*tap.... tap.... * This thing on?

So... Any native Mississippians lurking around? My gal and I are fairly recent transplants to the Tupelo area.... She moved from FL and I rolled down from KY.... sorta met in the middle if you will....

We're still learning the area and would love to hear about places to visit, things to do....

hey Macele! good to meet you... was beginning to wonder if there were any other mississippians around here....

we were just down south a few weeks ago visiting NOLA for my birthday.... had a great time wondering around and taking pics... we'll probably make that trip a few times a year for the food if nothing else... :)

I have actually spoken to your girl a couple of times when you first moved here. WELCOME!!! im just outside memphis in mississippi, so not horribly far away. Hope you like it, i know i love it here. and how is the decorating going lol.
You need to check out a place called Kilgores in Hernando MS for old vintage stuff. have everything under the sun i think lol

I'm still working on the redecorating. Thanks for the new place to go check out. Maybe I can make it over there next weekend.

Sorry, Alabama, here -but I enjoy visiting Robinsville and Tunica - at least once a year - if you like playing cards and pulling the one arm bandit, these casinos are about thirty miles (?) from y'all

Arkansan here. If battlefields are your thing, there's an interesting visitor center in Corinth, and the Shiloh National Battlefield Park right over the border in Tennessee.

Corinth isn't too far from us, might have to go check that out.
We have Brices Crossroads battlefield just down the road from us, but haven't got out there yet.

I have heard about Tunica. Sounds like a lot of fun.

We were just talking about checking out First Monday in Ripley soon too. Love finding odd items for the house and several have recommended it.

I truly enjoyed my trip to Mississippi. I flew in and out of Jackson and worked/stayed in Vicksburg. The people I met were Southern polite. When I said hi to a stranger they stopped what they were doing and faced me for a short but pleasent chat.

The food in downtown Vicksburg was delicious with a Louisiana flare. The scenery was beautiful.

In Jackson we ate at "Two Sisters" restaurant and it was perfect southern food I highly recommend it.

The meeting of the minds was a wonderful learning experience. I don't think that I can ever remember being in the same space with that many respected PhD's.

Great trip.
