Curious if we have any other vapor-ers out there in BFP-land?
I quit smoking over 2 weeks ago and Jackhammer got me the ego-C stick and a supply of nicotine-free juice.
This is my setup:
http://www.sincityesmoke.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/product_full/sinister-ego-c-blk-wht-pair.jpg
I am currently using a juice called "Black Tea" from myvaportstore.com and it is AWESOME. GREAT smoke, not tangy at all, and tastes wonderful!
Talk to me!

I got Justin the Blu package to help her stop smoking. She isn't *quite* ready yet, but she will be vaping soon! She did about 2 months a few months back on a vapor cig, but fell back into old habits. I will tell her about this thread!

I am strictly sticking to zero-nicotine juices but Jackhammer got her own stick and some low-nicotine juice. She LOVES it and plans to wean herself down from the 18mg nicotine juice over the next few weeks.
Another Vaper! SWEET!
Ooooooops..... Wrong vaporers. LOL

Have vaped for three years now. Went from a two to three pack a day habit. Once i found the nic level i needed it was no problem switching.
Between Wolfsgirl and myself there are several pvs (personal vaporizer) around here. Everything from various egos to her GLV to my mini nova. Got a beautiful handmade black palm electric pipe too. Really love my variable voltage devices for that big hit!
We both use tank systems now. Only have to buy cartos and juice every month. We get juice from our buddy at deejstuff.com. Puffing away on caramel cappuccino cheesecake!

I've been doing a lot of looking into this lately. I have a friend that gave me a link for vaporshark. I do believe that will be the one i go with when i order. I have seen so many people talk of having good results with quitting using the e-cigs. It gives me hope that when i get mine. I will finally be able to kick this habit for good. Good luck to y'all.

If you want a good resource, try the electronic cigarette forum. (would put the link but don't want to run afoul of any rules) they have an excellent new members area as well as sub forums for certified venders. Helps to know who is reliable. I researched for over a month before i finally bought my first kit myself.

I'm a member over there too! Same here, lots of research and am still over there reading for an hour a day for the last week.
I just ordered from Heathers Heavenly Vapes (she gets great reviews) and am thinking of getting another pv - probably the mini nova because you are now the 5th person I've seen talk about it.

Admin.. That's actually where Wolfsgirl and i first met. Won the mini nova. Like it...good solid pv. Find myself using my vision spinner (ego type) most days though. Think my next purchase will be a vaporluxe from ace of vapes. Had a fistpack that i loved with the exact same design that gave up the ghost.

What's your favorite juice?
I've only tried 3 so far, all from myvaporstore.
One was a strawberry watermelon - very good
Black Tea - current fave
and Mint - nice but nothing special
The ones I have ordered from Heather are Cherry Bomb, Cinful Pear, Blueberry Muffin, Vapin' Chimp, and Butter Rum.
I suspect that Butter Rum and Vapin' Chimp will be mixed together if I decide to get gourmet about it! LOL

We mix and match all the time too. Currently we get all our juice from deejstuff. I'm stuck on his caramel cappuccino cheesecake, apocalyptic cinnamon blast and sweet lil tarty thing. Wolfsgirl leans more towards tiramisu, English toffee and some fruit flavors. She has one of his creations named for her. Jenn's Juice that's a white grape, peach and mango mix.

Gaige and I both vape, we were doing quite well with it before Reunion...and we are both on the verge of becoming jull-time vapers again...Mainly, because I don't want to be huffing and puffing when I start hiking again this spring, Gaige likes to workout too, and we are both tired of the cost. We are currently using Blu, I like how tiny the cartridge and filter are, because I can vape in secret, also I like the blue light, because it doesn't alarm the alarmist type non-smokers and the ex-smokers into confronting me.
I think I saw Strappy with the one that you have on your post Medusa, or one that is similar. I do like that it lasts much longer, and the liquid seems like a cheaper option. I'm also concerned about all of these cartridges and batteries, and their future affect on a planet already bogged down with crap that is harmful and not recyclable. So, I like hearing about how you are doing with that brand.
I just googled the ego-C, and watched a video from a smoker that drags deep on a cig like I do, and it seems that I will stick with my Blu for now.
I wonder if Strappy could tell me, are you able to drag hard on your brand, or do you have to drag lightly on that one too?
Admin
01-22-2013, 10:02 PM
I can get a pretty good drag on my ego-C but I have the bigger upgraded battery. I think it allows for a harder pull.
Thing I love is that a little bottle of juice for $6 lasts me a long, LONG time. The strawberry watermelon juice was all I had for the last week and a half and I have been vaping on it multiple times a day and have only used about 1/3 of it. I don't treat mine like a true cigarette but I puff on it quite a bit!
I'm reading up on all of it some more and am totally fascinated by vape culture!

OMD...I have just fallen down the rabbit hole of vape culture. I had no idea. I wish someone could talk to me, listen to what I want, and tell me which one would work best for my needs. The more I read, the more complicated it all seems. I need a vape consultant. STAT :|
I'm listening to the guy in the video below, and I am looking up the things he is talking about, and my head is getting a little spinny, and my brain is feeling overstimulated...Perhaps I should revisit this information when my brain has fully rested...Yikes.

chrissy vapes. When he blows real smoke, so do I...cant stand the smell in the house. Even tho he only smokes in the sub den, it filters upstairs. Dammit.
I often thought about trying it. I quit smoking back in 1996, and before that, I had quit for several years. (I smoked for 6 months in 1996 when my mom died). So I have been off real cigarettes for a long time. But, I loved smoking..and the flavors I am reading are enchanting me...

Hi, I'm Jenn and I'm a vaper. :D
I've been vaping for about three years. I started with a Blu, then went to an Ego, then to mods, now I use my GLV mini. Vaping is kind of a hobby with TWolf and I. We have several Egos, her pipe, an apex, my GLV, that pipe bomb looking thing she has, a fist pack that needs to go to the shop, and more liquid than we could use in a year.
I got to smell the crab juice at vapestock a few years ago. I wasn't brave enough to actually try it.

Started vaping a little over a month ago. Did my research and went with Apollo e-cigs. I got a couple of disposables first, to see if I would go for it, and go for it I did.
I picked my brand mostly cause they've gotten pretty decent (good) reviews and they're made in the SF Bay area (yay for supporting local business).
I'm totally into vaping now. I have 3 co-workers who vape and we do the whole "let's go outside". I keep the social ritual without breathing in the burning material. I'm all good with it.
Since I'm pretty new to vaping, I've limited myself to the already packaged cartomizers. I've purchased tobacco and just got the 'variety' pack. The flavors I've tried are:
Tobacco (my fave so far)
Vanilla (pretty good)
Menthol (very nice)
Coffee (surprisingly good, I'm not a coffee drinker)
Haven't tried the Cherry yet, it kinda scares me.

To vape, or not to vape, that is the question...And yes, I vape!!! I started about 6 months ago.
I use the eGo-T Joyetech tank system. It's pretty cool having more than one tank. I bought different color tanks: red, yellow, blue and purple. You can find these at: www.joyetech.com (http://www.joyetech.com)
I love this contraption and feel as though I'm smoking out of this bad ass thing somewhat of a pipe (which doesn't resemble a pipe at all) but it's also about oral fixation with me. Between the color tanks and the tips that also resemble that of a larger type tiparillo...Me likey....
I tried the nicotine based liquid (also found at the joyetech website) but found it was too strong even with the lowest dosage of nicotine in it. I noticed after 2 days or so it started to hurt when I would regularly breathe in. I was disappointed because I was really diggin' vaping and I ended up stopping because of that.
After researching many liquids I came across a website: www.altcig.com (http://www.altcig.com) and saw that they have water based E-liquid vapor (without nicotine) even better! There were many flavors to choose from and the flavors have customer reviews which are very helpful.
I have a wicked sweet tooth and found the E-liquid Candy category...OMFG I'm in heaven!!
If anyone is interested in the tank system, I highly recommend going to the joytech website that I noted above.
For the liquids I HIGHLY recommend www.altcig.com. (http://www.altcig.com.)
Also, The people are very cool to deal with at Alt Cig. When you order the liquid(s) they also send you a complimentary "gift" which is neatly wrapped in a small plastic bag with a label that reads "a gift for you Vape happy :) " which they include a random liquid flavor just for doing business with them whether you purchase big or small. They also sign their names to the invoice and thank you for your business. I find this to be great customer service and if you have specific questions, you are free to email the establishment and they pleasantly get back to you right away.
Ok, now here are the flavors that I have: Ripe Strawberry (MY FAVORITE!!!!) The others I purchased but have not tried as of yet are: Jolly Watermelon (being the watermelon jolly rancher addict that I am), Sweet Tangerine, and Top of the Muffin Blueberry.
I can't wait to try these flavors, but am so happy with vaping the Strawberry at this time.
I'm off to indulge in my strawberry aromatic, Vape system!!
Happy Vaping Folks!:hangloose:

Scorp... Just to clarify...no eliquid is "water based". Water is used to thin the mix sometimes but is never the main ingredient. The main ingredients are pg (propelene glycol-used in asthma inhalers) and/or vegetable glycerin with food flavoring and nicotine. Altcigs does list water as one of their ingredients though.
Good to see so many trying ecigs!

Some E-juice places will tell you the proportions of PG to VG, and I've found a few that have a 0 nicotine option. From what I've been reading VG gives more vapor and PG does that throat hit thing. The stuff I use is 60/40 PG to VG and what I like best is the throat hit, the flavor's nice too.

My liquids are most all 70/30. I like the vapor but am much more concerned about taste and throat hit!
I'm ALLLL about the candy flavors but even found a deep love of the Black Tea I posted about. I mixed it with a little peach and it is completely divine!
When I get my order from Heather's Heavenly, I'll report back on the ButterRum!!

I am doing it ( and got the 12mg which seems strong enough ,so far)
and have only had two real cigarettes today
I bought south beach smoke only because I really don't know
much about them yet .
they are already leaking at the connection place
which sucks
I love not having to worry about a lighter and not having
that PANIC feeling when you are down to your last cigarette :twitch:
I have smoked so long , I have told myself if this really works, :praying:
I will buy the zero nicotine ones for the rest of my life
to have with my coffee, after eating and sex. snort ;)

I use mine for craving times as well and it has helped tremendously! Having something in my hand when I'm driving and after eating has really helped cut down on the cravings.
I was getting really fidgety when I would have to walk Gracie because I would usually smoke but I started taking my vape out with me and it totally cured my jitters. Just being able to inhale made my routine feel like normal.
Luck to you!!!

Wolfsgirl uses 16mg. I started out with 18mg but that wasn't enough to quieten my cravings. Once i upped the nicotine level to 24mg i was finally able to put the cigs away for good. I've dropped down to 20 mg over time. Don't ever plan to quit or go to zero nic though. Besides studies have shown that nicotine by itself is beneficial. Nicotine helps with mild depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and short term memory. That's part of why some of us go nuts when trying to quit cold turkey.
It's the fidgety jitters that have always got me smoking again.
One time , I was so uncomfortable with all the skin crawling withdrawal
jonesing I nearly convinced myself that playing bumper cars while driving
was a perfect idea. I was thinking horrible things and scared myself.
Prison or smoke basically.
That did not happen to me once today.
I am smoking my third real cigarette of the day and it really does not taste good.
I bought $100 worth of 12 mg which was kind of dumb and way too many.
oh They aren't leaking , I have discovered intentional holes that might get some duct tape slapped on them. heh
What I am looking for is a lighter gadget for sure ,with a smaller tip
and I would like it to be white and have a nice menthol. ( and choc)
I have read a few places that menthol smokers usually smoke for life because
it is a dual addiction. I dunno if its true but it feels true :twitch:
I have also noticed the chocolate flavor helps curb my intense desire for chocolate.
Someone told me they duct taped one emergency cigarette in a pack,
they were actually able to quit for good and still have it in their car 10 years later.
He said by the time he found something to cut into it with and was halfway
there , he would change his mind and add another layer of duct tape.
It was the knowing it was there that brought comfort.
I like comfort, so I'm gonna try it.
:]

Jackhammer needs to get in here and talk about her experience! Her last dip of Snus was 3 days ago and she has been vaping 18mg since then with zero cravings or jitters.
I have to also say, she has tried to get off of Snus and cigarettes before during our relationship and I always dreaded it because she is a mean little man when crabbed out. She has been pleasant so far!
She plans to step down her nicotine over time but is loving the Cuban cigar flavor :)
She loves sweet things as well (which is why she married me! LOL) so I took a chance and ordered her a pomegranate vape and she just hit it and LOVES it.
Also have a chocolate mint and a coffee flavor coming.
I'll admit, I went a little ape shit last night with Scorp on the phone and ordered a buttload of vape liquid. We have about 20 different flavors coming in the next week and I am anxious to see how we like them!
Tried one called "Minty mint" from myvaporstore.com and it is, indeed, very minty. It has a strange low note on the aftertast that I haven't quite figured out. Something akin to paper, but I don't mind it yet. I dropped a littlle peach into it to cut it and it's delightful!
Congrats to the new vapers!
P.S. Scorp and I were on the phone for hours last night and this was the main topic of conversation!!

I use an old humidor to store our juice. We probably have 20 different flavors at any time. Often get some empty sample size bottles so we can share different liquids with the new vapors we know. As long as you keep your liquid stores out of sunlight and extreme temps, it should last about a year.
You might look into finding a group of vapors in your area. They will hold vape meets usually once a month where people can try new flavors, ask questions, and check out all the ecigs out there. Helped start a group when i lived in KY. We've been thinking of checking out the one in Memphis.

Interesting I found this thread this evening, I just went to a vap store here in Lincoln today!
I have been researching this for a week or so. used to have an Ecig in London, but started hard core smoking with all the break up stress so here I am almost a year single and thought I should get of the cigs, at the store they had a CE4 I think it is, with the refillable canister. I want nicotine! bot not the smoke and tar and other crap. I did like the e cig before but it was one with the nicotine in a little filter and only got a few good hits of of it then nothing seemed a waste. anyway I am going to go back now and read the rest of the thread! OH. MY. GAWD.
I just got my most recent order of vape juice from ecblends.com in the mail and the first thing I did was pour up some "Banana Bread" into a new cartomizer.
UM.
OH. MY. GAWD. is it ever DELICIOUS! It is the most delicious juice I have tried yet and I will definitely be going back for more!!!!!
YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMYYYYYYY. It's making me want to bake!
I also received caramel cheesecake, mint chocolate chip, dragons apple, dragons bloood, Strawberry malt, cuban sunset, and my "create your own" custom juice blend called "Twatwaffle".
"Twatwaffle" smells delcious and it's going into one of my tanks next!!
I actually quit with Blu in about 2 months. I am now at no nicotine. My fav Blu flavors are Pina Colada and Vivid Vanilla. Just ordered more cartridges that will last at least 4-5 months. One side note: do NOT launder them!! I forgot mine in the pocket. The one smokes yet with a heavier draw and the other took a constant draw. Lol! I threw both out and bought new batteries...figured was safer that way. Lol!!

I hear you on using your vapes to help quit!
I had my last cigarette almost a month ago. Went cold turkey with no nicotine products so Jackhammer ordered an ego-c for me but made sure to get juice with zero nicotine because I didnt want to take the chance on getting nicotine again after having detoxed from it.
The saving grace for me has been being able to have somethig in my hand to keep me busy. The flavors have also had another added, positive side effect: I have found then when I can vape something delicious in place of a sugar craving, I can often get through that craving without munching on real food. It's an amazing thing!
I want a holster for all this gear I'm gonna end up with
twatwaffle? intrigued ,yes I am

Here's the recipe for "Twatwaffle":
70/30 PG/VG blend
50% Amaretto
30% Black Cherry
20% Belgian Waffle
It has to steep for a week before I smoke it but it smells like some kind of awesomely nutty cherry cobbler.
I am back on EC Blends ordering more custom blends. I just made one called "Dripping Slit" and another called "Thundercunt".
Yes, it's vulgar but there is method to my madness ;)

I tried ecigs for awhile. I can't remember where I got it. Something with King in the name. It was ok. I am not sure I would like the favors but Black Tea sounds intriguing as that is my favorite drink. I like cigarette flavor! Are there any that taste like American Spirit Blues?
What should I get to start?

I've never vaped a cigarette flavor, Julie, but I did see a bunch of folks talking about all of the cigarette flavors available and some of them say that there are some very, very good ones available.
For any flavor you want, there will be a store that has it! I have ordered from 5 different stores and they each seem to have their own vibe. Some carry very generic "something for everyone" flavors but, for instance, aliceinvapeland.com carries several that are tea-based and she gets RAVE reviews on the vape forums. I just ordered the sampler pack that has all of her juice line!

So happy for this thread and a place to read the experiences folks are having. Especially with vendors and products. Thank you.
I must move on from cigarettes and I've been unsuccessful in the past. I can relate to the oral fixation, need something to do with my hands and the ability to maintain a habit of breathing that others have shared. I'm not one to relax or take time for myself. And if I am going to give up my source of a "break" I'm not going to be real successful.
So far feeling a wee bit overwhelmed by the amount of information and stuff to learn. Going nicotine free as well. So far I am curious about the PV/VG blend stuff. I like the hit of a cigarette but have multiple allergies. So I am thinking for that reason give up the hit and try the all VG stuff (ecblends.com has some organic liquid to try).

I have a question or 2 about flavors, the guys said they can put nicotine in to any flavor I wantor mix up a flaover for me , the 10 mil bottles are about 5 bucks 30 mil are $10
I thought I would try some flavors first before going with the bigger bottle
My question is this,
Are the black tea flavor or coffee flavor sweet?
and is there a coconut flavor, like was thinking a blend of coconut and maybe some other flavor
are the fruit flavors sweet too
I think I want something a little sweet but not gag me with sweetness
I do like all the gadnetlyness of it all and the tecdh of it,very cool!

YAAAYYY!! Another convert!
As far as sweetness, different companies are very different with their flavors. I ordered the black tea flavor from myvaporstore.com:
http://www.myvaporstore.com/eLiquid_Black_Tea_p/liq-bt.htm
I found that it was a super smooth, authentic black tea flavor that reminded me of the Tazo brand "Awake" black tea. There is the tiniest hint of pekoe or orange in it which gives it an authentic sweetness but not a sugary/syrupy sweetness.
I ordered a "Peach" liquid from the same store. While it's a nice flavor, I am finding that as my vape pallet ages, the peach is a little too fake for my taste and it tastes like it's got some sucralose in it.
Many manufacturers DO put sucralose in their liquids which can make them super sweet.
I havent tried any of the coffee flavors yet but Jackhammer got one from another vendor and it does smell exactly like strong black coffee with no sugar.
Most every vendor has a coconut in their line but I have heard rave reviews about the one from ecblend and also Heather's Heavenly Vapes.
I can't WAIT until Reunion so we can do our Vape Meet! I am going to load up my vape box and bring it! Already ordered some "friend tubes" so everyone can have their own tip and try new flavors!

After reading more of this thread, I've come to realize that the vaporizer I use is a little different than most if not all of what is being discussed here.
Mine has what I suppose could pretty much be called a bowl, a compartment into which I put whatever it is I want to vaporize, the content gets heated and its essence is released. I have discovered a really good herbal blend that helps with migraines, and I know there are all sorts of different ailments that can be helped through vaporizing. I've never been a cigarette smoker, so I can't speak to it from that perspective, but for ganja and other herbs, it's great. I love that I can use it and go out for a run the next day and not feel any of that lung heaviness that comes from smoking.

I will have to do some more research, in to flavors, I think I would like the tea and coffee flavors slightly sweetened, I noticed on the heather site they have a java that looks like it might be sweet and cream I think the coconut I would just like a slight bit in a tobaco blend
we shall see, all very exciting thanks for all the info!

Wow! Wonderful to see all the new posts in here since i last peeked in!
Vape meets - started a group when i lived in KY through the e-cig forum. There were only three of us the first few times. Now they have over 30 regular participants meeting once a month to swap info, juice, and support. Jenn and i have also been to one of the national vape meets in FL. Over 200 vapers with dozens of vendors participating in a weekend event. Was a blast!
Sweetness - some venders sweeten their flavors, some don't. Some give the option and let you decide how many "spoonfuls". You can purchase plain sweetener to add your own to taste as well. There are also options at some venders to add a "cold" using koolada or more throat hit.

Might want to get a small bottle of each flavor and mix a bit in an empty bottle first. That will let you know if the flavors play well together. If you pay attention to how much of each you add to reach the flavor you like, you would be able to give them a good idea of how to mix it. (1/3 this one...) Found out the hard way that not everything mixes well.

WEEE!
I ordered from Heather's Heavenly Vapes and wanted to give a review on a couple of flavors:
Blueberry Muffin (0 nic - 70/30 blend)- Holy Shit. If your granny made a huge batch of moist, delicious blueberry muffins and you were able to huff the vapor out of the oven while they were almost done - This would be it. This flavor is a tiny bit buttery, a lot of blueberry, and very dense. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE.
Cinful Pear - (0 nic - 70/30) - Ooooohhhhhhhhhhh great pear preserves in the sky! This is probably my new favorite (for a few days at least!). I don't know how they captured a juicy golden ripe pear in this flavor but they did...and it's freaking AWESOME. Also, there is a heavy cinnamon note so it's like a luscious cup of the best pear preserves. The cinnamon gives it a GREAT throat hit and the exhale is like a long ride in a pear orchard. NICE.

EEK!
I forgot! I also ordered "Butter Rum" from Heather's Heavenly!
Butter Rum - (0nic - 70/30) - This one needs to steep a little more. Has a mildly soapy flavor that I don't lurve at all. I read on one of the e-cig forums that other's had this complaint as well but I've noticed it gets better the more I leave it alone. The flavor does, indeed, have a lot of buttery and rummy goodness but the soapy flavor gives it a really acrid, almost metallic taste.
I'll report back on this one in a week or two and let you all know!

I hate it when liquids have a soapy, or perfumy taste. Sometimes letting it steep helps, but there are some that no amount of time will help.
I got Deejstuff caramel corn in my tank now. Yummy.

I just started getting juice, my first (and currently only as the others are on the way) is an RY4 - a tobacco based with caramel. I tried it out and it was mehh... but 5 days later, WOW this shit is great!
I use a pen style (no ego) and have a question for you eGO folks using clearomizers/cartomizers. How do you deal with changing flavors? Do you rinse out the clearomizer? Do you let the 'old' flavor evaporate before adding new?
I'm thinking of getting an ego with 2 or 3 clearomizers once my pen style batteries give up.

With clearo/cartomizers, I just use one flavor until the carto burns out. Some people have several going at one time, each with a different flavor. Some people choose to use flavors that compliment each other, and just add the new on top of the old.
Cartos can be cleaned, but it is a hassle. At about a dollar each, I use one for about a week, then toss it.

Sitting here with my ecig order.... I was wondering when to quit cigarettes. Seems like a blizzard is a good time.
So I have a joyetech 510. Seemed like a reasonable start. I am going with nicotine free blends/flavors. And low or no PG since I have some allergies.
Ordered 5 blends from ecblends.com. They sent a free one. It was very sweet that they sent a free one that was all VG.
I can see how steeping is going to be important. But not sure exactly how important yet.
My starting flavors are:
black raspberry
blackberry
peppermint (I am hoping I'll get some throat hit that reminds me of smoking from that one)
whiskey
cinnamon bun
chocolate cheesecake.
we shall see..

Hmmm.
So I loaded up my "Cherrybomb" from Heather's Heavenly Vapes this morning.
It's been steeping for a week and smells great but I am not so impressed with the flavor so far.
The flavor is good...if you like the taste of liquid honey. To me, it is most assuredly NOT cherry. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad but I wanted a really fruity cherry flavor and this is more like a really mild honeyed apple. Or something.
I'll throw it back in the box to steep a while longer!

Good luck! I think there are a few of us who are using e-cigs as a way to quit tobacco. I know it's helping me. I have had 6 tobacco cigs since 12/22/2012, I think that's pretty good.
I use both 0 nic and low nic, cause sometimes I just need the brain hit.
I can see how steeping is going to be important. But not sure exactly how important yet.
I just recently started getting juice. In my limited experience steeping pretty much helps all the flavors to develop, and is very important with the more complex or 'tobacco' flavored liquids.
All VG will be milder, regardless of how long you steep it, so if you can get 'extra' flavor or flavor shots, I'd go that route.
My current 'go-to' liquid is a bit over a week steeped, and it is marvelous.

I am liking my berry/peppermint blends. And the sweet flavors taste yummy. So subtle. Maybe waiting longer (steeping) will help a bit.
I was wondering if I should have one liquid that had a wee bit of nicotine for a rough spot. Something to think about.
Going to do some more investigating. The General is pleased by the smells. She would love it if I stayed quit.

I just noticed this thread and I thought I'd chime in with my observations. I use a Joytech eGo-C to vape. My juice of preference in "vanilla menthol", and I use the next to lowest nicotine level. One thing I definitely noticed is that one has to inhale differently - much less force, and shorter puffs. I had gotten to the point where I only smoked two cigs per day (one with coffee in the morning, and one after dinner). I've kinda fallen off the wagon, but I'm getting back in the vaping groove now. I actually find it much better than smoking and I can certainly feel the (good) effects when I exercise.

Today I am convinced to keep the juice nicotine free. Thanks for sharing your success Medusa. Rereading the juice warnings about the poisonous nature of nicotine is a good reminder.

There are 4 vapers (vaporers?) in my office. A couple of the guys will vape at their desks, it makes a few of the other co-workers freak out because they'll see smoke coming out of their cubes.
Personally, I'm trying to maintain my 'smoking' habits, so I don't often vape at my desk and will go out with the smokers... unless I'm having a really bad day. On those bad days I'll steer clear of the smokers (cause I'm afraid I'll bum one) I do notice I'll go vape my brains out in the hallway.
I've gotten the other vapers to go outside with me, keeps that social, break from work thing going.
We had a rainy spell just a while ago, and there I was, standing inside the lobby watching my co-workers huddled under the ledge smoking... Not missing that!

Best of luck with no nic. When I got my starter kit I started with no nic and that was great. I vaped when I felt the craving and was fairly satisfied.
Then a couple of weeks in I had some emotional upheaval and ordered prefilled cartos with the lowest nic level. I did this because that was when 4 of the 6 cigarettes I've smoked happened. I figured my vaping habits mimic enough, but my brain wants something more.
Once the low nic came in, I did much better. The emotional upheaval did get worse, but I was able to limit to 2 cigs. I don't know if it's cause I've got low nic or what, but any improvement is good.
Right now my juice is split, half is low nic, the other no nic. Today's been all no nic and I've been fine.

I found a local kiosk at Lloyd Center in Portland, Nic Station. I am so grateful, because I have spent the last few weeks reading, reading, reading and watching video after video. I just could not make a decision, and I was afraid I would order incorrectly.
The local kiosk let me try several setups, many flavors, and gave me mucho discounts on a combo purchase. I ended up with two complete sets and extras, which included:
2 10 hour batteries and variable voltage.
Car/home charger
Travel charger (portable power source, that when fully charged can charge phone, laptop, vape, Kindle and more)
1 50ml Cuba, I can't explain the flavor of this, but it is smooth
1 50ml Blueberry Champagne
Carrying case
4 cartomizers
2 purple tanks with included cartomizers and tips
I am enjoying the Cuba now, and I am really digging the throat hit. I am using the nicotine type, I'm not ready to give that up today, but I will soon enough. Baby steps. :)
Nic Station has a website, but it is not up yet. They said once it goes live, they will have free shipping, and since it is in Portland, it shouldn't be a long wait if I need something in a hurry.
I have a fantasy about this year's reunion. It involves an empty smokers' wall outside the hotel, and a shit load of healthier Planeteers.

I can tell you if you know what it is.. you can youtube it and they will have one just like that on there and they will show you. I didn't know how to clean mine either and I youtube'd it. I have used warm water to clean mine. I generally wait until I vape the juice down to almost nothing and then rinse them multiple times with warm water (no soap!) and let them air dry.

So, I haven't smoked, or wanted to smoke a real cig yet. Yay! I do find myself looking for my lighter, or getting it into my head that I put a lit cig on my desk, because I am so used to my habits. It seems weird to not light something, or lay something in an ashtray.
When I bought the kit, both 10 hr batteries were at half charge, and the guy told me to use them until they died and then give them a full charge. On half charge, one of them lasted me more than 15 hours, and I used the hell out of it! I'm still using the second one at half charge.
When I demoed these in the store, the throat hit, on the lowest voltage, sent me into a coughing fit that nearly gave me an asthma attack. After a few more tries, I was able to tolerate it, and my lungs already feel 110% better(it has only been a little over 24 hours). So far, I am noticing that every time I lay off of the vape for a few hours, the initial drag sends me back into a coughing spree, but it doesn't happen after the first one. I'm hoping that reaction goes away, but it is really not all that surprising to me, because the same thing happened when I quit last time, and I started using the Blue Ecig. It went away within a week.

a lot of the tanks are similar ... typically you can take them apart and take the wick out if you have a wick.. and rinse out ... the trick is to make sure it's completely dry before you use it again. Some people use a Qtip to clean the edges of the tanks, I do this. But not so sure it's necessary.
I also found out that not all tanks are reusable. I found that out with my first tank. I called my store and they said I have a tank that is not reusable. So the next tanks I purchased were all reusable ones.

Forgive me if anyone posted about this already. I haven't read all pages here.
I'm wondering if anyone has had problems with "Dry Mouth?" I have been vaping for about a yr and half and I have major problems with dry mouth. I've researched it and only find that if people get this, it only lasts about 2 weeks. For me, it's so bad that I can not create any saliva to the point I have a lisp. I have spoke to my local store and they have only heard of this from one other person. For her she knew she was alergic to the propylene glycol and takes that chance for cigarette free life. I haven't spoken to my Doctor yet, that's coming. I also know it's used in toothpaste which would explain why (I think) my mouth is dry after I brush.
I also know when Vaping you are to drink a lot of water! This hasn't helped me with the "Dry Mouth" it has almost made it worse.
I guess what I'm asking is if anyone else has had this issue? It sucks because I went for 4 months without smoking (one wknd I had 4 cigs) but couldn't take the dry mouth any longer.
Does anyone use Liquids with out the Propylene glycol in their liquids. If so where do you get them and can you shoot me the site you get them from.

Well I sure hope not. I am really trying to just use the VG base! Have you heard otherwise?
Oh and Loren_Q recommends the extra flavoring with the all VG flavors. And I will do that as they are pretty darn mild.

It's official! Scorp and I are organizing a VAPE MEET at the 2013 Reunion!
We are going to get some of those disposable tips and bring some vaping gear and different flavors so that folks can try them out! WEEE.
I am finding some local vape meets as well because I heard it was a great way to try new flavors and get tips. There is one in Northwest Arkansas but I put a thread up on a Vape forum and am hoping to find more in our area.
Anyone ever been to a Meet?
I haven't been to any. The store I get all my product from lets us try anything and everything out including the ecigs. They also have over 150 flavors and they continue to add to them. They also have Monthly/weekly specials on flavors. So I guess I haven't had to go to one. But how cool not to mention the TIPS alone are priceless! Would be fun!

Who would have thought, but it is true that vapor will dry out your mouth.
I definitely drink more water and tea now, but I don't see that as an issue.
100%VG is lot thicker than a PG/VG blend. I've read where some folks add distilled water to thin it out.
Oh, another thing about 100% VG, ECBlends and Heather's Heavenly Vapes (and probably others) have preprinted labels that might have PG listed in the ingredients, even though there's no PG in your bottle.

You could have a PG allergy. Try a vg only liquid. There are many people with the same or worse PG allergies. Deejstuff has VG only liquid. He's the only mixologist I use now.

It's a real deal!
It's called "vape mouth"!
I got it after about my second week because I started "mouth vaping" more and inhaling less (not that you can't get it from inhaling because you certainly can but mouth vaping seems to be a huge culprit.)
I am not allergic to the pg but it is an alcohol-based substance if I remember correctly so you will have drying agent in your mouth and even in small amounts can strip your tongue and mouth of the slick stuff.
* The higher the PG content, the more likely you'll get vape mouth.
* If you vape 100% VG, you have to be really careful about your clearomizers because that juice is a LOT thicker and will burn a clearomizer up quickly.
* Most places (except for super boutique stores) will let you pick what blend you want. There are some stores who sell their juices pre-mixed with what they consider to be the optimum blend for flavor.
* I always vape a 70/30 blend. Propylene Glycol is a much better flavor conductor than VG but VG produces more smoke so you will often have to adjust accordingly. I like the flavor and could care much less about the smoke, hence my 70/30 blend!
* Jackhammer ordered a juice that was pre-mixed at 50/50 and she had to draw pretty hard on her cartomizer to get any smoke. It smoked HUGE but she was annoyed with how hard the pull was with the thicker juice AND it burns up a lot faster.
* Drink tons of water! I've also found that chewing gum seems to help keep the mouth feeling more normal and less like a fur carpet!!!
If you DO get vape mouth, it will go away fairly quickly but it is definitely uncomfortable.

I have to mention, that currently, I am getting away with vaping, with some discreetness at my desk. I am certain that it is improving my stress level during difficult calls. I hope they either don't notice that I'm doing it, or ignore it. We do have quite a few 5 year old adults, who enjoy a good tattle, so unfortunately, it probably won't last.
A few people have mentioned that they really like the smell of blueberries that is around my desk. :)

Should vaping be reserved for tobacco and former tobacco smokers only?

No way, girl! There are two people at work who have gotten into vaping just because they were smelling my delicious vapor creeping around the floor. Neither of them have ever smoked and they are using it to help kill the sugar cravings!

From what I understand they do have "clearomizer's" on the marker to handle 100% VG
* Most places (except for super boutique stores) will let you pick what blend you want. There are some stores who sell their juices pre-mixed with what they consider to be the optimum blend for flavor.
My store is pre-mixed 50/50

I am a visual person, so I need to see it to feel like I'm getting anything.
* Drink tons of water! I've also found that chewing gum seems to help keep the mouth feeling more normal and less like a fur carpet!!!
Shitty thing is I was up to a milk jug of water a day.. and it never helped. I tried the gum, that made it worse. I even bought stuff at Wallgreen's for dry mouth (infact G was with me when I got it the first time)
If you DO get vape mouth, it will go away fairly quickly but it is definitely uncomfortable.
I had it so badly I had to stop... I lost all the taste of food and had a lisp. It wasn't fun. I stopped for 5 weeks and on the 6th week my taste started to come back. I went back to vaping, however not as much as I would like!
I'm hoping that changing my mixture will alleviate my troubles! If not I will talk to my Doctor and see what I can do

Strappie,
It does sound like you are allergic to PG. Is there any way your store can make a 100% VG, since you're not planning on ordering on-line?
One of my co-workers does 100% VG, he uses a standard starlight clearomizer. What he does though is he dilutes it with distilled water. He pops the cap off the juice and drops it in with a clean eyedropper. Then closes the cap and "shakes it to hell and back".
I hope you find a way around vape-mouth, it's a shame if you can't.

I agree with Medusa. I have friends that have never smoked a day in their life. But love the smell of them. They also found it fun to have it at the bars or restaurants. So they ended up getting one for themselves. They buy the liquids that do not contain nicotine.

Yes, it's been a damn shame that I can't smoke it like I want to. I am however going to try the higher dose of VG if not the 100% VG rather than my stores 50/50.

I started vaping on one of Scorp's about a week ago. She's got the eGo-T, with eGo transparent clearomizers. She had a tank with ECBlend's "top of the muffin blueberry" that she didn't like, but I did, and have been using that ever since. I wasn't sure if it was something I would like -- I've never been a smoker (except for that one "rebellious" summer...rar :winky:) but thought it might help with food cravings. I do like it, and will probably get a starter kit of my own (eGo-C in pink, anyone?)
I'm kind of getting sick of the flavor now, but we just ordered 9 more (haha!) from ECBlend to try out.
I was really confused by all the terminology -- texting Medusa a few days ago, asking "wtf is throat hit?" LOL -- and just found this review of several different tank systems that might be helpful to someone. I don't think I've seen this link here, but I may have missed it. Anyway:

Well it's been nearly a week of vaping. Yes the steeping is helping increase the flavor of the 100% VG blends I ordered. Taking some advice (Loren_Q I think) I ordered new flavors with extra flavoring. And I am really not into the flavors of desserts. Fruit yes. I need a bit of a kick, some tangy and strength.
I am finding that I am staying off of cigarettes with minimal stress on the nicotine free liquids. I just happen to vape a lot longer. I like the visable smoke of the VG liquids. Apparently the act of breathing and seeing it is important to me. Next thing you know I'll be taking up Yoga.

8 days vaping, with no interest in cigs! YAY!
I have developed some of the dry mouth symptoms, but I'm not sure what the ratio is on the juice I bought locally. I've been meaning to call them about that.
I ordered from Heather's nearly a week ago, and the status is still "processing", I know they warned me about the long processing time, but I am starting to feel a little impatient.
I replaced the cartomizer in my e-cig last night, the first one wouldn't thread, the second one did thread, but now I'm having some trouble with it, it works for a few puffs, and then I have to take it apart again. I'm hoping I don't have to go back to the shop to get this resolved. I'm thankful I have a second tank with a working cartomizer.

Steeping has helped pretty much every juice I've gotten. Like you I'm not one for the desserts, but I'm not partial to fruit either.
I'm willing to try new things but keep going back to the tobaccos (reg and menthol), coffees and Vanilla. I am looking for a good toffee one.
Oh, I do have a bacon sampler. I'm alternately excited and scared to try it.
I hope the added flavor helps!

Got it resolved over the phone! I just need to take the tank off of the battery to replace the cartomizer, apparently, the battery pushes something up inside the tank that makes it difficult to thread the cartomizer. YAY!

My first round of juices/flavors have been here over a week and so they are becoming much more flavorful. Yippee!
I can't wait for the next round of flavors to come. Strawberry Daiquiri, Kona coffee cream and something else.
I'll be honest... the thrill of getting to order new flavors/juices is helping me quit too. Why would I buy nasty cigarettes when I can get a custom flavor. Oh I am sooo easy.

The juice I got from ECBlends doesn't have an expiration date, just the month/year that it was blended. The packing slip indicated which ones should steep (and in one case for how long).
I'm new enough that I don't have actual experience, but when I ordered my first juice I asked how long it would keep. I was told it could keep up to 6 or 7 months if kept in a cool, dark place, but it probably wouldn't last that long.
I read about folks use their juice months and months from the time they got it and it's still good (or better).
Expiration may be more geared toward what flavor or maybe an evaporation concern.

I've gotten coffee juice from a couple of different places. One was pretty fine after a week (Apollo), the other one is getting there (going on 3 weeks).
I think the stronger, complex flavors need extra steeping time. When I got my ECBlends order, both the coffee and RY4 had "allow 1 to 2 weeks steeping" printed on the packing sheet.
The RY4 is wonderful now, but the coffee is still bitter - that's the one going on 3 weeks.

I have a question, that I'm hoping one of you knows the answer too. I may not be using the right terminology, so I hope this makes sense.
How do you clean the refillable tanks, when you want to use a different flavor? Here's a picture (similar to mine)of the part that I am talking about.
https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTFkAtUadsPBVoX_rdD2PE6wHAh7l42X CjfPoIeRACnicbJOZe1
They don't recommend alcohol. So, how do you clean it well enough to not get an unintended flavor combination?
If yours screw open at the bottom and top, they're vivi novas, you just unscrew swish around in water, *very* gently squeeze the silica threads without pulling on them, dry the rest and re-assemble - voila! takes about a minute tops. I just cleaned 7 or so of them last night.
If they have o-rings instead of unscrewing, just pull and give a little twist - kind of like how you'd wiggle a cork - after that, same cleaning rules apply :)

Hi, I'm daisy! Some of you may know me, others may not :) I've read through most of the posts so I thought I'd let y'all know what my setups are, what equipment I like, etc :)
What I'm about list is not to be some kind of show off - mostly to let people know I can help with advice on new things, starting to vape, upgrading, steering people away from bad starting kits.
I do want to clear a couple things up: PV means personal vaporizer, it's the mechanical part. Tanks, clearos, vivis, and atties are not the same thing. I've seen the term PV used quite a few times in reference to a tank, etc.
Also, yes, nicotine is poison, but only dangerous or toxic if mishandled or ingested (as in swallowing it). Yes, if you drink your bottle of fluid, it will make you very very ill. I handle 100% nic daily and I've never gotten sick/burnt/etc. from it because I'm careful.
Always steep! I have yet to find a flavor that is yummy upon arrival that doesn't improve over time steeping just as much as one that arrives and is NOT vapeable. It basically allows the flavors to meld together and allow any weird tastes that the nic may have added (nic, by itself has no flavor or color). It's always good to store your juice in a dark, cool place (ie a cabinet not in the kitchen or bathroom). I have a couple drawers in a desk and 2 end tables that hold what i'm not currently using. If you steep several months and it's still not your thing - PIF it - pay it forward and send it to someone who may like it that's in a financial situation where they can't afford juice - you can help. Yes, it cost you money, but it's been in the back of a drawer or cabinet for weeks or months not doing you any good as is, right? PIF'ing is also a lovely karmic act!
Just hoping that ends some confusion :)
Here comes my fun stuff!
I have a bunch of itaste v1 and v2 PV's (probably 12?), 2 ego clones, a handful of rarely used 510 clones, multiple Leo's and Leas both standard and internal tank (think ego-t), 2 itaste MVPs, 1 pink Provari, 2 zmax Sigelei's, 2 eVics, and 3 mechanical mods (Alpha, Electronic Angel and ggtx)
I use mostly vivi & mini novas on my PV's, I find them well equipped to handle both thick and thin juices and love that they come with alternative ohm replacement/alternate atomizer heads. I really like that they now come in so many colors and the metal ones with the cutouts are nice as well!
I also have about 35 CE4's (I only know how many because I cleaned that many the last 2 nights, lol). I kept just buying new ones instead of doing the duty of cleaning them and decided to just finally do it), some little cool tanks that will fit on a 510 but look like straight CE's.
I'm also a dripper, i have bunches of 510 standard & LR atties and a bunch of 306lr atties as well (they're my preference for dripping).
I have a few favorite places to get juice from: Lily's Liquids, Backwoods Brew and Pink Spot. I buy other flavors singly from different vendors if it's something I can't make with my own supplies - the reason I still use the vendors I do use, is that I can't quite pin down all the correct flavors and i like supporting the vaping community!
I also make my own juice and have around 215 flavors to work with so it's a lot of fun!
I visit electronic cig forum, but I prefer nu-vapor because it's smaller, there's less drama, and there are a LOT of people willing to help new folks and they have a great chat room that's active in the evenings. We talk about new stuff, juice recipes, help new folks, and just plain old chat.
My newest foray into the world of vaping is re-buildable atomizers which I admit scare the heck outta me, lol! I was given a phoenix, a did and a vivi mod
I'd love to put up pics of some of my things, but I need to get them online (they're only on my computer atm).
Please, feel free to message me with any questions.
To Medusa and the others who've been giving out really great advice, I hope this isn't viewed as an intrusion, simply another resource :)
Bye!

Current setups:
zmax sigelei w/ a pink mini nova with Pink Spot (the juice)
eVic w/ a red mini nova with PS's Cherry Limeade
provari w/ a pink vivi nova with Malty (BWB)
GGTS w/ a 306lr dripping atty- currently dripping Malty Toffee (BWB)
Not sure what's on the others right now, those are the four I've got out, lol!

Curious if we have any other vapor-ers out there in BFP-land?
I quit smoking over 2 weeks ago and Jackhammer got me the ego-C stick and a supply of nicotine-free juice.
This is my setup:

I am currently using a juice called "Black Tea" from myvaportstore.com and it is AWESOME. GREAT smoke, not tangy at all, and tastes wonderful!
Talk to me!

Ok so I got an ego-c stick like Medusa posted in the first thread. In the directions it says to pop the top of the little grey plastic thing and put the juice in. They were IMPOSSIBLE to "pop open". What am I doing wrong? I am sorry to report that I pried them open with scissors and scratched them up in the process. There has to be a better way!

I have a couple of PVs that have these little tanks. I find that the first time getting them out is the worst. I did, however, discover that if I push it (empty with the plug in place) down on to the atty to pierce the rubber piece, then pull it back out, it is SO much easier to get it out every other time you refill them. I think it's something with the pressure/vacuum that's formed when they cram those little stoppers in there :)
Hope that helps!

Has anyone else had trouble with the eGo-C leaking? The metal ferrule that connects the mouthpiece to the cartridge and the metal ferrule that connects the cartridge to the battery are simply press-fit onto the plastic and, in my experience, will leak juice if even the smallest amount of force is applied.
I tried repairing one mouthpiece/cart unit with silicone caulk and the effort wasn't successful. I just tried to fix another mouthpiece/cart unit with Liquid Nails and this effort is a bit more successful but I don't have high hopes for the fix lasting.

I just started with my setup. I got a "titty pink" colored Totally Wicked Tornado Tank. I love the different flavors and nicotine savailable for this. Strawberry is a fun flavor (how femme!). Need to totally quit the real tobacco and hope I can do it with this. Having fun mixing flavors too.

I have the 510 version of the TW tank in pink :) The best way to try to wean off the real ciggies is to vape at around 18mg to start with, if you are/were a heavy smoker you might want to start at 24mg juice/e-liquid. I started at 24 and a year later i'm mostly 12mg with some 18 still. Your brain will still be craving that higher level of nicotine that's in ciggies, even if you smoke lights.
Some people stay at their starter level and are perfectly happy. I went down, but i find that i vape a LOT more at 12mg than i do at 18mg. I still have some 24 in case i'm having a really hardcore craving.
I've talked to my Drs about vaping and both my primary doc and my shrink agree that nicotine is showing, in tests, to help neurorecepters to absorb the chemicals they're trying to recieve. My shrink (and this is just mine, no medical advice here!) said that it's OK to vape at whatever level im comfortable at because nicotine itself is not harmful to the body (unless you drink it or rub it on like lotion, lol) and that the smartest thing is finding your proper level of nicotine so that you aren't getting too little or too much - too little - jonesing, too much - jittery, lol!
There are some good, inexpensive sites for juice, which may help if you decide to start higher and work down. You can always find someone to give leftover juice to or trade to them for something. The ecig forums (nu-vapor and electronic cigarette forum being the 2 biggest) are a fabulous place to not only learn, but to find and trade items!
GL with putting down the ciggies for good - you'll get there and your body will tell you pretty fast how happy it is. You've probably already gotten idea of it from vaping instead of smoking part of the time, already :)

I picked up some more juice from Nic Station on the way back from the hospital today, Juicy Peach, and more Blueberry Champagne. I got very tired of the Cuba flavored juice within a few days, so I didn't get anymore of that one. I hadn't planned to buy more from Nic Station, because their juice is 100% pg, but I was still waiting for my juice from Heather's Heavenly Vapes, and I was running alarmingly low on the Blueberry Champagne.
Alex, the groovy young man who works there, recommended mixing the Juicy Peach and Blueberry together, because that is his new favorite. So, I may try that over the weekend. He also gave me mega discounts (2 cartomizers for free, 1/2 off 2 new tanks, and 1/3 off of the Juicy Peach), because his boss was so pleased with him about the review I posted on Yelp, in which I spoke highly of Alex's great customer service skills.
When I got home, I logged on to USPS, and saw that my package from Heather's is out for delivery today! Damn! Going to the mall to get more juice was not what I wanted to do today, I was just not feeling up to it, and I could have avoided it! Oh well, now I have extra supplies.
As of today, 3 weeks free from Cigs!! YAY ME!!

Am I the only one who is waiting for the "juicy" information from these two, about all of the different flavors they ordered??? Spill it! Please :)

First, congrats on 3 weeks!
If you do decide to mix the flavors, be sure to not try to do it in the carto or tank, if you have any old empty bottles around, clean one out with hot water if you haven't already, and mix it in there where you can properly blend the flavors. You can also do this in a ramekin or other small bowl or tea cup even. The bottle would be best though because then you'll be able to control the mix and have somewhere to keep the juice around :)
Congrats again, and have fun mixing up your flavors - blueberry and peach does sound pretty damn good, lol! If you find that fun, you might pick up a few flavor concentrates and add them to your current flavors (only takes a few drops to add a hint of flavor, and you don't necessarily want to overwhelm your base flavor). DIY is actually quite easy and you can get started pretty cheaply either getting supplies on your own or using a starter kit. Some come with a toolbox like container, assorted flavor bases of your choice, pg, vg and nicotine along with some gloves and pipettes, syringes, etc. - can't hurt to buy it that way if you're unsure what to get :)
The only thing about all PG juice is that although you get great throat hit, you don't get much vapor. If you don't care about that and you're doing fine with all pg, don't kick yourself over it. I know people that only do PG, some that only do VG and a lot of us are in the middle. I personally prefer 40/60 pg/vg as i adore big clouds of vapor. The owner of Lily's Liquids actually made me two custom all VG vapes for me when i had my tonsils out about 2 months ago - they were iced peach/strawberry (fuzzy berry tingle) and an iced melon/strawberry (melonberry frosty) so that i wouldn't have much throat hit and the cooling drops actually soothed my throat (who knew?).
As for the crossing orders - I've done that a few times. Placed an order somewhere because i was waiting forever (or impatiently) for one order to arrive - it's been especially bad over the chinese new year's 3 week holiday - so i order something else and then suddenly the older one is shipped out before the new one. At least you'll have plenty of juice!
GL with your continued vaping and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about DIY, mixing, or anything else :)

I wanted to clarify something I mentioned in another post about nicotine and safety. You should NEVER EVER attempt to vape anything over 36mg.
It's OK to use if you're working with nic and have your gloves on and are careful with it, but never vape anything above 36. I don't know many people that even vape that high, but there are a lot of people out there who do in the beginning, especially.
If you accidentally spill any liquid, especially 24mg and up, on yourself you want to make sure you wash the body part off that it's on (obviously eyes you may want to go to the ER) and/or remove any clothing it's spilled on.
If you *don't* wash off/remove clothing, the juice can act like a nic patch absorbing through the skin, then if you vape on top of it, it's just as dangerous as smoking with a patch on.
I know a lot more people vape 24mg (i do sometimes myself) don't freak out, or worse think i'm being overly cautious. As long as you handle something the way it should be, there's no harm, and it's quite easy to rinse off your fingers or whatever if you get a dribble on yourself.
The reason it's OK to vape 36mg and not want it on your skin, etc. is because tests/studies have shown that not all the nicotine is absorbed by the lungs. This was more a warning to the people using 36mg juice, or 36mg or higher nic in making new liquid.
This post wasn't meant to be a lecture or to scare people, mostly just being informative. As long as you don't let it soak in like lotion or drink it, you should have no issues, this was just a minor caution :)
Enjoy vaping, just treat it the way it should be treated, I know its easy to get complacent over time.
As i've said in other posts, if you want any additional info, please let me know :)

You are going to LOVE that Dragon's Blood from ECBlend but I found that I had to let mine steep for about a week before it was truly melded.
Y'all - I am glad to say that I am 52 days without nicotine of any kind. Jackhammer is almost that long without snus. I have only had a few noticeable cravings and I think they were more of the "habit" cravings than the physical craving.
For example, I was on the phone with June the other night and had an overwhelming urge to go out on the deck and do a deep inhale while we processed. This was more about "my routine" of talking to Juney on the phone and smoking the whole time than an actual physical need for nicotine. I overcame it by talking about it and inhaling some Cinful Pear from HHV.
I am going to make another post about the order I received yesterday from Alice in Vapeland. It was, in short, INSPIRING.

I read that about steeping the Dragon's Blood, so I've told Gaige to slap my hand virtually if I try to get into it less than a week after it arrives. It is good to hear that you have a favorable opinion about it.
It is so awesome that you have done it without the nicotine, I'm seriously impressed. I'm not there yet. But, then when I smoked, I was smoking 2 packs a day (which is insane). I had a craving the other day for a real one, even though I'm getting nicotine, when I was about to go in for my procedure. Other than that time, I have not been tempted.
The Cin City I just got from HHV's is fucking fantastic, especially with coffee. It tastes like I'm having a cinnamon danish and coffee. Like!!

Preface: These are only my opinions and I don't mean to come off like a fan-girl for AiV but dammit! Oh, and this post might end up costing you a lot of money. Sorry. You'll thank me later.
Y'all - I have read a LOT of posts about Alice in Vapeland over on Facebook, Twitter, the e-cig forums and have even seen review vids on Youtube hyping this company as one of the most amazing juice experiences ever. Needless to say, I was curious.
I placed an order back on January 30th. (all of my juice is 0 nic) I knew going in that the wait time would be massive because this company has apparently become so popular in the last 9 months that orders are taking like 3 weeks to get to people AND they are having to shut their website down for ordering almost 5 days out of the week in order to catch up. They are trying to remedy this by hiring more people but it was a very small 2-person operation up until about a month ago.
I received my order yesterday and was delighted to see this box:
http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt266/butchfemmeplanet/one_zpsd9c446fe.jpg
Now, another preface is that I am a sucker for good marketing and these folks definitely believe in putting time into their presentation. Another thing to mention is that their flavors are pretty renowned for being "artisanal" and "different". Lots of tea-based flavors and lots of nice citrus.
I ordered the "Little Bit of Everything" sampler which gives you 15 tiny little 5ml bottles of every flavor they have.
When I opened the box, I was greeted with this:
http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt266/butchfemmeplanet/two_zpsd4d93d19.jpg
And YES, I love the little Alice-themed playing cards and personalized message. On the back of the message is a receipt for my purchase, order number, and a phone number to call for questions.
Under the receipt was this. BEHOLD:
http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt266/butchfemmeplanet/four_zpsf814dce3.jpg
As far as the flavors, I usually do a "dot test" on the back of my hand and taste a dot of the juice before I vape it to get a good idea of what to expect. They all tasted pretty amazing except for "White Rabbit" which had a peppery taste. I know this is not a litmus test since these flavors are meant to be vaped and not drank but I was surely tempted to turn up the bottles and squeeze each one into my mouth, they were that good.
Another preface is that AiV juices are much "lighter" in flavor than other juice. This is not a bad thing. Your mouth doesn't get overwhelmed with a saccharin sweet film of flavor and you actually enjoy each vape as a delicacy. Think of it as the difference between a ribeye steak perfectly cooked so that it needs no sauce and a deep-fried monstrosity covered in every sickening condiment known to man so that the flavor is overwhelming and thus, imperceptible.
"Lemon Loves Cake" is an amazing blend of light, buttery poundcake with a custardy lemon undertone. And it's not the nasty, Lysol-tasting lemon that I've encountered with other vendors. It's muted. It is airy and delightful and I will definitely be ordering another bottle (a HUGE ONE!) of this!
"Black and White Cookie" - If you want to vape an Oreo cookie, vape this! This is a rich, chocolately/vanilla blend with a nice cookie biscuit undertone. Probably the best chocolate flavor I have ever vaped. A huge bottle of this will be ordered!
"Cupcake City" - Holy Buttery Homemade Cupcakes, Vapeman! This made me think of giant, fluffy french vanilla cupcakes coated with whipped buttercream. Super delicious! WANT. MORE.
"Cherry Blossom" - Cherries and something mildly floral. NOT perfume-floral, but floral in the way of inhaling a nice jasmine or honeysuckle. Mouthwatering and divine!
"Bandersnatch" - I'm a banana hound and this definitely satisfies! There is a light coffee and caramel undertone and a hint of black tea. It is a smoooooooothe and delicate flavor and intensely relaxing. Reminds me of curling up with a flannel blanket on a cold night.
"Mystic Mandalime" - This was apparently a customer contest winner. It is definitely a mix of lime, mandarine orange, tea, and cream. Lemony and subtle and super good after a heavy meal.
"Zombie Apocalypse" - FUCKNG YUM. If an Oreo milkshake had a strawberry afterburn, this would be it. The fruitiness of this is not that overpowering fruit of other juices, it's a "we made you a cupcake and misted it with strawberry juice" kinda thing. DELICIOUS!
"Frost Blossom" - A chocolate orange meets mint. You might think this won't be awesome. You'd be WRONG. This is winter morning meets orange groves in Florida. Very good!
"Creamsicle" - Remember those Creamsicle popsicles that had the white creamy middle from when you were a kid? This is it. DELISH!
"Crunkberry" - Captain Crunchberry on a cupcake with a side of cream. Very layered in flavor and GOOD!
"Sweet Tease" - A definitive tea flavor that they should have named "Southern Sweet Tea" because that's what it reminds me of. There is a nice juicy lemon garnish on the glass too! ORDERING MORE!
"Afternoon Tea" - I wanted to turn this up and drink this. Think of a high-quality Earl Grey with cream and the tiniest hint of pekoe. YUMMY.
"Twas Brillig" - If you had a nice cup of tea and a hot piece of blackberry crumb cake on the side and the hot aroma steam combined right under your nose? This would be it. A-MAZ-ING and unique. Want More!
"A Quiet Morning" - I saw a lot of hype about this one and now I know why. Green tea with honey and a soft fruity flavor - maybe mango? Something a tiny bit tropical. Probably going to become a daily vape for me.
"White Rabbit" - I can't describe this flavor except to say there is something dark about it - Maybe cappuccino or coffee or really dark tea but also a buttery blend with hazelnut overtones. It's very good.
Yes, I tested all of these since last night. YES, they are all very good. YES, I will probably go broke buying from these people. By far, this company has offered some of the most complex and interesting flavors I have vaped yet. The attention to detail and packaging is a huge bonus.
I will be waiting with baited breath for them to open the website up to ordering on Wednesday so I can get my fix.
Afterword: Taste is subjective. These are only my opinions. Have your pets spayed or neutered.

For the love of dogs...
I may, or may not have just set an alarm on my phone for when they are open for business again (12am EST Tuesday). The Crunkberry sounds perfect, as do some of the many other flavors in your sample pack.
Question:
Do you change the wicked type cartomizer out, when rinsing and changing flavors? These are about $4 apiece, so that could get expensive with trying different flavors out.

It's the HIGH PG that everyone and some researching says is giving me DRY mouth... so I'm trying the LOWER PG and a HIGHER VG... so we shall see.

LOL we just went and did Dusa's "dot test" for every flavor we haven't vaped yet. So far we like tangerine, creamsicle, blackberry brandy, and keoke rum coffee. I also liked my peppermint with a shot of chocolate. So many samples, so few atomizers!

I am so crazy about vaping that I am going to put together a vape basket for the Reunion in September. Juices and probably an ego-C or a Kanger. I want everyone to quit smoking! :praying:
i can't wait to see everyone sitting outside in the sun having a break and vaping away......

Does anyone here use a drip tip?
I am about to order a couple for Jack and I and it seems like it would be much easier to change flavors.
Update: I have been vaping AiV's "Lemon Loves Cake" for about an hour now and really love the lightness of the juice. People had talked about how subtle the flavors were and not to be surprised if at first you feel like you can't taste any flavor. I was kinda concerned but after vaping this for a while, I can say that Alice's verbiage about "letting the pallet of the tongue cool down between inhales" wasn't just bullshit. It's like the lightness of the flavor has let the flavor "build" instead of "deflate" over the last hour. Like, have you gotten ahold of a flavor yet that was so saturated in your mouth that you quit tasting it after a while? This juice doesn't do that: it's like it gets better with ever hit!!
Y'all just don't know how excited I am about seeing a line of vapers at Reunion this year and about maybe converting someone else to vaping if they win the basket of goodies I'm going to put together.
At a pack a day for the last 60 days, I estimate that I have saved well over $300. I am also sleeping better, snoring less, and not coughing anymore in the mornings :)

A drip tip on its own is just a piece of plastic. It won't do anything as far as flavor changes go as it's just the portion you inhale through. Think of it as the straw in a drink, it's just for assisting in the actual process. You do, however, need them to drip.
If you're thinking about having him actually *drip* you'll need at least 2 atomizers, and yes, it's easier to change out flavors as you can sort of blow them out between flavors, plus, unless you flood it, once you vape a few drops, the coil inside pretty much cleans itself.
If you want to rinse them out, they can be quickly rinsed in *distilled* water. Don't use tap water on your e-cig parts ever - even if it's been through a brita - it needs to be distilled to prevent corrosion. It's also super cheap so that should help - you won't need it for anything other than cleaning stuff or adding one or two drops to a liquid to thin it (and i literally mean 1 or 2 drops, someone i know ruined a juice by running it under the tap). You can also use Vodka for this process if you have it on hand, apparently it's great at cleaning out stuff with no taste left behind - please don't mistake this for rubbing alcohol which could be toxic - pure ol' Vodka (cheap is ok) is the best in this situation!
So - if you mean atties, yes, quick flavor change is possible when dripping, but you're only dripping 3-4 drops at a time so it's not as simple as regular vaping - you have to sort of pay attention to what you're doing.
Drip tips, by themselves, are great to use on cartos, and of course tanks and vivi's and any other removable tip unit (unless it's a ce and those require special screw on drip tips but they can be found, i have some).
If none of that made sense, or you want more advice, dripping is actually my favorite way to vape and I've been doing it for a year now and there are different atties (510s, 306s) and they all come in regular, lr and hr so if i knew a little more, i could help a little more :)

Question:
Do you change the wicked type cartomizer out, when rinsing and changing flavors? These are about $4 apiece, so that could get expensive with trying different flavors out.
Answer:
Nope. Just rinse the whole lot of it in *distilled* water which you can get at any drug store or walmart, etc. (you never want to use tap water in e-cig parts because it can cause bits to corrode). Just swish out the wicks till they're clear, making sure not to tug on them, until they are clear. Rinsing the rest is simple. When drying the wicks, just press them gently between a couple pieces of paper towel or kleenex - again, being careful not to tug on them.
You'll get good at it fast - the whole process doesn't usually take me more than 30 seconds, but i tend to do them in batches of a few at a time - i figure if i'm gonna clean one, i may as well clean a few if i can wait to do it.

Last week my son bought a Blu system,I gotta have one,but it only has 6 or 7 flavors.I wanted hot cinnamon or something liek hot dam or atomic fireball but they dont have any...will keep looking.
You can get an inexpensive 510 kit from many retailers that will allow you to use any flavor you want. It'll be cheaper than the blu set up and you're not stuck buying their expensive flavors. I'm gonna give you a couple links really quick - not saying you have to go these places and in fact i'm just gonna look at prices and how good the starting setup is for you (brief typing pause to go search!)
Nice inexpensive kit ($17.99), requires you to push a button so it's a "Manual" kit. Manual button units (99% of the non-store brand units) are nice because you can drip on them in addition to using cartomizers. http://www.free-cigs.com/510-M-Starter-Kit-_p_170.html
Same company, same kit ($29.99 because they're not purchased as much) except it's automatic (no button) only problem here is being cautious that you don't get juice into the battery, but are more like a blu because there's no button. http://www.free-cigs.com/510-A-Starter-Kit-_p_169.html
This one is an "ego twist" style kit. It's either $69.99 or $75.99 depending on battery, and if you can afford it you'd want the higher one) You also get these flavored (only 1 choice though for all 5 cartos) and at different nic levels. I'd go with blanks and choose your own juice. There aren't many on this site, but i'm sure any of the veteran vapers can point you to good sites for juice :) Getting blanks will also give you the chance to try up to 5 flavors instead of just the 1 that it would come with automatically. With this one you can use tanks, clearos, cartomizers (like with the blue) and it allows you to change voltage. This isn't a hugely important feature if you're new to vaping, but it'd be nice to know you already have it once you've taken the baby steps and are ready to move on a little - and you won't have to buy something else. This will be a manual - after you leave the little 510's (like the blu) you'll find that most everything is manual - which also helps save battery power by the way. http://www.vapow.com/Joye_Ego_C_Twist_Starter_Kit_Black_p/jy-skb.htm
All 3 kits are good. The manuals also have a "5 click" on/off feature that allows you to turn them off to save battery power. With an automatic, there's constant contact with no "breaker (aka manual button)" to cut the power when you're not using it. The first two are super cheap and would be great starters, but the ego, for the cost is going to be close to if not less than a blu set up.
The reason you don't see any super hot cinnamon flavors is because they're what's known as "tank busters" They pretty much have to be only used in a glass tank or cartomizer because they'll destroy pretty much everything else. The GOOD news is, there are tons of websites that offer red hot cinnamon flavors and you can use them in your cartomizers that come with your kit.
No matter what kit you get, make sure you buy extra cartomizers (all 3 types) or tanks/clearos/vivis (ego and up only).
If you have questions (i know that was a ton of info in a little space) please feel free to contact me, i'm always glad to help someone set up and i can help you set up completely within any budget that's at least $40!

If you're having issues getting your drip tips off whatever they're attached to, just put a drop of liquid where the tip reaches the attached unit, let it slip in there and that should lube up the ring enough to slip the drip tip off pretty easily :) The reason to use juice and not water or whatever else you might try, is that it's slick due to the glycerins in the juice!

The 510 automatic kit that I recently recommended has dropped in price to 17.99, same price as the manual. http://www.free-cigs.com/510-A-Starter-Kit-_p_169.html I actually own this kit and use it to test flavors before I put the liquid into a more expensive tank or carto.
I use the tank atties which come with the t 510x kit. I use this unit as well, probably more and it's also an automatic (no button to push) - I got it for the same sale price. This one also has a cute little gem on each one on the *lit* end that changes between 7 colors - I *am* a total girlie girl, lol! This kit is only $23.99 right now and can also be used with other 510 items, not just the little tanks it comes with. It also has a bigger battery which is great for a little battery 2-3 hours of chain vaping. It's nice to have one charging with on in use. https://free-cigs.3dcartstores.com/510-X-Starter-Kit-_p_172.html
Just so everyone knows, I'm suggesting these three kits from th same vendor not because I get anything out of it - just the knowledge I've helped someone starting out find good equipment.

I'm positive your equipment will take any vendor's e-juice. I don't think any vendor can manufacture a limit; it's all similar hardware (battery, atomizer, cartridge/carto/clearo).
There's a lot of posts mentioned flavors and where folks buy juice.

I am totally new to this....and I have questions as I am doing internet searches on the topic:
1) Do the flavors contain nicotine? And if not, I see there is liquid nicotine available - Do you just add this to your flavor or do you use nicotine by itself?
2) Is the difference between a manual and automatic that the manual one only works when you press a button and therefore you waste less liquid than with an automatic one that doesn't shut off - same as a burning cigarette?
3) What do you guys recommend for a first time user - auto or manual and disposable or ?
Thanks for this thread!

Yes, the liquids/juices come with the nicotine in them, generally between 8 and 36m of liquid. Most commonly 12, 18, 24 mg strengths. You do NOT want to be touching liquid nicotine if you are new to this. It's there for people who've gotten the hang of things, are ok handling what they're vaping, and are prepared to blend nicotine flavorings (not the same as juices) and lab strength nicotine.
Aside from that, check my post a few up and you'll see my recommendations for a new user :) It breaks down 3 kits that are good for new users, as well as another kit from the same site as two from the first post a couple posts later!

I'm sure daisygirl can answer this better than I could, but here's what I've been able to gather while researching and vaping.
So short answer to your question: Depends on what type of e-cig setup you have.
Drip tips are used on cigs where you drip directly on to the atomizer (atty).
Okay, now what the blazes does that mean?
E-cigs are made of 2 (or 3) components, providing a few different e-liquid delivery methods.
The primary component is the battery. This is that automatic, manual, variable voltage thing. And batteries have threads that fit/screw into the next component (That's where you hear the 510, 808 stuff).
The next component is the atomizer - this heats the liquid to make the vapor. Its this + the e-liquid delivery that confused the hell out me.
The atomizer can be stand alone with a drip tip on it (so you drip a couple of drops on the atomizer) and vaporize the liquid directly. The drip tip is the mouthpiece
I've also seen atomizers that 'spike' into a cartridge that holds liquid, The exposed end of the cartridge is the mouthpiece.
Then there's the systems that combine the atomizer with a tank or cartridge that holds the e-liquid. In this, the atomizer does NOT stand alone.
I've seen the cartridges called cartomizers or cleromizers. The common thing with these is you put the liquid in the tank/carto/clearo.
I don't know if this helped or made it more confusing.

^^--Ha ha ha ha ha!!! I just saw this! I don't know why I didn't notice it the other six times :|
I'm taking your word for it, and if I get in tonight, and am able to order, I'm ordering the giant bottles of Black and White Cookie, and A Quiet Morning. Wish me luck! I'm watching the clock like a hawk, and I'm refreshing the screen now and then to make sure I don't miss an early opening!!

I think there are posts in this thread with the info, but here's a short sweet version:
PG is propylene glycol, VG is vegetable glycerin.
PG is great for throat hit and a better flavor carrier; VG is great for vapor and is thicker. Some folks can't handle PG so there's also 100% VG juice.
Since I'm more into throat hit and flavor, I use a 60/40 or 70/30 pg/vg mix.

How long does 1 cartomizer last for a manual ecig?
And if you get the nicotine one, how do you decipher what mg. to purchase? They have from 4mg to 36mg. When I researched the nicotine content of my particular brand of cigarette, it was only 1.1. So that means the 4mg would be enough, right? or no?

The first question is kinda hard to answer because it depends on how long you draw, how often, etc. When I used pre-filled cartos I would say 1 would last a day. I now use fillable cartos, so I top off as needed and a single carto with a specific flavor lasts 3 to 5 days.
If you're smoking lights, you might want to start out low nic. I vary from 0mg to 12mg. I mostly use 0 and 6/8mg with 1 12mg juice for those times where my brain really seems to need the nic.
This is all my personal experience, YMMV.

I think any site will have a 'starter kit' with various options. You would need to determine how long you want the battery to last and what you want as a liquid container (tank, carto, clearo, etc).
If there's a vape store near you I would go there. They would have equipment, answers and appropriate recommendations.
You could also go check out the e-cigarette forum or nu-vapor forum, those are dedicated to vaping with a ton of info for newbies.

Vapor4life is a ripoff site. They push their products and charge a lot for what they sell. If you scroll back a page or two you'll see my suggestions for good starter kits and an explanation of all of them for under $20! In the second post, i listed that the automatic kit had dropped down to the price of a manual and then an even better kit for only $24.
As far as nic goes, you'll probably want to start at at *least* 12 mg, even if you smoke lights, the nicotine in an ecig is not as strong as that inhaled in a traditional cig. I smoked normal strength cigs and had to start at 24 mg, but that's just me. I went down to 18 a few months ago (I've been vaping a year as of Feb) and now i vape between 12-18 mg.
If you don't have enough nic to satisfy you, you'll find yourself vaping a lot more often and going through more cartos and juice than you really need to.
If you need any help, I'd be glad to assist - but before you invest at V4L, check out the kits i posted a couple pages back. I wrote an original post, then an update a couple posts later about a really good starter kit that went on sale. I picked that site because I've used their products - I'm not in any way connected to them.
You don't want to go with just a randomly selected site or you may find yourself trapped in a VERY expensive system that would cost you very little otherwise. It's great that they have all the guarantees, etc. But every site will honor manufacturers' warranties and i just hate seeing people order from a rip off place.

Thank you so much for replying and telling me all this!
I went to your link for the 510x kit, but it is sold out. However, the 510 M Starter Kit is still for sale, so I am looking at that one.
I also visited the Alice in Vapeland site, but it is down until Tuesday night.
I appreciate your help.

The nu-vapor forum was very helpful. Thank you so much!

Okay, I am about to purchase my first e-cig and am very excited :cheesy: but also very nervous :nailbitin: !
My three questions are:
1) Do you experience withdrawals at all when switching to the e-cig if you have nicotine juice? I will be starting with 24mg.
2) Are cartomizers refillable? Like all of them? No matter what brand/model of e-cig you have (other than disposables)?
3) While I understand the concept of steeping, I don't quite understand what this means? Do I steep every bottle of juice I get? Or only if I mix them? What do I do exactly to steep the liquid?
Thanks for your help!

Hi :)
Q1 - with 24 mg liquid you should be fine. I didn't have any withdrawal symptoms, i just reached for my e-cig when i had the craving (like i would have with a regular cig).
Q2 - Yes, they're all refillable but will eventually gunk up and wear out so try to keep a couple of spares on hand. You may also find it more comfortable vaping if you remove the rubber plug from the mouthpiece and use a drip tip in its place. It doesn't hold more liquid but it's more like having a filter on a ciggie, especially when you get the occasional bit of liquid that comes out of the top (ie if you overfill it) and a drip tip will help keep that out of your mouth (it's icky).
Q3 - Steeping simply allows all the ingredients in an ecig juice or liquid (whatever you want to call it) time to meld. There are some flavors that you can vape instantly and some that take a bit longer - and that's personal preference in most cases. The more complex the flavor, the more time it may need to steep, and almost all tobacco flavored juices need steeping time. You can steep by either leaving your juice in a dark drawer or cupboard, or - if you want to speed up the process - you can run a super hot sink and float your bottles in it. It helps to wrap the bottles with scotch tape or packing tape if you go this route so the label won't wash off on you. When steeping in the dark i try a flavor every week (unless it's one i know from experience needs more time) and if I water bathe it, i run it through 3 sink-fulls of the hottest water i can run until it cools each time.
GL with quitting - you should enjoy vaping much more, you'll be amazed how much your taste buds may change on you in the first couple of months, so unless you're really sold on a flavor - buy less than 15ml at a time of juice/liquid in case your taste buds to a reverse on you and suddenly it doesn't taste as good. There's also a short phase some of us call "mud mouth" where nothing tastes really good and it happens periodically, even if you've been vaping a while :)
If i can help in any other way, please msg me and let me know!

Daisy,
Thank you so much for responding to me. I needed this information before I could confidently make my first purchase. I have concluded that I will need about 15 cartomizers and about 1 15ml. bottle of liquid to start. Does this sound about right? I am getting a manual e-cig with a usb charger/wall charger. Will this do, do you think?
I understand about your taste buds changing. I quit smoking for 2 years long ago and my taste buds totally changed. I loved it once they settled down and I got full taste back!
I really appreciate your help with all this. It's new to me and while I can read about it, nothing compares to hearing someone's personal advice and experience.

The Alice in Vapeland site is down for orders until Wednesday morning, but apparently you can still view their products on the site. So, I was looking around to see what they have to offer and came across some helpful information that I am going to share for anyone following this thread:
This is a list/chart of the different nicotine concentrations and their equivalents for smokers who are trying to quit:
24 mg = Comparable to non-filters
18 mg = Comparable to full-flavored
14 mg = Comparable to mediums
11 mg = Comparable to lights
6 mg = Comparable to ultra-lights
0 mg = Flavorful, but contain no nicotine at all
Ingredients commonly found in e-liquid:
Propylene Glycol (PG) slightly sweet and colorless, produces more flavor and throat hit
Vegetable Glycerin (VG) thicker and sweeter produces more vapor
Flavorings specifically selected for vaping
Distilled Water (DW)
Pure Grain Alcohol (PGA)
I will post more information as I find it.

I am reading this thread closer and coming across posts to respond to...
I am still in the ordering process of my first starter kit, so I have no idea what the dry mouth thing is about, but I'm sure I will find out soon enough.
However, smoking dries my mouth out, so I have tried a dry-mouth mouthwash specifically to lubricate and it helps a lot. One that I use is by Biotene and it works really well. Just a thought.

I'm glad i can help! You'll want more than one bottle of liquid. Try a few flavors. Each cartomizer can easily hold 1.2 ml of liquid so you'll find yourself needing more than 15ml. There are sites that sell decent inexpensive liquid. The Alice in Vapeland stuff is good - but it's expensive and in the beginning you should start with inexpensive so you can figure out what you like. Mt Baker Vapor is one place to get decent flavors and it's not expensive - i haven't ordered from them for a while but i liked what i got. There's one liquid i highly recommend and that's lily's liquid, sold by bamsbbq on nu-vapor (he takes orders through pm's and referrals) and he makes it all himself. He charges what is the *usual* standard of $.50/ml. When you start paying much more than that you're getting into the more gourmet flavors and in the beginning you'll want to try a bunch so it doesn't hurt to start with a non-gourmet juice maker.
15 cartos will last you a while, especially if you have a handful of flavors, you'll have some back-ups. A manual is the best choice, you get used to pushing the button really quick, it's just going to be a difference in how you inhale because you can't draw on it like you would a ciggie - but you'll figure that out too :) As long as you get the usb and wall chargers, you should be set to start!
I'm daisygirlie on nu-vapor and i chat there (video chat, then click text chat once you see the list, we're normally there in the evenings) if you want to come learn some stuff, we're all there to help and we love helping new people. Some people will even help with juice, etc. to help you get started so you don't have to pay a fortune for things :)

I agree on the Biotene, i have it too. I started using it after i got my tonsils out 2 months ago (not a fun time for a grown up or a vaper, lol) and i found that it helps when i'm vaping high PG juices, because PG causes dry mouth. If you're having a lot of problems, i'd switch to a lower PG, higher VG or all VG juice. Hopefully Strappie will see this too :)

Daisy,
So, I know you recommended not ordering through vapor4life. And maybe it will end up being a regret, but I wanted the easiest method of starting this. So, I ordered one of their starter kits tonight and 2 - 30ml bottles of liquid with 15 cartomizers. I'm hoping this will be a decent way to get my feet wet and see if it's the answer for me.
Thank you again for all of your help and guidance. I keep reading on the nu-vapor site and researching in general, so I should have a pretty good idea of what I am doing by the time the order arrives.

Not to confuse matters even more but what if you don't like the flavor of liquid you picked?
It's hard because you haven't started and don't know where your tastes lie. I get buying a good supply, are you getting 2 different flavors? I know I've had liquids I've just not liked and if that was the only liquid I had... I'd be smoking.
Taste is so very subjective, I'm still test driving a bunch of different flavors/vendors, etc. It took me a couple of months to find my 'all-day-vape'
Good luck.

I agree with Loren, you're better off buying a few smaller bottles than 2 big ones. There's such a range of flavors so hopefully you picked something you'd normally like tasting a lot - because you're going to be working with those 2 flavors you have and you may start to want something else. With a bunch of smaller bottles or, on some sites, sample kits, you can sort of taste the rainbow without breaking the bank.
Just make sure if you run out of something that you go buy something (to hold you over while you order some more juice online) like blu cartos - they *should* fit (i'm not sure what you're using) most standard starter kits as long as what you're using is referred to as "510 threaded." It's better to spend the $10-15 for a package of 5 blu cartos than picking up a ciggie if you get in a bind!
Since you're using V4L i don't know if you'll be getting 510 or their choice of threading - if you haven't ordered yet, make sure it says something like either "ego" or "510" - you will have trouble finding other parts, tanks, etc. if it's an 808, 901, 401 and there are a few others. I'm not saying not to order with them, that's completely your choice - just be an informed buyer :)

Loren,
I read the reviews from users who have sampled the liquids and gave them high/good reviews. This doesn't mean I will like them, of course; I'm just hoping for the best! I got 2 different flavors of bottle liquid and 3 different flavored atomizers. So, this should be enough to at least get me started. If all else fails, I will just order more/different liquid to try. Worst case, if I don't like it, I can send it someone else who may like it.
I imagine it does take a while to find your specific flavors. I don't anticipate that the first flavor choices will be the ones I decide to stick to.
Thanks for your input and insight! :bouquet:

Daisy ~
I totally get the idea of trying many different flavors of liquid. I purchased the 2 - 30 ml. bottles because they were on sale, basically, for the same price as a small bottle. The reviews were very good for each one - I checked before I chose them. One is cherry the other is pear. I also bought coffeehouse variety cartomizers, banana cartomizers, and green tea cartomizers. I thought about the flavors a lot before I selected them. I looked at the Alice in Vapeland site when they reopened for ordering and will definitely try their sample boxes in a few weeks. I am going out of town soon and will not be home to receive the shipment if I order now, so I will have to wait until I return.
The reason I chose the V4L start-up kit is that there are a lot of videos/reviews of their stuff on youtube. This doesn't mean much, I know. But, I really had a difficult time understanding the e-cig itself and the different model options and the differences between cartomizer and atomizers and batteries, etc. It was too much for me. I just wanted to order the simplest way possible to get started. And they seemed to be the simplest that I could find. There are drawbacks to this, I realize. One of them being I don't know exactly what kind of equipment I have yet. I'm guessing it's either a 510 or an 808, but I'm not positive yet.
Thank you for suggesting the blu-cartos. I don't anticipate going completely cigarette free for a while. So, I will likely do both during a day, but I would like to decrease my smoking as much as possible, as soon as I can. So, if I run out of juice, I will do that.
You have been great, Daisy, truly. I appreciate your help and guidance during all of this. I will pay it forward and help the next person wanting to get off the smoking bandwagon using e-cigs.
I will let you know how it goes when the kit arrives. I should receive it by Saturday.

I was thinking about making a basic e-cig 101 post of all the stuff I have learned i.e. battery types, cartomizers vs. atomizers, etc. I only have limited knowledge so far, but I could make a basic post for those interested in a quick way to get the basic idea of e-cigs without having to search websites/youtube videos for hours. I work from home, so I have more time to spend doing this than most do. If you would be interested, thank this post. If I get a couple of hits, I will go ahead and do this.

This is my limited knowledge of e-cigs that I’ve compiled from various sources to help people get their feet wet and hopefully use this as a tool to quit smoking (or to pick up vaping). Much of what you need to learn, I can’t adequately explain to you as I am not a mechanical engineer/chemist, nor am I am a seasoned vaper. But, if you want some basic info as a place to start, here you go.
The first thing to know is that there are basic disposable e-cigs with a certain amount of ‘puffs’ per unit, which varies by unit, and you simply toss once it’s depleted. You can buy them in varying nicotine strengths, depending on the type of cigarette you normally smoke – i.e. lights, mediums, non-filtered or light, medium, heavy smoker.
Once you bypass disposable units, you move into the e-cigs with rechargeable batteries. Websites sell units with wall/car chargers and a USB ‘pass through’. Some kits you buy have all 3; some supply only the wall unit. Keep this in mind when purchasing your ‘starter kit’ as you will not want to run out of battery power and have limited options for recharging it. There are 2 basic types of setups for the rechargeable battery e-cigs. One type is a 2-piece unit consisting of a battery and what is called a cartomizer. The cartomizer (or carto) is the housing for the apparatus that vaporizes the liquid (or juice) so that you can vape it. It is constructed of a thin metal element that heats when activated by the battery. The metal element is surrounded by ‘filling’ or filament that looks like thinly intertwined fibers. These fibers act like a sponge and hold the liquid that the heat turns into vapor, allowing you to vape. The cartomizers are designed to be disposable. And for those with financial constraints, or those who simply want to save money, you can perform some basic maintenance on these to make them last longer. I have heard/read of some vapers getting as much as 30 refills per cartomizer, if it is cleaned well and the original design is good. There is also a 3-piece unit on the market that utilizes an atomizer to vaporize the liquid instead of a cartomizer. The atomizer is designed differently, using a wick that soaks the liquid or juice into a heating element that vaporizes it. The liquid or juice is housed in a separate tank or cartridge, which is the 3rd portion of the 3-piece unit. The most important difference between a cartomizer and an atomizer is that the cartomizers are designed to be disposable whereas the atomizers last a lot longer. Another important difference is that the atomizers are encased in a separate compartment from the liquid, allowing for quick and easy exchange of liquid if you want to change flavors. The atomizers also require maintenance cleaning, but in doing so, you will get long life from them. Cartomizers come prefilled with a flavor liquid of your choice, ready to use, or you can buy blank/empty ones to fill with your juice of preference.
The batteries come in different sizes from some vendors, I think to better mimic your preferred length as compared to a cigarette. Some are short, some are regular and some are XL, which also means the battery is more powerful and lasts longer. There are more powerful battery options than the basic batteries that last longer. I do not know about these (yet). There are 2 types of batteries. One is manual and one is automatic. The manual battery requires you to push a button to activate the heating element. It only takes a few seconds to heat then vaporize the liquid, and not surprising, it also lasts longer than the automatic battery that is on standby until it runs out of charge. The automatic is fully activated when you suck on the e-cig. One difference between the two is that with a manual battery, you can control how much you inhale.
The final part to consider is your juice or liquid. There are hundreds of varieties out there among the different vendors that I have seen and all of the websites seem to recommend beginning with basic flavors before you move into the more gourmet ones. On Youtube and on various websites that discuss e-cigs, there are reviews for the different flavors. I have utilized these because apparently some of the flavors are not so good. And of course, it will depend on what you prefer (i.e. fruit flavors, coffee flavors, traditional tobacco flavors, dessert flavors, etc.). The ingredients of the liquid vary. I will write a separate post on that.
There are many tricks, tips, and recommendations that I have compiled from various sources that will be uber helpful to someone just getting their feet wet. So here is a partial list:
1) Clean your cartomizers daily. Some suggest more often than that, such as between each refill to keep it clean and in tiptop working condition. I think it will depend on how much you vape. The reason the cartomizers need to be cleaned is because the liquid leaves behind resins on the filling/fiber sponge that adhere to it, preventing the liquid from absorbing, resulting in lessoned flavor when you vape. There are various methods to cleaning them. 1 method is to sit the cartomizer in boiling water then turn the stove eye off and stir the cartomizers around in the water for a few minutes to loosen and dissolve the resins. Another is to use tap water as hot as you can get it, get half a cup of it, drop your atomizers in it, then let them sit for about 30 mins. Some suggest using distilled only water because it has no minerals that can also cling to the fiber and render is less absorbable. Minerals can also stick to the heating element causing it to be less efficient. I have heard of using the steamer tip of an espresso maker to force steam through the cartomizer as a quick clean. After you use water, you have to let the cartomizer dry or the filling/fiber will be wet and not hold the liquid adequately. This can take from a day to air dry to various times using quicker methods of drying. Here, you just use common sense and what would be not such a good idea (drying them in an oven) to what would be helpful such as blowing the water out of the cartomizer to allow a faster drying time. You will notice it needs to be cleaned when the e-cigs begins to deliver less flavor or when it becomes burnt tasting. Do not let your carto dry all the way while using it, or the heating element will burn through the dry fibers and render it useless. Some suggest topping it off frequently to prevent this from happening.
2) There are drip tips available to put on the tip or end of your e-cig that were originally designed for a specific purpose too complicated to explain here, but it does lengthen the tip and apparently make it more comfortable to use. It also keeps any liquid that comes from the carto or atomizer from getting into your mouth, which is good also apparently as the liquid is not tasty. They have basic ones, fancy ones, metal ones, plastic ones, etc.
3) When you refill your cartomizer, you want to apply the liquid to the perimeter of the inside of the carto, careful not to drop liquid into the center where the heating element is located. Allow the liquid to absorb and keep adding until the fibers look glistening, but are not saturated and wet. Blow on the carto to express excess liquid or this will make your heating element malfunction over time. I have watched videos of various methods of getting the maximum absorption so that you do not have to refill it so often. I will post some links at the end for you to watch and see for yourself. Some of the methods are humorous. You should get about 25 drops of juice or liquid per refill.
4) You do not have to clean your carto between using different flavors of liquids, but then you will get a blended taste if you do not clean it, or you can use a clean carto/designated carto for each flavor.
5) You will need to draw or inhale differently from the e-cig than you do with a cigarette. I will post video links that demonstrate that.
Hope this helps!

Oh boy, so excited here! I just received my starter kit in the mail. As a plus, this company sent me two free extra cartomizers (1 spearmint, 1 clove). I am impressed by their packaging. It's not artistic like the Alice in Vapeland (which is cool, I think), but it's better than I expected. Not sure what I expected, but I guess I anticipated the items would be tossed into a bag and mailed. Instead, each item is in a separate box, etc. The items seem to be decent quality so far. I have the first battery charging as I type.
Reading the instruction booklet that came with the kit, it says each battery can be recharged up to 300 times. One cool feature I notice about this particular kit - the wall charger has an indication light that turns from red to green when the battery is fully charged, so that's nice. The USB charger also has an indicator light on it. The booklet says there will be a slight sizzling sound when the battery is activated either by pressing the button on the manual battery or drawing from the automatic battery. This is the sound of the liquid/juice vaporizing. The booklet says each cartomizer lasts approximately 200 puffs; that is without the recycling maintenance/cleaning steps posted earlier. The booklet says the battery will last about 3-6 depending on how frequently you use it. When the battery is depleted, the LED that lights up like the lit end of cigarette will blink, indicating it needs to be recharged.
I got a kit with a small carrying case. It has slots for 2 batteries and 4 cartomizers. This is personal preference, I suppose, as to whether you want a standard/factory one with the company logo on it, or you want a more self-expressive/artistic one that you can buy elsewhere. They have them for sale on amazon and ebay and other e-cig websites. I specifically wanted one that was not fancy or artistic so that I wouldn't become attached to it and want to keep vaping. I want to move off the nicotine! The only drawback to the logo case (other than cheesiness) is that it's not discreet. But, no one rummages through my purse anyway, so no big deal in my situation.
I purchased varying strengths of nicotine because I was unsure what nicotine concentration would be best. I smoke ultra lights, but smoke frequently. I got a range between 24mg and 11mg of nicotine. I will see what suits me best. My hope is the more concentrated juices will allow me to crave less often. Not sure if it will work like that or not.
This is all I can think of to mention before I begin vaping.
Hope this helps someone!

I've been good for a week, I haven't vaped the Dragon's Blood yet from ECBlends. I have been shaking it since it arrived, and keeping it in a dark place. I've tasted a drop here and there, and it is getting better, and better. Still a little peppery, so I think I'll give it another week to steep.
I'm not sure how I feel about the Tropical Punch flavor. It seems like it needs to be sweeter. I'm going to put it back in the box for some more steeping.
It looks like they are making headway on the AliceinVapeLand orders, and that makes me excited. I can't wait to try them!

LOL
I sampled 4 flavors today:
1) Tobacco flavor - OMG disgusting!
2) Clove - heavenly
3) Cappuccino - pretty good
4) Mocha Frap - pretty good
Going to look at Heather's also. They operate out of Newnan! That's not far from me. Black tea sounds really, really good!

I favor tobacco flavor, but it needs to steep. Depending where you get it from anywhere from 1 week to 1 month.
My absolute favorite tobacco flavor is HHV's Legend... mmmmm

Hi Loren,
The tobacco flavor are cartomizers, not a bottle of the liquid. Do they still need to steep or set for a bit? I got all of my starter supplies at vapor4life.
I'm looking at Heather's liquids now...do they tell you how long each liquid should steep or is there a standard time to steep for all of their products?

Oh, pre-filled cartomizers, sorry, I don't know if they steep or not. The ones I got with my Apollo starter kit were very good, but those/that brand were the only prefilled I got. I went to filling my own pretty quickly.
I don't recall seeing any steeping times on my HHV order. I just steep everything a minimum of a week (tobaccos and coffee more). I have enough juice that I can do that. Of course sometimes I'm left with a meh flavor while waiting for something yummy to steep, but it's a good lesson in patience.

I've done the hot water trick on some of my ECBlends stuff (the coffee & teas) cause it seems they've had to steep way too long. You could try that on the Dragon's Blood and Tropical Punch if you start getting impatient.

Loren,
If a juice has not steeped long enough, how will you know? I understand the flavor will become more rich or complex with steeping, but is there a way or ways to tell if it has not steeped enough? For example, when reading some of the liquid reviews, some said they tasted like soap when they first tried them.

I wanted to give a short review of this website and products so far.
The website does not explain equipment well if you want to know the model type e-cig you are purchasing. This will become important if you want to upgrade and/or purchase parts like cartomizers/atomizers from a different vendor. What will happen is the threading on the battery will be constructed to fit certain parts and if the threading is different, you can't attach new pieces.
This website seems geared toward those who want a low-maintenance vaping experience, who do not wish to tinker with their equipment or delve too deeply into the vaping world (i.e. people who just want to use this as an adjunct to quit smoking or the recreational vaporer). They have the site set up fairly well and in a way not requiring you to know what you are doing before you start ordering. They do provide information that explains details somewhat, so you are not totally lost, but you will have to visit other websites if you want to really jump in. I think this site is focused on those who want to quit smoking.
So far, I have received 2 separate email coupons for a 40% discount on anything on their website not on clearance/sale. While it's an effective/smart business practice on their part to maintain loyal customers, it's also helpful for me and it's appreciated. They also sent 2 free flavored cartomizers with my start-up kit (which is standard practice in the industry from what I am reading to say 'thank you' for your business). This is appreciated because that gives me 2 extra cartomizers and the opportunity to try flavors I may not purchase on my own accord.
This is a guess on my part, having only sampled their juices so far, but I think their juices are not the best out there. They have a decent selection, but the flavors are simple, not complex, and you only have 1 size available - 30ml bottles. I personally like this because with 6 bottles, I will be set for a while. Even if the flavor is not great, I will tolerate it until I reorder more. Their website does have customer reviews of the liquids and a range from 0-36mg of nicotine for most flavors.
The battery comes with a 90-day warranty. This is okay compared to some other vendors. I have seen warranties up to 1 year. I don't anticipate a problem, but if one arises, then a 3 month window is not great, but likely adequate. I did read product reviews before purchasing from them and feel confident I made a decent choice. They also have a 30-day money back guarantee.
I have not utilized customer service/support yet, so I don't know how this rates.
I would say this website is pricier than other vendors also. If you take the time to research other vendors, you can get equipment for less. But, they have some nifty battery models like an all-day battery and a battery that allows you to adjust the vapor level, if that is a desired. They also have new batteries that do not have the light-up LED tip that mimics a lit cigarette. It has a closed tip, and it comes in different patterns.

I have a question for vaporers who have been doing this a while:
When you smoke a cigarette, you puff/inhale until the cigarette has burned to the butt, or at least I do most of the time. Vaping is different, or has been for me so far. Where I would smoke a full cigarette and feel satisfied for a while, I have experienced an urge to vape one time, but frequently. So, a different pattern is set with the e-cig. I don't know what factors contribute to this. It could be the nicotine level is not high enough. It could be the loss of satisfaction of continually smoking a full cigarette. It could be the lack of other chemicals from cigarettes that contribute to my addiction to nicotine because I do think those other ingredients in cigarettes strengthen your addiction. It may be a combination of all 3.
Does this sound familiar?

I have been vaping for 8 days now, with an eGo-C starer kit that I was able to purchase at a local Vape Shop. There is actually a Vape Shop in my town! It doesn't have much selection and the prices are high, but they did have the eGo which I knew I wanted. Now that I have my set-up, I will be ordering online. Sadly, I blew my budget for the month and can't try any new flavors until next month - I can't wait!
The best part of all of this is that I am not smoking cigarettes! I have been struggling for years, quitting all the time, starting again, feeling anxious, cranky, guilty. Nothing has worked for me. But THIS is it! This is doing the trick. I don't need to smoke. I am beside myself with glee!

A bit of background...I've been vaping for 4 weeks. Nicotine free juice...
Yes it sounds familiar. When I first started vaping I did so frequently. It took me a long time to work through what felt like enough. Quiet frankly it seemed continuously. It wasn't really but I was like sucking away looking for a feeling that didn't come.
That phase didn't last long. Maybe a few days. I found I vaped nearly my entire drive to and from work (which was prime smoking time for me). The long car vaping sessions lasted 2 weeks.
Now I vape for about the length of 2 or 3 cigarettes in the car (mind you I was a fast smoker). And that is the only time I am vaping now.
I am grateful for the vaping option. Quitting smoking hasn't worked until now. And my health really needed me to quit (years ago but I digress). I do have an emergency, very low nicotine level juice in tobacco flavor for if I think I am going to buy cigs and give in to the nicotine. Fortunately I haven't needed it more than once and I took 5 puffs (I didn't like the flavor at all).

I vape pretty much all day, it is either in my hand, or next to me if I am awake. I personally feel that despite the level of nicotine that I have in my juice, it is not delivering it to my body in the same manner a cigarette does, and that must be why I use it more often. I have no way of knowing if this is true, but it feels right.
Here's an experience I expected, but didn't expect to have with my mother first (though I should have known better)...
My opinionated mom says to me:
"You probably aren't going to agree with me but...Dad and I were out to dinner the other night, and I saw someone with their electronic cigarette, and they were just waving it around nonchalantly. Like they were rubbing my nose in the fact that they could smoke indoors. I just think that is crass!"
It annoyed me. I love her to death, but mom can annoy me from time to time. So, I said to her...
"Mom, my ecig is helping me not inhale the smoke that can cause me lung cancer. Nothing else has worked. I know that you are happy that I am not smoking, can you not place yourselves in their mother's shoes, and be happy that they found a solution for themselves?"
and Mom says...
"I think it is great that you quit smoking, but you're not planning on "vaping" forever. Are you?"
and I said...
"Mom, I have been smoking since I was 13, this is the only thing that has worked for me. While I may not use nicotine juice for the rest of my life, I may very well continue to vape, if it keeps me from desiring a cigarette. If another person vaping is not having an effect on your health, why do you need to complain about it? Why not be happy for them, or at least be pleased that they will not be a part of the reason our health care costs keep going up? Just think of me, whenever you have that thought."

I answered my own question on the TSA website. In case anyone else is concerned, this is pasted from their website:
"E-Cigarettes are becoming more and more popular and I’m happy to report that TSA has no problem with e-cigs being packed in your carry-on or checked bags. Now as far as using them on a flight, I would suggest you contact your airline and see what they have to say."
"You may transport this item in carry-on baggage or in checked baggage. For items you wish to carry-on, you should check with the airline to ensure that the item will fit in the overhead bin or underneath the seat of the airplane."

I got a 2 battery set with my starter kit. One is manual and one is automatic. I like each for different reasons. The manual allows you to control how much vapor you receive. I like the automatic in that I just pick it up mindlessly and puff without any thought (like while I am working here at my computer). The automatic gives decent vapor, as much as I need or want.
Between the time I place the order and arrival at my front door, the V4L products take 3-4 days. The company is located in IL, I am in GA. So, it's only shipping a few states away. But, it helps that turn-around time is so fast. They ship USPS first class.
I finally know what equipment I have - 808s. If you need one or have a hard time finding one, they have conversion adapters for 510 to 808 or 808 to 510 for about $4 each.
Definitely get a drip tip. Otherwise, you are inhaling from the open end of a cartomizer. Not to mention the excess liquid/juice can potentially leak all over the place.

It's called mudmouth - i mentioned it in a post a few pages back so you probably missed it. Almost everyone goes through this phase. Your taste buds are rebuilding themselves so you'll experience both lack of taste, or a time when anything tastes bad. It happens every so often even with long time vapers. A lot of it could also be the quality of the juice.

#1 When you're not using your automatic you should remove the cartomizer between uses because it will continue a low drain on the battery if it's on there. Manuals should have a 3-5 click on off function. If yours doesn't have this option, again you should leave it without the cartomizer to prevent battery drain.
#2 the 808 does have a converter - most places sell them for about 2-3 bucks, but if you're able to get yours at V4L go ahead and get it there. You'll probably get tired of using converters at some point and get a couple of 510 threaded units :)
#3 your cartomizers come with a plug in the tip - we all used them long before someone thought to use drip tips - you should never vape without the little plug or a drip tip on there, and yes it's easier with a drip tip.
I also wanted to address one thing that really stood out to me in your users' guide. You do NOT want to clean your cartomizers daily. In fact, unless you're trying to change flavors washing a cartomizer will kill it fast. You're also wasting at least 1-1.5ml of juice every time you clean it! I have cartos that still work after months. I don't really use them any more, with the advent of the Ego style batteries and systems, most of us use tanks now.
The biggest use for cartomizers is for "DCTs" which is a dual coil tank. In that system the carto is surrounded by liquid in the tank and drawn up through holes made in the base of the cartomizer and vaped with either that little plug in, or preferably a drip tip. If you tried to clean it, you'd waste even more juice.
Drip tips are fun to buy/collect. There's everything from plain black plastic to fancy blown glass and everything pretty or functional in between :)
I know you're still feeling your way through this. If anyone wants me to write up a more advanced user manual (past the basics) I'd be happy to do it :)
Good luck!

Make sure that if you carry on any juice bottles, that they be less than 3 oz and go in your quart-size bag of liquids. (I put my spare filled tanks in there as well.) We just got back from vacation and did that, and had no problems at all. We didn't try to use them in the plane, though...we didn't want to incur any misplaced wrath from our fellow travelers! :)

By the way, our last order from ECBlends was shipped with a freebie bottle of "Buttered Keoke Rum Coffee," which is really good! It steeped for probably 2 weeks before I tried it.

I have noticed the juices at V4L have a stronger tobacco-y/nicotine taste to them that competes with the flavor. At 24mg, you taste both the nicotine and the flavor. At 11mg, you taste a lot more of the flavor. This may be only true of V4L juices; I don't know yet.

That's one of the functions of steeping - to reduce any weird tastes in the juice from nicotine. There really shouldn't be a taste, but it does happen. I make my own juice and depending on the source of the nicotine some adds no flavor, some reacts with the ingredients (most common way you end up tasting it) and sometimes it tastes a little peppery. In the last 2 scenarios you'd want to steep it. Either with hot water baths (the fast way) or by just giving everything time to meld and lose the nicotine taste. The best way is time - hot baths can fail, but they can't hurt to try. The higher the nic level, tobacco flavor - the more steeping you'll need. Higher end juices use better nicotine and other ingredients (which is usually why they cost more) but they can still need steeping so don't automatically assume it's juice quality - although if you took a poll among people who started with a vapor company like V4L you'll hear a lot of people say the juice was horrible (not my opinion, just things i've heard!) and at some points not even vapeable :(

PS - you can't steep cartomizers so if you're buying pre-filled - what you have is what you get :(

I will try the hot bath method and see if that works, remembering to put tape over the labels so they don't come off. I will be ordering from either or both HHV or/and Alice in Vapeland when I return from vacation. I will have to make these do for now - hopefully, some steeping will improve the ones with the higher nicotine levels. Honestly, the taste of smoking tastes so bad, even the very nicotine-tasting juices are better than ashtray mouth :cigar:
Thanks for your help again, Daisy!

Alice has delivered, and I now have to wait to travel down the rabbit hole(wait out the steeping process) :|
Besides my two 50ml glass bottles (Black & White Cookie, and A Quiet Morning...both delicious on the drop test), with eye droppers and adorable little trinkets attached to their necks, they sent 5 samples, of which the Lemon Loves Cake is the most fabulous...
The packaging was just as amazing as Medusa's...

I just wanted to give some info on the batteries I purchased from Vapor4Life. I seem to use the automatic battery more. If I keep it attached to a cartomizer for the whole day, meaning I am using it all day, then the battery life is about 12 hours. It recharges in about 4 hours. The manual battery lasts about a day and a half and takes about the same amount of time to recharge. Both batteries are VK classic models.

I have been watching a lot of different sites for vaping and I am so glad I purchased the Totally Wicked Tornado Tank. It has great reviews. I got a wee bit confused about dripping while reading this site. I guess because with this system it is an automatic dripping system...no need for the mess of carrying around juices, etc. Thought I would post this system for others to take a peek at. I love it!

Might be a few days behind mine. It sometimes takes them several days to work the same day's orders. At least that is what I saw happening from their tweets.

Dripping isn't done on a PV like yours. You have a tank system with a very specific tank atomizer. You can buy a normal atomizer to use with your PV and then you could drip if you wanted to.
Dripping is when you have only an atomizer on the PV and you drip a few drops in at a time to vape them. There are a lot of people who do this, even with the advent of all the tanks systems and assorted tanks like Vivi Nova's, CE's and T3's. There are a couple of atomizers that are most commonly used: the 510 and the 306. Both are 510 threaded and come in standard, low resistance and high resistance, and with the 510 there's also an option to not have a metal bridge in the atomizer (many people removed these so they started manufacturing them without them in a different configuration.
If you're curious about dripping, you should be able to find any of the 510 or 306 atomizers with no problem for under $6 or so. You *have* to buy a different drip tip for the 306 than you do for the 510 (the 510 one is the one most people use on their tanks and cartomizers) - the good thing is you can get them for $2 just like any cheap 510 drip tip :)
Have fun!

I bought a vaporizor today. Is steeping only important if one is using nicotine? If its been sitting in the store for a while, does that count as pre-steeped?
I am interested in adding clove, lavender, or sage for health reasons (anti-anxiety) to my juice and I know that many people use vaping for pot so this is not an original idea. Is there any advice you can give me?
Thank you!

I know they sell just flavoring juices, meaning, no nicotine, but I am guessing you mean cold-pressed or essential oils? Don't take my word for anything, this is all new to me, but, I think it depends on how thick the liquid is and what type of system you are using, maybe? I'm sure someone will answer who knows for sure.
I wanted to ask you a question about your juices - Did you purchase them at a Vape store? Like a local place?

I do as you describe here, I draw on the vape, then inhale the last little bit of vape that lingers in the tip, allowing no vape to linger in the air. Then I either hold it in long enough that when I exhale there is no vapor, or I blow it into my sleeve, or put my head down and blow it into the front of my clothing.
I did this in a team meeting the other day, I had my vape end tucked into the long arm of my cardigan, and no one was the wiser. The people I have asked about it, tell me that it just looks like I'm biting on the tip of a very fancy pen.

I don;t quite get the draw to dripping. To only put a few drops on to only get a few hits off seems like a pain to keep having to add juice. What is the real draw to dripping????

When people vape pot, they're burning it in a vaporizer, not inhaling vaporized liquid. They are two very different types of vaporizers. You should ask a dr if it's safe to directly inhale liquid lavender or sage - clove is a flavor additive that you can find on various sites that sell e-cig flavorings. I don't know if it's safe for your lungs to inhale sage, primarily - i'm pretty sure i've seen lavender, but don't know where to find the flavor. When working with e-cigs, you can't use essential oils, you need to use flavorings made expressly for use in an e-cig. Oils can damage or destroy a PV. i have over 200 flavorings and although i've seen clove, i haven't seen the other 2, so be very cautious before you take that step.
As far as steeping, without the nic the only reason to steep is to allow flavors to meld. If you try it and it tastes good to you, you don't need to steep it - that goes for fresh flavors too - some are fine immediately...steeping comes down to "does this taste right or should i let it sit for a little while."
I don;t quite get the draw to dripping. To only put a few drops on to only get a few hits off seems like a pain to keep having to add juice. What is the real draw to dripping????
It's because you get better flavor. It doesn't get dulled by being in a carto or tank, although newer tanks are OK on flavor and some are really good on keeping flavor. When I drip, it's kind of like a little time for me to be active in my vaping, kind of like when i had to light and deal with a cig. Sounds nutty, but a lot of people feel that way, lol. It's a personal choice and even with those newer, fresher taste tanks, i still like having my quiet time with my ecig and just enjoying the flavor - it's never as fresh as it is when you drip :)
Hope that explained things (including little rituals, lol) :)

Daisy already said most of what I was going to say regarding what's safe, etc. The one thing I did want to point out is the term 'vaporizor' is used for a few different products.
Most of us on here are talking about ecigs (battery to heat atomizer to vaporize e-liquid). There are products like the PAX vaporizer from Ploom that uses heat to vaporize plant material - it doesn't burn the material, but heats it.

I have 4 cartomizers of pre-loaded tobacco flavor from V4L called 555. They get a 4.5 out of 5 star rating. This is the website description of them:
"This sensory-pleasing electronic cigarette cartomizer includes our distinctive 555 e-liquid flavor blend. While your taste buds savor the complex harmony of sweet, cured tobacco and freshly harvested hazelnut, your worries will drift away with the voluminous clouds of relaxing cartomizer vapor."
I also have a spearment pre-loaded flavored cartomizer.
These are 808D threaded cartomizers.
I'm sure I won't use them. If anyone wants them, I will be glad to pop them in the snail mail for you. If you want them, just IM me and let me know.
