss named Jenny, so I was forced to go with Jennifer and it stuck. My family and friends from childhood call me Jenny. It seems sweeter. :)

There were three of us in my grade named Jennifer. Two of us had the same birthday. I always got bummed out when they did the birthday announcements and I'd get all excited thinking my friends put one in for me, but when they got to the last name it was the other one. SHEESH!

I spell it Jenn these days. There are 8 people with the same first and last name as me at my job. I get emails intended for the one in the legal department all the time. :tease:

I was born in 1966, and I don't think there was another Jennifer/Jenny/Jen in my small elementary school class. When I moved to a bigger town with a larger school, there were a few, but I don't remember ever feeling like there were a TON of us.

When I was little, my parents called me Jenny Lynn, adding in my middle name. I hated that. I was always Jenny, except for the summer when I turned 15, during which I thought "Jennifer" sounded much more grown up. (As an aside, I have a friend, Todd, who I met that summer, who STILL calls me Jennifer. Nobody else does. Ever.) I stayed Jenny until about age 30, at which time, somehow, I became Jen.

Now about half of my friends call me Jen, half call me Jenny. All of my kids' friends call me Momma Jenny.

I love my name, but I never thought it fit me. I wanted to be named Amy. (Or maybe Aimee.)

Jen/ny

Mr. Jenny's mom is almost exclusively Spanish-speaking, and she could never remember my name until Mr. Jenny told her "Genoveva"

now she has no problem remembering my name. It is "Veva."
