View Full Version : Maybe The Third Time Will Be The Charm
Mrs. Strutt

Hi, everyone...I'm Mrs. Strutt.
Some of you might remember me from butch-femme.com and butchfemmedance.com as Strutts Wife. I left both sites quite some time ago for personal reasons and have very much missed interacting with the bf community.
I am hoping the third time is the charm and butchfemmeplanet will prove to be a place of honor, respect, and, most of all, loving community. I look forward to renewing old acquaintances and making new friends!
Namaste :)

Welcome! The vibe of this place (so far) has been a lot closer to what you describe than the other two were, to me. I hope that will be your experience, too. :cheerleader:

Welcome!.....
People are receptive and responsive with a great emphasis on community. Also, the policies are fair, I think, without obvious politics and favoritism. I hope you'll like it here, I know I do.

Hey all! Good to see so many familiar names.
I was worried mentioning the other sites was some kinda taboo. I for one loved, loved, loved the old Butch-femme site, even some of the arguments were fun as long as there were no threats of fallacious charges. Last time I logged in it felt like everyone had left the party, I'm guessing because people were using it to harm each other. Sad because I know it meant a lot for so many of us. :wine:
Then the dance?!?! Fun for a minute, then I think management must have thought "Not on MY site" and people started getting 'nasty' public admonishments from management for the slightest dissagreement, or perceived violation. I myself was kicked off when a femme who was staying with me created a profile for herself. Just a nasty gram and !Boing! I was kinda pissed cause I had bought about a half dozen anonymous subscriptions.
So I am hopefull that this place finds some middle ground. You know what they say about she who ignores history........

Wondering if anyone know what was the BFdances' undoing? As I said I have warm memories of the old site, but the dance is a really curiousity to me.

Nope. And to me, doesn't matter. The members here are what matter most and what I concern myself more with. All the rest is interesting but more of a technological curiosity (more of a what-not-to-do or what might be interesting to add here).

You would have to ask the folks over there. The Planet was created for a fresh start and a new perspective and the site admin have been VERY successful doing that.
Take a look around and let the past go. The future's so bright! :)

Yeah that's what I mean. Was anything learned?
I already bought a subscription because I will always give financial support to venture of this kind, but investing my heart in another doomed community just doesn't feel smart. Yanno?!?!
.........maybe this isn't a conversation people want to have?

Perhaps it's the wrong thread to have it in, this thread was started by Mrs. Strutt. Perhaps you could start your own thread on why another site went belly up.

Um this isn't the way to start off with a new place dooming it when you don't know what's up, unless....
Anyways just give it a whirl.

I chose this thread ...'Third time will be a charm' because that's what the title suggested to me. An examination of the success of this third attempt in the light of the past two experiences. Corkey tell me what you think this thread is about.

It's in the newbie introduction forum for a reason. Mrs. Strutt was introducing herself to the site. Feel free to begin your own introduction thread or a thread based on comparing sites but it's not fair to hijack someone else's thread.

Gettin off to a bad start? Dooming the site? Sorry that's what your hearing form me. I am also sorry it seems I am making people feel they have to defend or protect the site. I haven't seen a flaw in it yet, really I have not a simgle critique.
I feel like I am looking for information and perhaps some thoughtful exploration from other invested witnesses.
Is this a fluff thread, because if it is (my bad) and I will digress.

I think the reason Lady Snow said that is what I've bolded in another post of yours. We welcome folks here and we welcome hard discussions but please understand that most of us that were on one or both of those other sites are here now for a reason. We like it and/or feel more comfy here. There are a plethora of reasons for that, but yes, I'd say that conversations about what went wrong at other sites, when this one is clearly different and doing very well, may not bode well. It feels like dragging other people's dirty laundry through my clean house, to me. Others may feel differently, though.
Look around. It's getting to be a pretty big site. There's room for all of us and all kinds of discussions.

I think I joined the first site around 2001 or 2.
I remember so many of the names. We are still the same people........doing the same thing.............. for the third time.
I think I will start another thread an 'Exploration' of sorts. Now if I recall correctly threads from new people about tough topics get ignored...... so let's see, what's different.
Still Jordan

Newbie introductions are meant for that: intros. We do welcome tough discussions (see the Red Zone) and we're (Angie and Jackhammer are the owner/admins; I'm just the geek; gayla, Thinker, June are forum mods with Scorp as chat mod) definitely interested in keeping this community going. We all actively take part in it in some form or another, depending on how much life intervenes.
So I do believe that you've made a sound investment. I do think, however, like a few have suggested, that the discussion may be better served in a different area. :)
