Allow me to clarify. I found a Stephanie with her stated last name at MIT studying physics as a grad student and the pictures were far removed from her description. I looked at the team rosters for both new england teams including the militia with no one by that name. Additionally, Steph stated regular workouts that included weights that as another member pointed out, typically exceeded world records for men and women. I remain skeptical and more so with the bodyfat that is lower than a professional female bodybuilder and an olympic swimmer.

I assure you,i wasn't the only one who googled her name. Hardly creepy. For a female body, it is dangerously low and the stored fat is necessary for day to day body functions. At the height and weight that was previously mentioned .... well, let's just say that it leaves me "speechless".

I love statistics too!
And teach it too!
(got geek?)
I'd like to see the source of the statistics presented.
Also, presenting one individual (the body builder) and contrasting it with Steph in this forum is not terribly practical and really doesn't lend itself to an accurate or precise comparison.
And, who knows HOW Steph's body fat was measured? The reality is, unless she was submerged in a dunk tank with all the forced air expelled from her lungs (the single most accurate way to determine % body fat)--the "calculations" can have a +/- factor of up to 8% or so.....
Steph has impressed me with her kindness, her intellect, her enthusiasm for our Planet her obvious adoration for Amanda--and again, I say Welcome to her.

When someone is new and young to our community I will give them a big benefit of the doubt unless they are being an asshole or in any way shape or form seem they are potentially dangerous or could potentially harm others. I would rather be wrong out of kindness than drum someone out of our community.
If she is lying about how much weight she can lift, or whether she plays on a football team, etc the only person she hurts is herself. I don't like lying or liars but this isn't something that is going to hurt me or anyone else here. If she is lying about anything I do hope she learns from her mistakes.

ditto. random public conversation about someone's character is a bummer. if someone has a beef with me i always hope they'll just come at me directly and say 'listen f*ckwit. i gotta problem wit you. let's talk it out.' i'm not a timid little bunny but calling someone someone out as a liar in a thread for something as inconsequential as whether or not they live up to their description of themselves gives me the squickies.
i'm not advocating lying or letting someone get away with lying when we're talkin public safety, the wellbeing of those who are easily exploited, area 51, and etc. i'm sayin that it really doesnt matter if Steph is lying about herself or not because if she is lying then the only person who's gonna be disappointed about the reality of things is Steph. no one needs to build a flashing neon sign and throw glitter at it. lying becomes apparent on its own and ends up reaping an appropriate 'reward' in the long run. (we've all been down that road at least once in life) if Steph is embellishing then Steph pays the price. no one loses a million dollars, no one bursts into flame, no one's birthday gets taken away. if you think a person's posturing is out of the ordinary for most human behavior then the worst thing you can do to them is pay no attention.

I just think that if you are going to start a public thread with some really outrageous claims of strength and such, people are going to question it. This is a public forum, and not everyone is going to agree or accept everything that is said at face value. I mean, I know that the internet doesn't lie (tongue in cheek) and that everyone online is completely and totally honest to a fault (tongue on other side of cheek)....
... but we're talking about some amazing stuff here. Can it be true? Maybe. Can it be a sack of wet lies? Certainly. It's only human nature to question.
My own intention is not to grill anyone.

I'm sorry it makes you uncomfy, not my intention. Nothing veiled or back handed about it. I truly feel sorry for her and my words were not "honeyed". I'm hoping she gets a clue and maybe even realizes that it's ok to be yourself, including flaws and all.
You say that as if it's a foregone conclusion that she is in some way being misleading.
Now, for all the haters... cause that IS what you're being... for all of you... seriously, unless you know for absolute sure that this person is not who she says she is, why would you even feel the need to post such negative bullshit on this thread? Why the need to post at ALL?
Furthermore, if you DO know for sure, then DON'T READ her threads. See how simple and drama free life can be? But maybe that's the entire point, there are those who thrive on drama.
I agree, this thread has started to suck, but not because of the OP's post. Rather, it's because of those who THINK their opinion is fact and they feel a need to belittle and put down, BASED on that OPINION!
As Mother would say... "if you don't have anything nice to say about someone, then shut up till you grow up."

I am sorry if I am missing the point here, but ...
Why do we care?
Why do we care about her body fat percentage?
Why do we care if she is lying or being deceitful?
Why do we care so much about someone we don't know, may never meet and likely will never befriend?
I want someone to honestly tell me why they care so much about this in the grand scheme of life?
I will be 100 percent honest with you. I find the posts in here grossly disturbing and weirdly annoying. If I came in here and said I had three heads would you all jump on it and analyze and re-analyze my every word? Google search me for "proof?"
It's the Internet. Take it at face value. Think to yourself (operative phrase here), "Thanks for sharing and have a nice day."

I'm not hating sweetheart, I can smell BS when it's fresh and have no problem calling someone out on it.
Now, how's about you go back and look through my 600+ posts and see if you can find any fuckin drama!! I DO NOT do drama AT ALL!! It just so happens that this last thread was the final straw (maybe my raging PMS had something to do with it, whofuckinknows!)! I smelled BS from day one with this person and simply rolled my eyes, laughed and let it go thread after ridiculous thread started by her and then.I.snapped! I hate when I lose control like that.
Oh and BTW, I'm not belittling or putting her down. I simply asked for a little proof (along with several other ppl) to back up some of her outrageous claims. Funny how she has continued to ignore folks that (in the beginning) showed an interest and wanted to see just how amazing she supposedly is. Where's the harm in that? As someone who's not exactly going to clamor for Steph's personal info here, my best guess as to why people want proof of her claims is because if they're true, she is the badass hero destined to save us from (insert your least favourite bogeyman here, like "the far-right war on women" or such) and we mere mortals need to find the Sword of Truth for her like right now.

"Bless her heart"
"I feel sorry for her"
"SWEETHEART!!??"
Ok, now, your above posts, taken of course, at face value, because obviously, I don't KNOW you, but, apparently, that doesn't mean a damned thing when it comes to judging people, at least for you... based on that above post, you don't truly give a flying fuck if her heart is ever blessed, you could give a rats ass about her... and hence can't feel sorry for her.. and I don't know where you come from... but if I were in a workplace and ANYONE I did not know, called me sweetheart, which, unless it is said from a lover to her lover is diminishing in it's use, I would turn your ass in.
I would never call anyone by anything but there name, or, on here, their handle, without first, asking permission.
But, again, looking back at your responses here (the entire PMS excuse) and again, without TRULY knowing you, (and we've already established that that isn't necessary to judge someone) I'd say you knew damned full well when you said those afore mentioned things, you were being demeaning, in a honey coated kind of way. I too KNOW the southern "polite" sweet as pie, ways of putting others down, and they are no less demeaning then one's spouted straight out.
As for thriving on drama... well.. ya'll... I challenge you to look at any of my posts and find any place where I have deliberately and methodically tried to rip someone, or their authenticity, apart. The only harsh words I have ever posted, were in response to hate filled posts directed at an individual. Especially when they are done by a mob mentality... it feeds off of itself and really, aren't we all just a little to OLD and intelligent to simply say or do something just because we can??
I am genuinely (tongue in cheek) concerned for you, however. If an online forum can make you lose your temper, what does the real world do to you?
Ok... that last bit was snarky, I'll just blame on the anemia and low hemoglobin, the cramps, ovulating and just being downright grumpy today.

I'm also clueless about her lying or not.........and who cares.....
Certainly instead of a new thread this could have been posted in the WTF/Zombie thread, but then we would not have all this drama about truth-telling. And she is a newbie and might not yet have the hang of all the threads.

Bench 450- 20 reps
Squat 670 10 reps
Dead lift 915-5 reps
World powerlifting Federation records
Womens open class
Liz Freel USA dead Lift 227 Kg.=500 pounds 9/6/10
Deborah Fennel USA benched 419.5 pounds 5/2006
These were ONE rep mind you.
So 20 reps at 450 would make more than a few folks cock their head to the side and go....what?????
Alot has been chewed up and spit out.... what i,m hearing that saddens me is justification for untruth....if one of our bros or sisters get lied to and hurt we dont sit and defend....

so sick of the 'i'm better than you because i dont tell lies' attitude. tell lies all you want. i might not trust you with everything but i'll always look to understand the reasons why you lie because there's information there that will help me understand something about you and maybe learn something myself. but publicly deride others for their humanity, weaknesses and short comings and i wont bother trying to understand your reasoning. i already know it:

We've seen it all on the forums, and have probably at one
point in our lives done one or more of the following:
Embellishing
Exaggerating
Fabricating
The kind of thing that seems harmless...right?
Then there is lying.
And the Intent.
To Me
...to lie with the intent to make yourself feel better does not mean
that you're always aware of the fact that while doing
so you are making others feel as though the intent
is to make them feel bad about themselves.
I learned this one at a young age.
But there's a default feature of my own
that follows the veins of the 'benefit of the doubt' theory.
Throwing in statistics that make the OP's numbers from another thread
seem unobtainable surely has to have folks wondering whether
there's embellishing or otherwise happening.
So I think that speculating seems fairly ordinary at this point.
Of course, the manner in which we all engage about it should
not be such that it raises the blood pressure of our keyboards...n stuff.

Hi, Daywalker.
No, I haven't been aware of seeing any of those things on the threads.
And there were only a couple times when I thought there was intentional fabrication designed to manipulate readers in a potentially malicious way—and I reported it.
But the vast majority of the time, I take things at face value. Your post makes me wonder if I'm not a critical enough reader.
Thinking about it.

Hey, Bulldog. Not talking about this thread in particular but in a general way—
I have to respectfully disagree.
I think lying and deceitfulness violate a tacit agreement on online forums that people will represent themselves authentically.
If I invest time and thought and emotion into building online friendships and comradery with people on a social website, I will feel tricked and used if their side of it was fictional, while mine was not.
It's like I'm naked, and they have all their clothes on—but were pretending to be naked. If that makes sense. Probably not.
Let me try again.
I don't want to be used as an audience for someone's need to be something other that who they really are.
It disgusts me. I would tell them, Go jerk off to some other reader.
And it's okay that you and I have such different views on it, I just wanted to say mine.
Thanks,

If I feel someone is liar I wont engage with them. I don't form any sort of emotional investment with them.
I have known of many people who have misrepresented themselves on these forums, some in minor ways and some in major ways, some for many years. There is never any excuse for it, but I am under no illusion that the majority of people represent themselves here authentically. Some do. Some people I do know personally and although the online world doesn't completely do them justice, they are real and authentic people.
Kobi, interesting theory. Personally I don't think high school boys would pose this way or know enough about butch femme. I can't imagine why someone would say they were happily engaged to their high school sweetheart if they wanted to pull the rug over on the whole forum. I was just thinking. When i was 23 i had a baby on one hip and one on the way. It would have been LIFE changing if i had been privy to the internet and a place like BFP to help me find my way.
I don't even think the internet was invented when i was 23 come to think of it LOL. But, my point is...
If this is someone who is truly that young and they are trying to find community, i don't want to see them run off.
I am one of the peeps that just really, really hopes, that this person is reaching out for a hand and finding their way. And i'm hoping that even if they are embellishing a little here and there, they will "get it" and their lives will be BETTER having found us as a home.

I disagree. When someone comes into a community and lies and deceives, it's a problem, and shouldn't be ignored. All societies socialize their members.
However, that wasn't really my issue. I posted that the thread seems self-serving and self-congratulatory. when Stephie said that wasn't the intent, I asked for clarification of the intent by making a thread out of this, rather than just posting a comment in another thread. Stephie has chosen not to respond, which is certainly Stephie's right, but it doesn't help me change my opinion if it is, indeed, a misunderstanding on my part.

First, your body fat percentage is simply the percentage of fat your body contains. If you are 150 pounds and 10% fat, it means that your body consists of 15 pounds fat and 135 pounds lean body mass (bone, muscle, organ tissue, blood and everything else).
A certain amount of fat is essential to bodily functions. Fat regulates body temperature, cushions and insulates organs and tissues and is the main form of the body's energy storage. The following table describes body fat ranges and their associated categories:
*General Body Fat Percentage Categories
Classification Women (% fat) ............. Men (% fat)
Essential Fat 10-12% ................ 2-4%
Athletes 14-20% ................ 6-13%
Fitness 21-24% ............... 14-17%
Acceptable 25-31% ................ 18-25%
Obese 32% plus ................ 25% plus
*American Council on Exercise
Knowing your body fat percentage can also help you determine if your weight loss goals are realistic. Remember, weight loss doesn't always mean fat loss. For example:
Let's say you're a 130# woman with 23% body fat, and you goal is to "lose 20 pounds":
Initial body fat: 130# x 0.23 fat = 30 # body fat
Lean body mass: 130# total - 30# fat = 100# lean body mass (bones, organs and all else)
Goal: 130# - 20# = 110 pounds
As you can see, the goal of losing 20 pounds is not realistic or healthy. At 110 pounds, this woman still requires 100# of lean body mass (bones, organs, etc.), but would only be carrying 10#, or only 9% body fat. From the chart above, you can see that this is a dangerously low percentage.
A better goal might be for the woman to reduce her body fat from 23% to 18%. In this case:
130# x 0.18 = 23 # body fat
100# lean body mass + 23 # = 123# goal weight
So, for this individual to achieve a lean, but healthy 18% fat, she would need to lose only 7 pounds of fat, reducing her weight from her current 130 pounds to 123 pounds. Losing more than 7 pounds means losing lean body mass (usually metabolically-active muscle tissue), which is clearly not desirable.
So before you decide that you need to "lose weight", remember to consider that "weight" consists of both lean body mass and body fat. Try to keep your weight loss goals realistic, and remember, keep the calorie-burning muscle, and lose only the fat.

okay, i only read part of this thread because my head started to hurt.
i came in here to say...assuming what you say is true because i like to believe the best of people...i am so so happy for you that you're meeting your body and athletic goals.
but i've also had an eating disorder for half my life and i lost my period and put my body in severe danger by having too little body fat (and the amount of body fat one needs for women is higher than for men). i was at my sickest when i was most athletic (i'm a dancer). i didn't mind losing my period but i mind now the long-term damage to my reproductive system, bones, and metabolism.
i'm not saying you have an eating disorder, but for any woman, having body fat % that low is really dangerous.
please please take care of yourself.

I have a scale that measures your BMI. Mine just said please step off Now! Is there a hidden meaning here?
I lol'd at this.
I use my Wii Fit Plus board to weigh myself and get my body fat measurements - I like it better than the VA scales because they got me weighing 20lbs heavier than my WFP :winky:
But every time I step onto my WFP board, the damn thing says, "OH!" ... as if I am so damn heavy even the machine cant take it!
And when my body fat measurement comes up, she tells me, "That's obese!" as if I dont already know that!

If it turns out she is not who she says she is, I will fill a twinge of sadness and my life will go on. She will not have harmed me.
It really, really does bother me how a part of our community treats new and young people here. It really, really does not make me feel good.

I hate that damn thing - she's so mean. lol

this might be a bit of a derail, but the ageism issue has come up in a few threads recently, and i think i'm one of the youngest posters here so it's made me stop and think.
i found this community shortly after i turned 24 and it's definitely changed my life and i'm really grateful for it.
there've been a few cases where i've felt people were condescending towards me because of my age, but thankfully those have been relatively few and far between.
i'm grateful that there are people here who actively want to welcome younger people and who value what we have to say. not only that, but people who want (and are willing to support) our participation fully in the community - it meant a lot to me to get a scholarship to the reunion and to have people ask me and follow up with me about being able to go. and to have people just continuously engage with me through rep comments, posts, and pms. i have almost always felt welcomed and valued here.
i definitely wouldn't want anyone to leave because they felt attacked on the basis of age. (or because they felt like they did/said something stupid...i think we've all done that here more than a few times. i know i have, and often it had nothing to do with age.)

I'm all for a community of diversity, however, I don't believe in excusing people's behavior because of X (pick age or whatever you'd like). Yes, I can see how some mistakes can be made because of someone's inexperience with the website; yes, I did see some extremely vicious posts in response to the OP, but I would expect a person who is a PhD candidate from MIT to be able to understand where the conflict is coming from and why, and to formulate a response. At 23 I worked full time, went to school, and was paying a mortgage. 23 is adulthood. Young adulthood yes, but still adulthood.

Again i dont get it... So what age is appropriate to engage in questioning statements and facts that seem downright questionable?..... 30...35?
and how long do we have to wait for the new member to respond to not one but many questionable statements?..... 6 months.....1 year?
So what changes in that time as far as our facts and "treatment" goes?
I thought treatment had to do with how we asked, what we said, how we said it,
I didnt realize that just questioning the validity/facts was outright poor treatment.
I was raised that if it smells like poop.... go ahead call it poop!
and/or its ok to question things and encouraged at times to do so.....

So true Corkey!!!!
We were all new at one point and some of us had peeps that helped us get the hang of it all. Some don't/didn't.
Just as aishah said, we've all (many) have done things we are not proud of, whether it was saying things without thinking, coming from a place of naivety, non-rational thinking, projecting, anger, etc.
No one is perfect. Not even us queers. We all make mistakes.
IMO life is a journey, we try new waters and grow. Hopefully we listen and learn as well and not give up even when the waters turn rough.
Hopefully that will be the case here.

I'm not sure what you're basing your opinion on, but I don't see anything that far out of line. I saw some shitty posts, yes, but nothing I haven't seen before, and I'm not even sure they broke any TOS. I see a lot of posts where people are questioning the OP's statements because they are quite fantastic, but like so many of these types of threads, when the OP doesn't return to respond to even the most neutral and sincerest of questions, it leads to speculation by others who have already posted. And like other threads before this, if the OP never comes back, it'll be chalked up to another hoax and everyone will forget about it.

Sorry Smirks. My clarification- I was just talking about an interesting thing that had happened to me. Someone also wondered why I posted it as a new thread: In general, I prefer not to hijack threads. I may need to get over that fear, though.

The first time it happened, I was all, "what did she just say?"
Then when I figured it out .... oh hell no.
LOL
You know, the lowest body fat I have ever had was when I was 21 years old and in boot camp - I was 5'10" (still am, actually, I havent begun to shrink - yet!), 135lbs, and 11% body fat.
Girl, let me tell you, my body flipped its shit - among other things that I cant remember because this was 20 years ago, I stopped having my period for 3 months (boot camp and school afterwards) and I almost completely stopped sweating, which in the Florida sun during July and August is not a good thing. lol
I have had moments where I look at pics of myself back then and long to be that thin again, but honestly, I think it was unbelievably unhealthy - for me - to be that thin with that BMI.
Dont get me wrong, I am no healthier now than I was then - I have gone from one extreme to another since I am now carrying around a Back Street Boy with a weight of 265 & a BMI of 38% if you believe my Wii - a weight of 285 & a BMI of over 40% if you believe the VA, so .... yeah.
Apparently, I need to find a happy medium! :winky:

If you pick the right thread, it isnt a hijack. :winky:
I agree, going into the Daddy/girl thread to talk about your BMI would probably be a derail and send them all to shaking and scratching their heads!
But the CIJS (Can I Just Say) thread, for example, is filled with a lot of BFPers (like me) just sharing info about themselves, their day, their lives, etc; and while the YSK (You Should Know) thread started out as something different, it has evolved into the same kind of thread - a sort of YSK this or that about me (general me, not just me Parker lol).
Those are just 2 off of the top of my head - there are loads of others in various other areas of the forums where you can share a few things about yourself without feeling like you are derailing. :)

Just for shiggles, I had my body fat measured. I have 3% body fat! I saw that, and thought,"Knew I was lean, didn't realize I was that lean!"
Uhhh...are you sure? The lowest pro body builders are able to get without serious health repercussions is 4-5% body fat...and that's during competition season when they're eating to maintain it. During the off season, not even body builders can maintain a fat percentage that low. The diet you'd need to maintain it would not be feasible over a long term period. Most high level athletes generally sit around 7-10% though it can depend on the sport...
Was it the doctor who actually performed the caliper test? Calipers are seen as one of the more accurate ways of measuring body fat, but if used by someone who isn't certified to use them you can definitely get just as inaccurate a reading as with a Tanita or other similar methods (which can be as high as 10% off).

Genetics plays an important roll in our bodies. How many fat cells we carry n so on. Which is why we are all unique and should celebrate that, instead of grilling folks on their physique. SMH

Wow...well for some reason that I can not manage to figure out I actually read all freakin 9 pages of this...(whatever it is) and I really want my 15 minutes of my life back.
Ok now for my unsolicited .02 cents. Who give two hoots! I am having a hard time grasping why this has turned stirred the crap over someone's apparent body fat.
Another issue I see here is let's just assume for a moment that she does indeed have 3% body fat. That is her choice and her body. I don't see how one can come and tell someone they are not within healthy body fat% Sure 3% is definitely low for women especially of child bearing age but in reality all that is going to do if she is the height and weight she claims then it will simply in most cases cease menustration or her ability to get pregnant. No big deal. I am sure if she is receiving physicals her actual Dr. would have discussed any possible risks or red flags.
Secondly I think it is rather absurd for anyone to tell her she has an unhealthy body% percentage. I think if we all posted ours here there would be a good portion that are high enough to be considered VERY unhealthy. Which of course I don't think very many of us think it is ok to single that person's % and to lecture them in a non supportive way.
Thirdly I definitely agree with others who have posted that it is indeed creepy to be monitoring someones log on and log off times. The ironic part of that is that the admitted while questioning the OP being able to have a life if logged in all the time. Umm...well if you have the time to monitor someone's log in and log off patterns then I think it might be time for a hobby.
Lastly, I personally agree with those that said wtf about why this thread was even started. Some saying it was a self focused thread to boast and for attention but there are plenty of threads like that. Some of them even titled as the persons personal space or so and so's corner....I just don't see the difference.

it is a big deal, in the sense that below a certain percentage your body literally does not have enough fat to sustain life and it causes lifelong health repercussions. not just infertility. this goes beyond genetics or life choices. below a certain body fat percentage is actually extremely, immediately dangerous. i'm really hoping that the doctor got that number wrong.
obviously it's someone's individual choice to do that and i respect their choice. i guess i should keep that to myself now - i have a high body fat percentage (though not immediately life-threateningly high) at this point in my life and people do go all wacko on me about it sometimes and that sucks. but i do know a lot of people who don't realize the damage that overexercising or undereating or maintaining an extremely low body fat % can do to their bodies because it's not talked about as much, and i wish that i had known and had someone to support me, so i felt the need to speak up at least. i also really worry about that kind of standard being glorified here.
it's individual choice and i respect people's choice. i just worry. sorry about that.
(edited to add: and to put it in perspective, for women, below 11% is the point at which you usually lose your period and are at risk for infertility and osteoporosis. below 8% is the point at which your immune system is compromised and you start having issues with fatigue, being cold, memory problems, blackouts, etc. even men cannot maintain below 5% for long periods of time, as ender pointed out.)

With all due respect, this bugged me.
There's a thread here, I believe it's entitled "the fat positive lounge"
Now, there is nothing wrong with accepting and loving yourself, no matter WHAT size you are. However, could it not be said that that thread is glorifying a certain standard as well?
I believe that no matter what size you are, you should be treated with respect and not bombarded with how "unhealthy" you are.
Being overweight or obese is BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH!
Being underweight or anorexic is BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH!
One extreme, is just as unhealthy as the other.
Having said that, each person is responsible for their own health. They have the option of seeing a doctor, they also have the option of not seeing one. It is up to each individual and their health care provider, to decide what is healthy and what isn't healthy, not the general public.
Even then, if people here are physicians or health care providers (I know there are some here) until they actually see the patient (individual) even their "expert opinion" is just that, an opinion and doctor's are not always right.
Case in point. I had a gastric bypass in 2007. We were told, in no uncertain terms, that post surgery, and, for the most part, the rest of our lives, we would not be able to take any OTC pain relievers with blood thinners in them, OR prescribed medications with blood thinners in them.
When I came out of the anesthesia, morphine wasn't taking care of the pain (we know now that morphine just does not work with me) the recovery room doctor and RN tried to force a percoset (sp?) on me!
Later, after having had an stomach ulcer and a gastric hemhorage(?) my PCP STILL prescribed prescription strength naproxen for pain.
Anyway...
I don't think it's in any way fair to judge someone's looks or health by what size they are, no matter if they are big or small.
Just my two cents worth.

i'm really sorry that i posted any of that. genuinely and sincerely, because i really hate it when people say things like that to me. i can't go back and unpost it or delete it, but i wanted to apologize. i'm really, extremely freaked out by this but i should have kept that to myself and not put it on other people.

I think that we all have an opinion, I'm not gonna slam someone because of it, I open my mouth at times too. We're human. I think that we all want Steph to be in a healthy place, and that's ok. Policing how she does it isn't our business.
I love it that the community cares enough to encourage her, without the judgement.

I think they did the pinch method to me in boot camp back in '92 - and I think they used an instrument and they did it on my upper arm. That was so long ago (my 20yr anniversary of boot camp was this past May), I cant believe I can even begin to remember it! Seemed weird then and it seems weird now, but what did/do I know, I aint no scientist! lol
My Wii Fit Plus and the VA go by my height and weight to determine my BMI now, but I think a lot of health clubs, personal trainers, sports organizations, etc still use the pinch method - I wonder if maybe it gives a more accurate measurement.

Actually no the tank method gives a more accurate measurement. The pinch is generally used only in doctors offices because of the expense of the tank.

No, actually. Fat positive space is a result of the social stigma of fat and not because anyone is glorifying an unattainable obese-standard that's spread across every form of media.

although i am curious how you are surviving with 3% body fat. just cannot wrap my brain around that.
I realize we are talking about gender differences, but my father (who is a runner) has 3% body fat, and although he's very fit, he is by no means "skinny", just fit. He also isn't that tall (5'7" I think) so that probably factors into it.
