I don't know what you model you bought, but there a couple good videos on YouTube that offer details on film loading, focusing and shooting by model.

My father had a couple brownies in his camera collection. Once you get the film loading and unloading down, I think you'll find they are pretty easy to use. You should be able to find your model number and more information here as well:

Mr. Nobody what a find in that Brownie. I have an older 35mm film camera in storage (too far for me to get at right now) but would like to get a digital 35mm. If anyone has any suggestions please...do tell. I have been a bit out of the creative photography loop for a while and would like to dig my heels back :)

My instincts tell me you want to invest in a good tripod and go easy on lighting, with more emphasis on natural, subdued lighting rather than bright sun.

It's getting to be time for me to get an updated DSLR and one that doesn't require an expensive repair (I dropped my Sony on a train this summer, sadly, and impacted the image stabilizer), but I have nothing but praise for my Sony A100 for a couple reasons and think it is a fine starter DSLR. The A100 is a few years old now, so you might look at the Sony A200 and Steve's Reviews, which are exhaustive and well researched:

So I dug out an old FujiFilm 3800 digital camera (my first) that I bought YEARS ago and am heading out...also bringing my new point an shoot (cheap PS) as well. Looking back at the photos I took with the Fuji...it seems to take better pics.

These rapters facinate me, I dont know if since I first discovered them is why they seem to be more prevelant around here or that their original habitat has changed and they have choosen my area to migrate to but I certainly do see them more often in recent times. Even thought the Buzzard/Vulture is a larger bird they are afraid of the ME. They will stay back even if there are more of them. Usually the ME travel in pairs. The day I took this picture there were two of them and 8-10 vultures all standing back until the ME both got their bit then they stepped in and even then only 1 or 2 at a time. I watched them for quite a while and every time the ME wanted back at the carcass the buzzards all backed off.

Awesome!! not seen them with the white neck !! Very cool! Mine was taken in Central Texas. It seems that Texas and Florida and in some areas of Arizona are where the Caracara are found. The ones here in the US are a northern race of the South American species. Sorry derailed the thread with a aviary lession!! I told you these birds fascinate me!!

It was a 70-300 telephoto, Sigma I believe. I'm pretty sure the feathers were whiter because it was a fledgling, which may explain why it wasn't skittish.

thank you everyone... I have had two Theme Ideas for the week... really difficult to choose between the two.... but it boiled down to this one:

"This week is brought to you by the Letter 'E'"

It is more of an interpretive theme... and can be taken literally or allow one to step out of the box and push it and play, either with the subject or a technical aspect that has been 'sticky' for you lately....

Funny story about what I thought was an angry buffalo, I was balancing on a log trying to shoot the buffalo without fence lines, the one in the photo started stomping the ground, pawing, snorting. tail swishing & shaking his head; he dropped down rolled on his back & got up took a couple stpmps in my direction. I thought.. he gonna charge. With only a few strands of barb wire between us..I was to say the least, a little scarred. My head said RUN my heart said SHOOT. I got my shots, backed up to my truck, got in & left giggled all the way home thinking I'd dodged a bullet. I posted the pictures & the story on a photography site & come to find out the Buffalo was just trying to get rid of flies!! hee hee

Let"s see if I remember correctly, the white brick building and the sign are both the penal builiding in tunica missisippi, the house in the water, is at a small settlement along the mississippi river down by clarksdale I think. The old brick building, the building with the long roof, the one with the boat, and the barn are in the country near me somewhere in mississippi lol.

The ones of the adobes and red clay are all around albuquerque, or on old rt 66 in New Mexico. And yep the cars are the Cadillac Ranch. Used to go country cruising with the ex and just took pics when i saw something interesting.

Unfortunately for me and him he was too untrained & too strong for me to handle he knocked me down several times and even broke my wrist. He was not mean just playful. I rescued him from the pound just before his last day. We did find him a forever home. He was found at a bus stop so that is what I named him.

Thanks. I have to prop the food bowl on a dog bed, to help prevent choking and Ruben wouldn't move. I was annoyed and simply placed it on him and he didn't move.

Hundreds of thousands of Geese in the air and on the ground I counted 5 fields of geese and the skies where choked with them. It was an awesome sight I wish I had had a video camera, I just could do the numbers justice with the camera!
