Greetings Planet People,

Do you have a New Years resolution?

Is there something that you would like to leave behind or something new to create?

Burn off the old and ring in the new. Lets see what we are all up to.

My main resolution is to say goodbye to negativity in any form, be it negative people or things.

What about you?

2012 has been a challenging year for me. Through the challenges I have tried to live in gratitude. My resolution for 2013 is to daily find at least one thing/concept/object to be grateful for AND to share my gratitude with one other person.

As of the first...I am planning to change to a plant based diet....I want to juice for at least a month straight just to cleanse..

I want to start running...I want to train for hiking the Appalachian trail next March...I'm not getting any younger...and it's a dream of mine.

I'm going to get all my big classes out of the way this year that are holding up applying for RN school. I'm already scheduled for Anatomy and Physiology for the end of January. Then I have to take part 2 of that class and Microbiology...and 2 tiny other classes.. One of which I'm taking this semester also. (English) I refuse to take 2 major bios at once :|

I want to learn to knit....

I am going to read more once my surgery is done...

That is my list... :)

I love New Years Resolutions, and I tend to keep them. (Trick is to keep them realistic) Last year's was to wear out my passport, check :)
This year, I have decided is my selfless acts year. I always volunteer, it is just who I am, but this year Im taking it to a whole new level. First big plan, is to go with my aunt and uncle to Guatemala and do mission type work at a couple different special needs orphanages there, also with the foster children and families. Flights are purchased, just a few more things to do in order for this to be concrete. Second is to volunteer at the local food bank or somewhere along that line, I will decide the third big for the year, later in the year. I have also signed up to be the parent volunteer for my daughters grad trip. It is going to be a good year :)

Well I haven't really thought about this but now that I am let me list what I really want to change or accomplish in 2013

1......get my diabetes under control

2.......lose another 50 lbs or so

3.......be.more active physicaly

4........number 3 should help with 1 to 3

5.........read more

6.........decide and start looking at going back to school to finish my degree

7.........love ms cinn like there is no tomorrow to make sure she NEVER forgets the depth of my love for her. I think this should be number 1. Hell it IS my number 1

One is to keep my environment(s) in better order. I've already begun, in cleaning out the Walk-In Closet of Doom.

Read this quote today and think it might be fitting to post here :)

“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.

Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're Doing Something.

So that's my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody's ever made before. Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or it isn't perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.

Whatever it is you're scared of doing, Do it.
Make your mistakes, next year and forever.”
― Neil Gaiman

So perhaps my New Year's Resolution is to make mistakes :)

Somewhere in my bones I remember to read this every year.

The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference.
The opposite of art is not ugliness, it's indifference.
The opposite of faith is not heresy, it's indifference.
And the opposite of life is not death, it's indifference.
Elie Wiesel

My New Years Resolution ?
To honor emotion, look at the world with open eyes and open heart, to embrace life, all of it. To leave the trail behind me not one of indifference, but one of intentional and deliberate acts of kindness and caring.
To stop stifling pangs of lonliness, shunning the echo of of failures, turning my back on forgiveness and feeling beaten by my circumstance. I will Stop. With mind reeling frustrations and heart defended blurs of detachment - I will stop seeking indifference.

Make indifference an ethereal place, an invisible unattainable state of non-being. I will drop the homogeny of bravado and charade and actually feel an emotion, pick one, any one...

My wish for the New Year...
May indifference be diffused and may we feel an array of emotions... may we embrace life and start caring about those around us. May we feel the exhilaration of success and the basking warmth of love; may we feel the aches and pains of loss, standfast during unnerving conflict and the carry the lessons, fears and failures with us as we make our way.
May we recognize those dim embers of hope that remain, fan the sparks of emotion and desire and live an engaged, intentional and deliberate life.

May we embrace the compassion that makes us humane.

Our time passes so quickly, bless the passing of 2012 and Happy New Year !

Wow what a year I've had! I am happy that it's over. Time to let go of the old and start with the new.

So my new year's resolutions are and in no particular order...

Cook more at home.

Learn to relax, breathe, and just let things happen.

Learn to take care of me more.

Do something fun at least once a week.

Learn to like Oklahoma. I'm here...for now.. I might as well search out the good things.

I don't believe in making New Year's resolutions. For me they never work out.
I just wanted to leave a message for everyone.

My New Year's resolution is to be less of an introvert, try to actually leave my house more often, and try to meet new people. The perfect butch or guy isn't going to land on my lap while I watch Mad Men on Netflix.

Although my Dad went to heaven, 2012 was a great year for me. The pain is still fresh and stings from the lost, but I know it was time, and I know he is happy and well and always with me. And it won't always feel like this.
I had some excellent adventures and made some awesome memories. In fact some of the the best memories of my life were made this year!!!!
I made some sound smart investments, and life is good.
I am not one to make resolutions I just improve as required. lol
I am looking forward to 2013 , I know it will be an even better year yet. Because I will make sure that is exactly what happens.
I am grateful for all the love and abundance in my life ,and see it only getting bigger and better.
I'm happy, healthy and ready for all the new adventures this year surely holds.
2013 lets rawk!!! 13 has always been a lucky number for me.

Ringing in the new year is always bitter sweet for me.

The way my life has shifted from one year into the next is always semi intense. It's not necessarily a bad thing, it's just hard for me to pick a focus when change is constant. I tend to make resolutions with good intentions on keeping them only to find myself breaking up with them a month or two later.
This is particularly frustrating for me because self care is major priority to me - whether it's physical, emotional or spiritual.

I've had some time to think about this in preparation for this evening and I've simply concluded that I cannot just make a resolution for the "upcoming year". I have to devote myself to something long term as well.

Here's what I've come up with.
- To leave the situation I'm in. I love my partner dearly, I just can't continue to love somebody who doesn't love me with the same respect or depth.
- Allow myself to indulge once in awhile. I don't want to go back to the days of complete impulse buying for stuff I don't need, but I DO want to feel like I deserve to treat myself.
- Let my freak flag fly. I've been confined way too long. It's time to feel free. I make my own decisions. Oh and nobody gets access to my closet ever again. You embrace me for who I am or you get shown the door.
- No more negativity. I'm not talking about somebody having a bad day, or myself having a string of bad days. I mean that rotten soul crushing negativity that makes your entire self tingle. I cringe at the sight of drama.
- I'd like to learn meditation on a higher level to keep myself at peace & find a way to connect to my spiritual side.
- I'm committing myself to being more active in the community & to educate myself on how to get involved with some of the issues our brothers and sisters are facing.
- I believe that life is about the adventure. My last resolution is to enjoy new experiences I've been wanting to have or those I didn't realize I wanted to try out, but waited on somebody else to share them with me.

New Years Resolutions can be tricky I think, simple but still challenging.... I want to better myself always, and make progress in some way. I try and break them into categories.

My Health...
... I will revive my body using a change in diet (go back to eating how I used to, less carbs, more fresh and natural foods)
... I will strive take a weekly meditation walk where I can be surrounded by nature and allow the baggage of life to lift away from me.

My Future...
... I will continue my education by starting a bachelors program in teaching

My Faith...
... I will find a way to be active in a spiritual community, no matter the obstacles, because I understand that community opens the soul and allows for growth and courage.
... I will remember to practice privately with more regularity in an effort to keep my spiritual focus at home and in all I do

I don't have quantitative goals for a reason. I try not to live life about the numbers, but about the experience and quality. I also try and remind myself regularly that goals are only starting points for progress, they may change and change is good, so long as you continue moving in a positive manner.

Happy New Years Planeteers!!!

I don't really do new year resolutions
What I will say is bring on this new year, I'm ready

At the top of my list of what really isn't a resolution, is change...my move out of OKC will happen in 2013
All I need is a place accepting of my rescues and I believe the rest will fall into place
Also for 2013, I want to find love again, not just any kind of love, I want true love, deep love, so I can fall in love love

That's about it, I'm a simple person with simple needs
No sense in asking for more than that heading into 2013
Everything else after that would be like icing on a cake I wasn't even expecting

my only change is to include a Gratitude of the day thought at the end of each day, and to write it.

We did this a couple of years ago, and i enjoyed it, so i am going to do it again.

My resolution ---stop trying to understand why things happen. Be it to me or someone else. To know that there is a bigger picture and I do not walk through this world alone. My help is with me and always has been. Why should I fear anything or anyone... it is time to lay my burdens down. Time to let go of guilt, shame, anger, and above all resentment.

Well, Closet of Doom has been conquered! I pulled everything out and sorted it into general categories (including trash and giveaways):

Books-Oh Lordy, there be books here
Tools, and the nearly empty tool box
A huge tower of Playstation and Wii games
Things for the memory box, which will go to the storage shed.
Old tax returns. Yeah, that was really effective filing.
My huge stash of word puzzles, crosswords, logic problem books, and Sudoku. I love them and thought they keep my mind sharp. I may have to reevaluate.

The Closet of Doom has been subdued, and now I have the Bedroom of Doom. Well, Bedroom of Doom was heading that way anyway, for um, other reasons, but that's another post .

Happy New Year, everyone!

It's cold out there. It's been as low as -38C with the windchill this winter, and Saskatoon recently reelected a mayor who wants housing to go to rich people and negated a food charter.

In 2013, I will have very little time to give, but I want to redouble my efforts in supporting the Food Bank and the Friendship Inn. I hope perhaps it will help someone come in out of the cold.

Happy New Year, everyone!

Oh gui this post just made my day. "The Bedroom of Doom". A classic for sure.

I love all of these posts!

Thank you all for sharing your thoughts, hearts, intentions and spirits here. It makes a rough holiday season much brighter for me.

Here is to a new year that is filled with love, peace and happiness for all of us. May we learn, grow, succeed, prosper and become wiser each day. May loving kindness find a way to our hearts every day, not just on some days. May we all know the richness of friendship, especially in times of need. May we all be in gratitude for what is good and learn from our disappointments. Most of all may we all know deep within our hearts that we are worthy of love, friendship and good fortune.

May the sun illuminate your path as you move into 2013.

Big love to you all Planet friends

I want a new larger home. Yes, I do. I am postponing opening my second store so I can work on acquiring and moving.

I typically don't make New Year's resolutions. But last year, I became older than I ever intended to be.....I was put on blood pressure AND cholesterol medicine. So I have made a few resolutions, well one resolution and progression on a couple of things I have been slowly adjusting.

1. I am quiting tobacco again. After years of being quit, it was stupid to ever start back and I think it is a definite contributor to my high blood pressure.
2. I am moving more. Not even shooting for exercise here, just movement. And I'm making The Boy do it too.
3. We are eating healthier. More organic, MUCH less carbs, and more juices so at least we get some fruit and vegetables in our day.

By the end of 2013 I AM going to be off both of my meds and The Boy and I ARE going to be at least 30 pounds lighter.

So mote it be.

Happy New Year!

Resolution(s) :)

There are a couple of books I'm going to sink my mind into. ;)
Not buy anything I "want" for 90 days. ( I did this last year and saved some $$)
Organize, organize and then more...start with your clothes closet Unique!
Drink more water and eat less carbs!

Now that it's in post, lets see how it goes..lets bump back in 30 days..lol

I don't usually make new year's resolutions - I don't feel confident that I'll be able to keep them. However, I've decided the trick is to make them measurable and achievable. I have two so far and will think about it and add some more.

* I'm going to go to a beauty salon once a month - get my nails and whatever else done. I don't do it regularly because I think I don't deserve it or because my fingers are in a mess. I do deserve it and I enjoy it. So I'm going to do it!

* I'm going to write one gratitude a day and something positive.

I hope throughout 2013 I pay more attention...to everything. The food I eat, the places I shop, the products I bring into my house, the medications that go into my body, the people I love, the people I invite in to share my life, and my heart.

I also want to work harder at being present. The world rushes at a pace I just cannot comprehend anymore. I yearn for simplicity, less clutter, and more light in my physical environment and in my mind.

That is what I want to work on this year.

I couldn't have said it better. Paying attention and being present are key for me. I also want to keep working on my business goals but in a way that finds deeper balance. I want to be strong and healthy enough to do things here at the farm I have not been able to do myself.

I want to raised bees and make honey.
I want to update my house.
