No more having to wait at the post office for me, we finally got new mail boxes at home.
However, I dare say that it's an "Crumbs in the butter" type thing for me when my mom goes 'silent' --- which is often a sign that something has gone wrong in her world and that she'll be calling, most likely ... today.
In other news .... :jester:
It nearly always irks me when the bus or train is late or when you just get off the train to catch the bus? The bus rolls by as if the driver doesn't see you waiting for them to stop and pick you up. Now THAT ticks me off, every single time.

Someone just ahead of me buying the last of any given item..........
I did that Valentine's Day. There's a bakery here that's only open for half the day 6 days a week and they are verrrry popular. DC loves their Boston Cream donuts, so I went to pick Him up a couple and after I'd been in line about 30 minutes, I hear this from the back of the house, "No more Bostons! The injector's broke!". I crane my head to see if they had any more on the tray and they are all out. Just when I'm contemplating choosing something else or walking out, I see the éclairs. It's a giant Boston Cream, basically. There are 3 left. The woman in front of me takes one. I took the last 2.
Do I feel bad about it? Not a bit. I do feel annoyed that the bakery didn't think ahead and make more donuts than usual. The day before was Fat Tuesday and they ran out of inventory then too. Tsk, tsk....

Parents who don't control their children and let them treat a dining room in a restaurant like a playground!
Taking children to a nicer dining area is always a "teachable moment" IMHO.
You can teach them that running around in a MacDonald's is fine, but here we sit and are respectful of other diners who may not appreciate children running around and using their outside voice indoors!

Has those of us who need meds that are controlled substances afraid that our docs catch the bug. I will be having surgery sometime soon and worried that the surgeon won't give adequate pain meds.
Maybe they could start focusing on what the government is doing to people at the borders and internally. But no, that makes too much sense!

1) People who let babies play with keys who put them in mouths. Keys or other items given to kids fall on the floor then get picked back up and returned to the kid. UCK!
2) The assumption that everyone wants to interact with their baby. I think babies are germy and gross...sorry.
3) Cash currency. Handling cash really bothers me. I use debit as much as possible. Yeah, the pin pad is dirty, but one can limit contact to one finger then hand sanitizer.
Why are we still using cash currency? It's been around since at least ancient Roman times. Isn't it time we used a hands free crypto-currency?!

Cash is definitely germy and most bills have cocaine residue (http://www.nydailynews.com/news/money/90-u-s-money-cocaine-study-article-1.401382) on them but I doubt that cash will ever fully go away. There's too many people off the grid or leery of Big Brother for that to happen plus it's better to have cash than plastic for those with budgeting issues.

Maybe folks who wish to be off grid or that leery of Big Brother might think things through when making changes. Cash can have a easier trail to follow than carefully dealt with crypto-currency.
Which brings forth another pet peeve...people failing to plan ahead.
Lying is on top of the peeve list, though. Not accusing anyone here of that, just watched news stories about our beloved Commander in Cheese.

Sty, style: dirty houses, period.
I don't mind a little clutter. A little.
I can't help it, I always look at my own houses, now apartment, through my mother's eyes.
That woman could spot a speck of dirt at 40 feet away. She would always be compelled to point it out.
My heart would always sink.
I never comment on someone else's dirty house. To me, that is rude and being a bad guest.
However, I am totally freaked out to eat their food and I see every speck of dirt on their glasses and silverware.

YES and this one guy Mark DeRosa he even demonstrates how a play or player should be doing things!
Nine times out of 10 the guy has either a baseball, baseball bat, or some kind of mitt! Yesterday he was intent on showing how Oakland A's Khris Davis has achieved such high stats by his "stepping into the bucket" stance at home-plate! :baseball:
Oh and to add insult to injury, he's forever stating how the Oakland A's are in pendant race..WELL of course they are you nit wit aren't they all, well OK maybe not the NY Mets, but that's a whole other kettle of fish for another time!

I know we have covered this before, but each day it just baffles me.
I am at my job a month now. I work with some very intelligent and kind people. They are so helpful... seriously they are a real good team to be a part of.
Our office is a very nice well kept building. We have nice windows and plants and other aesthetically pleasing things to make a nice space. The owners seem to care about that.
Then there's the kitchen. You open the fridge. What you see grosses you out. I had to wipe down a shelf before i put my lunch bag in it. I watch people come and go and use this fridge. I don’t get how they can stand it.
I threw out some jam that has been fermenting for about 4 years.
I brought cleaning stuff and cleaned it the first week i was there as best I could. . It was pretty gross as it had to be emptied and hosed out i believe, the freezer is insane and since I get ice from it, i prefer it to be less repulsive. I cleaned it best i could as it is full of food and I am sure years beyond their time.
Someone saw me cleaning it and I guess told the owner. I am sure they have no idea. Last Friday two people emptied it and steam cleaned the fridge part. A memo went out with the usual *your mother doesn’t work here, clean up after yourself*
I went in it today to get ice, and the freezer wasn’t touched.
Pet Peeve... why do it half way??? How could you not clean the freezer?
And i cannot even tell you about the toaster oven or microwaves!
I am just amazed at this..

 As a store owner this is one of our pet peeves also. We may or may not stop the transaction at our registers when a customer:phonegab:, especially when it is a profanity laced conversation. Just our way of teaching some basic etiquette to those self important customers who stop in. We only have to do it once or twice before customers learn to make their purchases phone less.

My pet peeve is the opposite...I cannot tell you the number of times I have gone through the checkout, and the only thing said to me by the cashier is the total price of my order!
I always say hello, but they stare off into space while they robotically scan my food/items, or talk to the bagger about their plans for the weekend, or..... if it was not for your customers, you would have no reason to be at the registers, and if it was not for your customers you would not have a business.
So, if the person PAYING your salary needs to use their phone.....

I see your point. And agree. Unless it’s important. There are calls I will not ignore or stop because I’m at the register. Hell lately I have found myself walking out of work to take doctors calls not even caring because of the importance. Thankfully they understand. But yes general calls can wait.
I also agree with mstinkerbelly.......
Lol I have experienced that as well. It’s fine with me though as I’m not much for “small talk” however a little common courtesy wouldn’t kill them.

I feel that it's rude to not acknowledge that there's a human being in front of you. That applies to both sides of the argument. I can't stand people who don't talk to you when you are in their line and I can't stand when customers bare their giant egos and think everyone in the world wants to hear what they have to say. Trust me; we don't.
Same thing for people who drive around with their radios booming or their phones running through the car loud enough for bystanders to hear every word. I don't care that much about your life. Sad for you, but true.

I went to the nail salon yesterday and thought of this whole thing about not acknowledging people. In this case not only ignoring but adding plain rudeness on top of it.
I went to 3 places until I found one who could take me immediately and I walked in all cheerful and asked about a quick manicure.
A lady said she could take me. She said *Gel?* i said *no, just file and polish*
She sits me down and proceeds to get the gel nails set up for me. I said *no, file and polish* She said *why don’t you want gel?* i said *because I don’t like gel, can you please just file and polish*
Boy did that set her off! She then gets pissy, and starts speaking loudly in vietnamese to her coworkers. I should have walked out but I really wanted my nails done (Daddi comes home today!)
She pissed me off but i was determined to turn this around, so I complimented her up and down while she did my nails. *Oh i like that shirt* *oh you are good at this* She was not having it. It was like I wasn’t even there. She was that pissed over gel nails. Her hand massage was kinda funny.. she was so irritated ! I said *not necessary*.. she replied with *go wash hands*....
So she did finish up and while waiting for my nails to dry she sat with her arms folded. Well I made sure the *drying *part took a LONG time and finally she says *You pay now*. I said sure.. and gave her my debit card.
She said *No cash?* ... I said no cash. That irritated her!
She goes to the register and yells across the salon *You want to tip?* .... I said *yes of course!* ..I gave her a nice tip. THAT put a smile on her face when she handed me back my card.
On the way out I thanked her and told her in front of everyone that I am sorry she is having a bad day, and hope it gets better.
I don’t even think she thanked me.
She didn’t ruin my day, my nails look great and hopefully she did have a better disposition for her other clients.

Soooo, here's the test. When you turn the radio up, are you alone on a long and winding country road or are you forcing your music on the nonconsensual ears of others? Not that nature isn't full of nonconsensual ears but they won't complain about it or whine about it to other nature creatures or Instagram it like humans do.
Another way to look at it is if someone were next to you and blasting a genre of music that you don't care for, be it opera or death metal or elevator music or whatever, how would that make you feel? Or are you one of those people that would have music wars at a stop light? One goes higher, then the other and so on and so forth.
I have songs like that too but I turn it down at stop signs and lights, if someone else is near me with their windows down, etc. Maybe I'm too nice. *shrug* I do try to be considerate unless I'm out of my mind angry and then screw everyone with a pineapple. Twice.

I am definitely a country back road type butch. I live in a small town so traffic isn't really an issue. We have 4 traffic lights and 1 could really be a stop sign.
Of course, I try to be courtesy for the most part but I can't say I have never offended someone with my loud music of choice.
As far as other people's music, regardless of the type, I am not usually offended. Red lights don't last forever.
Put me on a back road and give me a good song and all bets are off.

I actually thought of this discussion yesterday as I drove down the road, window partially down and radio on a moderate level. lol
Back roads demand one of two things: music turned up or turned off to enjoy the sounds of nature. Well done!
I'm personally less annoyed with those driving versus those parked or at a stop light, just hollering or boomin' or thumpin' away. I've, literally, heard a complete conversation with the driver and their sister-in-law at a long light once. Through the vehicle and rolled up windows. I am Team Sis-in-Law, btw. I have a co-worker (within earshot) who can’t stop talking about Christmas, if she isn’t talking about it, she is humming Christmas songs. She does make sure we can all hear.
I love her enthusiasm and perky personality but I am struggling with myself as I kind of want to rip her throat out.
Same coworker: the constant countdown to Christmas.

the folks in the room next to me in the hotel decided to stay up and cut up until all hours. They were in their room, and in the hall. Grown adults! I was wide awake so I didn’t really care but when I finally felt sleepy they kept waking me.
I called the front desk at 2:30 am to complain, It was handled promptly.
Are people that oblivious to the fact there there are other people trying to sleep? Do they realize it and just not care?

After working hospitality for years, I can say with absolute certainty that they didn't give a flying sh*t about anyone else. They were consumed with their activities and whatnot and the rest of the world doesn't exist. These types of guests were some of my least favorite.

Religion in my house and forced in my face. I am atheist but I give a wide birth for those that believe in gods.
However, in my house I should not be forced to have religion shoved in my face. Yesterday my beloved cousin insisted on a prayer before dinner in my house. She said it even though I protested. This is so wrong to me. We all need to be respectful of each other's beliefs.

There used to be a time when disasters and repulsive images weren’t shown on television commercials. Showing car accidents, bugs crawling on your floor (or even worse—your skin), and old people saying ‘help me’ just weren’t shown. I’m still not desensitized to this shit. And I’ll admit that some of it is well done and amusing (thinking of Mr. Mayhem in the Allstate commercials), but on the most part they are triggers for me.
I don’t think this trend is going to last. At least I hope it doesn’t.

I actually just realized it this past week but here goes. When there is more than 1 roll of toilet paper I always use the forward most roll first.
I noticed this at home because my magizine rack in the bathroom holds 2 rolls. I pulled tissue off of the front roll and tissue also started rolling off of the other roll. I thought now who the hell started that roll before this one was empty. ROFLMAO! Is that a crazy quirk or what!

A dirty kitchen counter but more specifically a dirty cutting board....
It could be anything such as tons of crumbs from cutting a crusty bread, dirty cutlery that has been used and left on the cutting board with food still on it, empty or half full cups placed on top of the cutting board, food spills or drips such as jam or honey etc. or just food in general such as pickles, cheese etc.
Whenever I have friends come over this always happens...It's quite annoying. :|
How about... a pet peeve that caused you to stop dating someone and/or not continue a relationship with someone … a relationship of whatever kind. Yes, I'll go first... :p
Long long ago... in a city far far away... I stopped going out with this gal because I noticed that when she drove in the #1 lane... the passing lane... and a car came up behind her... that clearly wanting to pass... she would not move to the right to let them pass. After about the third time, I .. gently... mentioned that I think the person behind us wanted to go faster. Her response was along the lines of... I'm going the speed limit, they can go around. To me... that seemed kinda petty and discourteous. I was... :byebye: Bye bye!

Pet peeves, lord where to start...
charley
02-28-2019, 09:05 AM
I have no real pet peeves... hmmm...
trying to think of one... oh, got one...
My favourite Japanese weekly goto-resto for a nice feast upped its price a few months ago on all its menu items (actually didn't really bother me !), but...
The last two time I went there, the tuna sashimi was so anemic looking, it didn't even look like tuna; so I mentioned it, and the sushi chef came over to my table, and said: "yes!!, it's tuna!!"...
I smiled, nodded, and said ty, and ate my two pieces, and everything else in my deluxe bento box, and left... almost perfect!!
They sneaked in a cheaper cut of tuna - bah!
So, have been researching online for a replacement resto, and I will be trying out a new resto today :) Now, I have a list of restos, so I guess that is my only pet peeve, because I will have to go out and try them out, so as to settle on one; all that effort, and I have no idea about a truly good replacement.
As you can see, I am so spoiled that the slightest deviation in my lovely paradisaical routine is vaguely a "pet peeve", since I expect my feast to be perfect!
Rereading the above, I realize the extent to which there are people starving in the world, and there I am having such silly expectations.

I agree re: men's cleanliness but I actually had an opposite peeve with this Manager years back. All management was expected to arrive early in order to greet associates when they came into work. This bozo would come in every morning and greet all the male Supervisors with a handshake but all the female Supervisors got was good morning. Me... being me... :p ... 'round about the third week, I stuck my hand out hand as I greeted him. I know he was a little embarrassed at first but within a week ... he was shaking the hands of all of his Supervisors.
Side note... that was in Calif and the bozo was from Texas. This incident, his behavior, made me think (again) just how much the South must suck. Cut to today... years later... guess where yours truly now lives?! God's got one hell of a sense of humor! lol

So…. I know today is a national holiday where people celebrate being thankful and give thanks for whatever they feel they are grateful for… but, come on, stop pretending you’re thankful or grateful.
I’m not giving thanks for people who voted for a fascist pig, who has a massive problem with being friends with dictators and others who want to blow up the world because they just can’t get over themselves or quit lying about x, y or z.
Just wait until all the things you’ve gotten use to become astronomically unaffordable: food, clothes, getting medical help, your medications, keeping the power or water bill paid, or having enough money to keep yourself from starving to death or keeping your home (whether it’s an apartment or a cabin in the woods or the car that you live in, etc).
Another pet peeve is the level of stupidity exhibited by people who voted in the presidential election this month: I blame that on Republicans because it was L. Bush who came up with the “no child left behind” national education measure which basically made sure a majority of people can't think for themselves or make good critical decisions.
It’s too late to take it all back or do it all differently. Some people are stupid enough to believe it will only be four horrible years of a megalomaniac ruling America. There’s plenty of historical proof that can’t be erased from common knowledge. Some dictators, once they get control and power over people, never step down until they are dead. Just check with people who can’t leave China or North Korea or Georgia (Orban) or once upon a time ago it was Franco (massively horrible person who nearly ruined Spain— he ruled Spain from 1939 until he died in 1975).
In just a few weeks, “pet peeves” will become obsolete as a common idiom.
“Be careful what you wish for,” and “buyers remorse” will assume newer meaning for people who *might* (or should) massively regret what they’ve done to our country.
Never in my life did I ever think people could be duped into believing the ton of crap and lies they believe to be the truth. Never. My bad for thinking otherwise. (w)(w)(w)
