Blade, hey.. I'm really interested in those love stories you're reading in the Bible. Can you fill me in on where to find some of them? I've been reading my Bible daily for 30 minutes or so, just to be reading. Now I'm reading about the Maccabees and Judas Macabeus.

It's good to see you post on this thread. Keep it up, all posts are welcome.

I think it is very important to our spiritual psyche to give gratitude.

1. Living on a hobby farm and watching the lambs being born. New life is always so blessed.
2. Darling grandchildren who give me a second chance at being a better person.
3. Two grown children who love me. They don't always show it, but I know they do.
4. Living in British Columbia, one of the most beautiful places on earth.
5. Forgiving myself for everything I should have done when my mom was alive.

My family, who is actually functional, and loves me very much.
My cat Miss Kitty who just had a greeting ceremony with me after I'd been gone overnight.
My program, and knowing that it is OK not to be perfect as we strive for progress not perfection.
The sunny drive most of the 2 hour drive home.
How happy it makes me coming onto this site and knowing there are others like me, that "get" me, and "get" the butch femme dynamic.

Ok, where's everyone these days? Don't let me be the only one to post in this thread. It's always more fun when there are other posts to read.

I'm just grateful to be alive and happy to be here. I have joy in my heart today and a smile on my face. It's my birthday and God has given me a happy heart and a beautiful day. It feels good to be happy and joyful. I owe it all to God.

Everyone have a blessed day and may peace be with you.

At dinner every night, me and the kids list 5 things that made us happy that day. :)

I am grateful for:

1. A dog that loves me and is sitting on my feet as I work from home. (I love him even though he barks way too much!)

2. Making a decision to go see the tulips tomorrow with the kids. The decision alone made me smile.

3. Having a job I enjoy that allows me to work from home at times.

4. Talking to a dear friend on the phone about spirituality.

5. The way taking a deep breath feels.

Very good news on the work front today
A gorgeous sunny day
Having the technology to uncover my roots, much faster than my mum had (though she did a LOT without Internet or even computer)
Izzy, the tripod who adopted me. What a lovebug.
Homemade waffles for breakfast

(Naturally, I'm thankful every day for health, kids, etc., but I'm trying to write other items than those)

I am so grateful that today I have:

Tulips in my yard.
Children in my heart.
A house that is a home.
Laughter at myself.
And an acceptance that I'm right where I am supposed to be... today.

I'm thankful for a loving and wonderful God who has blessed me with a great job and a new life. I did not want to move back to my hometown by any means, but it has been a good experience. I have a nice home to live in and a new job and the people here are so friendly and nice. I'm thankful and grateful for everything that I have and all that I am. It feels good to be able to smile and not even know why I'm smiling.

I hope that everyone who reads this can experience joy and happiness this day and everyday. Peace be with all of you.

So grateful to be able to spend quality time with my daughter... even if it was all around a WWI essay.

Having delicious soup

Seeing a picture of me from 17 years ago (posted by a friend on facebook) and realizing that I look better now than I did then. (I've grow quite a bit to be able to think that I'm getting older and better and not just older)

A productive work meeting.

I'm so grateful that I was able to get upset at the Senate's decision, but didn't let it ruin my day or take away my joy.

Gods Blessings
Keeping my truck going until I could afford to fix it, it was not a shade tree mechanic job. I didn't know it but my water pump was already starting to leak, the timing belt was still good

Guiding my attorney who believe in Him, to make the right choices, to rattle my cage when needed and who guided me to a victory

Gods never ending, unconditional love for His sometimes lost followers

Gods watching over my Dad yet again as he had a very successful surgery Tuesday and though I never thought I'd be thankful for his orneriness, thank you God for that.

Gods blessing me with yet another trip with my parents. I know they won't be around forever and each vacation with them though sometimes trying is still always filled with precious memories.

One more...

Thank you God for giving me parents who I have always known loved and supported me, even when I was a heathen as my Daddy says. I know a time will come when I don't have them with me anymore. But the things I've learned from them will stay a life time

I'm grateful for being able to realize that I have things, people and pets and to be grateful for having them. I'm especially grateful for my friends and my pets who love me and expect nothing in return. True friendship and real love are hard to come by and I am blessed to have both. I used to not think I had anything to be grateful for and would not even think of being grateful. Life throws us twists and turns and these have made me realize I have a lot to be grateful for and I value this realization.

I'm especially grateful for my two fur kids. Sugar and Sissy give me so much love and I return the love. Unconditional love is the best and the sweetest and I'm grateful for this.

I'm grateful for my brothers and my sisters here and on facebook and here in my hometown too. I'm grateful to have some very loving, caring, and kind friends.

I'm grateful today for a cousin whom I haven't seen or spoken to in quite some time accepting a friend request on facebook that I extended some time ago.

I'm grateful for my life. I just hope that I will be able to make a difference in others lives for the better. I'm grateful for the vision and knowing that is inside me that I will make a difference and I do have a purpose. I'm grateful to know what this purpose is now.

Everyone enjoy this day and may peace be with you.

My screened porch. In the South where there are 11 mosquitoes per cubic inch of air, and you look like a karate master when you make your way to the mailbox, a screened porch is a necessity.

Feeling the air charged with energy as a very thunderous storm approaches.

My ex husband apologised for the way he has treated me this week and said he will always love me. I wish his feelings about me didn't affect me so much but they do. He's the closest family/friend I have aside from our daughter. So glad the air is cleared.

I came out to my mum today so that's a relief. She didn't say wow that's great but she didn't say eew either. I'm guessing she thinks it's just a phase but so what it's a big weight off my shoulders anyway, and I can honestly say that I don't care what she thinks, if she can't see how what's good about it, she is missing out on something, not me.

I keep crying every time anyone is nice to me which feels awful and is inconvenient but maybe it's a sign I'm letting go of the last 4 years at last and can soon start afresh.

Grateful that even though it's tough I haven't had a drink for over a year, and when I wondered yesterday about drowning my sorrows the thought of the taste of alcohol made me think eugh...

Glad that even though I have been feeling really unstable I don't need to take those gross antidepressants and the herbal remedies seem to be just about holding the beast at bay. I must be at least 40% better than I used to be so that's a major improvement and you can't unlearn what you learnt so the only way is up.

An extra long weekend that includes visits from friends and loved ones.

Having multiple vases filled with all manor of flowers and blooming things from the garden scattered about the house. An orange rose, still greenish hydrangea blooms, combined with a burgundy wood flower make a rather striking combination.

Steaks marinating for a lovely grill-fest this evening.

Going to attend the largest independent book festival in the nation this weekend. Over 300 authors, music, book as art, etc. Wheeeee!

Having my head in the clouds and leaving for a hot air balloon festival soon. Hoping to take some nice photos of the event.

My almost completed art project!

Having those you love to share all of the above. I've done the math, it really does increase the enjoyment factor!

Gratitude for:

1) My job. No other work challenges me this much or satisfies me more. Looking forward to another 15 years.
2) The people that work with me. They're the best of the best.
3) Fast thinking tech who called about "Ruby", a red point Siamese whose person brought her to the EC because she was mysteriously lethargic. Yes it's cute that Ruby will chase and eat grapes. Glad you got photos for your My Space or FB or whatever page. A dozen grapes later, Ruby's in full blown renal failure and your pictures might be the last you get. No grapes or raisins for your cat-folk. Nor your dog-folk. Nor your ferret-folk too. Unclear in hamsters, mice, rats, pot bellied pigs and rabbits because of increased inconsistency in results but why risk it? An inconsistent consequence isn't a non-existent consequence and no consequence is guaranteed reversible.
4) The smell of DKNY Be Delicious perfume on the sweater she borrowed.
5) The happy tail of "Louis" who gave me a dozen thumps or more before laying down to catch his breath. Good to see him more comfortable. A volunteer is hanging out with him until 10. Then I'll go in to spend the night with my iPad, a couple of books and a 140 lb Newfoundland with COPD and lung cancer who thinks he's a lap dog. No lie. He can have my lap if he wants. No one should miss the chance for a cuddle their last night on earth. Second hand smoke people. Think about it.

* Other foods your fur-folk should avoid besides grapes and raisens: garlic, onions, chives, chocolate, caffeine, canned tuna, raw liver, Xylitol, avocados, nuts, apple cores, smoked meat or "jerky", banana peels, fat trimmed from meat or bones, spontaneous toys made of walnut shells or the pits from fruit like peaches, raw eggs, wild mushrooms, dairy, and - because it appears to need saying - NO BOOZE

Grateful for all the people who share their hearts, minds, souls and experiences on this board without which I'd be more confused and lost than I am. I have learnt so much about how to treat people. I have gone from clueless to not exactly clued up but I think I am more understanding of good manners now. I have really blown it with the one woman I really want in my life. Maybe if I had known before what I know now I'd have done things better. Maybe with what I know now I can right this wrong one day.

I'm grateful for my women friends who love me and make me laugh. 2 who brought me surprise gifts this week.

Grateful for all the beautiful women I have loved over the years.

Grateful for this oh so sensitive barometer that is my body and the light bulb moment yesterday that in the same way bad things get in and get me down fast and hard, good things move them along just as fast and high.

Glad for my new job and such lovely staff keeping my mind on good things.

I am thankful the weather is starting to cool just a touch here in the south. The mornings and evenings spent on the porch and blissful indeed.

I am excited that this is the weekend I choose all my spring bulbs and put them in cold storage to pre-chill for planting in late October. I am thinking this year it will be deep purple tulips combined with lovely and serene white tulips. I love having something to look forward to in the spring.

I am thankful that the kiddo and I have a weekend with only one scheduled event to attend so we can have fun working on art projects and birthday and Halloween crafts.

I am looking forward to buying the fall mums and pots of asters to decorate the front entranceway of our house.

I am very thankful that I found an awesome cello instructor so the kiddo can have lessons on the side as well as her orchaestra four days a week. I feel blessed she chose this instrument over all others.

I am happy to have discovered a new poet that I adore and that I have down time this weekend to read his latest work. Feeding the soul.....

1. I am thankful for the air in my lungs. And for every day I am gifted with to breathe it in.
2. I am thankful to be able to see my wonderful children, grandchildren and all those I dearly care for. My mother went blind when I was just 9 years of age. And it is genetic so I value everything I see with new eyes everyday.
3.I am thankful for life challenges I have endured already. They have brought me to where I am today. And help me to know how very strong I can be when challenged with the unknown.
4.I am thankful for my spiritual gifts and knowledge. It has been aa director, protector and beacon in my life in all areas. And has allowed me to assist others in lifes road to lesson the hardships.
5.I am thannkful to have had such a strong bond and connection with my beautiful mamma. She dierected me even when I fought against her every move. And now that she is crossed over, her words and teachings ring true everyday. They have allowed me to be a better person, mom, grandmother, friend, student and teacher. Thank you mom for staying close, even in your transition and cross over.

Grateful!

1. For the big, evil bed that I have spent so much time in lately. Grateful for good sheets, fluffy blankets, new pillows, and the pile of orange dog that is always at the foot of it (or draped across my legs)

2. For a boss who has been super understanding and flexible during this time. Being able to take my Pops to his appointments and be there for him like I have is such a blessing and gift. My boss is a kind person, even when I want to strangle him.

3. For my friends. The bud of my world has closed ever so slightly lately but my people have stayed with me, stayed by me, and have shown me in 100 ways that I matter to them. They have shown the hell up in ways I never imagined or expected.

4. For the budding sisterhood I am finding with a few particular women. I am sweetly surprised by their spirit, their generosity, and their wicked, raucous senses of humor.

5. For Jackhammer. Who makes me cackle on an ongoing basis and demands that I call her "Superman". We are lucky, she and I, that we found each other as best friends and grew it into something amazing and lasting.

As the OP of this thread, I'd just like to mention a couple of things. This thread was brought about to reflect on your God, or higher power and what you are thankful for in this world. I've seen very little gratitude given to God or your higher power to express your gratitude.

If you'd like to post here in this thread, then simply give some gratitude. It is not a "list your 5 things you like most" thread. There are other threads to list your 5 favorite things.

Thank you.

I am very thankful to God for answered prayer and seeing this passage in action once again.

Ephesians 3:20 - Now glory be to God, who by his mighty power at work within us is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of—infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes.

If your intention was to make this thread a reflection of God/your higher power/what you are thankful for, then you should have said so in your original post.

You did not, and you have just chastised some perfectly lovely ADULTS, myself included, who were showing gratitude for things they appreciated in their lives. In fact, in one of your posts on page one you mention being thankful for your car...not all that much different than being thankful for a box of chocolate.

One of the most powerful freedoms we have is free will.

And with that comes incredible self responsibilty.

Coupled with the powerlessness of control over everything except ourselves.

Relinquishing control over life in general or specific details about someone else interpretation over our expectations can be quite painful.

So when we address our failings in the face of our personal mirror, we are admonished to "Let go, and Let God (Jesus, etc.) take over the wheel" and let go of our baser need to be grasping and in the throes of neediness. It's a hard road to travel. I trip over many boulders on my path.

Kent, since I believe all things come from the Great Oneness of All, then all the things, people, animals, rocks, plants etc. are part of that Oneness. Including clean drinking water and antibiotics and candy.

Tucked into my thoughts daily is the Grace that allows me to take each breath. There is a certain perfection to each draw into my lungs, fueling each heart beat. Surviving a heart attack and quadruple bypass surgery taking over 8 hours makes every second of every day a gift.

Don't sweat the small stuff. And it's all small stuff. So it didn't turn out the way you expected. Expectations are pre-meditated resentments, says the Big Book. Your original intent was thwarted and became large and expansive. It now draws folks from all walks of life and thought. Can you see the blessing you gave to us? The joy each of us share with you daily is our gift back to you. Having a platform to share with others of like mind is a gift. Thank you for your generous gift Kent. I for one am blessed each time I come to this thread.

Whether reading or writing, I am reminded of the Glory of the "threads" that connect us all. Our voices raised in unison. Praising. Giving thanks for our many gifts. All thanks to you.

Is that not enough for any one?

God has blessed you Brother Kent. :rrose:

2. Saliva, it’s nice when eating crackers. It comes in handy when trying to expel a bad taste from the mouth. It helps prevent cavities. It’s convenient when trying to thread a needle or remove dried spaghetti sauce from my chin, sealing envelopes and keeping that darn strand of hair in place. And it’s quite nice when smooching my lolly bean too!
