One million moms tried to get ellen fired ...posh lets show our support.

If you have facebook like her page and share, please.

This is exciting for me because years ago due to JC Penny's anti gay staffing bs I gave up my credit card with them and have not shopped them since. It would be cool to shop with them again.

They're still there - and while they still can't compete with the Ellen page, they've gained about 500 or so "likes" since yesterday.

Well then why are we not sending e-mail to Facebook requesting they remove this hate group from the site?:eyebat: *my spidey senses are tingling*

I am just not finding it and when I click it just goes to my facebook page. I wonder if it's blocked in Canada but not the US?

That's so strange - do things like that get blocked in Canada often?

It depends on the situation. Our freedom of speech laws are almost identical. The main difference is that we do not allow anything that promotes the harming of or taking away the rights of any other person or group. You're allowed to say you don't like gay people - but you aren't allowed to do anything that would impact the rights and freedoms of gay people. For example -the Westboro Baptist Church is considered a hate group and is not allowed to enter Canada. Every time they try they get turned away at the border.

Since gay marriage is legal and gay rights are now assured under our charter then yes - a site like that would be considered a hate group. Facebook is American so I guess they just block it here and you can see it there.

If the onemillionmoms website had originated in Canada we would be able to get it shut down.

I don't think I agree with groups like this being blocked. The best way to guard from attacks is to know what they are up to next and they make it public. What a completely different world these 43 thousand some odd moms must be living in. Like the post on the kid from Modern Family using bad language. It's interesting that they watch that show considering there are two gay guys in it but they didn't mention anything about that. I'm sure they may have previously though. I'm fascinated by this. I can't understand how someone could be so brainwashed.

Yeah - I'm a huge believer in and supporter of free speech. Unless someone is inciting violence, I feel that everyone should have their say. No matter how fucked up I think their opinion is, as long as they are not trying to get people to hurt/kill me, they should have the right to express it.

That being said - I love the spirit behind Canada not allowing the WBC into their country or sites like this on their internet .... I just hate the idea of the government deciding what is and is not offensive enough for me to see/hear/experience ... that's a slippery slope.

I am not able to access their Facebook page either, however I have no problem at all accessing them on twitter, where they have a tweet saying "Majority of our supporters are not on Facebook so if we make changes to our page or if Facebook decides to do away... " , with a link to their website. (Which I can also access, and which is worth a look if you have a strong stomach.)

A quick google search of "one million moms Facebook page blocked in Canada" took me to a thread at the data lounge with several posts from US residents saying they are not able to access the Facebook page either, and assuming it has been taken down.

And right after posting, I found this:

From shewired:
"DeGeneres doesn't often use her wildly popular talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres show, as a platform to discuss political topics, but Wednesday she weighed in on One Million Moms’ threatened boycott and how JCPenney has vowed to stand by its decision and to keep her. One Million Moms had created a Facebook page aimed at intimidating JCPenney, but DeGeneres pointed out on her show that many of the Facebook comments were in defense of her and the retailer. One Million Moms’ Facebook page has since been removed."
