Let's really go back. Do you remember the days before the fancy roller skates? Remember these and them coming off and swirling around beside your foot but still attached to your ankle?

I remember skating around central park in those things and thinking they were the best, I've probably skated for miles in those. I wonder, do regular skates even exist anymore or is it all inline now?

Its so great to see all these memories. I'm thinking we are all from the same generation!!!

I had the Farrah Fawcett bangs...lol

I used to get up an hour and a half before I had to leave so I could do hair and make up, it took forever to curl those bangs and feathered sides every day.

Derby girls wear them so they still exist, check with your local team to see where they get them or Google derby girl supplies. I know our local sports equipment store has them.

Omg i had this hair too. Me, you and thousands more as i remember it. It did take a long time to do. And oh those fly away ends that tons of hair spray wouldn't calm down.

Remember how we had to do the sweep backwards with the brush? I would die if anyone saw a pic of me with that. Funny!!!!

I sort of still have those, mine are just all clear glass. About 15-20 years older than that version I imagine.

I have my mother's & grandmothers and have added my own junk shopping...mine are all clear too. Love them!

http://pics2.ds-static.com/prodimg/192000/300.JPG

My mom bought one at a junk shop & my dad had it fixed so it worked//without money, and it hangs in their kitchen...still works too!!

BTW you too could own and use one of these in your kitchen too!! You'd have to move to Lockhart Texas and buy this house but all this could be yours too!!

Those times are here and there's still more to come! We have the moving sidewalks in the airports, the video chat (skype), and many other things... I'm waiting for the jetpacks and flying cars like the ones they have... although we do have some of those things in the making now. I know.. I keep up with this news and information. It didn't burn as bad as iodine, remember? But. It's lethal. Many a knee in the neighborhood, including mine (i do not hide my klutziness) had orange knees!!!

mosquito truck still doing that in my area.

i remember as a kid ... there were sisters that lived across from me, neighborhood. i wasn't quite old enough to keep company with them but MY sister was. they would ride bikes through the spray/fog, and one day they were close to a ditch. one sister hollered with her hands off the handle bars, "i'm in heaven! i'm in heaven!" then all of a sudden she hit the ditch (rather deep ditch). the other sister said, "not anymore. you are in hell!" i remember loving to hear MY sister tell that story. still do.

Mine too! It was comfort food for her during the WWII and she always made it for me while telling me stories about the house she lived in with my great aunt while their husbands were off at war. They both had such wonderful stories of the time, sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and fudge they made with what they had of war rations. I grew up hearing all about those days and they were both all smiles and laughter when they told the stories- it seemed like the happiest times of their lives.

I stepped on his ear once and it went deep. So deep my mom had to pull it out while my daddy held me down. I was like 3 and i still remember it. It traumatized me for life.

Ended up going to the ER for tetanus shot and couldn't walk on my foot for days.

Now, they make them with blunt ends. Duh. Back in MY day them ears and other parts, were so sharp they could cut frozen meat.

remember when the star spangeled banner played everyone would stand some would cross there heart an some would have tears but everyone took there hats off
when everyone waved at each other driving down the road and it wasnt just there middle finger

This made me laugh. I bitch about this all the time. If someone (even a perfect stranger) is within reach I will remove their hat for them... and usually hit them with it. If they are within voice distance they will be told to remove their hat. I'm rude like that. Mind you that is for the CANADIAN anthem, although I will show respect for the Americans as well, remove my hat and stand... But, I won't sing.

When Leif was 17 he was driving his Porsche, drunk, and on qualudes with his best friend. He flipped the Porsche leaving his friend paralyzed for life. He did not see his friend for 20 years following the accident.

He lead a crazy life then one day decided to go see his friend. He had not yet dealt with what he did. He invited the cameras in for an episode in which he ruinites with his friend. His friend sued and received 7.1 million dollars as a result of the accident.

He said in an interview he had more sex and drugs by age 12 than most people have in a lifetime. That's a lot of sex and booze.

He seems to have cleaned up his act and made peace with himself, and this is what he looks like today

What about the theme song for Beverly Hillbillies? I loved that show. Remember Miss Jane? I remember the first time I saw her, the actress at a gay bar in Southern California. I did not know she was a lesbian. Rumor had it she was friends with the owner of the bar, a lesbian softball coach.

Here are the lyrics:

Come listen to a story about a man named Jed
A poor mountaineer, barely kept his family fed,
Then one day he was shootin' at some food,
And up from the ground came a bubblin' crude.
Oil that is, black gold, Texas tea.

Well the first thing you know ol' Jed's a millionaire,
His kinfolk said, 'Jed, move away from there!'
They said, 'Californy is the place you oughtta be.'
So, they loaded up the truck and moved to Beverly.
Hills, that is, Swimmin' pools, movie stars.

Y'all come back now, y'hear?

Thousands of years ago the teaches had us bring them to school and we made book covers out of them. Chuckles, maybe I should have posted this in the how do you know you are getting older thread.

Riding your bike to the store to pick up a few things your mom needed.
Cutting the neighbor's grass for a whopping 50 cents being pissed that you only got 50 cents.
Your dad finding out you got 50 cents from an old lady and making you give it back. Oh the outrage of it all. Lol

Neighborhood forts were built in the backyard using scrap lumber from anyone they could gather it from?

Meetings were held with all the neighborhood kids?

President, vice-president, secretary, and treasure were elected?

Everyone took turns bringing refreshments?

And nothing actually got accomplished but it was great fun for hours and hours at a time?

Yeh, good times!!

We still have two of these in my area and they have (other than prices) stayed true to form. Everyone shows up an hour or two early, trying to get a good parking spot and the field in front of the screen is filled with people playing catch, hula hooping, etc. while they wait for the movies to start. Old school snack bar with fries, burgers, shakes, and candy. It's so much fun!
