Sometimes, weird things just happen. They're unexplained, supernatural or just weird until you understand what actually took place. I figured I'd start a thread for all things creepy and unexplained. This doesn't necessarily have to involve the paranormal but anything that just didn't make sense and scared you at the time.

Here's mine:

Last night, I'm in the hot tub. It's late and pitch black outside as it was nearing midnight. I hadn't done this yet but everybody was in bed so I got brave and yanked off my bathing suit. Not 30 seconds into enjoying the freedom of being nude in hot bubbling water, I heard the most God-awful screeching sound come from the woods behind the house. I heard three or four warbling high-pitched screeches and then nothing but silence. Now my rational mind knew it had to be an animal but instinct took over and I jumped out of the hot tub, wrapped myself up in a towel and booked it inside.

I went on You Tube and listened to a few animal sounds and from what I hear, it was probably an owl but I'd never heard one make that kind of sound before. Just the "Hoot Hoot" you expect to hear, not a screech. And especially since I had just gotten brave enough to take off my suit and it's right at that moment I hear it. lol! Not cool. Mystery solved but it still scared the heck out of me.

Anybody else have a creepy or odd story to share?

i like this thread..and i will definitely be posting here when i have more time. i have some truly spooky stories....and btw...if the sounds weren't an owl, try listening to the mating call of a fishercat....it sounds just like a woman screaming...scary....otherwise i would say it had to be bigfoot...lol

About 20 years ago, my partner and I were driving home. We lived in Memphis at the time and were taking a short-cut through a suburban neighborhood in order to avoid the bigger/busier streets. We took this shortcut tons of times before and since. On this one night, I had stopped at the sign, turned left, went about 10' then for the briefest second or two, the street lights went away (not turned off, went away), the houses disappeared, and the road was dirt, there were many more trees. Then it all came back.

I looked at my partner, thinking I was nuts. She was looking at me with this shocked look and asked "Did you see that?" We had both experienced the same thing. We hadn't been talking about anything related, hadn't watched any scifi shows, anything weird. I personally believe in parallel realities, and for whatever reason, I believe we passed through some type of tear that night.

Wow! That's amazing. I had a similar tear-in-time thing happen to me and my cousin when we were children. Very weird.

I have had many, many creepy things happen to me over the years. GREAT idea for a thread!!!!

Long ago i worked for a computer company and was sent to Alpheretta Georgia, which is about a four hour trip, for some training occasionally. I was on the interstate just leaving Knoxville and i looked at my gas o'meter and it was on a quarter of a tank. So, i thought i had better stop and get some gas to get me there. I knew there was an exit about 5 miles up the road where i had remembered seeing an Exxon on a previous trip.

A funny thing happened on the way to that exit. It never came. Not only that but around 10 miles down the road i was not in Knoxville anymore. I was in Alpharetta Georgia. I looked at the road signs in total disbelief noting that i was close to my exit for the hotel.

I looked at the clock....4 hours had past. Even more strange? I still had a quarter tank of gas. I was so shakin up over this, i pulled over and cried and cried. I couldn't figure it out. Still can't.

Did i have a seizure? Did i sleep all the way there for 4 hours? Was i crazy? Or did i hit a time warp or bend? Was it a "beam me up scotty" moment?

The jury is still out.

I was on the Montel Williams Show with psychic Sylvia Brown a couple of times and she would tell you that you were indeed, "beamed up" or had an alien experience of some sort. I believe there are rips in time where we can not account for happenings in our day.time. Whether they are of alien nature or a rip in time is anybody's guess. I hope I am wrong, but I think this is how some people disappear. Thank God you were returned to your destination! The Planet would miss you!

Now how sweet is that!!!! Thank you!!!!

Well, whatever happened to me, left a lasting impression. Probably one of the reasons i am so tuned into time now. I always have to know what time it is and constantly checking it.

If it was aliens, they evidently didn't like me much cause i was back pretty quick. Pretty amazing i landed just a few exits from the one i needed at my destination. That was mighty nice of them. AND i saved about 30 bucks in gas!!!!

PrincessBelle, I have always believed in a space/time rift and the reason I do is because sometimes I think I use it myself. Trust me, there are times that I shave travel times down to what would not be possible unless I was speeding excessively.

Ok, I will share this even though I do not find it creepy. But it could be viewed that way by others.

I was once very close to someone who had powers beyond what I had ever imagined-one of the things she would tell me about was astral projection. One night, she and I were talking via IM to text. I was curled up and comfy in bed when something in my room fell. The noise was very loud, pretty close to me and I was absolutely petrified. I did not want to get up to turn the light on but, of course, I did. There was nothing; everything was in place and there was no reason for a noise to have happened. The very next message I get from her is that she is sorry, to not be scared but that she hit something in the dark when she came to visit. I did not have time to tell her what had happened. And, her telling me that she was the cause was enough to calm me down. I was used to to "odd happenings" since she and I had become close even though this particular thing was new.

I know it sounds made up but I am telling the honest truth about it all. And even more so, there is so much more I could tell.

Back in the day when I was around 25 years old and important to note I was still drinking, this gorgeous hot femme I had become aquainted with earlier in the evening came out of her bathroom into her bedroom wearing a ... well it was what I strap on just before sex.

Now back to the story ... we had been having a lot of foreplay before she went into her bathroom. I was experiencing much difficulty trying to discreetly aroll around to the top. Gang, I felt as though I was engaged in a wrestling match. When she walked out of the bathroom and I saw she was wearing wanky at full upward tilt attention, it skeerrd me so badly ... my little friend , swriveled
eled up and laid low in my boxers. Skeered him too.

Creeped me out!
Scared this stone butch right on into 12 step recovery.

There is nothing wrong with a femme wearing a strappie. For me, on the other hand, it is something I have no desire participate in.

I have done journey work in our drumming circle, lead by my favourite Shaman for years. I think it was my second time there and we were doing partner journeys. This is where you go to the spirit world for/of the partner you are working with. It makes no sense to you, you just come back with the message that they need.
The girl I was working with, I had never met before this night. I came back with a message that made sense to her, not me. She came back in tears and apologizing and tells me word for word an event that had happened to me and a message. She thought she had made it all up as it was so awful and she thought I would be upset. It was that one event that instilled faith in me. I studied under that Shaman for about 8 years. It was so powerful.

I have reported this, and I have been told not to report and kick ass, but I can't help it. Have you lost your ever loving mind? I don't care HOW creeped out you personally are by femme cock, but how dare you post your disgust about it on a public site. Posting on this thread, and phrasing it as you did, almost compares it to something out of a horror movie. DO you KNOW how homophobic and sexist that is? Are you AWARE that there are a number of femmes who strap on this site?

Who are you to tell femmes on this site that others are creeped out by their sexual desires? I do not care what your personal preferences are. But no femme who straps needs to be reminded that a certain number of heteronormative cretins think that her desire is disgusting and frightening, so out of the norm that it counts as creepy.

KEEP IT TO YOURSELF!!!!!!

I am not a member of your "gang." I do not care that you couldn't get on top when you were too young and too clueless to talk to your date. I do not want the nudge nudge, back slapping crap that you clearly feel will be well-received here. Save it for your offline friends who enjoy that.

I do not need to be reminded that these kinds of attitudes exist. You want to talk about being creeped out -- I was. By your post.

Oh i just thought of another one. Like many of you i have tons of things that were really strange happen to me.

First i want to say i mean no disrespect and if i mess up on the usage of proper words for Wicca, i humbly apologize. This is how i remember it....

My ex, many years ago, not on this site, was a Wicca and i found it all quite interesting but never really got into it.

Anyway, one hallows eve there was a Wicca ceremony held near where i live, in Townsend. I decided to go, honestly because it was Halloween and i thought it would be scary and also, it was an open ceremony and welcomed non Wiccan people.

So we get there and my partner at the time, put a black cape on and joined her coven at the bottom of this hill. At the top of the hill were about 20 people that clearly didn't have a clue what was going to happen, including myself, so i felt very comfortable.

The ceremony started as some of the group that were part of the Wiccan started separating and facing North, South, East and West. It was very beautiful and they were chanting and their gowns flowing. It was so peaceful and we non Wicca were on top of the hill nearby sorta clumped up together in awe.

Within the chanting they would name names of who the spiritual person for each direction and then they would take a moment of silence. When they got to one of them, it was the one called Diana, something strange occurred.

There was this amazing breeze. It wasn't wind and it's hard to explain. It was light, not like a "knock you down wind". It's like the only thing that felt pressure was our hair and mine was up high in the air in that breeze. It was cool, it was refreshing and for lack of a better term, it felt like pure love.

The crowd in the field and on our little non member hill stood silent after it subsided. You could have heard a pin drop.

The Mother Wicca (for lack of a better term) or leader, that stood in the middle of the coven, started slowly moving up the hill toward us. No one else moved. Not one single person.

Then, she came to our little group and walked RIGHT UP TO ME. At this point i was crying. I don't know how i knew, but i KNEW she was coming to me. She kissed my hand. She said "Diane is eager for you to come home to her. That wind was a kiss for you". She turned and walked away back down the hill to the coven. I froze in place and continued to cry. It wasn't embarrassed tears, or scared tears, no other way to describe it other than peaceful, heartfelt tears.

While at the event, i wasn't scared. Afterwards i sorta became scared. I have never been back. There is definitely something interesting about Wicca. I adore them and even though i am not a member, i feel a part of them in some way.

And yet...another event in my life i will never forget.

omg..... I wasn't even going to share my very similar story.....everyone I have told about it thought I was a freak....my own brother included...here it is:

I was hiking at a favorite hiking spot here in Mass....There are 2 main paths that you have to take to get to other paths. I was on the one I traversed most often, and had done a good loop and was heading back to my car. I was on the trail I had hiked DOZENS of times....when I came upon a trail I NEVER HAD SEEN.... :|I could tell it went in the direction of the reservoir which was ( if memory serves) east of where i was at that time....I knew how to get to my car from there so I decided to take the "new trail" since I was just bewildered at it's very existence!!

So...I'm hiking and hiking for a good 20 minutes... and looking around to see the new sights.....and I suddenly came upon a thicket of bushes....and when I pushed through them.... I was suddenly BACK on the main trail I had been on...but further along. To give this proper perspective I would have to draw a map. Suffice it to say... I was hiking east for at least 20 min...then ended up in a south easterly position.....at least 2 miles away from where I went in...Hard to explain....but it wasn't physically feasible.. I'm NOT an inexperienced hiker that just got turned around.

Things like that happened frequently there, come to think of it. I would take one trail to another and arrive at a destination, then try to do the same thing over again and never get back to where I got in the first place :| I think it was an enchanted place..... I had a hard time hiking there after that....But it was an experience and that's what life is all about....

I will have to post again another time about my ghost encounters.... I've been fortunate to have nothing but good experiences with them.... :)

This stuff is so cool. I'm the person that always wanted something like this to happen to me, but the closest thing that has ever happened to me is that I have zoned out while driving.

I do not recommend that, kids!

It doesn't really happen anymore, but it would happen in FL all the time. I don't know if just knew the routes so well or what, but I'd be driving along and then BAM! I'm a minute from my destination and I have no memory of the past 10, 20, 40 minutes. None. It actually started to worry me quite a bit, because I didn't know what happened during that time and whether I was a good driver or if did some dangerous driving or fell asleep or if I hurt anyone or anything. That part of it was really scary....the not knowing.

A long long long time ago - like nearly 30 years my best friend and I were smoking a joint in her Mom's car. Her Mom had taken the keys with her so they weren't even in the car. As we were smoking all of the sudden a song came on the radio, I believe it was The Pointer Sisters... it said... "I'm so excited!" music and all and then it stopped. Nothing lit up on the dash, radio or anything else, just that verse from the song. We never looked at each other, she said "did you hear that?" I said "Mmhmmmm". She said, "ready to go in?" I said "Mmhmmmm". We weren't really scared by it or that stoned, but it was kindly weird lol

I've had that happen to me one time Gemme. I lost about 45 minutes of driving from Cookville to Harriman (Tennessee). Which meant I drove down Roan Mountain sleep driving. It's scary enough that I was sleep driving on I-40 but Roan Mtn is a dangerous curvy part of I-40. And like you said, was I a good driver or a dangerous one? Freaked me out and woke me the heck up fast!

Okay, I've got another one. This happened when my cousin and I were children. We were playing in the front room by the fireplace. The fireplace wasn't lit and it was somewhere around mid-afternoon. Out of nowhere, this booming whooshing roar came from what sounded like the fireplace. We were both 8 and 6 respectively so it freaked us out. We screamed, got up, and ran into the den to tell my aunt what happened. She wasn't there. Scared to death, we ran all over the house screaming our heads off trying to find her mom.

Finally, we went back into the den. My aunt had been there the whole time and never heard us screaming (impossible). Now that I think back on that memory, I recall no sound. Nothing but our screaming and footsteps. No birds. No traffic outside. Nothing. It was this weird silence and I only noticed it was gone when we got back into the den and sound started again, like somebody had pulled earplugs out of my ears.

I think we slipped in and out of a time vortex. I have no idea what the roaring sound could have been but I'm sure it had something to do with the time slippage.

Weird.

Again, years ago, different ex. We were having dinner at a really nice restaurant. There was a salad bowl between us. Clear glass. We're just talking when out of nowhere, straight down a white/clear orb slams into the middle of the salad and shatter the bowl and sends salad flying everywhere. There was no further sign of anything in the bowl, just shards of glass and salad. No ball, or lightbulb, or rock, or anything. We both saw the orb. I still don't know what the heck it was or why it was pissed at us. LOL

Something happened TODAY that was kind of cool, actually.

It was nearing lunch time and I closed the gate after allowing one customer in. The customer came into the office and we talked for a minute and he paid. As he was leaving, I glanced out the window and saw a beach ball resting against the gate. I inquired if it was the customer's and he said no and that it had been rolling down the middle of the parking lot (my property is very long and narrow) while he was driving in.

I had customers on the property that run a thrift store and so I thought that it must be theirs. No one else but the two customers had come in or out for more than an hour. So, I went down to them and yelled at them to keep their balls to theirselves from now on (we're good like that) and we all laughed and then the customer tells me that the ball is not theirs.

I asked them if anyone had driven past them and she said no, but she had seen the ball rolling past them earlier and thought that someone's kid had dropped it.

There was no one at the back of the property. I had just checked it less than 15 minutes prior to this exchange. There are no homes near my property. I'm in the middle of a field that has one commercial business next door (but I never see/hear anyone), railroad tracks several hundred feet behind me and nothing to the other side. I'm surrounded by razor wire.

So, this blow up beach ball just materialized, apparently, since no one went in and no one went out and it did not belong to the two customers that did go in and out. There was no one on the camera surveillance and the ball rolls from around the side of a building that has a blind spot.

At first, I thought "Kewl!" and then I thought "I've got to post this!" and then I thought "F*ck!" cuz at that point it started to remind me of the movie IT and instead of balloons with blood, there was an air-filled beach ball.

:|

gulp

Although, I still say it's kind of cool. As long as Tim Curry stays the Hell away.

omg..the first time I heard a fisher cat I was living on a 200 acre farm up in New England...and was all by myself that night. I read ALOT of serial killer books and had just found out there was a serial killer in that area who had not been caught. It sounded just like a woman being tortured out in the woods! When I was told about the fisher cat, I was SURE I was having my leg pulled but sure enough, they existed. The Fisher Cats remained scary as hell to me...but at least they were just weasels and not a serial killer.

i like this thread..and i will definitely be posting here when i have more time. i have some truly spooky stories....and btw...if the sounds weren't an owl, try listening to the mating call of a fishercat....it sounds just like a woman screaming...scary....otherwise i would say it had to be bigfoot...lol

Ironically, I can actually explain this. It is a form of self-hypnosis. One of my lifestyle mentors is trained in hypnosis and anytime he teaches a class, he used this as a point of reference that everyone can relate to. You are not asleep, but it can be dangerous so please be careful?

Well, that certainly seems more likely than sleep driving. It would happen when I was wide awake and when I snapped to, I wasn't groggy, so the sleep thing never quite sat right with me.

The problem is, when it does happen, I don't know until it's over and I have absolutely no recollection of anything that happened between point A and B.

I'll try to think careful thoughts when driving. :vigil:

LOL! I just came back in here for the first time since I posted a funny story ... Several people sent me private comments thought it was funny too. Several of these comments to me were made by femmes.

I have no desire to continue any more dialog with anyone who may have ruffled feathers ... too time consuming - I mean all the back and forth.

Peace to all!

When I was about 21ish my best friend and I had went to a hole in the wall country bar to listen to the band. I knew the drummer and we got free beer. We got a table and were sipping on beer when this man walks up and asks if he can join us. He was dressed in an expensive suit, had the sparkling white smile, nice watch, shoes... my friend almost fell over herself. He sat down and I was immediately uneasy. It felt like every word coming out of his mouth was stinging my skin. He said he was in town on business and was staying at the such and such hotel. He kept making direct eye contact and trying to hold my gaze. It felt like he was trying to somehow hypnotize me. The bartender hollered last call and the waitresses were bussing the tables. He excused himself to the restroom which I had a direct view of and watched him go in. About ten minutes later we got up to leave as they were closing and he still had not came out. I was already creeped out by him, so I told the waitress he had went in and hadnt came out. I didnt want him attacking her or another waitress after they locked up. She sent a bouncer in and he came out and shook his head. I went in myself and there were no windows... there was no way out. I watched him go in and never come out....

dun, dun, duuuuuunnnn!

When I was about 13, my uncle bought this big old triple decker by the Connecticut River. It needed lots of work and what not. I guess to start out I need to be at the beginning....
He was taking a bunch of us through the house, showing us the first 2 floors which were empty. We were on the 2nd floor going out the front door to see the attic apartment. When he opened the door I felt this HUGE gust of wind pass through it and around the group of us...my hair didn't move though...and no one else felt it. That was my sign....
After we moved in, we got the place fixed up: painted new carpet in the bedrooms etc. So within a few months, things started happening. First off, nearly every night I would feel "someone" sit down on the edge of my bed. At first I thought it was my hefty Maine coon cat....but soon realized...it wasn't him....lol Along with the feeling of the bed depressing right in that spot, I would hear this very regular breathing...coming from the corner closest to my bed. You should understand that I was raised not to fear the dead...we are Irish....lol So after a few times this became my normal nightly routine. The strange thing is, my mom would come in to say goodnight and I would tell her about the breathing and she could never hear it! (There was ONE TIME she did hear it coming from the rocking chair in her room....that was the only time)
Im thinking this will be a series of posts about this house because there were OODLES of experiences there...it was very interesting to say the least. We spent about 6 years living there....all good things.... :)

omg..the first time I heard a fisher cat I was living on a 200 acre farm up in New England...and was all by myself that night.

Fisher cats are down right skeery.... My daughter used to take riding lessons at a small farm that abutted the woods. The owner of the farm had to put in an extra electrical wire low to the ground because the fisher cats were attacking the horses...they have NO FEAR.... I have only seen them crossing streets at night, but my youngest daughter had a close call with one while we were geocaching one day. She had tired of looking for the cache and we were headed back to the car. I was looking in one last spot and she took our dog, Matty back to the car with her....when I got there she was in the car doors locked....lol When I got in she told me this strange animal had been by the stream when she went by and had growled at her.....she tried to describe it but it didn't look like anything she had seen. I showed her a picture of a fisher cat and she said that was what she saw. It's rare to see them close up....
And yes they sound JUST LIKE a woman screaming.... I was at my sister's house one night and we heard it and we thought we should call the cops! My brother in law has been a country boy his entire life and told us what it was....she lost 2 cats to the fisher cats while living there :( They are the only predator of porcupines as well.....

With all this talk of fisher cats y'all piqued my curiosity and I googled them. Very 'interesting' sounds they make. I think I would have thought they were owls if I heard them at night.

This is just too messed up ..got up this morning and everything was as normal as things can be for me...when walking past my bed I noticed the 4 charms I wear on a chain around my neck sitting in a little pile on my bed but nowhere near my pillow. Just sitting like I'd placed them there...no chain, just the charms - my Hamsa, Star of David, Rose Quartz point and Bronzite pendant. I looked everywhere for the chain, thinking it had broken and was in the bed or on the floor. Can't find it anywhere.

Put the charms on another chain and when I was in the kitchen making coffee the Bronzite hit the floor then the Star of David. Chain didn't break and the jump rings are completely closed.

No idea what's happening...Mercury? Mom or another spirit having a little fun with me this morning? Or just one of those totally weird, creepy and unexplainable things...Not taking any chances I've lit enough sage and incense to nearly set off the smoke detector. Yep, never a dull moment around here...lol

It may be time to stop wearing them for a while. I had that happen with an amethyst pendent I used to wear all the time. It just started disappearing off my neck, no explanation how. Chain never broke, pendent wasn't broken. It was mentioned by my Shaman to cleanse it and stop wearing it. I couldn't wear or carry amethyst for about a year and then never had a problem with it again. I can't remember why she said it was a problem for me at the time.

My mother had an odd thing happen at her current house once. She came home to find her underwear drawer wide open and her panties strewn around the bed in a semi-circle. Her perfume bottles had been obviously touched too. At the time, she had an enormous bull mastiff. He was an AMAZING watch dog. He wouldn't even let my brother...whom he knew well...come in through a window when he forgot his key....
The day this happened, the door was locked, there were no signs of anyone getting in through a window. She made a police report and they dusted the perfume bottles but they didnt find anything....

Know those depictions of animal matches....like if a bull shark and a tiger fought, who would win?....kind of thing?

Now, I'm wondering what would best the other, a Fisher cat or a honey badger?

I've posted this story once before a while back, but I thought I'd share it again.

Back in the day, a few friends of mine and I decided to spend a night drinking and attempting to reach new heights of "consciousness".

I don't condone drinking and driving, but my best friend was a better driver under the influence than sober. Besides the fact we were young, stupid and didn't care to know better. She took the wheel and we proceeded to party on. Keep in mind, there were four of us.

We were driving around this area of Jersey City by the Colgate factory by the waterfront. At night, this place is dark, deserted and creepy in itself. This was the area where most people who wanted to get their party on would go pretty much undisturbed.

As we are driving around laughing and goofing off, we see three children - one taller boy and possibly two girls running from the factory's basement steps across the road and behind some other buildings. We ALL saw this at the same time. We drove around to look for them because it was really late at night and there was no reason why kids should be out that late - but we couldn't find them. As we drove back around the block, we all saw the shadows of these kids running from one side of the building across the street behind another. We drove around again, and found nothing. The interesting thing I remember about these kids was how they were dressed. It was not fashioned to recent times. The boy had on an old fashioned kind of hat and clothes that were reminiscent of earlier times. I started to feel as if we were witnessing ghosts that have been wandering this area for a very, very long time. What was even creepier was that we heard children's laughter. Faint, but identifiable.

We drove around and could not find these kids. It got to a point where we were so creeped out by this event, we were not about to get out of the car and further investigate. We eventually got the hell out of there and took our party elsewhere.

One might say that this could have been a suggestive hallucination, especially since we were under the influence. But .... it wasn't. We all saw this at the same time and even shouted out a "did you see that?" at basically the same time. It wasn't like one made a suggestion and the others followed. We talked about this for a long time afterwards.

I am a woman of logic and reason. But I am also a believer in the strange and unexplained. If I can't find any logical explanation to a given situation, I willingly concede - and this was one of those times.

The morning of Saturday May 21, 1983, I was sitting on my front porch steps enjoying the Springtime. All I saw out were a group of little girls doing something way down at the end of the block. I have never seen them before, so, I thought they were just visiting someone who lived there. Suddenly these beautiful little girls came to where I was sitting, and without even a word spoken, started running around, picking flowers nearby, and silently giving them to me. Everytime they returned with more flowers, I softly smiled, and thanked them, but was wondering why they were doing this for me, and not saying anything. It was surreal. Then, I got "The Call", and my good father died in an ER, totally unexpectently, a couple of hours later. I left, and after I returned, I never saw those beautiful little girls at the end of the block again. I will always wonder how those little girls knew my father was going to die so suddenly, silently, giving me all those freshly picked flowers, for his funeral.

:vigil:

It's called road hypnosis and it can be dangerous as hell. Need to keep your eyes moving --look at your mirrors at the scenery anything for a quick glance--just so you are not just staring at the road constantly.

This ranks pretty high on my creep factor list.

When I was little I used to put lady bugs in my naval and hang on to them for a while before letting them go. My little brother
loved that I did that. He didn't have a navel, the cord was cut to short so they just stitched it shut. It looked like he had a smile there.

Many years later in the middle of October up in northern Michigan he lay on life support.
When they shut off all the machines I left the hospital and went to my moms house. I lived in Chicago at the time and was going to stay for a day or so. When I opened the door the whole ceiling was covered in lady bugs, swarms of them. Normally you wouldn't see even one in northern Michigan mid October. That wasn't as creepy as what would happen in the days to follow.

I didn't go to the funeral, I couldn't deal. I went back to Chicago to this huge house I was sitting for the winter. I was watching their doberman too. This dog was so mean it attacked me every time I came in the door. After I got back that all changed. The dog would sit in the middle of the living room looking up at nothing then start whining and go hide under some piece of furniture. Or it would bark at the corner or ceiling. Chairs would rock on their own. Then one night while I was getting ready to fall alseep someone sat down on the edge of my bed next to my mid section. It was a lot of weight, it made the mattress sink down and pulled me in that direction. I was alone in the house. For a minute I was so paralized I couldn't move. My heart was racing and almost beating out of my chest. I was so freaked out but finally reached over and turned on the light. Nothing there.

I live in a house now where a lady overdosed and died. I turn off a light it's back on when I return. I close a door it's open when I return. I've heard someone whisper really close to my ear in the middle of the night. Twice now I've been shoved in my sleep. Not like to hurt me but to jolt me awake. It works.

I don't care for the supernatural. I don't want to see dead people. These things creep me out more than anything else I can come up with in my mind.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh this is so cool and i totally believe it 100%. I have had so many, many things happen that were really strange, in my nursing career.

When i first became a nurse, i worked nights in the hospital on a very hard (meaning lots of death) floor. One night, we were at the nurses station charting and another nurse, Marian, said she was going to make rounds and check on her patients in the front rooms 1-15 and asked if i wanted her to check on my rooms which were 15-30. Which was great. At night most patients slept so we would just poke our head in and check on them every 30 minutes or so. No visitors were allowed on the floor past 10.

When she came back she said almost all were asleep in bed. She went on to say that room number 23 was awake and standing up by the window. All at once i had a cold chill run up my spine and i froze. Room 23. Room 23. I said to Marian..."Couldn't be. It must have been another patient in his room" She said "No, it was him, All other patients are in their rooms in bed, i checked. It was a man with a long beard and dark hair." She was describing him to a T, well almost.....

As if in slow motion and holding each others hand, we both walked back down the hall to room 23.

There he was, long beard, dark hair laying in the bed.

Marian said "That is him, i saw him standing over there, just minutes ago". We walked to him and found that he had just passed away.

The thing was.....Room 23 was a paraplegic. Car wreck, over 20 years prior. I believe when he passed, he did so standing.

It makes me sad to watch the fox stumble around....don't think the poor baby made it.

ummm Is it weird that I can tell when someone is going to die? Usually a couple of days before, I just "know". And not just people that are at death's door. I've known for my aunt, my Dad, two dogs, one hamster, and 3 babies at the hospital.

Another memory from the triple decker house.....

My uncle was renovating the 1st and 3rd floors and we were living on the 2nd.....This took a while and we were the only ones in the house for months.

On MANY a night I would hear a baby crying upstairs. I told my mother ( I was a teenager at the time) and even though I could hear it she could not....
Upon redoing the plumbing upstairs, my uncle found an old baby spoon in the drain. He gave it to my mother for her spoon collection. I think she had a glimmer of believing me at that point....

The upstairs (attic) apartment seems to have been the central location for the haunting. After the house was finished, my aunt moved into the attic apartment. She was gone a lot so we would take care of her cat and water her plants etc. One more than one occasion, we heard someone walking up there when we knew she wasn't home....my mother and I would go up the front stairs together...she had a key...to go see who was in the house. Each time there was no one there. We even checked a little hidy hole that was behind the pantry. It went into the crawl space behind. We looked under beds in closets in the tub you name it! No one to be found. Finally, when it happened again, my mother and I went up the 2 separate stair cases at the same time. Same result...We also saw from outside lights that were on and when my mother went in to check the house the light was off and the house was empty.

I bought my home three years ago in a probate sale. The lady who owned it and passed away was the original owner from 1958 until 2008 (when she died). When I bought it, nothing was stated that she died in the house (I know if she did, they are legally responsible for telling me and nothing was disclosed so I am assuming she died elsewhere).

I have never had any issues in the house. I have had two roommates who never complained of anything, so I never have had any reason to believe that there as any activity in the house, lol.

I recently got a new roommate. She moved in on October 30, so it hasn't been that long. I came home really late one night, and she and her girlfriend were in the kitchen and the house reeked of sage *cough cough*. I figured they were smoking pot in the house and were trying to cover it up. I really don't care so I didn't ask what was going on.

The next day, we were talking and she asked me if I had ever experienced any "weirdness" in the house. I said, no.... Why? She the first day she moved in, she hung a light from the ceiling. When she came home, the light was shattered all over the floor, which was impossible since it as secured tightly. She also said that night the house reeked, they had done a "cleansing" because her motorcycle helmet had been kicked across the room.

So, I start freaking thinking wtf?? Why now? I never had any issues and this and going to start my paranoia about a freaking angry ghost in my house. Ugh. Maybe everything has an explanation behind it. I don't know how a motorcycle helmet gets kicked across the room, maybe she was high, who knows.

So last night we are all sitting watching TV and talking. We hear this really weird noise in the kitchen and a bang. We look, and there was a rug, which was securely resting on the wall and had been for several days with no issues, fell over and slammed on the floor. Huh? My roommate looks at me and says, "see!?"

dammit!

Also, one more story...

My grandmother passed away June 30th of this year. When I got the call that she was sick, I was making plans to go up to see her (5 hour drive away). My family didn't tell me the extent of how sick she was, or I would have left days before. She was in hospice at home, so we knew she was going to die eventually but didn't expect it to happen so fast.

So, the night before I was going to leave, I was really struggling with the fact that I didn't leave that night. When I went to sleep, my grandmother came to me in a dream and told me something to the effect of "I will be ok" (I can't remember exactly, but I remember sitting with her and looking at her and feeling a sense of calm). That morning, I packed my stuff and as soon as I pulled out of my driveway, my cousin called me to tell me she passed.

I will never forget that, and I still get extremely emotional when I think about it. But, at the same time I feel lucky because I was able to "talk" with her before she died. It gave me some closure since I wasn't there with her.

One of my earliest memories of what's become 'normal life' to me now, was when I was possibly around 6 or 7, I had been taken for a picnic by my aunt and 'uncle', her boyfriend, it was up a valley near where I first lived as a child, a place called the Coquet Valley, ( http://www.visitalnwick.org.uk/photos/scenic/coquet-valley.htm in case anyone wants to know where I mean) my family has been going there for years as we used to own a big old house up near there. My uncle had brought a friends red irish setter with him, while my aunt got the picnic ready, I was standing looking down the valley at my uncle and the dog playing on the second curve of an s bend, I was standing on the first, I happened to look down at the river right in front of me, there was this little boy in ragged clothes standing on a little tussock of grass that had washed downriver, I was about to say hello when my aunt called to me that the picnic was ready, I turned my head and called back saying I was coming back, when I turned back to the river to say bye to the little boy, he was gone. It could only have been seconds between turning away and turning back.
I can still picture him to this day, I strongly believe I experienced a time-slip that day, because neither my aunt or uncle saw him, but he most definitely saw me, I often wonder what he thought when he saw this girl in strange clothing all those years ago when he was alive!

Not sure how this will come across, but I'll tell it anyway!
To explain, firstly, I am empathic, so I 'feel' other peoples emotions, the other side to it is I also 'hear' what people are thinking, which isn't normally pleasant as a lot of the time, people don't think the nicest of things while they speak social niceties ... I'm also able to see and hear things most people aren't aware of, but in this instance, that's irrelevant.
One day I was travelling on the bus to go to the nearest town to me, I'm disabled so I sit on the seats near the front, the thing is I don't 'look' disabled, so I get a lot of glares etc. This day, I sat down in the disabled seat, after about half an hour (it's a two hour journey) this woman got on, for starters she was one of those people who just look like they have a chip on each shoulder, not being judgemental here okay, because she just had to go and sit beside me, the entire journey all I could 'hear' was her bitching and moaning inside her head, mostly about me, I was 'too young' to be sitting in the seat, I was 'not disabled', I was 'a stupid young man who was rude for sitting in the disabled seats' I was 'fucking ignorant for listening to music' when I had headphones in and it was barely loud enough for me to hear, this went on and on for almost the entire journey, it got to the stage where I just wanted to turn to her and say "look lady, I didn't ask you to sit next to me, for starters, I AM disabled, you're not, I AM female, I AM not the ignorant one here, you are for passing judgement on me, now shut the fuck up and stop thinking this shit about me!"
Of course, I didn't and couldn't, if I had I think she would've been both horrified I could hear her and ready to have me committed!

Okay, I've got another one:

I had a roommate once for about 9 months. She was an annoying young girl who liked to drink, smoke pot, and have lots of boyfriends over. She never cleaned and I ended up having to pick up after her a lot. The great thing was, she was hardly ever home most of the time. A couple of months before she left though, she basically tried to move one of her boyfriends in and I put my foot down. She responded by packing up and leaving while I was on vacation. She left the apartment in shambles after what I can only imagine was a pretty wild party.

A week or so later, I woke up to take a shower and get ready for work and put my big red robe on the white bathroom door before I got in the shower. I got out of the shower and the first thing I noticed was the lack of robe. I'm not the most observant person but I always do the same thing every morning and I know I put it on the hook on that door. Not there. I'm like WTF?

I go into my bedroom and see if laying out on my bed and I never do that. I'm thinking "Okay, I must have done it." I'm getting dressed and I hear footsteps in the now-empty bedroom she'd occupied. I froze. All I had on was a bra and panties but I was so pissed that one of her friends may be in that room, I just walked in there to confront them. Nobody there. I go back into my bedroom and swear I hear somebody leaving and going down the stairs.

I ended up getting the locks changed, keeping a can of pepper spray under my pillow at night, and saging the place to get the negative energy out because more strange things kept happening after that day. I remember doing the saging and feeling something 'pushing' back with its own energy when I tried saging the staircase toward the basement. It was really scary but I think I got most of the negative energy out because I didn't have anything major happen afterwards. I don't know what that girl left in my apartment but DAMN!

I'm really glad you got rid of that, sounds like that girl was dragging along far more negativity than was good for her or anyone around her.
Nobody needs people like that in their lives, especially not you!

I was driving along a back road one day...I was all alone....and suddenly out of the corner of my eye...I saw a girl sitting in my passenger seat... I was really taken aback...she was so definitely THERE and I couldn't remember having a passenger! She was just looking out the window and seemed to be enjoying the ride...never even looked at me once...she was young, short brown hair...modern (late 90s) dress...
when I turned my head to really look at her she was gone....and a few miles down the road there was a white cross on the side of the road where 4 teenagers had died in an alcohol related accident. My sister was in their class at school so I did ask her if the girl resembled either of the two who had passed in the accident....but it doesn't seem she was either of them.....

for my friend Massive...

I too am empathetic....I have had it proven to me time and again. Both times my best friend went into labor I knew it and felt it to some degree....

and I've walked in my mother's house before and felt where she hurt....her back...once I knew she had strep before she said a word....I felt it so strongly...

being in healthcare it;s come in handy.... when I worked for the dept of mental retardation I had a non verbal client who had taken a fall. Every time I went near her I felt pain in my nose...I told the nurses I thought she had broken her nose but there was no sign of it....no swelling bleeding nothing. They couldn't give her anything for pain without a drs order of course....
so a dr came to our building one day and I said 'OH you must be here for so and so....' and he wasn't...but he said well whats going on with so and so and I made up some story about her touching her face and seeming to be in pain...etc...He ordered xrays that day and her nose was broken after all. Nothing much could be done about it....but she at least got
something for the pain....still kills me to think she went days like that....(f)

Thank you cinn, I know exactly where you're coming from, I always know when I'm going to get bad news, I keep getting my Mums answer phone because she's trying to call me at the same time, when I was working security I never ended up where there was trouble, I always found myself just happening to walk a different route, by the time I got to where something had happened, the people were gone. I think in a way we're luckier than those who don't have this, it's like an intuition that we're aware of, you know?

I DO know....twice while I have been driving I have had premonitions of animals going out into the road in front of me...once a dog....and I slammed on my brakes as soon as I had the vision and sure enough seconds later the dog ran out....another time I was driving...too fast as usual...lol and this voice in my head said CLEAR AS DAY....if you don't slow down you will be very sad....SO I slowed down of course....and as i was coming around a curve there was a mama partridge and her brood crossing the road...I surely would;ve hit them had I NOT slowed down....

theres numerous other things....dreams that came to pass...still happens on occasion...but i told god once that i either wanted the door opened fully or closed completely. I SO hate not knowing which dreams to listen to...I never felt I had control over it...now I get it less often....it's there when I need it thats all that matters....its a family gift/curse....lol and it did tell me what days i would be in labor on....so i planned for it...lol

I've never ever been able to block it completely, ever, although I've really wanted to at times, I now have to resort to wearing headphones and listening to music whenever I go out in public by myself, and even then I get my family making sarcastic comments about the silly things I do when I'm out lol

this thread is so cool! anyway..over my life...(probably about a 20 year period of time), i would have dreams of witnessing a plane crash...and with in 24 hours, there really would be a major plane crash in somewhere in the US..

i always wanted to call someone to warn them...but WHO? i never knew which airline or where the plane was headed...just that a plane would crash...and i figured if i called 911 and reported that there was going to be a plane crash with in 24 hours..it probably wouldn't go well for ME...

i dreamed about a plane that crashed in a neighborhood somewhere in CA about 20-25 years ago...i dreamed about the plane that crashed into the patomic...and several others....

it was pretty much the same dream every time.. ...i'd see the plane coming down...but i'd never see it crash...it would always be in the distance... behind a hill or trees or something...and as i hurried to get to the crash sight...i would be angry/upset that i didn't have my camera with me...

the last crash dream...it was the same dream for me...see the crash in the distance..don't have my camera...yada...yada...yada... THIS time though i did something i'd never done before...i told someone that there was going to be a plane crash with in 24 hours...and told them about the dreams...(i'd never told anyone before and the people i told this time were my gramma, my mom and my aunt...all of us were at grammas)...

the crash i had dreamed about turned out to be flight 255 out of detroit...they crashed on I-94 during take off...there was one survivor...a little girl...i live in ann arbor, about 40 minutes to where the plane crashed...i've not had another dream since...and i gotta tell ya...i'm ok with that!..

ummm Is it weird that I can tell when someone is going to die? Usually a couple of days before, I just "know". And not just people that are at death's door. I've known for my aunt, my Dad, two dogs, one hamster, and 3 babies at the hospital.

I once had a dream about a little girl who died. She was blonde and wearing pink. About 2-3 months later, my (now ex) hubby's cousin died.

Although my age, she always spoke in a voice that sounded like a little girl. She was blonde and when they buried her, she was wearing pink pajamas.

In 2006, I was still living in Northern Ireland. Construction of my new house had been delayed by a few months so, between homes, I had to rent an apartment for a short period.

I decided on an apartment in Belfast's city centre - for purely convenient reasons as it was close to my office. Apartment building, newly completed, was very dark and functional.

I buy memorabilia and one day I made a purchase at auction of a large 1950s / 1960s suitcase that belonged to famous sportsman who had died years previously. The suitcase was packed full of his personal papers (marriage certificate, legal agreements, hundreds of family photos, official documentation and so on).

I received the suitcase one evening and, after a quick scan and realising there were too many items in it to assess, decided to put it away safely until I had more time at the weekend.

The next evening I returned from work to find the suitcase in the middle of the main room, open and many papers scattered across the room. Nothing appeared missing and certainly nothing else in the apartment appeared to have been disturbed in anyway. Also, no signs whatsoever of a break-in.

I didn't have any other direct experiences in the apartment (stayed there maybe three to four months in total), although the apartment was incredibly dark, even in daylight and I sometimes thought I saw shadows. This was probably just lighting issues but added to my general sense of unease.

Tried to do some research and was told by some local historians that the apartment was on the site of a match factory that burnt down in the 1800s, killing numerous children who had been working there. Not categorically certain that was accurate nor, even if it was, that there was a connection between the two but added an interesting layer to it.

So last night I woke up about 3AM, and padded around the house for a half hour. I get insomnia, but this wasn't too bad, just a little blip. I was asleep by 4.

Around 5AM, I woke up with the bedroom door cracked about 2 inches. I had left a hall light on, and the light beam was shining directly into my eyes, but didn't fall anywhere else because of the opening of the crack in the door and the placement of the hall light. It was like waking up to find myself in Edgar Allen Poe's Tell-Tale Heart. Ack.

I knew I had closed the bedroom door (I always do), and besides, I had fallen asleep with my face to the door, and there's no way I could have fallen to sleep with that direct beam in my eyes. I was a bit weirded out by this, but still groggy and didn't want to endanger the possibility of more sleep by getting up to turn of the hall light and close the door...so I rolled over instead, and was soon back to sleep.

Three hours later, I woke up. The door was closed.

Freaky.

This isn't really creepy, but it still gives me chills to think back on.

:::Buffalo, New York: sometime in the early 90's: I was 17 years old:::

My very first car was a beat to hell 1982 Nissan Sentra that I bought from a co-worker for $700. It looked like someone had opened-fire on the driver's side door, it had rust from front to back, and the engine looked like someone had thrown a lit match under the hood and walked away.

BUT!!! It ran!! The first winter I owned it I quickly realized that Bertha (the name I gave her) did NOT like the cold. The carburetor would freeze any time the temperature dipped under 30 degrees, and I'd have to drag a hair dryer out to the garage and warm it up before she'd start. The biggest problem was the door locks would freeze open and so once I got inside I would have to bungee-cord the drivers side door (across my lap) to the passenger door. I hope that makes sense! Otherwise the doors would be flying open at random.

Anywho, on this particular day I was driving to work on the 400 and I started to make a right onto a frontage road when I hit a patch of black ice. Bertha began making a fierce left turn while I pumped the brakes and took my hands off the wheel (all the things you're supposed to do). All of the sudden the bungee cord snaps and I am literally falling out of the drivers' side door. I remember feeling like I was on a roller coaster, my belly flopping around while the rest of my body felt weightless. Just as I see the road below me, I was flung back inside my car into an upright position with what felt like an arm pinning me to the seat as Bertha slowed to a halt in the middle of the road (facing the wrong way, but heck, I was alive and not in the ditch!)

I remember sitting there looking at cars whizzing by in front of me, and all of the sudden I had the urge to scream. At that moment something whispered in my ear, "ssshhhhhhhhhhh" and I immediately calmed down. AND, get this, when I started my car back up the doors closed and stayed closed. I never had to use a bungee cord again!

Something powerful saved my tush that day!

Here's yet another "creepy thing" that happened to me. This one really weirded me out.

A little over ten years ago, I had bought a theta wave meditation CD. I turned off the lights in my bedroom, lit a candle, and settled in to listen. I put headphones over my ears and laid down flat on my rug. I was listening for a bit, feeling relaxed and drifting away when I felt myself sink into a deep, dark place. Not an evil place I don't think but "other" somehow. I remember talking with people I just knew were no longer living.

Then I sunk even further down and it wasn't a safe place anymore. I realized I was very aware of my bedroom. I could see it but I couldn't get out of my meditation to "get back to it." I started panicking. I couldn't move my arms or legs and I couldn't even yell out. (Not that anyone would have heard me, I lived alone.)

I remember I started praying and after what seemed like eternity, I felt a strong presence lift me up and we rushed upward at an impossible speed. I popped back into my body with a jolt (or at least that's what it felt like) and was suddenly able to move again.

I guess it could have been sleep paralysis but it had never happened to me before or since. Needless to say, I never used that meditation CD again!

My oldest brother passed away in May of 2010. When we were growing up he always messed with me. He couldn't walk by anyone without doing something to them. Either jabbing his finger into your side to make you jump, or flicking your ear or lifting up the back of the chair you were sitting on to make you feel like you were falling. He was forever pulling pranks on people too.
It was around his birthday so he was really on my mind all day. When I was cleaning the bathroom I was thinking I wonder what he is doing right now. I wonder what it is you do in heaven. How do you spend your time. Then I figured he was probably messing with someone , or ploting a prank to pull. Any way that night about a year ago, I was sitting here in my office on the computer and had been on the computer a few hours. Sitting quietly, when out of nowhere something shook my chair. It felt just like the way my brother used to lift up the back of the chair then set it down to make you feel like you were getting dumped out of it. It made me say out loud "What the hell was that"? Weird . I still have no idea what that was. Kinda cool in a way through.

Oh, I forgot to mention the light- it was daytime when I got up! But yes...the light was still on.

Maybe the door wasn't all the way closed when I went to bed and the heat going on and off made it move? Or maybe i walk in my sleep? Or maybe I'm really in the Tell-Tale Heart...

Tonight I'm locking the bedroom door.

I got caught up on the thread and some of the posts reminded me of things that have happened to me and/or my family....

Years ago...I believe I was pregnant for my youngest daughter.....

My mother had been having issues with her jeep. Her husband was mechanically inclined and fixed what he thought was wrong with it. Which was the battery as it kept draining. All was well with the car again and we took it to go shopping one night. We had Clarissa in the back, and my mother was driving. We got to the bottom of a big hill and went to take a left. We got halfway out on the country "highway" and the car stalled; completely dead. We knew that her side reflector on the driver side of the car was off since she had had a run in with a deer and the road has very few lights. And there's oddly no light there even though it's a corner....We sat there for panicked seconds/minutes. I was trying to decide if I should get the baby out of the car seat and we should get out of the car. We would surely be hit because people fly on that road....
My mother is trying everything to get the car started to no avail. And suddenly a car is speeding around the corner towards us on her side..and the baby's side....which lacks the reflector. I climbed in the back seat trying to get the baby out so we can get out of the car and suddenly the car just ROLLS backwards out of the road. It was a miracle and I have MANY MANY times stopped there since and stopped the car to see if it would roll...It's at the bottom of a hill and actually rolls DOWN....I can't explain it except that we had angels with us that day...... :praying:

I was in a serious car accident this summer. The drunk driver who hit me died at the scene. I believe I was knocked out on impact, it's hard to know conscious details of the accident.

However, I do remember looking down at the truck that hit me. I remember the driver standing beside his truck looking at his hands and feeling his face and then a look of complete shock and sadness come over his face. I remember seeing hands growing around him. I don't even know how to explain it. The hands then grew a body. The body became an Elderly Lady. I *heard* "George it's time to go" George says "I didn't know" Elderly Lady "we did". They just dissolved.

I then slammed back down into my body. I vaguely remember being cut out of my vehicle. Consciousness came and went.

I found out after the accident his name was George. (You have to find out these things when you have to sue and such.)

I will never see anything the same again. Ever.

I was not really a believer in anything before my accident. That too, has really changed. Nothing has been the same since, absolutely nothing.

The school from which I received my undergraduate degree is like some many that dot New England. Small, private, emphasis on liberal arts, ivy covered bricks and white columns. When I was there, it was already well over a century old.

My junior and senior years I was an R.A. The R.A. staff was required to be back on campus about a week before students returned from summer break, and it was our responsibility to renew first aid courses, do room inventories to ascertain that every room had the requisite furniture, etc. As you might imagine, as so often goes hand in hand with old places, there were stories about strange things happening on campus over the years. That first week of my senior year, I was going through the rooms on my hall, one by one, making sure there were beds, desks, bookcases. I think I had checked about half the rooms without incident. It was still daylight, the sun was shining brightly, but I confess it was a bit eerie simply because there were so few of us around at that time. I eventually made my way into one of the suites, a large living room with a bedroom on either side. The building, Academy Hall, had hardwood floors, pressed tin ceilings, great crown moldings. The windows were drafty in the winter and the old radiators clanged. I stepped into the first bedroom, saw that everything was in order, and stopped in the living room, using a bookcase as desk, to fill in my inventory sheet. My back was to the main door of the room and as I was writing I heard someone come in behind me. Not only did I hear the floor creak, but I heard the actual footfalls. I turned, fully expecting one of my fellow R.A.s to be standing there but no one was. Whoever, whatever had entered the room and stopped just behind me, but there was no one to be seen. I ran out so fast I didn't care if the other room even had a bed. The kid who would inhabit it could sleep in the closet as far as I was concerned!

I had a kind of creepy thing happen not too long ago. I work from home and I was sitting at my desk. My dog, Murphy, was sitting in his favorite chair to the right of my desk. Anyway, I heard thump, thump, thump. I looked at him and he was dead asleep but wagging his tail like crazy. So I picked up my cell phone and started shooting some video. As I was watching the screen on my phone, I saw what you will see in this video. Now keep in mind, he was asleep this whole time. It first appears once I readjust the camera and at about 40 secs into it, you won't see it anymore. I did nothing to make this happen. I was actually sitting perfectly still because I wanted him not to wake up. Anyway, enjoy!

My office is in a building that was built in 1893 as a hotel. At work yesterday, in addition to the usual footsteps, murmuring and the sounds of people on the stairs and doors opening/closing, I kept hearing a baby crying...I thought I was the only person in the entire building so I took a walk to check things out...turns out I was the only one there and the sound was coming from the bathroom next to my office.

Thanks for sharing this story. In my beliefs, someone comes from "the other side" to take you to the next. Whether that person goes to Heaven or Hell is up to that person's life. I have seen people cross over to both sides and it can be quite a dramatic sight for someone to pass. We also believe some people have the gift to be able to "see" these things and communicate to help people cross. Kind of like the show "Ghost Whisperer". My great aunt and I both have the gift. As I mentioned on another post, I was an invited guest on the Montel Williams show with psychic Sylvia Brown to talk about the gift of communicating with the dead and to answer questions from the audience. Ive learned we can learn alot from other people when they pass if you just "listen and believe".

There are a couple of orbs that zoom around. The last one goes from the right to the left. They are small, so keep your eyes peeled. I noticed them between the :25 and :40 marks.

I've had some spooky coincidences in my life.

I was visiting New York City before I moved here, back when I still lived in L.A. I had helped out a friend of a friend, a New Yorker, driven her around a lot when she was visiting L.A., and she said, If you ever come to New York, you can stay with me.

Of course I took her up on it. And I hoped to see an old friend from college while I was there. I got the old friend's address, and it wasn't only in the same part of town (Astoria), as the woman I was staying with, it was the apartment next door to hers.

I know there have been others, I'll see if I can remember them.

Ah, synchronicities. I've had plenty of those. I understand. Actually had one tonight. I got a negative impression about a certain person I've been on-again, off-again friends with based on feelings and energy I got from him. Something he'd been doing triggered me recently and I pretty much told him I saw him for what he was and he turned right around and told me in very blunt terms his impression of me and how much I'd hurt his feelings. All day I'd felt guilty for being so blunt and questioned my intuition and natural empathic abilities because of his response and the sick, drained feeling I had.

A couple of hours ago, I made a cup of Yogi tea and they always come with these positive quotes on the tag. Mine said, "Your intuition is your best friend." That was all the confirmation I needed for what I already knew! My doubts and that sick feeling vanished instantly.

In the past, not trusting my instincts about people has lead to some seriously disastrous results. I really should know better by now...

I wouldn't qualify this as empathic but more a gut feeling. Several years ago I worked in a factory and for a while I worked 3rd shift. Sometimes when I went out to the smoke shack to have a cigarette this security guard would be there smoking on his break. We spoke a few times and he seemed nice enough but something about him didn't set right with me, made my hackles go up, made me feel unsettled. I wasn't afraid as the smoke shack was just too public. It wasn't like he said anything unusual, out of the ordinary or off track, but something told me DANGER

Well time went on and I noticed after a while that I didn't see him anymore. So one night I had to go to the clinic in the factory [the factory was so large they staffed a nurse in the each of the big plants]. She was a very good friend of mine and we got to talking and I just so happened to bring up that I hadn't seen that guard in a while and my friend told me that he had been accused of molesting his granddaughter and that he had committed suicide just before his trial was set to begin!!! I was freaking out and I told her how he had made me feel. Crazy man!

Oh, I completely understand. Everybody has intuition and it's important to use it. I think in this day and age (I'm making myself sound so old lol!) people aren't taught to use their intuition. They're too distracted by everything else going on around them or by the media. When something tells you on a cellular level that you are not safe, you should listen. It's your spirit's way of protecting you from danger.

I totally believe in the afterlife, and this is because of my Nanna. She had a gift. (I've shared this before, but this was years ago on another site. Some of you might remember the story)

My mother's dad died young, leaving my Nanna to bring up four children.

After his death, sometimes she would wake up in the middle of the night to see him standing in her room. She would always find out the next day that a family member had passed, always around the time she saw him. It was like he was the one chosen to bring each family member home, and he would always drop in to see her on the way. She came to know that whenever she got a visit from him, one of the family had been called home.

She also would wake up in the middle of the night to see a little girl standing by the bed. We believe that this little girl was a child she had miscarried.

Nanna's eldest daughter, my Aunty Joy also has a "sense". She can tell when people are going to die. She says they get a "smell" about them. She told my Aunty Rae that she should say goodbye to her husband, because he was going to die soon (he had no terminal illnesses or anything that would make you expect it). I don't think Aunty Rae appreciated the advance notice, but the family did get to say goodbye and he got advance warning to get things in order, which I think is a bit of a rare privilege.

For the last week or so my Dad's half-sister has been on my mind and even in a couple of my dreams. She was much older than Dad and I'd only seen her twice in my life. So it was odd that this was happening. This evening I got an email from Dad telling me that she has passed away...

Exactly. We are taught from a young age NOT to listen to it because when we withdraw or recoil from someone, for whatever reason, it's "not nice" and "impolite" and "don't we want to be nice?"

If folks were taught to listen to their instincts, there is no telling what wonderful things we could experience!

I do different haunted tours every time I go to Savannah. On this one, we were going around one of the squares. The story was that some lady was hung from one of the trees there. The trees had some really cool spanish moss on them, so I just pointed my camera up into the trees to get the spanish moss. Later when I looked at the picture, it is covered in orbs. All over it. I took several pictures in this area, others had a few orbs. But this one was loaded, had maybe 8 or 9 of multiple sizes.

I was in Montreal, Canada back in 1998 and was looking in the window of a shop that had hand-blown glass items. There was a wind chime with a little mermaid on it that I immediately thought a friend that I worked with, Marion, would really like.

When I went and paid for it, the woman behind the counter said it was one of a kind. I kinda rolled my eyes and was like "whatever", thinking it was probably mass produced somewhere and she was just saying that.

When I got back home and arrived back to work, I came to find that Marion had been killed in a car accident while I was out on vacation. I ended up hanging on to the wind chime because it reminded me of her.

Six years later, I was working for the state of Arkansas at a medical university. We had a visiting professor from Boston that I became very friendly with. She had moved down to Arkansas for an extended stay to teach while her daughter (who was 11 at the time) received treatment for Leukemia at Children's hospital.

She brought her daughter into work after one of her chemo treatments and I got to meet her. She was a bubbly little baldy and was wearing a bright orange shirt with a mermaid on the front of it. I commented on how cute it was and could tell that her little girl was clearly very glittery when it came to mermaids.

That night, I went home and grabbed the mermaid wind chime that I had bought for Marion six years prior and dusted it and put it in a little sack.
I brought it to work the next day and handed it to Dr. T and asked her if she would give it to her daughter as a present.

Dr. T asked if she could looked at it and I was like "of course!". When she opened the sack, she GASPED and her face went sheet white.

She got all animated and was like "where did you get this? WHERE DID YOU GET THIS?"

When I told her I had gotten it at a little boutique in Montreal, she freaked the fuck out and was like "I saw this wind chime in a shop in Montreal and almost bought it for my daughter when she was five and I kicked myself for YEARS for not buying it for her!"

The next day, Dr. T brought in a photo album from her own Montreal trip and there, about halfway through the album, was a picture she had taken of the mermaid wind chime, the same mermaid wind chime that I had just given her for her daughter.

Freaky!

in the light of this thread i wonder if anyone feels the way i do about some things.

Like.. when you forget something at home and you take an extra 10 min to go get it, then you realize there was an accident that you just missed.

When you get lost in your own neighborhood, for whatever reason and during that extra trip around the block something came on the radio you needed to hear.

a friend was telling me that her damn flight was delayed by 2 hours, but in that time she ran into a childhood friend (now they are in CUBA) and caught up and laughed for 2 hours which flew by. i didn't think that was an accident.
She was meant to see that person.

i don't believe in *accidents*. i think things happen for whatever reason.

No i don't that's crazy.

I don't know if it fully fits in the scope of this thread, but from the time I had conceptual thought....maybe 2 or 3...I knew that I was going to die a horrible, painful death that was going to be violent and that it would involve knives. It wasn't something I had a phobia about. It was just 'known' and came to me as easy as breathing. As I grew older and got a grasp on how the world worked, I came the conclusion it would either be a mugging/burglary or a domestic violence situation. Like I said, this was something I knew, like my name or my birthday. I'm Kat, my birthday is May 31st and I'm going to die violently by a knife-wielding person. *shrug*

But in the past few years, that's changed. The knowing 'went away'. And, for someone that has fallen asleep with and woken up to that knowledge for years, through more than a decade of sexual abuse, two failed marriages and some really, really poor choices in how I lived my life, I felt lost when I realized it was gone. It had been a relief, I suppose, to know. I'm one of 'those' people; the 'gotta know' people. When series finales or movies leave you hanging, it irritates me. Even if I disagree with how it should have been done, I still want to know a DEFINITE ending, otherwise it's not an ending.

Looking back, I cannot pinpoint the exact moment that the knowing vanished. My logical theory....in a somewhat less than logical circumstance....is that something changed. Either I made a choice that altered my future or someone else made a choice that altered my future. Okay, I can live with that. BUT...please remember, I'm one of 'those' people. So, I've worked it over in my head and worried it until it's a tired, frayed thought and I've realized something.

I had that thought firmly imbedded in my pysche when I moved to WA but did not have it any longer when I moved to TX. Well, shoot. That gives me more than 4 years to mull over. And, of course, I have. I worked in hospitality and came into contact with a lot of people, day in and day out. I also removed myself from an unhealthy relationship during that time frame and, literally, began my life over from nothing. Billions of opportunities to change one's life or the life of another during that time.

Maybe the act itself of beginning life again, a rebirth of sorts, tripped the reset button. I'm still not 100% positive, and that does frustrate me once in a while, but I think I've gotten it narrowed down to an incident that involved the ex trying to get me to open my lobby doors so we could talk. Note: this was well after midnight in the morning, it was against company policy to open the doors until the set time they were supposed to be open, and my gut was screaming....screaming! and it never does that....not to open the door. Granted, I've done things in my various jobs that would get me into trouble if found out. But this time, I was genuinely afraid. So, I didn't. And we stood with thick glass doors and windows and wooden panels between us and she screamed at me and I remember feeling removed from the situation. I assumed it was me disassociating from the temper tantrum that was happening (my go to coping mechanism) but maybe it was more. Maybe it was something pulling me back from my future as I knew it. This person was military trained and very upset. Anything could have happened. Or nothing.

Looking back, I remember it being very difficult to get to sleep after work that morning, but when I did, I slept very soundly. Maybe...

This train of thought came about between Girl_on_Fire's thoughts on instincts and dee's thoughts about destiny. I've always thought that our lives are a mixture of destiny and free will.....that we're going to wind up however, whenever, wherever like we are destined...supposed...to be, but how we get there....our paths....are chosen by us.

Maybe I chose a different path that night.

The gut is the second brain. It's our intuition. When we let our brain override it (Gemme did not) we get into trouble.

Ok once when i was in massage school, there was a CD i was supposed to listen to from the owner of the school. It was inspirational and i thought BLAH BLAH BLAH yawn.

Well i went out for lunch one day from work, and missed my turn. i knew it would be a while before i could get to the next exit and go back. Cape Cod is separated by exits. HOW i missed it i'll never know because i took it every single day.

i thought fine, i'll throw this CD in. Now i was going through a rough time, my partner was in her full blown alcoholism, becoming physically angry and i was far away from home. i felt hopeless actually. Well this CD changed me. ALL the words i needed to hear came to me. i was blown away that it sounded like she made that CD just for me, even though everyone got one.

When i made it to work, i pulled up in my parking spot, and the CD ended at the exact same time.

i knew then what i needed to do, and that all would be ok, and it was.

My intuition has always been fairly strong. A friend once told me that if I would develop it and learn to read the signs, that I would be "off the charts" in my abilities. This weekend, I had a little reminder.

Thursday, I started relating a situation in my life to a movie - "The Wizard of Oz." A movie I like, but it is not a fave. I tried to fit the situation into other movies but it did not work. Using the movie as a metaphor was making it easier for me to relate to things, see an outcome and stop stressing so much. I knew that in time, Oz would be revealed for who they really were.

Saturday, the curtain fell. And I knew it was going to happen.

Today, Riley texted me, "turn it to Channel 112."

Anyone want to guess what was on? "The Wizard of Oz."

Gemme

I think it would be the same with me...well, maybe not 'off the charts', but definitely much better.

Often I feel a teeny tiny twinge about something but it's so soft and light that it can be, and is usually, brushed off and I go about my day only to realize later on that that's what it was and that I should have listened.

It's not unusual for me to think about something or someone and say to myself that I hadn't seen them around in a while and wonder what they were up to and, lo and behold, within a couple of days that person calls or comes by or something happens that relates to what I was thinking about.

BUT

It's such a soft 'voice' that it's hard to hear. Or maybe the world is too loud. Or I'm too loud. Or stubborn. But it's not something that I find easy to 'practice' and there is rarely an aha moment that helps me when I can hear and do listen. For example, there's no news report that says because I did not do this, then that did not happen. The correlation is not often apparent. I'm a reward-based learner for the most part, so that's difficult.

Going back to what sharkchomp said about the guy that used to work for the same company....I have had instantaneous knowledge of folks from time to time like that but I think it has to do with equal parts gut instinct and education from past experiences. I've pointed out people to my best friend in high school that were abused and once, when we were at a zoo, I pointed out a father and daughter to her and knew that that was an abusive relationship, though all outside signs showed a 'normal' loving family. I'm certainly not an expert on that but with my history, some signs really connect.

Who knows? I could have been wrong. I hope I was. But I could have been right too. Without creating a lot of drama over potentially nothing....or everything...there's no way to know for sure.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh this is so true!!!!

About 10 years ago i was headed to work one rainy morning. There was a motorcycle in front of me and i had followed him for about 5 miles or so. Now i'm a motorcycle friendly driver and watch for them and was not following too close. All of a sudden, something told me, back off. I poopooed it and kept my pace. Again i felt..."BACK OFF". Not only did i slow down i changed lanes.

Almost immediately the bike went down. He had to be going about 70mph. He slid about 100 feet at least with his bike in front of him. Luckily he had on big thick protective gear and a helmet. He was still bleeding some and had broken at least his leg. I stayed with him until EMS got there.

Point is...if i had stayed behind him, i would have for sure run him over, even at my distance due to the rain, when he went down.

No doubt.

I mentioned one coicidence; here are a couple more.

1) I was talking to a guy at work, and he mentioned he was buying an apartment in the same building I had lived in with my partner during our 10-year-relationship. He was buying an apartment in the building that I knew quite well, because my partner and I had stayed in it for a couple months, while our apartment was renovated.

2) When I was in graduate school in NYC, I had some friends over to meet my friend who was visiting from L.A. She and I were in the apartment when everyone showed up, and when my friend Steve walked in the door she yelled out, Hey, did you go Uni High? (nickname for a high school in L.A.) And yes, he had gone there and they had been classmates.

3) A poet in California has my deceased sister's first and last name. Facebook kept telling me I should "friend" her in that automated thing it does to further knit the circles of people together (we're both writers and have some editors and magazines in common, which triggered FB to nudge us toward each other), and finally I did friend her, though each time I saw her name it jolted me.

I told her why her name gave me pause, and she shared that her brother had just died, so we began to show each other our dead sibling poems, and formed a real bond. Then I introduced her work to an editor out here and got her into a nice magazine that we're both in, so I see my name and her (my sister's) name on the contributor's page, which is weird and nice.

I guess these aren't spooky or creepy or maybe not even that freaky but I like coincidences like that. They make the world feel like a small town.

I remember ignoring two very strong feelings once on the road and it ended up in disaster both times.

The first time I was driving behind a school bus and there was a sports car of some type behind me. I kept having a strong feeling to change lanes. I didn't. The sports car hit me. Six months later, I found out I had a herniated disc in my neck. It's 8 years later and I still experience terrible neck spasms from it.
:(

The second time I was driving on the highway on an icy night and I got a very strong feeling to pull off at the first exit. I didn't. Not two seconds past said exit, I slid hard on a patch of ice, catapulted across two lanes of traffic, spun, and hit the guardrail, pretty much taking off the front end of my car. To make matters worse, the State Trooper that arrived on the scene was a complete and total jerk to me. My front end was jury-rigged with duct tape and a bungee cord for six months after that. Yeah, not fun.

So now when I feel something while I'm driving, I listen. (I swear the angels just shake their heads at me sometimes).

Me too, Girl_on_Fire!

It was Superbowl weekend and I was driving down the FL Turnpike to see my girlfriend when I got the feeling to just turn back and go home. Call her and say I'm just too tired. I'd worked all day and then started out on the 3 plus hour drive but I was a little more than halfway there and I'd just made a pit stop at a rest area. Even though it was pitch black and raining, I ignored that feeling. So, I pushed on. Less than 10 minutes later, I hydroplaned going down a hill and slammed into the back of a Park Avenue. My car....the first new car I'd ever had...was totalled and repeatedly kept catching on fire, no matter how many times folks helped me put it out. It began what was one Helluva miserable weekend that, when I tell people everything that happened, they just shake their heads and I can see the pity in their eyes. Bad, bad weekend. The cherry to this little sundae of misery? She broke up with me a few hours later.

Edited to add: I also wound up with medical issues from this that still crop up from time to time.

One of the strangest things that ever happened to me happened about 8 years ago. I was deeply obsessed with somebody and thought about hym all the time. One weekend, I went to visit with a friend and I was lying down on the bed relaxing because I was having a bad flare-up with my neck (from a car accident) and my friend was playing hys guitar.

I'm sort of drifting off on the bed and blankly staring at the mirror on the wall. All of a sudden, a face appeared in the mirror. It was very subtle at first. Like an outline somebody was drawing with soap. I stopped my friend from playing the guitar and sat up, staring open-mouthed at the image once it became clear what I was seeing. I thought I was straight-up losing my mind. I asked my friend, "Please look at the mirror. Whose face is that? Am I crazy?"

Hy stopped playing and looked at the mirror. Hy saw the exact same thing. It was the face of the person I'd been obsessing over. An image that looked exactly like one of hys pictures. We just stared at it...almost like we were trying to "see" it away or try to make it something else. Neither of us thought to take a picture. We didn't know what to make of it. It stayed there for about an hour before fading away.

This event was not isolated but occurred in a very strange set of synchronous events over a course of several years. But that was one of the most obvious.

Has anyone else ever been "haunted" by the living?

Alright, I've got another one:

When I was 17, I dated a warlock. He was a biological male and very dark. I didn't realize just how dark until we broke up. Fast forward 4 years later and he just walks into where I work. We start having a very brief fling and it ends again because well, he's an egomaniac and into very dark magic. I'll call him "A".

A few months later, I started dating another man. I'll call him "R". Turns out, he'd be the last one I'd date but that's another thing. Anyway, we were walking around downtown and talking about "A". Suddenly, "R" changes. The way he held his body. The way he walked and moved. He looked at me, put his arm around me, and leaned in for a kiss and I SAW "A's" face in his eyes. All of his mannerisms were "A's". I had never before seen a person possessed by another living person but there it was. It was actually happening and there was no way "R" could have known how he was acting because they'd never met. Even his voice had changed.

I backed away and was like, "R, do you know what's happening?" "R" shook his head as if to clear it and turned back into himself. He looked really shaken and said he felt like he'd been 'inhabited'. We went home and he did a meditation while I drummed steadily so he could get the intruder out of his head.

Shortly after that, I went to a Shaman about "A". She did a type of healing/protection thing that supposedly now makes me invisible to him. This was over a decade ago and I'd actually forgotten about it until I started this thread.

Yes, true story. The last two posts were so strange, I almost didn't share them.

Anybody else?

Definitely not equally freaky....that would have absolutely concerned me, G_o_F, but something I consider interesting....

My work site is next to a property that contains many things, some of which are beat up and broken down mobile homes. Some are in better repair than others and some even look decent...from a distance.

Well, they have one that I believe is haunted. It's been on the lot as long as I've worked here, which will be two years next month. No matter what they do, they can't keep the front door shut. I've seen them use a nail gun and chains and rope and one guy even brought out welding materials. It seems to work, until you come into work the next morning and look over and the door's waving back and forth in the wind again.

The door hasn't been busted open and the screws and nails and doobobs and whatchmacallits they used to afix the door to the frame just seem to fall off, causing no further damage to the home.

My guess is that the only way they are going to be able to sell that one is if they advertise it as a 'summer' home. Trying to battle the cold and rain and wind in the winter with the door swinging open every day just doesn't seem attractive to me.

*laughs*

Yeah, I hear that. I don't know. The guy claimed to be a warlock but you know how guys are trying to impress girls (guys meaning bio men, trans men, butches, etc.) so I really didn't think he was that serious. Or maybe I did. I was so young. I didn't realize how negative he really was. I was so freaked out, I went to a psychic about what happened and had a letter of his he'd written to me. This is a strong woman I'd seen twice before and she had to get up and get sick in the bathroom after she touched the letter. That's when she sent me to the Shaman. That's pretty bad.

I have a habit of attracting some serious darkness into my life. Working on that though, thank goodness.

Here's one i forgot...it happened when I was a teenager, in the same 3 family house that my uncle owned...

It was the weekend, I was in bed and waking up slowly. My brother was over for the weekend (my parents shared custody of him and my sister). I didn't open my eyes right away since I really wanted to sleep longer. I suddenly could FEEL that someone was standing by my bed, hovering over. I could see their shadow even through my eyelids...I figured it was my little brother trying to scare me...so I decided to scare him first. I quickly opened my eyes and made some kind of BAH! sound at him...he wasn't there. But a long shadow passed slowly from the side of my bed to the corner of the room and disappeared.

I was used to things like this happening, but it was interesting to get a visual of the ghost...even if it was sort of a visual...

About 10 years ago, my then-husband, my brother and I had gone to see my dad in Amarillo. When we got on the highway, I ended up accidentally headed the wrong way. I didn't realize for a while until I saw a sign showing the miles to some place in Oklahoma. We had driven for a while, so rather than turn back and go the way we'd come, we decided to take the smaller farm to market roads to get us going south again. However, we did have to turn the car around first before we could do this. When I did turn around, I saw for a moment an image of Jesus in my rear-view mirror. At the time I was a pretty staunch atheist. In this image, he was floating above the highway median, looked to be about 10 feet tall and had his hands slightly out at his sides. I knew it was just one of those things you see out of the corner of your eye sort of things - I didn't think Jesus was really floating above the highway median.

Anyway, I mentioned it to my then-husband and described it to him because he tends to be interested in these sorts of things. And we went on our way down the back roads toward the highway we were supposed to be on.

We came to a small town about 15 minutes later where we stopped for gas There was a border collie there with a bent muzzle (I assume from an accident). He was very charming and seemed very much to want to get in somebody's car. He was pretty pathetic - just trying to make friends with anybody. We asked about him inside the gas station and they said they'd never seen him before but he was probably dumped. My ex and I were already beyond our limit with the number of animals we had, and we didn't know really what we should do. We gave the dog some hot dogs from the gas station and drove off. And within 5 minutes we were back with a plan to pick up the dog, bring him back with us to Austin and see if we could find him a home since we couldn't keep him.

He happily jumped in our car when we came back. As we drove out of town, we realized we were in Nazareth, Texas.

When we got back to Austin, we went straight to the emergency vet I used to work for and asked if we could turn in a stray to them. The girl who worked there loved border collies, had a border collie, accepted the dog and said she'd contact the local border collie rescue group who would snap him up.

I always kinda felt like the rearview jesus was a random sign that we were supposed to help the dog in Nazareth, but it's been pointed out to me that you really can't throw a stick without hitting a town in Texas with some sort of biblical name. Still most don't relate directly to jesus and as an atheist I didn't spend much time thinking about the guy.

I had forgotten about this one....it was a house we lived in briefly (thankfully)

Well... a little background is necessary...and a bit awkward. When I was 13-18 my mother was married to a man who was a bad alcoholic. At the beginning of their marriage, he didn't work but went to school and she worked 2 jobs to support us all. Since she was gone all day, he was unsupervised a lot and would frequently have to ask me if he was home when he was supposed to be. Sooo

One night when I was 13, I was lying in bed. My room had one of those sliding louvered doors. I was trying to get to sleep when I suddenly saw a shadow outside my door and heard a voice whisper loudly "ANN!" (That's my mother's nickname for me) I was just about to answer...but...something just seemed off about it. I called out to my mom...she didn't answer. I called louder. She was in her room in bed...

Other things happened there. My mom was vacuuming once and suddenly screamed. I asked her what was wrong and she said she saw a spider. :| We are not afraid of spiders ...lol Some time passed, and my mother admitted that she had felt a cold hand on her shoulder and turned figuring her husband had come in from the cold....but there was no one there...

I came home from class one night and when I got out of the car, I heard a female voice whisper in my ear. I didn't catch what she said but it was a definite whisper and I was all alone in the back lot. I ran into the house. Scared the crap out of me. I don't know if I could handle have an actual conversation with a ghost.

I was spending the night at my grandparents house, right after my grandma passed away. I was lying in her bed and early in the morning, someone smacked my leg. I jumped up and got out of bed. I could hear my grandpa snoring in his room and there was a horrible smell in her room. Until the day my grandpa passed away, I never stepped a foot into that house.

#2 of creepy things: Right after my grandma passed away, I was giving her Bible. One night I woke up to my bedroom door opening and closing on its own. I put a shoe in the doorway and stayed awake. The following morning, u gave the Bible back to my dad and fifteen years later, I have the Bible back in my house and nothing odd has happened.

I'm like, Pajama; I do believe in the after life.

I process a lot of my interactions through senses anyway but my energy seems to heighten even further in dreams. While they are usually not creepy, I find it very disturbing for instance, to have a bad dream and get the smell of "death" This is why I can't watch horror movies. All of the sounds, smells and textures just become so vivid.

I haven't had any ghost like encounters for a long time but getting up while it's still dark out, often I think I am hearing children laughing in a playground while I do my paper route. I am trying not to freak myself out but I have a feeling those sounds aren't my imagination and they certainly aren't coming from a 5 yr old out before 7 am.

It just brings back a lot of creepy memories from my childhood.

One time when I was only a kid, downstairs in my living room on a rainy saturday or sunday afternoon. I was alone. I was looking out the window when out of the corner of my eye I saw the shadow of a tall man walking around the house. I went outside and saw that the shadow was by the barn.

I figured that it would be my father or uncle who had returned and were working outside but when I got closer I realized nobody was there.

I only had a few encounters with the paranormal and for a long time nobody wuold believe me whenever I shared my stories. I just stopped telling them after they went away.

I guess I am really scared to have things start happening again. I like watching ghost hunters and stuff but I don't want to freak myself out and trip myself up only *thinking* I am encountering it again. Does that make sense?

I do understand that. Maybe you're just unconsciously opening yourself up to it again in a way. You're always in control though, remember that.

****

I actually just remembered this. Your story brought it back. I was walking on a trail once and saw a man ahead of me. I could only see the back of him but I remember he was big and wearing a red and white plaid shirt. I felt compelled to follow him and went all the way to the end. This trail is paved and ends at a dead end. There was no place this man could have gone but when I reached the end, he wasn't there. Weird.

Thank you so much for sharing that. It makes me feel so much better to know that first of all, I am not alone and secondly, that there is comfort in sharing stories and feeling in control of these situations. It's still a bit creepy, though.

I have opened myself up a lot lately. I seem to be able to read what some people are thinking about, or how they are feeling. I have had a few people (who I don't know other then to randomly chat now and then with them on here) say to me that I need to get out of their heads, in a joking way. It is shocking to me because I never really had that happen before.

Alright, I thought of another one:

In 2002, my then-partner and I went to see a Tori Amos concert. We were in our seats waiting for the show to start when this rather beautiful biological man with long dark hair, dark eyes, and a trench coat came down the aisle, walking in a way that it seemed he was floating. He stopped near us and stared intently at the stage. I must have gotten caught up in his aura or something because I looked at him and heard myself say, "You're looking for the red-headed girl."

He turned toward me and kind of smiled and said he was. He looked around a bit and I believe we may have spoken for a minute or two. He had a very unusual, 'otherwordly' quality about him. My then-partner said something and I turned to her. When I looked back, the man had vanished. I mean just disappeared and I couldn't have looked away for more than a second.

We talked about him for a minute or two and tried to locate him but couldn't. The show started and we forgot all about him.

Here's where it gets weird:

We both went to bed that night and had the exact same dream about him. (No, not like that. lol!) We were at a type of tea party a-la "Alice in Wonderland" and he was there. It was more involved than that but when we woke up, we realized we'd both dreamed the exact same thing.

When I do tell this story, I say it's the one time I may have met a vampire (though I don't actually believe in them). He looked like he'd just walked off the set of "Interview - With the Vampire". This was before it was cool for vampires to sparkle. ;)

Tonight, on my drive home, I passed an old (now abandoned) mill. I had just started going over a bridge across from it when I noticed 3 men standing at different points on the bridge. Since I never see anyone on that bridge I was curious. A car passed me just then, and after it was a bit away, I put on my high beams to see what all the people were doing on the bridge. But there was no one there....I saw them SO distinctly though..Right down to wearing hats...they were walking, most of them turning towards the water. I remember thinking someone must have jumped....it was the oddest thing...

Made me remember a couple other things....

When my ex husband and I were first married, we bought an older house. (Late 1800s). One day as we were getting home, I got out of the car and just happened to look at the outside of the kitchen window. In the reflection I saw a man standing by the stone wall behind me. Scared me so much I jumped...I turned to see who it was and there was no one there...

Also at that house, I had a very peculiar instance of hearing an argument between two men speaking French coming from my basement....I was in my living room and heard them yelling RIGHT below me...very odd...

And one last thing...

I once worked for the Department of Mental Retardation. The facility I worked for was on a huge 100s of acre site. They had the newer buildings (which I worked in) but across the street, now overgrown in the woods, they had the old housing that was provided before the treatment of the mentally retarded had improved.
It was winter. I decided to visit these buildings (there were 3 large multi story buildings, as well as 4 adorable cottages (used as nurseries) that were all sitting empty and crumbling).
I was in one of the larger buildings, on the second floor. I was near a window and I heard the distinct sound of footsteps in snow...I took a peek out the window ( I was trespassing...I admit it) and saw a man in a hoodie and sweat pants walking through the snow... I freaked out at the thought of being caught there and ran quietly down the stairs to the lower landing (which because of the way the building was made was still like being on the 2nd floor)....I heard the footsteps still. I could make an easy and less noticeable exit through the front...When I went through the front and looked to see where he was, there was no one to be seen. There were no doors for him to enter through since he was in the back of the building....The snow made it hard to walk very fast anyhow...my curiosity got the better of me and I went to look where I had seen him walking and there were no footsteps in the snow. Yeah, I never went back there alone...EVER...

One morning I was in bed nursing my oldest daughter, Clarissa. My mind wandered a tad..and I began to consider a lamp that we received as a wedding gift. It was a touch lamp, and as I looked at it I started thinking...what would I do if the light just turned on? Knowing full well that the light can ONLY be turned on by touching it....and I focused on that thought...very intently...and I SWEAR by God and all the Saints and on my kids' souls, the light suddenly turned on.

I admit, I got really freaked out by this and I got up with the baby and turned the light off the usual way. I think I may have even unplugged it...

Last week, my daughter and I were checking out the outside of a house we were considering renting. It was an older home, late 1800's, with a huge tree in the backyard. As we were looking around, something out of the corner of my eye made me look towards one of the bedroom windows, where I thought I glimpsed a figure looking out (the place was empty). It's not that it was scary, but something was "wrong" around the big tree. I also had mixed feelings of "home" and "something wrong" when we went up the huge old steps in front to peek in the front rooms.

As we drove off down the street, an orb suddenly flew up in front of the windshield and over the back of the car. There were no other cars around, no lightening, and the nearest streetlight was farther down the street.

The last couple days, I've had that "something's wrong" sense in parts of my apartment, which already had creepy things going on. Of course, I later found out that the house we were looking at had several deaths in it and a murder .

We lived in England when I was quite young. I think I'd just turned 5 and my mother had signed me up for highland dancing lessons, scratchy kilt and all. Even at that young age I went by myself because the classes were in a newish addition to an ancient church directly across the street from our home. It was really more of a village, the town of Pinner, in those days, and street was very quiet. Too, I knew to look for cars. I would scoot across the road, let myself though a gate that had to have been at least 300 years old, the church itself dating back to the 14th century, waltz through the headstones and enter the recreation hall. We lived on Church Lane in a lovely house named Yew Tree Cottage.

The classes were held in a brightly lighted room attached to the church. The main part of the church, specifically the area near the altar could be seen through a doorway at the far end of the room, but with the bit of difficultly that often comes with peering into a darker space whilst surrounded by brightness. One evening, a couple of months in, I had a little break and wandered over to that opening and stood there, leaning on the door frame, looking into the church, up the length of the nave to the altar area. Once my eyes adjusted I realized I was seeing an old monk praying at the rail. He was wearing the traditional long, brown, woolen robe with what looked like a rope belt. His garb was not unusual and I had seen others walking around town similarly attired. I wasn't especially interested in him, per se, until I realized that though he was kneeling, his knees were not touching the floor. He was about 8 inches above it. There, praying peacefully, not touching the floor. As I watched, he got to his feet, still not touching the floor, and made his way out through a door on the side of the church. I was gobsmacked and thrilled and couldn't wait to rush across the street to tell my dad, he being the progenitor of both my person and my already burgeoning love of all things spooky. The remaining hour or so of class seemed interminable.

When I eventually got home I immediately told my father and he was as excited as I was. The next day we walked together to the church and he inquired about what I'd seen. I rather suspect he was expecting either a shocked reaction or blank stares. Instead the woman in the office said, "Oh, yes, that's brother so and so. He's been about for years." When asked about his floatiness, she explained that when he'd been alive, evidently several centuries earlier, the floor in the church had been higher. About 8 inches higher.

This is the kid I was at the time, sitting in the cottage window...

Ah, so many stories to tell, so little time.

Here's a short one.

While living in a garage turn living quarters, several ghosts came to visit us during the couple of years we lived there. One in particular was quite annoying. He would go into my kitchen and make a mess, dropping/throwing pots and pans all over the floor, making a racket. Took a while but finally got him to leave. Former Navy cook who still went to work every day.

Then there was the ass that liked to watch my daughter shower. Got rid of him quick.

Oh and the white cat that used to disappear into the walls... she finally went next door and scared the pregnant neighbor. After a little talkie poo she stayed out of sight so as to not cause an early delivery.

We have a ghost in the house now. He is quite a pest sometimes. Hiding stuff, moving stuff. He thinks he is quite amusing.

I have always seen or heard/felt odd things. Don't pay much attention anymore unless it requires my full attention.

Great stories everyone!

I remembered a couple more:

This was a while ago. I was sleeping and I woke up in the middle of the night to this weird scrabbling sound under my bed. It sounded like a squirrel caught in a plastic shopping bag for lack of a better way to describe it. I laid there, wide awake and paralyzed with fear as I listened to the sounds of what seemed like several small animals running around on plastic bags under my bed. Somehow, I managed to fall back to sleep. I have no idea what the sound was or where it came from as I never found any creatures or evidence thereof the next morning.
______________________________________

This was just horrible. It's not "ghostly", it's just horrible. It was really hot one summer and I was sleeping in the nude. I lived in a basement apartment at the time and had some problems with leaking pipes. Well, that attracted bugs. Lots of them. (You see where I'm going with this don't you?)

I woke up at 2 am to the feel of something biting me. I turn the light on, throw back the sheets and two huge house centipedes were in bed with me. I scramble out of bed, shrieking my head off, and run out into the living room only to see another one of the hideous things crawling around on the white living room wall. I almost had a heart attack and died right there and I was only 19 years old.

*shudders* I have been terrified of centipedes ever since.

Many years ago I was in New Orleans on a sales blitz with the company I worked for. We all partnered off in twos to saturate the city on sales calls. Well the girl I was partnered with, a local rep of our New Orleans branch, and I decided that our time would be better spent doing touristy things in the city *lol* because I had never been there and she was anxious to show me. We ended up in the Garden District and then over to the Lafayette Cemetery and walked around taking pictures. The rest of the day antiquing, the French Quarter, etc. This was back in the day before digital cameras *lol* and I took 2 or 3 rolls of film that trip. When I got home and had the film processed [it was color film] and looked at the photos for the first time, I was shocked at what I had. All of the pictures were fine and as expected except for those that I took in the Lafayette Cemetery. Those pictures all came back in a sepia tone. Not one of them was in color. It could have been some freak processing accident but it was awfully coincidental that it was only those images from the cemetery that were affected. And yes, I still have the pictures.

Something weird happened just tonight. It was actually kind of incredible. My grandfather passed away in 2005. My 4-year-old cousin was born in late 2008. We've been convinced since he was old enough to talk that he's the reincarnation of our grandfather. Our uncle passed away in 2003 and due to health complications, he had jaundice. Tonight, we were all just sitting around talking about family members in general and out of absolutely nowhere, my 4-year-old cousin said, "Uncle *** was the one that was yellow." My aunt, cousin, and eye all got wide-eyed and chilled at once. There's no way that child could have known what our uncle had suffered from. Just more proof that the little one has been here before.

My friend has been telling me for a few years that I have a ghost in my house and there were small things that might be explained as being ghostly, but nothing really concrete that I've seen or heard.
My daughter likes to skype with her friends and one night she was talking with a guy friend around 3am. It was the holidays. He told her "don't turn around but there's a girl sitting right behind you". She said she wasn't scared and never turned around but she knew he wasn't joking. Later that night she went to the kitchen to get something to drink and he asked who she was talking to at this time of night. She said she wasn't talking to anyone. He said that he heard a girl laughing.

Another night I came home from working overtime on afternoon shift (2 am) and heard my daughter's tv on in her room. I was miffed because I hate it when she leaves the tv going all night. I put my things down in the kitchen and walked back to her room. The talking had stopped so I assumed that she heard me and turned it off. When I went back to the kitchen, I could hear talking again and realized...that bum! she's on the phone! So I went back to her room and opened her door and told her to get off the phone. She said she wasn't on the phone. I said "Emily, get off the phone. I can hear you talking" She said "Mom, I'm not on the phone! I was sleeping. I have school in the morning". Well, that was proof enough for me.

Many years ago while taking my dog to her favorite park, I saw a man wearing heavy clothing, it was too warm for dressing that way, and a felt hat like Indiana Jones, walk into a tree and not come out the other side... I have a witness besides me.

Mucho creepy.

I used to tell myself it was Carlos Casteneda. :cigar2:

I was 13 or 14 when this happened and I was living on Oahu.
I was home alone one Saturday afternoon watching the telly.
I started to hear my mother's music boxes go off in the other room for no reason. So, I thought this is strange so I got up and had a look.
They stopped right before I got to them. A few months passed and it happen again to me. This never happened to anyone else in my family.
I know there are plenty of ghosts and other weird things that live on
Oahu. So, it all kinda of made sense in a way.

I didn't expect to be writing anything about our current house..it's probably under 20 years old....but

Today...I was alone in the house... I was working at the stove, cleaning the stove top....I had the hall light on (to my immediate left) and while I was standing there, the light got interrupted as if someone had walked by. It was very distinct and it took me about 3 seconds to stop what I was doing and realize that since no one was home, that should NOT happen....

Then, later I was getting ready to go to the store. I was looking everywhere for my keys. I figured I left them in the hatch when I was getting stuff in. I went out and put the dogs in the car and looked. Nada. Went in and did a sweep of the entire house. Still nothing. I went back outside to the car, and was about to check all over it when I suddenly heard the back door close. I froze...knowing I was entirely alone in the house...and then decided to go look :| There was no one there except the cat, but in going in the back yard I found my keys...laying where I had put them down near the garden when I was pulling weeds after I got home from the gym....

Oh, I've had that happen. It's so creepy because it takes you second to realize what just happened and the chill comes over you slowly. I've had interrupted sound too where it feels like someone is walking by and they're not. Weird.

A year ago, 2011, the day after Thanksgiving....my mother had a terrible stomach ache. The next morning, it was so bad that I had to have her rushed to the ER.

After a couple weeks of this test and that test and various treatments....they did surgery......on Friday, Dec. 9th. When the surgeon opened her up, all he could see was cancer growth......both ovarian and intestional cancer. The next day we met to go up and tell our mom the results of surgery. She was bound and determined not to ruin any of our holidays and wanted to see her grandkids and great-grandchild open their gifts. Christmas was and still is my families favorite time of the year. Oncologist said that with treatment, she could live 1 - 1 1/2 years...without, perhaps 6 weeks. My mother was very short.....very Italian...very fiesty...very bossy.....and very stubborn...and refused any chemo treatment.

A few days later, she told me that all she wanted to do was to go home for the holidays...she was living with me at the time...so that Friday, 12/16, I had her brought home. For the next week I ran around getting her gifts purchased and wrapped...food bought...house decorated...and care for her, along with my brother and occassional home health care nurse (not overly impressed with them). Then on Friday afternoon....she told me she was done. I called hospice and they came over to do the paperwork and medicines...absolutely wonderful team...loved, loved, loved, them. In the middle of the night, my mom told me she was having terrible dreams...when she woke up a couple hours later...she told me it wouldn't be long. I called everyone and she passed that evening...Christmas Eve.

Everyone told me not to worry about dinner the next morning....but I got up early..."talked" with mom and made everything...Prime Rib Roast...Honey Ham...etc, etc. (my mother liked that Christmas song...about the boy who buys his mom red shoes on Christmas so she has them before she dies......my mom always told us if we ever bought her red shoes for Christmas...she would kick us out.....I know, it was my house...but she would still kick us out.....lol). So, we sit down to eat...do a Christmas toast...and I get up to go put the radio on...sure enough, what immediately starts from the beginning? It is that song. Made my brother start misting.

After dinner, we went into the media room to have the kids open gifts....my niece was taking photos of her daughter, in the dress that great-grammy bought her...it was such a fun and lively Christmas. Everyone was laughing and we just felt the spirit all through us. There was so, so much laughter and energy that night.

(my mothers favorite movie is the Twilight Series, her favorite color is purple, and her favorite flower is lilacs)

The next morning one of my brothers and I went to the funeral home. When we walked into the room full of urns, I immediately looked at a real nice purple one with silver etchings, up on a shelf....I pointed it out to my brother...who started misting again. He told me to come over and look at the name of it....."Twilight Lilac"......sold...we were done in 5 minutes.

When we got back to my house, my niece was there with her dad (other brother)...excited about the photos from the night before. In reviewing them....there was an orb in each of the photos...in different spots in each photo....around mom's grand-children/great-grandchild. She hadn't missed the holidays afterall. She was there from helping me cook to picking out what urn she wanted....I mentioned she was kinda bossy like that :)

A couple weeks later, I had her Celebration of Life in my backyard, around the pool. (She had written instructions for me. titled "My Last Chapter"..again...bossy Italian). I ordered chairs, special ordered lilacs, linens, etc. I cooked Italian foods and desserts for 125 people and we had 108 show up....

In reviewing photos of the celebration later on....there was an orb in the kitchen with me...as well as over my uncle in another photo (her favorite brother-in-law)...as well as next to her great-grandchild and my other nieces dogs.

Creepy...maybe...Wierd....yes...but I am very peaceful knowing that she is still here (telling us what to do...sigh)....and that she is also now with my dad (her Edward......for those Twilight fans).

I also come from an Italian family, where my father ruled the kitchen, and loved to cook. I was no longer living at home when he died suddenly, and stopped by the house to pick something up. He was cooking dinner with the new stove he just bought, and asked me if I wanted something to eat. I was in a hurry and left, not knowing he would be gone by the next morning, and that would be the last time I would see him. The day after, around three in the morning, I was sitting alone in the kitchen thinking about him, and how I should'nt have left so fast, when suddenly I heard the click click click of the new electronic stove turning on, and then I heard the whoosh of the oven fire up! I was in my twenties, but when I heard that, I was so freaked out, that I flew out of the chair and ran to the bedroom where my mom was sleeping, and crawled in bed with her lol.

Ok, I got stuff....

18 years ago, I purchased a home that (I was told) was an old convent. After I closed on the house, I went there (obviously) and checked everything out. I found an old Jesus picture and crucifix in the attic (typical) but in the basement, there was a old root cellar that was very creepy. In order to get to the root cellar you had to go through a crawl space (the basement was separated into two sections by that crawl space), Near the root cellar was - true story - a bleeding sink. It seems that in the 1800's that convent was a funeral parlor. In that parlor they prepared and showed the bodies. I am still not sure why the crawl space separated that area.

Anyway, that place was a 3 family home. I rented the place next door to a younger couple and the place upstairs to a friend of mine. One morning, I was in my kitchen drinking my morning coffee and the night prior had been weird because my TV would not stay on. I would turn the TV on and it would shut off a few minutes later. The ladies next door came over. One of the ladies asked if someone had pounded on my door in the middle of the night. I had told her no and that's when both of them told me that they were woken up multiple times by someone pounding on the door.

Right after that, my friend came downstairs and told us ( out of the blue) that her TV would not shut off that night. She said that she was woken up many times with the TV on and had turned the TV off but it wouldn't stay off.

That house was creepy. My kids, my prior tenants.... anyone who lived there would tell you it was creepy and haunted.

today something odd happened...not so much creepy....

I was parked downtown waiting for my client who was at an appointment....

It was a nice day and lots of people were walking around downtown Northampton. I saw this one couple coming along and they were pausing here and there window shopping. In the reflection of one of those old doors....ummm the metal thing at the bottom? Kick plate maybe? I saw a little black and white dog with them. The dog was blocked from my actual view by a row of newspaper vending machines.. I was looking forward to the couple passing by the machines so I could get a better look at the dog...but...when they passed by...they had no dog...and there was no one else with a dog like that either....most peculiar.....

Not creepy or weird or anything remotely fun, other than being something coincidental, but we have a drop box at work where people can drop their payments or any documentation for their files if the office is not open.

This morning, when I cracked open the box, there were two checks inside. Two completely separate customers who, as far as I know, have absolutely nothing in common and do not know one another, except each of their checks was the same number: 1499.

So that was my 'okay, that was fun, Universe' moment today.

I was taking Jacques out one llast time before bed. The yard was dark and one of the House window's light was showing on the shed.
As I looked at it, the silhouette of a person passed by. I thought maybe one of the girls stopped by and was in the kitchen (the window I assumed the light was coming from)
I got upstairs; no one had been in the kitchen. I looked out to see if the shadow cane from the kitchen but nothing was showing on the shed now.
I knew the light couldnt be from anything but the house....so it kept bugging me.
As I laid in bed I realized the light came from the basement window and thats why it no longer shone on the shed. And since there was absolutely no one else in the basement....I have to assume the silhouette was a ghost. But someone did kill themselves in the basement eons ago....the neighbor told me so. Interesting...

For a while I have caught glimp's of shadow people hear at home, before I only barely saw then out the corner of my eye,but to day I was taking to my son and for some reason turned my head and look'd down the hall. What I saw was a full body dark shadow coming from the living room into the hall,I looked at it for a few seconds then looked away shaking my head not really beleving what I saw.
I haven't had any bad feelings anytime this has happened no matter how fleeting look I had,I have always had things like this happen but no matter how long it still surprises me.I really wish it wouldn't happen but I accepted this a long time ago.I know this place had some violence happen hear from past occupants because of the doors and a few holes that were in them and the utllity room walls, there was a fire hear many years ago so maybe it is some energy from that..who knows.I may need a someone to check the place out if it get any worse. It never bothers my fur kids and my son has never seen a thing.

Well, let's see.

Watched as man wearing a fedora walked into a tree. He DID NOT ever reappear on the other side of the tree.

I pretended it must have been Carlos Castaneda.

White ghost cat who walked out of door jam into the other side... I was awakened by my partner's screams as she witnessed the cat. It took up residence in neighbor's apt. It slept in the down comforter in their den. After it scared the pregnant neighbor half to death, I asked it to stay out of sight until after baby was born. It did.

My daughter screamed bloody murder when a male ghost appeared in the bathroom to watch her shower. Not a good day. lol.

I would be here all day and night if I told more stories. Will be back later.

For those of you seeing dark beings crawling, scuttling, walking, and or flying around your home:

Sit in a comfortable place in your home. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath and imagine a beam of pure, white light is entering through the crown of your head and filling your being. As you breathe out, allow this light to expand and grow brighter, encompassing your being and moving outward.

As you do this say either silently or out loud:

"This is a home of love and light. Only beings of love and light are allowed to be in our home. If you are not of love and light energy, you must leave. You are not welcome here. I say this in the name of [insert whatever Higher Power you believe in here]."

Even if you don't believe in God per se, this will still work. Think of the light as your Highest Self. Your own personal power and the decision you are allowed to make as a person of free will to allow only that which is good and pure into your home.

If you have a particularly stubborn dark being hanging around, you may also want to sage your home while you think or say out loud:

"Only beings of love and light may remain here. All those not of love and light must leave now."

Imagine and feel the darkness leaving through the windows or doors and picture a white-light shield around your entire home where they cannot reenter.

If that still doesn't work, consult a priest or shaman.

Im not sure I shared this one.

Years ago my ex husband and I bought an old house and lived there for about 5 years before we divorced.

One day, we arrived home and I was getting out of the car and about to get the car seat out. I happened to glance at the kitchen window which was right there and saw very clearly the reflection of a man with a beard standing behind me. Even though there was a high retaining wall there, I turned around and of course no one was there....
also....just remembered....
I was in the living room one night after the girls were in bed (same house) and I dont remember if I was reading or watching tv but from my basement I suddenly heard 2 men yellling in French....clear as day...I cautiously went downstairs (with my dog) but no one was there. That house WAS very old. Our electrician (who, sadly enough, later killed his wife and himself) told me the beams were all chestnut...which told us the house was wayyy older than what the deed said....

Oh, the dead guy in my apt. Gypsy, my cat, would chase him out of the closet and into the living room in the corner by my couch. She would hiss and snarl at him until he faded away. This went on for a couple of months. My partner at the time finally got rid of him.

So....

I was meeting a friend for lunch in the adorable town of Black Mountain. I had never been there before, so she told me where abouts to park and where I needed to go to meet her for lunch.

It was a little bit of a walk to get to the restaurant. I stopped to read the menu of this restaurant that looked good and suddenly heard these ladies behind me in a parked car remark about Jacques. I turned around and we had a nice chat about their own poodles. I noticed they were eating ice cream. It's my favorite thing ever....so I looked around to see where they got it and noticed right across the street a store called Scoops..a cute ice cream place. I made a mental note to stop there after lunch.

So, I met up with my friend and we ate and I mentioned going for ice cream. She's from the town and she started leading me the other way and I told her there was a place right here. We went over but I wasn't able to find it again. I figured I got confused about what street I was on.

WELL.....today she just happened to look it up and indeed there HAD BEEN a store called Scoops there...we got the exact address and went there and it is now a chiropractor. And has been for some time.....

All I can say is....must've been some freaky time loop....how would I have even known a restaurant by that name had ever been there...?? And...come to think of it...were the people in the car even real...? If the store wasn't real...what else wasn't....mind blowing stuff...

An undelivered letter I wrote to a would be intruder 30 years ago:

Dear Crazy Man Looking for Erica One night,

First, I'd like to apologize. When you were screaming "Erica" at the top of your lungs outside my bedroom window at midnight, I did not know that it was, infact, my apartment you believe Erica was in. I probably should have shouted back "Erica doesn't live here, dummy. Perhaps you should try a different building." However, I believe you crossed a line when you tried to break into my apartment. Twice. I know you never actually made it in, but there was a hammer (my weapon of choice) waiting for you on the other side of the door. On your first attempt, I appreciate you listening to me when I said no one named Erica lives here. That appreciation quickly fizzled when you returned 15 min later, prompting me to call the cops. Finally, while you were walking around the complex shouting "Erica" and someone hollered at you to shut up and go home, you shouting back "Reveal yourself homie" like he was hiding in the bushes or wearing an invisibility cloak, provided me with some much needed entertainment.

Sincerely, Not Erica.

Also

I had to have cataract surgery very early in life (2 years ago) and I noticed something funny the other night... I was in the bathroom with the just the nightlight on (behind me) and it illuminated the mirror in such a way that when I saw my eyes you could distinctly see the reflection of the artificial lens(es) that they implant during the surgery. So...basically...my eyes shine like a cat's at night now....:|

So this happened to me this morning. I was lying on my left side facing the door. There is a window on the other side of the room so it does get some light in from the outside even though the blinds are closed. Anyway, it was pitch dark in here. My alarm went off and I reached over and hit snooze. I opened my eyes and was looking and noticed on the wall in front of me (still lying on my side) that there was a reflection of my body on the wall, lying on my side. Well then, it appeared that the covers were being lifted up. It took me a second to really focus and yep, still looked like it. The it went down. I thought, the dog must be moving in the bed although I did not feel him move. I looked over and no movement at all. No light coming in from outside as it was before 6am. Also I'm on the second floor.

So I don't know if I was dreaming, hallucinating or if I had some thing decide to get into bed with me or out of bed. I just blew it off until I got up and started thinking about it. Creepy right? I need to stop watching scary movies/tv.

Unfortunately no. I never have "interesting" dreams for some reason. I am so deprived.

For some months now, Dear Wife and I have been experiencing some sort of "presence" in our bed at night, and it appears that it's not as a result of any of our doings. :|

We have 2 cats and they both usually sleep with us in our king sized bed each night. Our little calico usually snuggles against Dear Wife, and our big blond tabby boy, "Henry", snuggles in the space between Dear Wife and me. When this "spirit" comes, it usually makes itself known by "walking" around, down near our feet, and then settling in in between my feet, or knee area. It's really creepy, because sometimes, it lifts the covers up at the foot of the bed, and causes us to feel a slight stream of war air to waft up from under the covers. Neither Dear Wife or myself has ever actually seen this "presence", but we've sure as hell felt it. It seems to visit about 2 or 3 times a week, and only at night, when we're in bed, asleep......usually around about 3am or so.

About 6 months ago, we decided to try to see what was going on with this phenomenon, so we purchased a camera with infrared/nighttime filming capabilities. We set it up where it was sitting on our dresser, aimed at the foot of our bed, looking up. Sure enough, it wasn't long before we caught the activity on video. There it was, making small little indentations in the blanket covering, almost like something very small with small legs was sitting or walking around. Neither Dear Wife or I was moving, but you could easily see the blankets sink where the presence was, then walking around. Man, were we creeped out!!!!

We haven't felt any malevelency or bad vibes from whatever it is, so as long as it doesn't bother anyone, we are content to put up with it. LOL

I don't THINK I posted this one before since I just remembered it the other day while talking to my friend about hauntings...

It was the aforementioned triple decker that was sooo wickedly haunted.

My friend and her bf were over for a party. The boyfriend went to use the bathroom but came right back. I didn't think too much of it. That night when she called me, she said her boyfriend told her the reason he came back was because when he opened the door there was a man in the bathroom fixing the tub. :|

After a while, when several people had come and gone from the bathroom, he realized there wasn't ACTUALLY a man in there fixing the tub....by then he was creeped out and didn't want to use the bathroom any more lol.

Funny thing is, at the time this occurred the tub faucet had started to leak. With resurfaced enamel, that is a reallyyy bad thing. It was as if the "caretaker" wanted to fix it. I honestly don't recall if it did stop after that or not. Still, it's interesting to think about...

As many of you already know, I'm currently moving into this really charming but old house by the beach. And the town, as many in Florida do, has some very strange mojo around it - perhaps having a lot to do with some very violent and tragic history.

Anyway, this will be the first night I stay over; however, I have been taking some stuff there bit by bit; as much as I can cram into my car. So, for the past 2 evenings I have been in and out of the place - at strange times during the night because my work schedule has caused me to keep odd hours.

And lo; what do my ears behold? Literally the most unholy and not entirely human screams intermittently coming from next door!

I grew up in the country, so I know what fighting animals sound like. Even if it were animals fighting to the very death, I haven't ever heard anything so indescribable. It literally sounded like someone was possessed (think The Exorcist on steroids).

If it continues, I'm going to record it and I will put up a link for you to listen so maybe I can figure out what the hell is going on over there.

I need to speak with some of the other neighbors to see what is happening in that house. I'm a little freaked out. What if they tell me they didn't hear it and I'm the only one?!? And moving into this old house coincides with my final descent into madness...

This happened many, many years ago:

I was in a deep sleep when I woke up to the ear-piercing shriek of our alarm going off. Since the electricity had gone out, I couldn't see a thing. Then I felt someone touching my face (it was my boyfriend at the time). So I started screaming, he started screaming...we both started growling at each other because we were so scared and neither of us knew what was going on.

I've never felt such a deep primal fear...and it was all over nothing. I guess a storm had knocked out the electricity and simultaneously tripped the alarm. lolz

Well, it was only creepy for about 2 minutes until I pretty much figured it out but I'm going to tell the story anyway.

Early this morning at 1:33am, I was awakened by a strange sound. It came regularly but in irregular patterns and was loud enough to hear but it took me a couple of minutes to ascertain exactly what square it was coming from.

I turned on the light and found the square. I have panel ceilings and, while I understand why they can be useful, I hate them. I was NOT about to move that panel and have who knows what drop down on or right next to my bed.

My bed!

So, the sound I heard was a critter with a case of the dropsies.....a LOT of dropsies. An hour's worth before it got quiet again. It sounded like something about the size and texture of a watermelon seed being picked up and dropped. Over and over and over again. Sometimes it was pushed around a bit too. It traveled over a couple of panels but kept coming back to one right next to my bed.

I didn't hear any scurrying but it could have been a small field mouse or a bug of some kind. Maybe it was a bug that was in death throws and finally died or maybe the critter finally got the seed off of the back of the panel.

I was glad for that because the panel it was happening on is not 100% flush. I didn't want anything coming down on or at me from that tiny sliver of space.

I bought this 3 family house in a very small town. The home used to be a convent and, before that, a funeral parlor. There was actually a bleeding sink in the basement..... the think that made it extra creepy was the hose that was used to help remove the blood from the dearly deceased.

My partner, my kids and I lived in one unit. A younger lesion couple and their baby loved in the second unit. A 19 year old woman lived in the third apartment.

One night, the TV in our bedroom kept shutting off. Every single time we turned the TV back on, it would just shut off within 2 minutes

The next morning, while we were in the kitchen having coffee, the women next door came over for coffee and told us that they did not sleep one bit last night because something banged on their back door all night. They said they checked outside the first 3 times that they heard the banging, nothing was there. They said that there was a banging about every 20 minutes. A few minutes after we finished discussing the weird occurances, the woman from the other apartment came over and just blurted out that her TV would not shut off that last night.

This house was strange. From the bleeding sink to the creepy root cellar to the many strange occurances that happened there...... everyone that lived there, including my kids, would swear to anyone that the house is as a hunted as they come.

One of those times I was traveling on a highway in the wee morning hours and i guess I must of fell asleep. How do I know this? well, the sign read 45 miles to the nearest town and when I closed my eyes and open them up again it read 13 miles...you tell me what happen.

What happen during those missing miles?...I have no idea because I was sleeping...at the wheel!!

This didnt happen to me it happened to my parents but I would like to share....

Many years ago before they were even married, so late 50`s, early 60`s say..they were driving home really late one night through some country lanes. My mother looked out of her window and saw a coach and horses travelling alongside them....it was off the actual road which was very narrow, and about a foot of the ground, almost levitating...the horses were galloping fast and there was a coachman up high at the front of the carriage with the reigns and a whip in his hands...my mother said she stared for a moment or two, trying to take in what she surely could not be seeing..she told my Father to look which he did....I can remember she told me she said to him..`Oh my God, can you see that`....his reply was `Christ almighty yes !`.....they were both pretty terrified, he put his foot on the gas and they speed off down the lane and in an instant the vision was gone, just like that.

I always found it fascinating that they both saw exactly the same thing, they compared notes many times and always seemed a little unsettled when they spoke of it. Understandably so.

I believe when apprehensions are seen they often appear to be either standing or walking on thin air as if the floor or ground was at a different level at the time when they left their original impression on the place. {if that makes any sense !} So maybe where the coach was travelling, that was where the road was at one time ?

Creepiest thing to happen to me in a long time happened not so long ago...

The field i'm in work-wise is pretty hectic and has some crazy hours involved and so often i'd work one place during the day, and another at night. The shift I had just finished was a late one, and this particular place of work is over an hour away from where I live.

I had finished my shift and was driving home (5am). The roads here are pretty quiet at that time and apart from maybe a 20 minute ride on the motorway its a pretty rural route.

I had a colleague travelling in my car with me, and we were on a pretty dark part of the road, both tired and just wanting to get home. All of a sudden we see this dark tall object in the middle of the road JUST in view of my lights - slightly to the side appeared as if out of nowhere. We were really, really close to this object at the time and it was right by the drivers side. I swerved just in time not to hit whatever it was, and as we were passing it we made out what it was.

It was a man. Dressed in black jeans, a black hooded top, and black gloves. He had his hood pulled right down over his face and tied so he couldn't see anything, and we couldn't see a face. He was walking with his arms stretched directly out in front of him (Zombie Walk Style) and was trying to walk out in front of my car.

Needless to say we were both shaken, and sadly realized the man had been trying to take his own life. I called the cops to let them know and they said they would send a patrol car. I turned the car around as we both decided we should look for him, and try to help him. We drove the road for 20 minutes looking for him, he was gone. There were no houses, no lanes, no where 'normal' he could have gone. We waited and waited, the cops never showed.

I still think of him, hoping no harm came to him, and also hoping he never did to anyone else what he done to us. It was an extremely terrifying experience, one that shook us both horribly.

Well, every time I go in the kitchen its in a different position than I left it in...it was always done in the bathroom. Its not near a vent....I don't know how it keeps moving....

A few months ago I guess it was, my spouse was dozing off in bed, I was propped up in bed beside her playing on my phone and watching tv, and her grandson was in the spare bedroom watching a movie. I heard a knock on the front door and all four of my dogs started barking and ran to the door. I went to the door and nobody was there. A couple hours later grandson gets a call and has to run out. He said he would be back in a half hour. Well a half hour later I hear a key turn in my front door and my dogs go absolutely ape shit barking and snarling at the door, but when I get up and go in the living room, NOBODY there!:confused::confused::confused:

This is not creepy, but I didn't know where else to post this? I had an "experience" today after we buried our Brandy. So whenever I'm upset, sad, depressed, etc, I like to go out and cut the grass. That's just my thing, my way of meditating I guess? We have a half acre of land and I like using an old school push mower, even though everyone and their Grandmother tells me I need a riding lawn mower. So after burying Brandy I was sobbing and I started cutting the grass to try and calm myself down. Well I was very torn about putting her to sleep, and almost couldn't go through with it today. So there I am pushing the mower along slowly and crying and talking to my higher power. I asked the Goddess to PLEASE let Brandy come back to me and give me some sort of sign that I did the right thing?? Well I heard a noise like something was in the woods on our property and I turned around for a second. When I looked back there was a big orange butterfly flying over Brandys grave. It flew all around the yard and then came straight toward me and I let go of the mower and jerked my head back because it was almost in my face! So i went over to the grave and I had put a chair out their for my spouse to sit on earlier, and I sat down and watched the butterfly fly all around before it took off. I ran in the house to tell her about it. After I came out I went back to mowing and there was nothing in the grass in front of me. I turn my head to the side for like 2 seconds, and I look back and there is a white feather right in front of me!!!! I'm like whoa where that come from? I looked up but didn't see no birds around. I have heard many times that white feathers are gifts from Angels. I told my sister about all this and she said," Well you did ask for a sign". I felt like it WAS Brandy telling me that she is ok and not hurting and I made the right decision. Or it could have just been a simple overly aggressive butterfly and maybe a bird dropped a feather and flew overhead and I just didn't notice?? Hmmmmmmm. It was definitely a unique experience and I felt a little better afterwards.

Twice now in school I have seen a spirit type light in the classroom we're in...once it was in a far corner and the other time it was on the ceiling at the furthest part of the room from me.

The building is brand new. I pushed it out of my head and said I imagined it. But then a girl who sits in that area showed me a tattoo she got for her best friend who passed. It was her one year Anniversary and she got the tattoo to commemorate. So maybe there is something to it.

So this is the second time this has happened to me!! Tonight I was driving home from work around midnight, had just pulled off the highway and was cruising down a backroad. It's super dark so I always have my high beams on. There is a farm house that sits way back from the road and they have a long dirt lane to go down. At the end of that dirt lane, on the side of the road, there was a young guy wearing a red hoodie jacket with a red backpack/knapsack on the ground beside him. Well I drive past and he has his thumb stuck out like he's hitching a ride. But when I glanced in my rear view mirror after passing by, HE IS NOT THERE!!!!!! This happened about a month ago at the same time of night. Well tonight I said WTF and since there were no cars behind me, I slammed on my brakes, put it in reverse and backed up down the road to the dirt lane to see if he had walked back down to the farmhouse. Nope. He just disappeared! I'm wondering who the heck is this guy??? Where is he from??? And where the f*** did he go that fast??? Creeped me out!

I would research accidents and deaths on that road. Maybe he was a person who saw misfortune there in the past. And if you see him again...maybe ttryCAREFULLY to stop and talk. Maybe the fact that you've seen him twice means he has something to tell you. Just a thought :)

I live in the mountains of Virginia...Any area like mine so rich in history is going to be rich in creep, as well.

My sister died when she was 7. Her spleen ruptured. She died at home after a fall. We were just grateful it hadn't happened when she tripped the day before in her elementary school hall. I was 18 and in college. We shared a room when I was home but I always let her sleep with me. I'd been sleeping with her since she was five and moved into my room from the nursery. She missed me terribly when I went to college. My mother had dreams almost every night the month before she died that one of her children was going to die. It was a different one of us every time. The night my sister died, my mother dreamed my lost little brother (mother had a miscarriage between me and my brother, but didn't know if the baby was a boy or girl) walked my sister into Heaven. The day of the funeral we released baloons. Carla loved baloons. One that said "I love you" floated in front of me and stayed swaying right in front of my face for awhile before it went on its way. I had to leave.

****************

I have always had "dreams that come true". Just random, day to day things, but every detail is right. I know what people are going to say and do and where they're going to be. There are plenty of explanations - it's not actually something you dreamed before but a slight break in the way your memory works and it just seems like it happened before, for example. But I don't know. I choose to believe. :) Also, I'm never wrong about people. It's arguable whether this is intuition or an extra sharp sensory perception or just my cynicism cutting through people's bullshit, but again, i'm gonna go with the fact I have an extra honed sense of people's souls. lol

****************

There's a graveyard about an hour away with a tomb that will not stay closed. They've done everything to it and nothing works.

****************

There's a graveyard about a half an hour away where the devil walks. I'd say it's a demon at best, but the number of people who have seen him prove there's at least something there.

****************

My grandmother lived near Lake Shawnee Amusement park in WV. There are cold spots right on the deteriorated swing seats, native american chanting, voices and sounds, orbs in pictures, people have felt touches, the abandoned carnival rides have moved on their own, there is the apparition of a girl in pink who was killed on the rotating swing in the early 50s, there is also an apparition of a man on the ferris wheel at the 9 o'clock position. The current owner left his tractor on the property for awhile because the little girl seemed to like playing on the tractor.

An exerpt from a short article:

In October 2005, the park gained national attention due to the filming of ABC network's Scariest Places on Earth. During their time there, a psychic that was under contract by the network, refused to stay on the property due to the "spiritual energy being too strong." Also, film crew workers would not enter the filming location alone at night due to eerie feelings.

According to archaeologists, the area around Lake Shawnee was home to at least two separate Native American settlements before European settlers arrived. The Marshall and Concord Colleges joint dig in 1988 found that the Indian settlements were circular in arrangement and the Indians lived there for long periods of time. They think the settlement was abandoned several hundred years before the first white settlers arrived. They found 13 skeletons, mostly of young children. There may be as many as 3000 bodies of Native Americans buried on the property.

***************

Less than a mile from my house is the Molly Tynes' House.

In July of 1863 1000 Union soldiers left WV headed to Wytheville to destroy the train tracks. This would have stopped supplies from reaching Lee's army and other Confederate troops throughout VA. Molly's father learned their plans when they stopped to camp near his farm. Molly rode out that night to tell everyone from Tazewell to Wytheville the Union army was coming - supposedly waving her bonnet and screaming the warning as she rode through the mountains.

The house passed through several hands through the years, and there were the usual deaths. UNTIL...A man living in the home tried to kill his mother in law - now i'm sure that's not that unusual, but he had no idea afterwards why he got the urge to take a hatchet to his MIL at that time. He had no reason to be angry, but was unreasonably so toward his whole family for a period of three days. Suddenly, the feeling just cleared away and he was no longer angry.

Ever since then, certain people have had the same reaction. Some people are fine. No problems. My cousin lived there for a couple years. I stayed with her in the house. She and her family had no issues and laughed the haunting off as usual ridiculousness. It creeped me out big time, but I wasn't angry and didn't see or hear anything. I just felt weird.

A regional ghost hunting society - Black Diamond Paranormal Society - investigated in like 2011 I think. They found hot spots, what looked like a firey hand reaching out of the fireplace, cold spots, orbs, and voices and sounds. One of the investigators began feeling ill and had to leave the house. He says he got just furious with everyone in his life for no reason - even when he went home he was still livid at everyone and every thing. It lasted for three days then disappeared.

***************

There's a house about 20 minutes away that people swear the devil lives in. No one has ever stayed there longer than six months.

***************

There's a house about 15 minutes away that the owner will welcome you into. You enter a certain room, and something will call you by name and either slap or push you. Every person that's gone into the room has had it happen.

There are literally a hundred more stories I could tell you but these are probably way too many anyway...lol Needless to say, I definitely believe. lmao

This isn't creepy, but I do think it's an interesting and plausible notion. No doubt we've all had at least one deja vu experience. I certainly have. That odd feeling of re-experiencing something, of knowing what's coming next, etc. A few years ago a neurobiologist on NPR was talking about the phenomenon and believes that when we have that feeling, we are in fact having the experience a second time, it's just a millisecond after the first time we've had it. Usually, both hemispheres of our brain experience something at exactly the same moment, but this doctor posits that it is sometimes the case that there can be an infinitesimal lag, call it a delay in the corpus callosum, such that the information/experience hits each side of the brain separately, hence twice. We recognize that we're having it again, but don't realize that it was from a mere split second ago.

I must have disrupted the spirit I suspected was in my house. I've been painting and it's been my past experience that spirits become active during renovations. Not entirely sure why but....

Today I was at the sink washing dishes and I saw something out of the corner go from the stove to the corner of the peninsula. I was right there so I turned and looked quickly but saw nothing. I was thinking what a freak I was but then saw my tea ( which was steeping there) and the tag thing for the tea bag was moving.

I also saw what looked like my cat going out the door but she was on the couch. And there's been strange noises in empty rooms...so....yes the dogs can sleep with me tonight. Lol

This happened the other night at work! I walked into a patient's room, bed A was empty because the lady went home and bed B was empty because the lady had been sent out 911 before my shift started. I went in to close the blinds and pull the curtains since it was dark outside. Well just as I got to the window, the door slammed shut and the whole room turned cold as ice. I said "what the hell????" and went and opened the door. Of course nobody was around. They say the nursing home I work at is haunted, and lots of people, staff, patients, family, has seen or heard things. So later the supervisor told me the patient who went out was admited to the hospital, and I went in the room to turn the light out. A coworker was standing in the doorway while I went in the room and turned off the light, and as we turned away from the room to go down the hall, we both heard someone in the room laughing. We looked at each other and said who was that?! My coworker went back in and put the lights on and I looked in the bathroom but nobody was there.

I'm really glad I don't work nights. I can only imagine how many spirits are in my facility. Its been around since the late 60s

One day when i was driving home from work, i saw an old friend of mine, "G"..

G was a bodybuilder in his younger days and even though he was now in his 50's and gray, he looked amazing, but his health was not so good.

i saw G jogging down my street, which was SO odd because he lived in a nearby town, and his hair was now brown, not gray, and he looked young and vibrant. When i passed him i looked at him with confusion, and he looked at me and smiled, like "hey, dee".....

i went home and told my partner about the craziness of seeing my old friend, jogging, and how bizarre it was to see him in our neighborhood.

Well not long after that , my phone rang, it was a call to tell me that G had passed away the night before of a heart attack.

i definitely saw G that day, a day after he passed away.

Years ago, I would take an early morning walk on a path that is located at a golf course. I liked the nature setting, and the end of the path became a small bridge over a stream. At this last five minutes of the walk (where it becomes a small bridge), there were trees on both sides, it was secluded, and the golfers wouldn't be able to see this area of the path.

I walked there every day, at the same time...
One day, as I was walking, when I approached the secluded area of the path, a man in who looked to be in his 60's, with a potbelly all of a sudden I noticed came from nowhere and was walking next to me, at my pace.
He started a conversation with me and I mentioned to him that I wished the path didn't have all these leaves on it (it was covered almost completely by leaves).

The next day, I walked at a different hour, because I was spooked by his walking next to me the day before.
All the leaves had been removed except for one. (These were big leaves, about twice the length of a persons hand).
It felt too eerie and I chose to not walk there any more.

Years later, I was watching America's Most Wanted television show. I saw his photo shown and them saying he was a murderer, and asking for leads on if anyone had seen him.

I mentioned it to a friend who is a retired sheriff, and she said he had been casing me.. watching me as I walked there daily.

I'd point out to folks that I am very much a science geek, and do not 'believe in ghosts' etc as such. I simply believe that odd things sometimes happen for which we do not (yet) have the explanation. Here's the standout ones that I've experienced..

Thirty-odd years ago, and a good friend of mine is staying over at my flat; he was shifting between friends homes staying with each for a week or two, as he didnt have a place of his own. It was his habit to go for a walk in the late evening just before going to bed, and he invited me to join him on his walk one evening.

We'd walked across the grass surounding the flats and over the main road into the next estate with the intent of walking once around a park there then returning home. As we got to a green with a little stream and a few bushes scattered about, we stopped momentarily, chatting. I was looking across the green at the houses on the far side, the scene lit by street lamps. There was no moonlight, and teh sky was clear. We both gasped - the light level had suddenly dropped and remained down for about three seconds, the grassy area before us now appearing to be in darkness, rather than being poorly lit by teh street lamps by the surrounding houses. The streetlamps had not dimmed or flickered or turned out.

Suddenly, it was just as it had been before, lit dimly by the streetlamps. Neither of us had a clue as to what caused the effect, but he'd seen it as clearly as I, and to this day I cannot think of an explanation for that one.

A few years later, and I was going for an interview in High Wycombe, a town I had never been to before. As I left the train station, thinking I could do with a cup of tea to steady my nerves before the interview, I suddenly KNEW that just beyond the hump-backed bridge ahead - and out of sight - of me was a cafe with a white painted frontage with blue trim. As I got to the top of teh bridge, there it was, I could see it some thirty metres ahead, exactly as I'd forseen it perhaps ten-fifteen seconds before.

Nearly forty years ago, and I was working in an office. I had a dream in which I saw the pot plant in our office stood on top of a filing cabinet and visible behind the plant was a window into a small room - that didn't exist in our office at the time. I even remarked on thsi dream to someone at the time. Some weeks later, it was decided to move the minicomputer from the room across the hallway into our office, and create a little room for it in the corner of our office. The upper half of the wall facing into our office was glazed. Our boss decided to move the filing cabinet as I was doing my job of data entry. "There!" she said, having completed the job, placing the pot plant on top of the cabinet, in front of the window into our new little computer room - my jaw dropped when I looked up and saw it.

I've had quite a few instances of a sense of deja vu, most of which are readily explained by the notion that Ascot pointed out above, that one part of our brain is catching up with something another part has registered, but those three incidents stand out as being ones which are harder to explain. With the High Wycombe one, it's possible that my brain simply took a guess at what a cafe in that area might look like and hit lucky, but if so, its prediction was startlingly accurate. Even th dream - could just have been random luck that I dreamt what I did and it then came to pass - or something very like it. But that suddenly dark then suddenly re-lit green, I'm still scratching my head over. Any ideas?

It initially didn't occur to me that posting this would be worthy of doing. Just was a known situation in the ICU in which I worked several years back, but saw this thread while bored and this similar post.

This was a very busy ICU with a continuous flow of patients in and out by various means (mainly transfer to lower level care or death). On several nights when having the rare empty bed, we would see a heart rhythm on the monitor. When first experiencing this, I checked the central desk monitor then went to the bedside monitor to check for malfunction. No cause for this was ever discovered. It would happen periodically and I mentioned it to other nurses who shared that they had seen it happen before. It didn't occur on the same monitor each time, and it was a different rate and rhythm each time. We just accepted it as fact that since we had many deaths in our unit, it was probably inhabited by several spirits and remnants. None of these potential spirits had done anything negative to the staff. The only thing I felt could have been attributed to an unseen force, was a calm that would come into a room often where we were having a code blue. It felt like something took away the acute adrenaline response in the staff allowing them to function more effectively.

Once I had a horrible argument with my ex husband. I was standing in the hallway crying really hard. Suddenly i heard a voice say, "everything will be all right." And I immediately knew it was my maternal grandmother speaking to me, though I never heard her voice because she died the week I was born.

I don't believe in ghosts nor angels, but I heard her voice that day when I was crying uncontrollably.

I’d love to bump this thread for some new stories! I’ll post as well. It’s just hard writing lengthy things from my phone..

Yesterday at work, a coworker threw a huge hissy (conniption) fit, over a simple mistake I made when I checked out a client. She knew it was simple to fix on the iPad/airPad, but she kept up with her very bad behavior. But it all backfired on her because the client waiting on me during her hissy fit?? They gave me a generous tip for being kind despite the mistreatment by my coworker.

Clients waiting for me, who observed this childish temper tantrum creepy stuff, gave me really thoughtful compliments and tips, and one client bought a lot of products from my recommendations I spoke about during their service request.

It just goes to show that if you take the high road, and not get ensnared in another person’s creepy behavioral choices, then you reap the positive consequences of a very unattractive situation.
