I'm considering these for my sister. They're right up her alley, and I bet someone else on here knows someone who would want something like this. Also a portion of all profits from the Bust Boobtique goes to fight Breast Cancer...so.

I bought for myself, a Betty Crocker 3 dish buffet warmer/server. Its fantastic, so if you have a family memer or friend who likes to entertain, one of these would make the best gift EVER!!!!

I thought this was pretty cool for the MacBook owner. Etsy has a bunch of different designed decals that incorporate the Apple logo on the cover. I love The Giving Tree and they have it in color too. But they have tons of different things.

So I need to buy something for my father. Budget is under 75 dollars, preferably far enough under that that I can buy him some piddly smaller low-ticket items to go in his stocking also.
He is outdoorsy, but already owns every piece of outdoorsy equipment a person could ever want. (By Outdoorsy I mean he hunts, fishes, camps, and drives around the woods on a four-wheeler.) Last year I got him long-underwear and a pair of cargo pants that were lined with fleece. And a bottle of whiskey.
Any suggestions?

Does he have one of those flashlights that you can attach to your head? With the headband? You know what I mean? A lot of people who camp have them. I got some for my nephews just to play outside at night with.
And for the stocking...does he like those handwarmer things?

He'd never use it. There's no flask big enough for the amount of whiskey he takes with him camping. ;)
You know that house that they bought up north? He's been kind of making a "man cave" out of one of the little cottages on the property. He took out the bunk beds and put shelves on the wall and has been displaying all sorts of stuff he thinks is cool out there (stuff that Mom won't let him put in the main house - antique fishing lures, old tins, crap like that). I wonder if there's something I could get him for his man cave?

I think that is a really good idea you have....coming up with something for that. Something to hang on the wall?

Is there a vest or something with some awesome lining or warm/great gloves or is that lame?

Maybe see if you can find an old map of the area (check Ebay). I'm actually considering getting this for my aunt in Halifax as her house if from the early 1900s.

Anyone who has guns can never have enough shotgun shells or bullets. Does he have a gun cleaning kit they come cheap and they make some really nice ones that are more expensive too. I have a case sort of like a small suite case that is cushioned, it has ribs in the foam inside and you can carry 4 rods at the time in it. It's a rod holder, it saves you from trying to carry so many rods and getting the lines tangled up. Does he have cases for his gun or pistols if he has any? Batteries for the camping supplies, those headlights, the newer ones take watch batteries, buy a few of those. If he has a four wheeler is it a 4 stroke or a 2 stroke? Does he need oil, spark plugs, a tool kit that straps to the handle bars a rack to carry game? Find out how much it cost to service the four wheeler and give him a gift certificate to the nearest place that will service it. A 5 gallon gas can for four wheeler gas. If he has a truck get him some ramps to load the four wheeler or tie down straps. Forgot to mention a Lansky. It's a knife sharpener. Any hunter or fisherman needs a Lansky it makes sharpening those knives a breeze. And I mean it puts an edge on them

I always end up giving somebody iTunes gift cards every holiday. If you're the same, check your local Office Depot this morning. iTunes multi-packs (the ones with 3 $10 cards in a pack) are buy two packs get $15 off. So $60 worth of iTunes/Apps for $45 and you can open the pack and give grandkids or nieces and nephews each one of the $10 cards if you've got alot to buy for and need to spread the love.
I think this special is only on until 11am Black Friday though. Thought I'd pass it on.

great idea, thanks for the info! My daughter is asking for an itunes card. What a great gift for teens and people who have iphones!
video games are also on her list and the gift card for xbox live. also, a netbook?? I have no idea why someone wants a mini computer but they are popular this year i guess. They may still be on sale at Target this morning.

I actually use a netbook. Once I finished school, I didn't do any major Office-type work, just surf the web and watch "TV" on it. When I slap-chopped my laptop and had to get something new, The Boy talked me into a netbook. The smaller size, lighter weight, longer battery life, and non-overheating battery all work great for what my computer useage is now.. It fits perfect on my lap while lazin' on the sofa. :)

Did you and your dad ever do any camping, hunting or fishing together? If you have and you have pictures of these times together, either from when you were a wee thing or more recent you could do either a photo collage or scrap book album of the time you two have shared.

What about clothing? At that age they like quadruple in size every 30 minutes so he probably needs a whole new wardrobe at least once a month. (Yeah, I am no fun.)
Is there something that he is in to? (Like a teevee show, or dinosaurs, or elephants, or whatever?) You could get him a costume. (Like if he's into dragons and knights and crap you could get him a knight costume, etc)
It's winter and I am currently all about this type of thing:
http://www.shopanimalhat.com/images/product-images/animal-hats/froggy-animal-hatXL.jpg
If there's an animal that he likes lots I bet you could find a matching hat and glove set. That shit is so damn cute.
I know it's winter, so not season appropriate...but for future reference maybe: When I was a kid my favourite toys were my "bug houses". I'd spend hours catching grasshoppers or butterflies or beetles and putting them in the houses. I found a neat one online (http://www.mastermindtoys.com/Backyard-Safari-Magna-View-Field-Bucket.aspx) that has a magnified lid so they can see the bug better.
This "playground" for pill bugs (http://brightworld.com/Bugs/Roly_Poly_Playground_1502.html) is freaking cool.

any outdoors person should have a small survival pack. You can get a small case or hinged wooden box and engrave something special. Inside put water and wind proof matches, few candles, poncho, compass, pocket chain-saw, some strong nylon rope, multi-tool knife, maybe some light tackle. I use to keep a kit on my van all the time. It should be something he can easily grab, maybe even with a shoulder strap.
I think everyone could use an emergency kit.
you might also check out the cool small solar chargers for radios and cell phones

Skullcandy Earbuds (http://www.amazon.com/Skullcandy-Frank-Earbuds-S2INCZ-049-Black/dp/B003H4ZWYA/ref=wl_it_dp_o_npd?ie=UTF8&coliid=I1TMCNYI7A9KHA&colid=O8Z1UZBII8M2)
I have the Paul Frank Monkey ones, but there are different styles as well.

Good idea for the kid. Who doesn't need new ear buds from time to time?

If you have children or young teens to buy for, Klutz is AMAZING (http://www.klutz.com/) (I admit that I've bought some of their kits for myself as an adult).
Their kits include really easy to follow craft project instructions as well as enough materials to get started.

Thank you!
I ordered my nephew the solar car and the building castle cards! They will easily fit inside his suitcase, but will help fill his time while at Grandmom's (I also ordered a set of 300 extra cards to ensure it. heh).
Look at all the Giftmas joy your thread is spreading!

My brother and his wife are having Christmas at their house this year. My brother is currently unemployed yet this is who he is as a person...giving. Since I can't be there, I am sending the gift of food. A ham and fixings to help cut the cost of having everyone over (roughly 10 people).
As for everyone else, something small, from a local business (their local) such as a gift certificate. I am not one for gifting anything more than my time during the holidays but this year, with local businesses struggling and my desire to protest business that care nothing about their employees or local residents, I will.
Cheers!

My mother is nuts about candles so I picked up a couple for her.
(The Orange Ginger one is amazing, just saying.)

Hey, folks. I just picked my sister up one of these:
http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Electric-12V-Auto-Blanket/1657678/product.html
(Sorry, I don't know how to do the picture in the thread thing).
My whole life my sister was always cold in the car. Ok, so she lives in CA, now...they do travel to colder climates!
What I like about this one is that it has an auto turn off feature after 30-45 minutes. Although it is not supposed to get too warm, I am thinking that it is a good safety feature if the kids are using it in the back seat and fall asleep with it on.
Heck, maybe this is an idea for you, Bete. Perhaps your Dad has some sort of battery system in his man cave he could plug this into.
Free shipping and for some reason got 10% off, too.

His man cave has a wood stove. :)
I actually got him The Encyclopedia of Antique Lures, since he collects them.

the Zipfy Mini Luge (http://zipfy.com/)
This thing looks COOL, made the WSJ Top 12 toys of 2012 list, and had one review that said "Where the average plastic saucer lumbers down a city-park hillsides like a minibus, [Zipfy] handles more like a Porsche...”
It also holds people up to 250 pounds, so adults can (and do, I saw the videos on youtube!) use it too.
If there was a good hill within reasonable distance of me (SW Ontario is pretty flat) I'd be all over this.

These remind me of being in college and stealing the trays from the dining hall to go whipping down the hills. Winter session was the best....5 weeks with only one class... lots of time to play... :snowballfight:
