how many here.......
make love with your date/gf/butch/other half......... with your pets in the bed??
or do you put them outside the bedroom and shut the door??
or do you let them stay in bed with you???
as for me........ I am a dog person..i spoil and love my critters as much as the next person..
BUT ..... for me.... there is dog time, and then there is time with my partner.
during intimate/romantic moments.
its kinda hard to stay or get in the mood when your dates dog .. HAS to be there and comes to sniff on u once in a while. that kinda just ruins it right there..

my animals are all over me, all the time. It would be impossible for me to be with anyone without them get right up there. They would need to be put in another area of the house and door closed until they learned to be cool with it because I can see them all at the door screaming at me. My animals are spoiled and demanding.

In the bed?
I have very..Possessive .. ferrets, and they just Love ankle and/or toe biting... so....they get shoved into their cage before anything happens...I really don't need to feel their whiskers on my legs, or hers whilst gettin down n dirty...let alone either one of 'em pouncing [they do have razor sharp claws] on bare butts just cuz...ehh I shut up..

Well I didnt check either box cause my old pup passed last year and she would get off the bed and go to hers when things got frisky. The new ones would prolly do the same..I think.Rowdy, the younger pup is very much my protector..Diva the older one I know would just go off somewhere.(no matter how old my dogs are they are always my pups)

Ummmm YEAH.
I would tell my date in no uncertain terms that in order for things to continue the dog/cat/ferret/bullmoose must leave the bed, or bedroom if they cannot behave themselves.
My dog goes and hides as soon as heavy breathing happens and then doesn't even show up until he hears us talking normally.

The 22 year old cat lives on her heating pad on our bed, leaving only long enough to get food or do her business. I'm not going to lock her up in some cold room somewhere, that would be cruel.

My dogs love their houses so they go to them when the bed is occupied with more than one person. They have small space bubbles.

We have many cats in our house and have never had to close them out of the bedroom. They either run when the bed starts moving or they find a spot and curl up........it's a big bed.

Honestly? When W/we're in the States, I don't even like B's dog being on the bed, let alone in the bed, regardless of what W/we're doing. It's not that I don't like animals, because I do, but if I'm uncomfortable with anyone other than U/us being on/in O/our bed - and that includes my kids - then it stands to reason that I'm going to feel the same way about animals.

Ok there are more than one issue here.. Pets in the room and pets on the bed. My pets aren't welcome on our ( my Sir's) bed, its OUR bed, they have their own. They do get a treat and get to spend a few minutes there on occasion but I can't see inviting them to my sanctuary !
If I expressed to my partner that any animal was making me uncomfortable in any way shape or form my partner would do whatever he could to fix that.. and would never chose an animal over me! I would do the same. If it every came near me while making love it would skeeve me out completely. If they sat quietly in the corner and were oblivious I wouldn't care.
My pets don't seem concerned, even during play.. they just know!
I love my animals but they are just that, animals. I love them but I love my human family more.
Animals are not human and really don't want to be treated as such.

Not going to overly derail here but sometime things get hot and heavy quickly. Sometimes planning just doesn't happen. Sometimes the animals innocently get in the way.
Also, while I understand they are animals my dogs mean more to me than anything. They are my kids and my family.
While I would be respectful towards my partners concerns sometimes a little bit of light hearted attitude is required. Everything in life is not elegantly choreographed.

this isn't about sex, but i do have to say that our dogs are in our bed every day, we have a little cuddle time in the evening before they go into the kitchen to sleep (on fresh blankets and a large bed), and when E brings me coffee in the morning sometimes he let's them all come up and wake me (if they're behaving) and i take them with me if i nap--i adore the (4) mini-beasts and i don't think i could have fallen in love with someone who didn't love dogs as much as i do.
(that said, they're only allowed to watch G rated films, especially chester who gets in enough trouble as it is.)

No animals in the bedroom ever... it's a human sanctuary. VERY occassionally Miss Fluffy Pants sneaks in when I forget to shut the door but turns and runs the minute I spot her !

Poor Kitty,

I used to have my cats on the bed - this was years ago when I had cats - but I wouldn't now. Apart from the personal space issue, as clean as cats are, there's still a risk of them leaving little reminders of their presence and it's a risk I'm not ready to take.
Sorry:(

I have allergies, so my bedroom is my pet-free zone away from the dog and two cats. They know this and the cats will sneak in sometimes, but expecting to be chased out immediately. I sleep a lot better when I can breathe and not itch like a manic chimp with eczema.
At my honey's house, she lets the dogs in the bedroom, but not on the bed, with the exception of a few times the last few weeks of her special boy's life when he was having severe separation anxiety. Her remaining dog and roommate's dog, if there, settle down on the rugs and pay us no attention unless the phone is allowed to go to the answering machine, which bothers Auggie and makes him go to the machine and howl.
I've shared a bed with small dogs (a pug and a pair of chihuahuas) in two previous relationships, and while I can deal with it, I don't like it. My allergies may kick in, but even if they don't, I don't get much sleep while sharing the bed with them and I won't have sex with them in the bed. Plus, it's just unhygenic. They have beds of their own. They don't need mine, too, and they surely don't need to supervise my nookie.

cats i have no problem with - they either leave or move over and go back to sleep and look up with mild irritation on occation. fish wouldn't be in my bed in the first place and rats wouldn't be out of the cage if I couldn't watch them.
dogs? no. not on the bed. absolutely not. I've had the displeasure of having them leap up on the bed and try to join in in some kind of way a few times with other people's pets.
Once, the rotwieler of a lover actually started growling and threatening her own owner because she thought I was being severely hurt (anti - fisting dog, methinks). I had to pat the dog on the head to calm her down and reassure while my friend removed her hand and backed off and then joined the reassurance.
so, no dogs.
rabbits just hopped off. they gave about as much of a shit as cats did.
I have yet to expereince how things like chinchillas et al react. I'm assuming they would do something similar as a rabbit?
snake in bed would be ok, if we didn't crush it.
Lady is definitely a Lesbian. I've always been grateful that I wasn't the one on top and um, accessible, when my ex and I found this out. No dogs on the bed during sex, unless they stay out of the way.
Day, you cracked me up with your literal reading of the the topic. :cheesy:

I have an elderly cat, Sophie, who is close to 19 or 20 yo. She sleeps in the winter on my bed ontop of a heating pad. I am not about to move that precious soul. Heck, I bring her food and water up to her. She is now blind, and deaf. I cannot imagine life without her.
She was my first pet, and one of my first rescue animals. So, she has my heart all wrapped around her lil paw.

Sophie,
An update...she is not doing well. In fact, I ended up taking her to the vet. She is not eating as usual. She is drinking water, just not eating. The vet said that her heart is not working the way it should. It sounds like a washing machine. I am so upset. She has lost weight, and is even more frail than she was a month ago. I am getting nervous. I cannot make a final decision. That has to come from someone else. I am wayyy too attached to her.

The dogs run to the other rooms when a whip or flogger come out, crates are good for them to cower in then, let alone when some fucking is going on... Nico on the other hand (speaking of crates) runs towards the bed when the floggers and whip come out...
Interesting....:p

Andrew, sorry to hear about Sophie. Believe me when I say, you don't want to let her suffer. If your vet thinks she is and tells you it's better to put her down, please listen. I know how hard it is. You know I just went through it recently with one (Silver) of ours. I remember when I had to do it with Buster and he was 17. Poor little guy was down to 5 pounds when I finally decided. When his back legs kept slipping out from under him, I knew what I had to do. Please be strong for Sophie because she has no way of telling you how much she hurts.

We have no problem with animals on the bed as long as they stay out of the way. The dog tends to stay on the floor next to the bed, as there's not a lot of room for both of us and all 80 lbs of him on the queen bed, sex or not. Two of the three cats have a tendency to make a run for it when the nookie starts. My girl cat, however, is strange and perverse. She loves vibrators and if she realizes one is in use, she'll come running. She thinks the only possible place for her to be laying on my chest. In that case, she'll get a shove off the bed, but not locked out of the room unless she continues to make a nuisance of herself.

Andrew, I'm so sorry for you and your kitty. One of my biggest regrets is that I waited too long to make the decision when my greyhound, Sally, was dying of osteosarcoma. Making the decision to have her put down was the hardest of my life, and she lived in pain for days longer than she needed to because I couldn't bring myself to tell the vet it was time. Sometimes what's best for them is what's hardest for us, and we have to do it anyway. She'll let you know when it's time, but you have to listen to her.

I'm so sorry to hear Sophie is poorly Andrew.
Just try keeping Her Royal Greyness the Woodipotimus out of the bedroom - she'll just scratch and head-butt the door until it's so annoying I get up to open the door.
She has been known to look in when 'stuff' is happening but generally does the usual cat thing of looking up, staring at the disturbance and then going right back to sleep.
However, I do lock the door when we're doing needles or cuttings.

My dogs know to not get ON the bed when there is any kind of "busyness" going on there, although they may wander in and out of the room. That being said..here is a funny story for y'all: When it was just me and my older dog Shadow,I had a lady over for the evening, after a long dry spell of singleness. Shadow was a good girl and curled up on the couch while we were in the bedroom. After all the ruckus died down,Shadow came in to curl up on the foot of the bed,as she always did. The lady says.."Can you please make the dog get out of the bed?" I says..."I don't even know you well enough to miss you when you are gone, she stays." Needless to say,me and Shadow had the bed all to ourselves after that!!:grindevil: Shad
