Mary Daly was in her 50's when I met her. I was the speaker wrangler for her presentation at the University of Minnesota. I was maybe 30. I flirted with her outrageously and was so thrilled just to be able to carry her notes and water. She indulged my much younger than her adoration.
Besides listening to her with rapt devotion, my favorite memory of her is right before she was going on to speak...I held her notes waiting for her to go on stage. She smiled wickedly at me and ran her finger slowly over my cleavage, took her notes and went on stage. *sigh*
I have read everyone of them several times!:bigcry::bigcry:
The Church and Second Sex
Beyond God the Father
Gyn/Ecology: The Metaethics of Radical Feminism,
Pure Lust: Elemental Feminist Philosophy,
Websters' First New Intergalactic Wickedary of the English Language," (My favorite!)
Outercourse: The Be-Dazzling Voyage
Quintessence... Realizing the Archiac Future: A Radical Elemental Feminist Manifesto,
Amazon Grace: Re-Calling the Courage to Sin Big.
All amazing books, from an Amazing person. She indulged a doe eyed, smitten young femme theologian with a flirt and was very kind to me. I wrote a poem about her and will find it using language from Wickedary.
May the fairies carry her to Avalon where young ones will meet her every need and she will walk freely among the apple blossoms.
She (Mary Daly) took great delight in castigating the "eight deadly sins of the fathers": processions, professions, possession, aggression, obsession, assimilation, elimination and fragmentation. "Laugh out loud," she urged, "at their pompous penile processions."
