View Full Version : I am THANKFUL for...

With all of the "bad stuff" that we all face day in and day out, it's easy to lose track of all of the good things in our lives. I was told once that if we take a moment to stop and think of at least three good things that we can be thankful for on a daily basis, our moods will generally improve. For me, that starts today.

So here's what I have to offer, and I hope others will join me on this by listing their own-- and listing them regularly so we can all share in the smiles.

Try to think of at least three-- more if you're able.

I am thankful for:

Bold, fiesty femmes who tell you just how it is because butches/bois/ and transmen can be dense sometimes-- c'mon, ya know it's true!
Great coffee
The laughter of loved ones
Friends who know and see your flaws-- and love you despite them
A nation that provides resources for those who are temporarily set back or permanently disabled so no one has to suffer if they know where to look
Coconut-scented hair care products; the smell of vanilla and lavender and citrus; fresh cut grass;freshly-baked bread; the smell of a baby's skin as well as puppy and kitten breath
The ability to comprehend new ideas and thoughts and find new ways of viewing things, new perceptions
My dad-- my hero
Pajamas fresh out of the dryer, all warm and snuggly
Sarcasm-- because I don't think I'd survive this world without it
Medusa, Linus, and others who make this site-- and the possibility for making new friends and alliances-- possible

Freedom, love and coffee!

I have a lot to be thankful for including the determination I have been given to tough it out and chase after my dreams, wonderful friends, an accepting community and travel experiences that have influenced me on so many levels.

Very thankful I'm an independent, confident woman; for that I have Momma D to thank.

Very thankful that Momma D helped me (years ago) to heal and show me my worth, as well as teach me that I didn't need to accept abuse or tolerate an abusive relationship. She guided me during a very difficult, painful time of my life when my son died...it was because of her that I recovered and learned independence and confidence again.

I'm thankful and happy that I know what Home is and thankful for the important people I feel safe with to include them as part of that Home.

I'm thankful for FEELING grief as it has helped me process feelings to reach closure and peace.

I'm thankful for beautiful days and for the uplifting feeling of hope.

I am EXTREMELY THANKFUL for my medical team...even more so when I learned today that one of my specialists is an Advocate for the LGBTQ Community and is genuinely accepting and non judgemental. That I can open up to her on subjects I've never discussed with any other medical professional. In her words, she's very knowledgeable, including supporting parents in the Community and about Trans issues.

I'm thankful for the events that led me to meet this individual.

I am thankful for God's Spring masterpiece. I think this is the most beautiful Spring I can remember in years and years. The frost didn't come late enough, and the buds didn't come to early. Everything worked perfectly this year.

The wild Dogwoods are in full bloom and are beautiful. I don't remember seeing soooo many Azalea's in so many different variations all in bloom. There are every color you could imagine. I like the compact Azalea's but even the leggy ones are pretty this year.

Thank you God for the beauty of all things Spring.

I'm thankful for a job that has let me grow and now it may be that I will be promoted into a new position time will tell. I just hope it doesn't mean I have to move.

I've been very lucky with managers. I've had three different managers in the last 15 years and all of them have been great. One former manager, who no longer works at this company, is now my best friend and we're going to a concert next month. :)

Well, I had to call my manager earlier and let her know I was gonna miss a deadline because I just didn't want to work on this project (writing instructions for Windows XP users). I have made everything else a priority—including writing this posting. BTW, this isn't my modus operandi. I'm reliable and I get things done whether I have to come in on a weekend, stay late, whatever. But, not this project.

Anyway, she was so cool. She said "I get it and I'm doing the same thing—postponing work that needs to be done."

So, I'm thankful for flexible managers who "get it."

I’m thankful for the past 66 years of life: although there are many things I’d like to say I wish I never experienced, I don’t think I’d change it because it’s all those very harrowing situations and experiences in life that has sharpened my ability to discern right from wrong or who’s being honest and telling the truth. I’m grateful and thankful and feel a good deal of humility. Sometimes, it’s just better to take a seat and watch and listen. Still waters really do run deep.
