Did you make a bracket?

How are you doing so far?

What teams did you pick for your Sweet 16?

What two teams do you think will be playing for the National Championship?

Do you even follow Basketball or care?

Let's discuss the madness here.

Why you gotta keep rubbing it in that my bracket has been busted already and that you are doing well?! ;)

My Final Four is (two of my Sweet 16 are gone already so I am posting this):

Kentucky (I would have been shunned if I hadn't put them in there)
Michigan State
Gonzaga
Kansas

with Kentucky and Kansas in the final game. Kansas winning it all.

I lost my $10 in the pool a few hours ago. :|

Hahaha, I haven't even posted how I am doing, which is better than you, but not great.

Do the good people of Kentucky know you are betting against them in the final game?

I knew you were doing better than me.

And Hell no they don't know. I'm already an outsider here, I don't want people to point and stare without hearing me talk. The only people that know are like 3 people in the office and they all gave me an evil look.

Perhaps someone needs to let them know. :evilook:

I'm sure my luck will run out soon.

I Was doing really well until I went to bed last night.

I checked my bracket earlier today and things had changed somewhat.

I just had a moment to check again and perhaps now I am doing as well as Moxie :)

I am at 50%, grrrrrrrr.

i didn't do a mens bracket. but i did a womens, and i didn't do well. i won't say how bad i did, ... i'll just leave that to the whatevers.

men, kentucky vs kansas tonight. i'm going with kentucky. i have to. i am a sec fan.

women, baylor vs notre dame tuesday night. if i liked notre dame, i'd sure go with them, ... but i don't, so i can't. so baylor it is. the coach for baylor, kim mulkey, is suffering from bells palsy. mulkey just found out she has this disease about a week ago. i hope she gets to enjoy the night, win or lose. the medications and adjusting to the disease, ... i'm sure she's not quite herself. the refs have really taken over, fouls all over the place and not calling. or calling little rinky dink fouls. they don't seem to have a balance. good luck to the players, hope no one gets hurt.

go lady vols! lol

As for the women....go Baylor Bears! I would love to see the abig 12 take the mens and womens championships!

ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK, GO KU!!!!

I don't follow the men at all.....college or pro....I support women's sports only. More women need to support women athletics. The men's basketball game is boring......run up and down the court dunking the ball........blech

So Baylor can make history tomorrow night.....no men or women team has ever gone 40-0 to win the national championship. Baylor is 39-0 right now.....so GO BEARS..............make history several ways!!! Griner is awesome and has grown huge amounts since she was a freshman and we get her one more year!!!

Kim's bell's palsy is not that bad.....she said she is on steroids and antivirals for a short period of time...........she said it's aggravating and that's about all...

ESPN has launched a website for only women's sports. It's awesome and covers ALL women's sports.

www.espnW.com

edited to add: I thought the refs were consistent and they let them play....I've seen far worse and particularly favorable to UCONN but that did not happen....

I am rooting for Baylor in the women's tournament.

Men, Kentucky.

I got 57% so far in my bracket. Not much to brag about.

I have watched the entire Women's NCAA tournament, I don't follow the Men's. I just moved to Tennessee recently, but I am already a rabid Lady Vols fan- there is such a great tradition here with Pat Summit and all the great players who have played here. Knoxville is also nuts about the Lady Vols and the support here is awesome. They lost in the final 8.

My team growing up was Stanford. They lost to Baylor. Neither Notre Dame or Baylor is my team. I will probably root for Notre Dame just because they are the underdog, but Baylor really is an awesome team and none of their starters are seniors.

i really felt like stanford could pull the upset. and they could have. just not against baylor lol. stanford did a great job. open shots missed, ... nervous, or not quite set, ... i don't know. but they never made a run, never pulled away to allow adjustments. the reason for that was baylors defense. stanford did fine on defense, but baylor did better.

notre dame is a shooting team, offense! we see all these teams that baylor has beat, and say, "if they could have just made their open shots!" there's a reason for that, baylor defense, ... and intimidation. notre dame may score a little better than stanford, but they won't play the defense stanford did. so the score goes up on the baylor side also. notre dame will have to stay out of foul trouble, i'm not so sure they can. i think the key to beating baylor is backdoor cuts and 3 pointers. but in order to do that, notre dame has to overcome baylors defense. so it's like the old saying goes, defense wins championships. if baylor holds up their defense, it's a blow out.

bulldog, good to see another lady vol fan. i am a diehard summitt fan. i only got to go to knoxville once this season. i wish for a lot more.

Baylor did not play well against Stanford. Stanford should be glad Baylor had a bad day or Baylor would have beat them by 20-30 points. But I am not a Stanford fan and think Tara Van Dever (and her entire staff) should be fired. She cannot produce a national champion with teams that should have been national champions. In the pre-game interviews both Tara and her players had no enthusiasm and they did not seem to want to win and it showed with their play on the court.

Tonite will be interesting. ND is quick but with Griner taking up the paint it will be tough for them to win. If you have never seen Griner play in person, you really don't understand how big and intimidating she is. I have seen her play (in person) in 6-7 games starting back when she was a freshman. She has grown so much in her game........... she is amazing to watch. The other thing about Baylor is they have a team. Griner is not the only star on that team and she has become an excellent passer and free throw shooter. I'm also glad she has said she will stay at Baylor for her senior year and get her college degree.....smart young woman.

I agree Baylor was not playing to their full talent capacity as we have seen them play this year when they played Stanford. But, Stanford had a good defense and certainly tried to handle Griner pulling her out of the paint often.

Tonight, i'm rooting for Baylor, sorry Bully. Since the orange and white isn't around, of course. Baylor's team is not just Griner, i agree totally. That Sims is something else and if she is on "game" tonight, it will be a great. They haven't lost a game this year, they deserve the title.

Will be interesting to see what ND has in store for strategic defense. But, i believe Baylor will come out with the trophy.

That's my thoughts...

Over and Out.

It's no secret I'm a die hard notre dame fan through and through however they are not going to be able to beat baylor at all. I find it hard to believe Brittany only averages 5 rebounds a game . Heck she has 5 in the first half already . I'm proud the Irish boys and girls came this far though . If Irish girls don't start sinking their 3s they don't have a hail Mary left .. :( go Irish and Congrats for second place .

I support both men's and women's sports on the college level....I enjoy both. The women's teams around here get no press, so it is hard to keep up with them like I would like to. I dated a girl that played basketball at KU back in my early 20's...that is when I really became a huge KU fan.

I love all teams from the Big XII and am really excited that they have become so dominant in women's basketball!

Griner averages either 8 or 9 rebounds per game in the regular season. She had 5 tonite and I think 4 of them were in the 1st half. She did have a double double tonite.

Baylor went to sleep the last 5 minutes of the 1st half. Kim must have given them a royal ass chewing .............give the big girl the ball every possession and you will win.....it's a no brainer, especially since Griner has a great eye and will pass for the better shot. They came out and played a damn good 2nd half.

ND was sluggish and cold the 2nd half. They did not seem to want the win. Novosel just could not get a basket to drop and that really hurt them.

Go Bears!!!!! AND this team will be back next year....no one is graduating....I understand that Kim has recruited a group of incoming freshman that are going to be as good as this bunch. Baylor is going to dominate Div I women's basketball for several years.....

edited to add: I think Sims proved she is the best point guard, not Skylar Diggins.

Unfortunately because of where I am at the moment, I did not get to watch the game. I did follow the ESPN updates, but of course that is not the same.

Baylor looked like a champ all season long and I believe they will be a tough team to beat next year as well.

Yep. I couldn't believe when i found out Griner is a Jr. and Sims is just a sophomore. I wish Baylor had open stock options...i'd take some out for the next couple of years.

Yeah...they deserved to win and i have a feeling next year won't be any different.

espn has a poll, ...

with baylor returning all five starters, what type of chance do you think the lady bears have of going undefeated next season?

good chance
small chance
no chance

so far ...

80% good chance
20% small chance
0% no chance

and, there's a good chance it will be baylor and notre dame in the final next year.

I know, with those returning players plus the ones they have recruited it seems all but certain they will be back for more.

i'm not so sure about notre dame making it back to the final either. but no one stands out for me, a challenger for baylor. maybe maryland or duke. now when i say challenger, i just mean a team to fill the spot lol. if the lady vols make it to the championship game next year, i will be beside myself. i mean it. literally LOL.

princessbelle, i have those lady vol pom poms too. i don't know about you, but when i shake'em, i just get high fives lol. not that that is bad. off topic, the games are lovlied all up with lesbians lol. there should be a singles meeting before every game.

I know right? We will be watching the games and i'll say...."Look, i think she is a lesbian don't you?" Bully will be like "God, niki, i don't know, watch the game."

It takes me back to remembering how lucky i was growing up and having a softball field/basketball center within walking distance of my house. My first twinges of "my oh my" was blossomed there. I did learn to be a pretty good first baseman along the way. Oh and not a bad forward either. LOL.

i know what you mean. i was introduced to a lot of lesbians via travel teams, softball. learned a lot lol.

surely in the next month, pat summitt will tell whether she is coming back or not. i'm bracing myself. even though i know it's coming, now or a little later, ... i get emotional about it. whatever is decided, i'm ok with it. she/they know best.

That's cute about your niece.

Yeah about Pat....i haven't been an avid Lady Vols fan till Bully moved here but i have seen a few games over the years. Even though i knew what was going on with her now, and even though i knew that Holly had stepped up to the plate, it hurt my feelers to see Pat sitting on the side lines for 98% of the games.

We usually get seats directly across from Pat and the team and one thing that i did notice though is that she touches her face a lot. This can be one of the side affect of some of the Alzheimer meds. So, i'm hoping she may be adjusting to the medications and maybe she will come back next year. One thing for sure and i know Bully brought this up. The amount of people here that are Lady Vols fans is so heartwarming. The stands are always close to full and sooooo many shirts with the "We back Pat" words on them. I love this town.

*keeps fingers crossed that she is back a few more years. It just won't be the same without her at least by the team. :(

I'm not sure Coach Summit will be back. Her very long time assistant head coach Holly Warlick certainly did 99% of the coaching during this year. She is the heir apparent and deserves the title Head Coach. But hell who knows what Pat will do.....sorta retired worked ok for them this year............however TN needs to move forward under Coach Warlick. Their recruiting abilities will be greatly compromised if Pat does not step down.

I graduated high school in1970 in New Mexico. The only competitive sport for girls was gymnastics in NM. Texas has always been big on women's basketball even back when we played with 3 players at each end of the court....3 offensive players and 3 defensive players who could not cross the mid court line, plus there was a limit on the number of times you could bounce (dribble) the ball before you had to shoot or pass.....truth....honest I'm not kidding.

I told my great niece about this back when she was about 10 (she is 18 and graduating high school this year and a jock. She did not believe me....we had to get her Nana (my baby sister) to tell her it was the truth. She could not figure it out....WHO made those stupid rules was her repeated question.

uhhhh.......what was my point for the last 2 paragraphs.............ohhhhh yea..............women's sports has come a very long way and ONLY because of Title IX.

Pat Summit has stepped down as head coach of the Tennessee Lady Vols after 38 years. She is now Head Coach Emeritus. She will still be involved with the team and the UT athletics department as a mentor and spokesperson. Holly Warlick, assistant under Pat for 27 years, is now Head Coach- and rightfully so.

I am incredibly sad and wish Pat all the very best.

To see how womens sports have progressed since I was a young kid is truly amazing. Pat had a major impact and leading role in that, along with Title IX and other things. Beyond all her victories and success as a coach she also has touched so many lives. Every single one of her players graduated with a degree from the University of Tennessee.

Here is a video with two former great Lady Vol players - Chamique Holsclaw and Carla McGee- giving their thoughts on Pat and what she means to the Lady Vol players.

We all pretty much knew it was coming...it hurts.

One thing i said to Bully after listening to a bunch of her team members from coaches to players, it stands out to me how supportive she has been/is to everyone she meets.

She truly believes in people. All people. I feel that is why she has stood so far in front as a leader.

So many stories we are hearing on local TV about her, it's hard not to shed some real tears of loss as well as pride.
