I recently purchased Calvin Klein Euphoria and I really like the smell on me more than from the bottle. Go try on a variety and see what smells best on you. Have your gal help you as well.. they are always the best when it comes to making that decision.

I really like Dolce and Gabbana Pour Homme or Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue Fragrance Notes: lemon, orange, lavender, sage, cedar and tobacco.

This cologne is classy and has been used by a few of my gay male friends and has been femme approved :).

Corkey-Newport looks up my alley.

Newport is a fresh scent light and not in ones face. Good choice.
I personally use Number Six. Washington used this.
Here's a hint, get the sampler box it has several scents and you can pick n choose which is right for your body chemistry.
There is plenty in the samplers to get a good read.

I am soooooo picky when it comes to men's fragrance; but here are my suggestions...

~Image By Cerruti (you cannot go wrong with this, I recommended it a lot & have NEVER been wrong on it)
~Set Sail St. Barts for Men Tommy Bahama (in the blue bottle)
~Tommy Bahama Classic (the brown bottle)

Riley wears something that is so freakin' yummy but I cannot remember the name of it though.

Hmmm, this is how I shop, I have my favorites... But I usually take a stroll around the men's Cologne counter, I will walk and do the test sample papers, but it's usually just walk through, and a certain scent will stop me dead in my track. I stop, spray it on or splash it on. I take a little walk around looking at other things and if it still smells as good as it did when it stopped me in my tracks, it's mine! And the even better hint is if it stops others in their track when you walk by...
I tend to like the Oriental spicy, Musks, Neroli, Bergamot. Cleaner fresh scents.
So I love Lucky Number 6, I also love Fahrenheit and it's always has been one that I go back to.

make sure you do not wear competing scents.........soap, deodorant. lotion, cologne...........

never ever should your scent enter the room before you...the idea is for her to get a 'whiff' of you and for that whiff to entice her to come closer

I Also have a few colognes from Avon - Wild Country, Urban Edge which is McDreamys, Derek Jeters Driven BlACK, RPM Intense, and Iron Man

Avon runs specials all the time and can get B1G1 or Buy One Get One Half. They also have bodywash, soaps, and aftershave.

Cool Water smells pretty good at least on me. Course so does musk. Someone gave me Tim Mcgraw not sure I like that smell on me.

Also, go into a store, spray one cologne on one wrist, one on the other. Walk around store. Check scents 20 minutes later. That will tell you what both will end up smelling like on you.

What smells great on me may smell atrocious on another. Do your homework, Toughys right don't mix to match, it usually ends up a hot mess.

Perfumers have for hundreds if not a few thousand years lived with the scents, the process hasn't changed much in all this time. Skin chemistry plays an important part in what will be pleasant as opposed to smelling like a wet dog. Take your time, and experience them til you find your olfactory match.
Have fun and definitely get your S/O involved.

I'm an Armani maniac. Been wearing it for years. I also have Cartier and Polo Sport. Coolwater smells pretty good too. Don't ever buy cologne at Walmart. 95% is crap or cheap-ass knockoffs...ewww... I also heard EbAy dilutes. I agree, take someone with you to a store, and walk around. Old Spice deoderant with Head and Shoulders shampoo smells good coming out of the shower too. I think Axe is awful. With colognes, you get what you pay for. And yeah..keep them out of the light, they come in those boxes for a reason.

Acqua Di Gio

Medusa
08-14-2012, 10:02 PM
IMO Acqua Di Gio is by far the BEST scent out there!

I fell in love with it so much that I made it my primary scent about 10 years ago. YES, I wear Men's cologne. YES, I love it. YES, I love to smell it on other people of any gender.

People are routinely shocked when they go on and on about how I smell so wonderful when I tell them I wear men's cologne. Whatever. I like the clean freshly-showered smell with a hint of citrus.

FAVE!

I wear cologne like twice a year, but when I do it's Adidas Deep Energy. It's really cheap too if you're also not into buying expensive shit, lol. I think it cost like 15 bucks or something like that. And...well...I think it smells good! Basically, if you've ever smelled the deodorant or body wash it's the same thing but a bit more subtle.

Otherwise I wear Axe Phoenix body spray everyday as a deodorant. I just like the smell and its pretty much the same thing as cologne, imo, except its more useful and doubles as deo :D

What scent are you? Take the quiz!

http://www.menshealth.com/grooming/personality-quiz

I am Outdoor Adventure

You’re not the type to enjoy wearing a tie to an office job. You might not even own a tie. A brisk scent smells even better with grass under your feet and sun on your shoulders.

Time for me to change my scent. I'm gonna have to read this thread see what is suggested. I need something that smells real good and is a little pricey. I enjoy going into Macys, Nordstroms and trying on new scents. haha.

Be aware that when you are looking for a new cologne, that not everyone smells the same when wearing the same cologne. So always try it on yourself before purchasing.

Me, I love wearing CK1 and the women I've been around love how it smells on me. I love the way it smells on me as well.

Still my standard "Vintage" by John Varvatos.

I am super selective about scent and being original. If I get a whiff of Abercrombie Fierce one more time, some one is gonna get hurt. Overplayed and overworked cologne. Cant wait till it vanishes from the market.

Truth be told..........I live in the scent free Bay Area. If it's a lesbian/dyke event, it is scent free. The famous friday night dances are scent free and don't go in there will smelly hair shampoo either.....lots and lots of chemically sensitive people in the bay area.......

So I smell like me most of the time with a faint whiff of a very lightly scented soap that is about gone an hour after the shower. My shampoo and clothes do not have a scent nor does my lotion. Besides, all those competing scents rarely work well together.......

Dapper said a long time ago about cologne..........one spray and walk though it.........yep that would be the amount to wear.

http://media2.onsugar.com/files/2010/07/27/4/192/1922153/6cda72f66ee2029a_Chanel-No.-5.jpg femme myself. Love how versatile and sweet it is and it really does go with everything. I always get compliments on how I smell so I guess it must work for me. :eyebat:

On a butch, I'm not terribly picky as long as they're:
a) clean
b) don't smell like my grandfather (Old Spice... do I have to say it?)
c) aren't doused in Axe like a teenage boy

That being said, my favourite cologne scent of all time has to be Armani Mania for Men:
http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/53/0b/cc/530bcce2e940d4f28437b83b56ec6beb.jpg
:cheer:
If there is one scent guaranteed to knock me off my feet, this is the one. I can always pick it out in a crowd and it makes my knees weak. It's kind of dark and musky, with an urban night time feel to it, but elegant and strong (in a good way). It's described on Amazon as "cedar, mandarin and amber, a mossy, masculine scent" and I'd have to agree.

I've recommended it to a number of friends, both men and butch, and they've all had success with it (however you define that...). Just sayin'. :p

I think if I saw even just an average looking butch (not that you aren't all handsome... :) ) walking down the street and caught a whiff of this when she walked by... said butch would have to beat me off with a bat. It's just... intoxicating. :heartbeat: Highly recommended!

My cheapy go-to for the last decade has been Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male. (came out in '95).
Because it reminded ex-mrs.d of her ex fella I stopped using it for a wee while and then because she said Dior Homme smelled spectacular on me that's what I changed over to. I always get 'you smell good' comments when wearing it. It's not half as common as JPG. Not surprising, it's twice the price too.

Now I'm back to JPG for daily squirts and Dior Homme for special squirts.

I can't smell, am totally anosmic, so I wear this stuff for other people and for the knowledge that I smell delicious.
I'm just as happy to not wear smelly stuff, I'm told I have a really good personal smell anyway...the universe making up for me not having a sense of smell mebbe?

i like some weird smells...

i like drakkar noir, and yes, old spice...

but one that usually turns my head is polo sport type of scents. i can't handle anything too sweet or strong.

currently i have my significant other wear Kenneth Cole's "black"

for me, i'm more of a "halloween" person. i haven't found another perfume that i've stuck with.

I've recommended it to a number of friends, both men and butch, and they've all had success with it (however you define that...). Just sayin'. :p Highly recommended!

I do not, normally, notice cologne unless it stinks.... BUT, a few weeks ago there was a cologne I loved so much, I asked the guy what it was... lol... Never did that before but I was thinking about presents for my sons. Armani...

I've been informed, on numerous occasions, that 'smellies' smell different on each person due to their personal chemical thang and that something which smells good on one can smell rank on another. Is this not true?

I am a fan of anything (pretty much) Armani.

I currently wear Armani Code or Aqua di Gio. But, have switched to others in the Armani area. I like something that is earthy with a citrus smell. Kind of an odd mix, so it takes me a bit to settle on something that mixes good with my body chemistry.

I have also used D&G - The One all the way down to Joe Boxer. Just depends in the end on how it mixes with my skin.

I love JPG Le Male.

I'm not very fond of many scents but the ones I like, I really like. I especially like it if it's done very lightly, so that I only smell it if they lean in to me to talk, or if they hug me. That's lovely. And that would be the middle and base notes because the top notes fade in 15 minutes.

And it is very true that personal scent completely affects the cologne. What smells great on one person, will not be such a good match on another.

I wish I could smell 'em...but even more I wish I could smell unadulterated girl!

I've been told that JPG LM lasts well and it's sillage is moderate on me....sillage is the 'wake' of scent that trails behind you. The Dior Homme however had great lasting power on my skin and will still be smelling really good the next day, it's sillage is also moderate, I'm told.

Smells really aren't that important to me, never having smelled anything, but I know they are to other people so I'm happy to oblige...when I can be bothered ;)

So...how is food for you, if your ability to smell is hampered?

I can never settle on a scent because I inevitably end up disliking the way it smells on me after awhile – maybe the result of some weird alchemy that happens on my skin. lol Interestingly, it seems to happen less with things that aren't alcohol-based, or maybe that's just my imagination.

I had a friend who used to insist everyone needs a signature scent. WHY? She was so focused on creating a "persona" that she almost took a marketing-style approach to it. I think she thought of herself as a brand.

Found a new cologne I like. O'Douds Heritage Solid Cologne.

I recently ordered their beard oil(Notes of: Cedar, Sage, Cypress) and the Tobacco Rum solid cologne.

"Crafted with the most exquisite tobacco absolute, this scent is rich, dark, sweet, and smoky. So good you may be tempted to take a drink. It feels aged, smooth, mature and yet subtle, just like you. Notes of: Tobacco, Cedar, Clary Sage, and More."

Haha! Subtle is one thing I am not. ;)

The number of colognes in my possession has shot up recently.

I still am really attached to Aqua di Parma Essenza and have a big 6 oz bottle of it. But I've expanded to having a few more options.

Like the O'Doubs Heritage solid cologne which is nice for just a little scent. I also got American Eagle Live, Burberry Weekend, and Nautica Blue.

They all have similar notes (citrusy-woody) but slightly different chemistry.

I love good smelling colognes and I have to admit that my cologne locker stays well stocked with a variety of great scents. I prefer the "fresh" scents to the heavier musks.

Currently, the scents I use most often are as follows:

1. Givenchy - Gentlemen Only
2. Yves St. Laurent - L’Homme Libre
3. Christian Dior - Farenheit
4. John Varvatos - Vintage
5. Sean Jean - Unforgiveable
6. Geoffrey Bean - Gray Flannel (an OLD favorite of mine for years)
7. Christopher Wicke - English Laundry Oxford Blue
8. Armani - Code

I am very, very careful to not overapply any of these scents. Being an asthmatic, myself, going "light" is much more effective and allows these scents to mix with my natural pheromones to produce a much more "individual" smell to them. :winky:

I have three go-to colognes, so I can always wear the one preferred by the femme I'm seeing.

1. Pasha by Cartier (French)
2. Melograno by Santa Maria Novella (Italian)
3. Molecule 01 (German)

The Molecule 01 is the weirdest but coolest. It has one molecule of fragrance that attaches to your body chemistry, and people either cannot smell it all or they will follow you for miles just to ask what it is. If people tell you you have a nice, natural scent, get some of this. It's like attaching a Marshall amp to your iPod dock--it amplifies one's essence beautifully.

Pasha by Cartier is a classic men's fragrance. It balances aromatics, rich herbs and spices with woodsy notes to create a balanced fragrance perfect for hot date nights when you want to make a lasting impression.

Melograno is from the oldest pharmacy/perfumer in Florence, Italy (circa 1612). If you saw the movie, "Hannibal," this was the perfumery he went to for a special blend of lotion he wanted to give Clarise Starling. Though melograno means pomegranate in Italian, it smells nothing like that or any fruit. It smells like something a king or aristocrat or 007 would wear--but words like powdery or musky do not do it justice.
I once took the liberty of spraying it on one of my wife pleaser undershirts and tucking it inside the luggage of a visiting femme, just before she left.
She loved it so much, now she wears it.
I felt like I had Cyrano DeBergerac'd myself with that move.

P!nk was on Ellen's show one day, and apparently they hang out a lot in real life. P!nk told the audience about a huge outdoor party Ellen and Portia had. After everyone had consumed a few drinks, Ellen was sneaking up behind some of the men and spraying their backs with Drakkar Noir.
I almost peed myself laughing. Drakkar Noir smells like a mixture of cat urine, geranium leaves and mildew.
I can think of no cologne any worse, except for Lancome's Tresor. A workmate of mine used to wear it and it smelled so bad I found it hard to like her. When she would approach the office door in the morning, that stench would waft into the office before she did.
If you fear getting kidnapped and buried alive, wear lots of Tresor or Drakkar Noir. A bloodhound could smell those cloying scents buried 6 feet deep.

I do like the Drakkar Noir too occasionally but a little goes a very long way - like one squirt for all day.

Thanks. I'm an exclusively men's cologne kind of butch.

Try Armani for
men. It's really nice.

I remember a guy in high school wearing DN. Something that's been around that long ... must be pretty good! I don't specifically remember the smell but I do remember it's strength! lol :seeingstars:

all this hate for Drakkar:jester:..in it's time it was fine..but truly, it depends who is under it..if i dig who you are then whatever you wear becomes amazing for me..like sushi, which i thought i hated but i found a love for it because i loved him-it's funny how love can change you..i enjoy it

I'm the first to admit I don't know much about fragrances, but surly sushi isn't one is it?

Back in the day all I ever wore was Brut. Ahhh yes. Now I sparingly use musk and Diesel (from Germany) My ex got it for me and I like it.

I absolutely love this shop. They have a great selection of Solid Cologne that come in a vintage tin. I travel a lot for work and you get to a point where you have to travel light and carrying heavy glass cologne bottles became annoying.

I must admit, the entire ritual is like stepping back in time which I love. If you try it, prepare to be addicted!

I am a Bath & Body Works type. I love two of their scents: You're The One and Cashmere & Snowflakes.

Sometimes I borrow a spritz or two of Rico's cologne, which is made in England. It's called Freshman. Yummy scent. :stillheart:

I know this may sound like teenagerish but..

Dragonblast body spray from Old Spice is awesome... especially with how my skin reacts to certain scents, etc!
