Australian Gay Marriage debate:
'GetUp and the Australian Marriage Equality have planned a flower blitz to highlight their ongoing campaign to legalise gay marriage.
Prime Minister Julia Gillard and opposition leader Tony Abbott will receive the biggest bouquets - 500 red roses each.
The stunts comes a day after two separate bills to legalise same-sex marriage were introduced in federal parliament, first by Australian Greens lower house MP Adam Bandt and independent Andrew Wilkie, and then by Labor's Stephen Jones.'

"Szubanski said any public perception that things were fine for gay people now was misguided. "There's a kind of velvet oppression going on. Younger people are killing themselves. It's not fine. This is a serious issue."

"Society would be much better advised, she said, to "look at the genetic predisposition for prejudice and intolerance, find a pill that will cure that, [and] put it in the water, problem solved".

If people could take these two points away with them when they read this story, then the world will be a FAR better place to live in!
