I wanted to give a heads up (thank you to Amiyesiam who got me looking at this) to all users. There is a potential internet hack/trojan that may impact you this summer. You can read about it here: http://www.fbi.gov/news/stories/2011/november/malware_110911/malware_110911

More importantly, you should take a few minutes (probably about 10) to read this paper: http://www.fbi.gov/news/stories/2011/november/malware_110911/DNS-changer-malware.pdf This Adobe Acrobat paper talks about how this particular trojan/malware works and how to manually detect it.

If you do not do this, you could lose internet access this summer when the FBI shuts down specific servers that the malware depends on.

If you have questions, do not hesitate to ask.

I just went through the very quick process of checking mine and it gave me the green light. Phew!

I was watching the news and they put out another website to check the DNS thingy:

Before I read through all that, does this affect Macs? Thanks.

If you click on the link that OS Butch provided, it'll easily check. Although Macs cannot be infected by the malware, they can still feel the repercussions of it and so checking is still worthwhile.

Hrmm.. We'll be investigating this but given that it's sporatic, it's going to be hard for us to nail it down. So all I ask is a bit of patience until we figure out what's causing it.

Somethings going on for sure..........

Google Chrome has crashed on me 3 times in the last 5-10 minutes. It did not start doing that until I logged on the Planet

I hope it's not one of those global worms or something.

Just logged back on...we've been crashing on and off all morning. Not just here though.

Not sure that has anything to do with this but....just thought i'd mention it.
