There Goes Mercury Retrograde Again!

Three to four times a year, Mercury goes retrograde. Retrograde to an astrologer means that the planet looks like it is going backwards. This is due to the length of its orbital path compared to the Earth's.

To some it would seem that during this period, communications break down. Mechanical things go awry. Creativitity takes an inward turn.

This thread is to alert you to the upcoming Mercury retrogrades if you are someone who does believe that it can be a bit messy during Mercury's little backward stroll around our planet.

If you are not someone who thinks this, that's okay too. There are plenty of threads to start about how you are NOT affected by Mercury's retrograde. :D

The 2010 Mercury Retrogrades are:

December 26, 2009 at 21 Capricorn
Mercury turns direct January 15, 2010 at 5 Capricorn

Mercury turns retrograde April 18 at 12 Taurus
Mercury turns direct May 11 at 2 Taurus


Mercury turns retrograde August 20 at 19 Virgo
Mercury turns direct September 12 at 5 Virgo

Mercury turns retrograde December 10 at 5 Capricorn
Mercury turns direct December 30 at 19 Sagittarius

All the retrogrades this coming year (including the one that starts on Saturday of this week) are in Earth signs. This year's were in Air.

I am still not a believer of this retrograde phenomenom. If you (the general you) tell people they are going to have a bad week, and they get it in their head they are going to have a bad week, then they will in fact, have a bad week.

I have heard people use the phrase: "oh, mercury must be in retrograde this week" because something bad happened. I think it is all in a lot of people's heads sometimes...lol

Not that I am making fun of people who believe in it....I am simply saying that I do NOT believe in it. If I am having a bad week, I simply blame it on the fact that I am not projecting enough positive energy or thoughts into that part of my life....or that I need to step back, take a deep breath, then move on.

FWIW, I think G has a very very good point here.

It is a key ingredient in good Voodoo magic. You tell the person you are casting a hexing spell on them. This is done in clever little ways by leaving a bent spoon on the property or something like that (note: I don't know that it is a bent spoon but that came to mind just now. I am very tired.)

Then every little thing that goes wrong gets tied back in your mind to the HEX even though it's just plain bad luck. Or is it?

Hard to tell because we do call bad things into our lives by our ideas, I think. If you think negative thoughts, negativity finds a roosting spot and then spreads.

If I am reading the chart correctly, Mercury went retrograde four days after my birth. I can't honestly say if I notice the bad stuff that happens during retrograde. However, I usually have a very sunny/positive outlook on life.

As an astrologer, this can go either way.
It depends on other astrological influences - both natal and daily.

Those born with Merc Rx probably already know they have a tendency to say the wrong things, or not make themselves clear - the best thing to do is really make an effort to stop and think before 'speaking'.

Depending on what sign your Mercury is in, it doesn't have to be retrograding in order to feel these same effects.

I am not an astrologist. However, I do ceremony at the full and new moon. I do recognize the influence of the building energy the week before the full moon. Tend to cause emotional peaks and valleys for myself and others. female energy seems to be most affected the first 3 days of the week preceding; male energy the last 2days. I have noticed for myself there are some full moons that tend to be more intense than others. Blue moons tend to emit more energy than others.

The energy shift at the new is gentler. It seems to fulfill it cermonial purpose of personal goal setting.

I am an intuitant. However, I don't do readings unless it is for a personal enhancement purposeor an emergency. I do agree with you that psychics are more acute in picking up body language cues than most people. I have seen intuitants lose their gift when their greed and/or ego overtook them. Because the gift is 'spiritual', to use it for profit brings it into the 'physical' level which lessens the 'spiritual connection'.

I am so tired of dropping things, knocking things over and general clumsiness...more than my usual.

For example - as I was typing this post my text disappeared, so I had to start over.

Yesterday I was bringing a client file to my desk - my boss needed it for court that afternoon. I stopped in the waiting area to straighten things up and laid the file on a chair. the very second my back was turned the file slid off the chair and landed right smack in the dog's water dish! Yesterday was nothing short of "Hell Day" at work. After a brief reprieve on Thursday yesterday it all came on full bore. Opening with a less caustic email from the individual who blasted me on Wednesday. Followed by an unpleasant encounter with a client who unleased on me the full load of his frustration with his case coupled with a temper tantrum because the Courts will not allow him to file his marital asset/debt inventory in the form HE wanted to use rather than to follow the law. He screamed at me so loudly and for so long his voice actually cracked. I sat there, expressionless (like I always do when they act like this) until he was finished and in a quiet voice told him how we were going to use the form to incorporate his information. (Obviously my boss was not in the office.) After lunch I was blasted by a former client who became agitated that he would have to pay to meet with my boss.

Then to top it all off, earlier in the day I used a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on the walls in my office to remove marks. Lucky me it left a residue and I think may have altered the colour of the paint. Naturally my boss noticed and I told her what I had done. We are both hopeful that when it is completely dry it will not be as noticable...or I will be saddled with the cost of fixing it. Never had this problem before with one of those things so I had no reason to expect to this time. I was wrong. This is actually causing me more stress than bad client behaviours...

I've had the same sort of week. Everything has fell into place. I even sprayed my mother's trees, something i've never even thought about doing in my life, no problems whatsoever. Put together two tvs without any problems at all. Seems everything is lined up right.

Go figure...it is retrograde and i'm having a good week.
