I just want to be able to live a peaceful life where I am and be happy. I guess that would be my goal for the new year, to continue this.
I wish for all my friends and family to be in good health this year!

A very Happy New Year to Everyone on The Planet and be safe out there!!

“Worldwide, more than eight-in-ten people identify with a religious group,” says a comprehensive demographic study of more than 230 countries and territories conducted by the Pew Research Center’s Forum on Religion & Public Life.
If this is true and so many people believe in god and religion, how can we be so mean to each other? So many religious people in the world, so little love.

My wish is that all the people in the world who believe in a god (which is something like 80-85% of the population), would find a loving god to devote their lives to. A god who values the existence of every human life in this world and not just one's soul in the after life. I wish for a religion that teaches it's members to value life and to live every day filled with love and wonder. I wish for a religion that does not teach people that what matters begins after death. I wish for a religion that teaches people that there is no L in God, gold is not god, humans need to stop worshiping money and start sharing and caring for each other. I wish for a religion that teaches us that the greatest sin is to pass judgement on other human beings. Since a belief in a god is such a persistent meme my wish is that all people learn to channel that need to believe in one into something good and meaningful. I wish we could learn through god how to love one another.

My goal is to learn to accept things more. To laugh louder. To love harder.

Happy New Year
everyone!

Something I am working on, daily, which will probably be something I do for me until the end of time, is staying focused on doing things for myself that adds to the quality of life I experience on a daily basis: finding a place of serenity, creating opportunities to grow and flourish, taking time for me each day to incorporate a sense of accomplishment for meeting my own needs in positive ways, to continue my own sense of wonder, to do things that will deepen my inner level of confidence, to nurture myself in loving, caring ways.

I think the answer lies in the reality. Just because someone identifies with a religious group, does not mean that they love God, as you say it.

Pagans also identify with a religion but they serve many deities.

Satanist don't love God.

I think that when people consider themselves affiliated with a religion, it is not always Christianity, Jewish, Catholicism, etc....

For years people have killed in the name of religion. Combine this with the intolerance in this country and you have a perfect recipe for disaster. There is pverty, which brings desperation. There is mental illness. So many things cause people to hate, hurt and kill others. It is not as simple as loving God.

I didn't say people had trouble loving a god. I said people have trouble loving other people. Loving a god, worshipping a god is not a problem, apparently 8 out of 10 people worldwide do it. Connecting that love to the oneness that is humanity is the problem. Loving god and treating other human beings in cruel and hateful ways does not cause any cognitive dissonance in people.

Anyways it's just my new year's wish, it doesn't mean anything to anyone but me. Just make a different wish.

So new year is approaching.

wishing you all a happy 2016.

Thanks, jools66, and the same to you.

To drive to Los Angeles from San Diego. I wanted to drive to Sedona, AZ, but other things came up in my therapy so I'm adjusting that goal. I still may make it to Sedona after I make it to Los Angeles.

To master an online platform I'm using at work to build online courses. I've made progress this year, but I"m not an expert at it. I really need to up my game on this.

Decide if I want a cat or another dog. I love both cats and dogs, have owned both, now I just need to decide which to get next.

To continue losing weight. I lost weight the first 6 months of this year, but have been on hold since then. Need to stop maintaining and get back with the program. Maybe even get a trainer.

Finish a design project I've been creating some really cool door hangers that I'm going to finally finish this year. It's a fun project I'm allowed to do at work, but I just didn't have the time to complete it this year. Looking forward to picking it up again.

To work hard and be nice.

That's if for now. Thanks for asking, jools66.

Wishing everyone a super awesome and super safe 2016!
May all your dreams and aspirations come true.

As for myself, there are a few things I want/need to accomplish.
They aren't just set for the new year but I figure why not attempt
to get these things completed.

Shave some time off of my bachelors degree
by going to school during the summer.

The Cure concert May 2016!
I about fell over when I found this out!

Finish and publish my 2nd book.

Learn how to cook greek/middle eastern foods.

Learn how to properly make Turkish coffee HAHA

To enjoy life more, and not feel guilty about
having lazy days when I want to do absolutely nothing :P

These are only a few things. I have a laundry list!

My New Years wishes and goals....

I wish my family has every one of their wishes come true

I wish that everyone of us has the best year yet.

I wish that Trump fails in his bid for the Presidency

My goals....

To finally get my motorcycle license and a motorcycle

To buy that land that I have been eying forever

To find the perfect boat and camper for those weekends away

To finally get back on track since I feel really good about me again

To enjoy a vacation with the kids and their families

To regain my health that I have ignored for a while now and, possibly, gain some weight in the appropriate places.

To pay off all the debt that accumulated due to the divorce.

Things I will do.....

I will make a point to do something nice for someone every chance I get

Get back into my business, with my own clients (lol... get your mind out of the gutter)

I will not miss a Pagan celebration - no excuses

I will re-connect with friends that I fell out of touch with before, during and after the divorce.

I will live a bit more, love a lot more and be the best person I can be.

i wish all the people i love (and have loved) all the happiness that i know life can bring.

i wish that the goodness people have in their hearts will still shine brightly in the world instead of evil and misguided judgments.

my goal is that i can help people as much as i can, no matter how big or small the requirement.

to go even further to understanding people and by doing this hopefully become a better version of my already self.
Life is for learning.

there are many other wishes and goals i have, these are just a few.

As I look back on last year, I realize that life is and can be very unpredictable . We find love and we loose love. Family and friends can leave us at anytime. Life is precious. How we spend our days, will be my wish to you all. Make every day count. Find the good, the smile, the giggle.
One day at a time is what I can control. So for 2016, I will continue to be the Pollyanna, that my Mother reminds me of!

One thing I need to do is work on my health, having had to deal with my goofy knee and back issues have made it hard to be a s fit a s I should be I need to stop using this as a reason not to make a better effort to be in better health and more fit. It would be nice to make a bit more cash on hand but if its mint to be it will happen...or not. I will keep the world around me as peaceful and stress free as possible. I will pray for world peace then hope it happends.

Increase the amount of time I spend doing things that bring me joy and decrease the amount of time I spend doing things that suck joy from me.

Let go of things not serving me.

Help my kid get through her last year of high school and focus on what she wants next- even though this blows my mind.

Work out some work kinks for a successful year ahead.

I wish all of BFP a very Happy New Year!

As for me:

Of course, attend to my health and keep losing weight
Go back to Canada for more research
Organize my home office
In fact, organize my home better
Take the steps to advance my career (community college vs. high school)
Finish my book
Pay more mind to my spirituality (to begin with: a retreat in January)

My goals are simple:

My personal goals for the year ahead begin with making sure that I continue to do the things that bring happiness and peace into my life while also doing my best to have kindness and civility towards others, regardless of how I may feel about the situation at the time.

Next is my physical health. It is my intention to drop some weight, but the main thing I want is to replace some lost muscle, strengthen my core and build endurance. I began this today by going to the gym and working out for an hour.

I intend to continue with my efforts of minimizing & downsizing. Otherwise, I will attempt to continue to move forward in a positive and healthy manner on my journey through this life.

To drive to Los Angeles from San Diego. I wanted to drive to Sedona, AZ, but other things came up in my therapy so I'm adjusting that goal. I still may make it to Sedona after I make it to Los Angeles.

I didin't make it to LA, but I did travel the same distance by going to PRIDE in Palms Springs. So, this goal is met.

To master an online platform I'm using at work to build online courses. I've made progress this year, but I"m not an expert at it. I really need to up my game on this.

I met this goal and have aced this platform. In November I built 15 online courses in less than one month without assistance from anyone and with less than 5% errors. I had to work on Thanksgiving and was putting in some crazy ass hours, but I met my deadline.

Decide if I want a cat or another dog. I love both cats and dogs, have owned both, now I just need to decide which to get next.

Yeah, I'm still pussyfootin' around on getting a pet.

To continue losing weight. I lost weight the first 6 months of this year, but have been on hold since then. Need to stop maintaining and get back with the program. Maybe even get a trainer.

Yeah, not only did I not lose weight but I've gained some pounds.

Finish a design project I've been creating some really cool door hangers that I'm going to finally finish this year. It's a fun project I'm allowed to do at work, but I just didn't have the time to complete it this year. Looking forward to picking it up again.

Yeah, this didn't happen. I didn't have any fun projects this year. So this is going on the 2017 goal list.

To work hard and be nice.

I worked very hard and was pretty nice to most folk.

I might come back to this after I think about next year's goals.

Totally forgot these were my statements last New Year! I am proud to say that I accomplished all of this! Although the whole letting go of things not serving me will be a lifelong challenge/lifestyle to maintain.

I killed it on goal one of spending more time on joy- had a lot of fun good times this year.

My kid finished school a year early and has been in community college and is sending in her applications for four year college.

I have a new job starting next week that meets my wants and needs on many levels.

Now to think up for the year ahead...

Being more humble.

Being more grateful.

My wishes:

That we all somehow stay safe and survive Trump and the Republican horror show.

That everyone I love and care about has a happy and healthy year full of love, kindness and adventure. And me too!

Goals:

Get back to working on eating healthy and being fit. I totally fell off the wagon in 2016 and didn't lift weights a single time. Back to eating healthy, lifting weights and getting cardio on a regular basis.

Up my writing game - both paid and unpaid. I really want to get some fiction writing done this year, get higher level paid jobs and I also want to venture into doing some political writing, which I'm so grateful my girlfriend is encouraging me to do.

Expand my business - to make myself more financially secure to do the things I want to do and survive Trumpcopalypse.

Fight Trump and the Republicans with every fiber of my being - I am not sure what exactly but I will do something every chance I get.

Start playing my guitar again.

Travel and spend as much time as I can with my amazing girl. :heartbeat:

My personal goals for the year ahead begin with making sure that I continue to do the things that bring happiness and peace into my life while also doing my best to have kindness and civility towards others, regardless of how I may feel about the situation at the time.

I feel that I've done well with this and will continue to strive forward with this goal.

Next is my physical health. It is my intention to drop some weight, but the main thing I want is to replace some lost muscle, strengthen my core and build endurance. I began this today by going to the gym and working out for an hour.

FAIL! Lol! I did not do so well with this goal in 2016. Mind you, I did not gain any weight, nor did I lose any. My gym visits were far and few in between. Too many start and stops for any success to happen. All I can do about it now is try again this year. I've already gotten a good 4 day start on laying off the unhealthy carbs and sticking to foods I know work best for me. What's important to me is that I am happy and okay with making mistakes, knowing that I will learn from them. :)

I intend to continue with my efforts of minimizing & downsizing. Otherwise, I will attempt to continue to move forward in a positive and healthy manner on my journey through this life.

Much has been accomplished with minimizing and downsizing. In fact, I have the last 3 boxes of clothes packed up and waiting for the Veterans donation place to call me on Monday to set a scheduled pick up. I have also done much work on moving forward in a positive manner.

For 2017 I hope that we all practice kindness and acceptance for others; likewise that each of us find good health and joy.

For myself I will continue to strive for success in all of my endeavors, accepting fails as they come, learn from them, and then try again. My big goal this year has to do with Fear and not letting it win, at any point, in my life.

I wish each and everyone of you a healthy, joyful and prosperous new year!

I've been thinking about the New Year. Normally I like to have goals. The social worker in me likes them to be measurable and realistic. But so far I just have sort of a mantra or a theme for the year.

Balance and consistency.

These are two things that I'm not particularly good at - I have a little bit of ADHD and a bit of an addictive personality so I tend to focus all my energy on one or two things at a time and then refocus something else. When I do that I forget areas of my life that need tending to - often those neglected areas are the ones that involve self care.

I have been meditating most nights. I have worked my way up to about 20 minutes a day although I have to admit that some days I stopped before the 20 minutes was up.

I have really noticed that it helps me stay calmer during the day and more focused.

My biggest wish is to see justice served to the current person occupying the WH, and to see all their followers get the comeuppance they deserve. So that the social message they receive loud and clear is that cheaters, liars and manipulators deserve no reward for their behavioral choices that hurt others.

My main goal is to stay on my financial plan. It's a 3 year plan but if I get lucky with hours and get some good bonuses in, I could reduce that down to 2.5 years.

My wish is that my paperwork for the medical program I applied to goes through and I can start the treatments before the end of the year and January at the latest.

I don't really do New Years goals but for 2020 all I want is for my shoulder to be 100% again.

I am blessed with a great life and good health so I think that is all that I could ask for.

We have to get out of this one-horse town. No movie theatre or any other entertainment.

I haven't been out of the apartment except for doctor's appointments and one trip to the grocery since October 2018. I am going crazy, afraid I'm getting a little agoraphobic.

We need to move back to a city where there are things to do and places to go. Before my Partner's sister stranded us here, we lived in Albuquerque. Before that I was a traveling RN, taking contracts around the country. Now disabled, I don't know what to do with myself now.

-Start a gratitude list and every day write down at least one thing I'm thankful for.

-Keep a baby book for my grandson since daughter-in law doesn't plan to do that.

-Spend time playing laser tag or engaging Monte in some other form of exercise at least three times a week.

I plan to take Tai Chi this year. I have wanted to do that for years now. I want to work on my balance, posture, and my center of gravity. My natural healer agrees that it will be good for my health.

I’ll be happy if 2020 is as good to me as 2019. I had a few rough days (damaging a tendon, nerve, and artery was probably the worst of 2019 for me), but I was able to overcame most obstacles personally and professionally.

So my wish for 2020 is to overcome, with success, any hardships or obstacles that are bound to pop up.

Not only are we going into a new year but a brand spanking new decade as well, so this New Year feels filled with a bit more positivity and hope than recent New Years. I have some loosely imagined goals but I want them to occur as naturally and organically as possible so that they will be more likely to stick. I have recently started to make some changes that are already delivering results in some aspects of my life, which makes me happy.

I guess I don't have any goals. The story of my life. Lots of wishes but no goals. Sometimes I think maybe I should wish for goals. But I hesitate because I'm not sure I understand the dangers and complexities that come with being goal oriented. Anyway there is little chance of that ever happening for me. I'd be better served worrying about something that could happen. I'll stick with wishes, I'm more familiar with those.

I wish for peace and loving compassion for myself and for all others. The world appears to be entering a difficult period for human beings. Without caring and watching out for each other the future will be grim. Humans tend to close up tight in an attempt to protect themselves and they build walls instead of bridges. They find enemies to focus blame and hate on when things get difficult. They reach out with greed and selfishness instead of a helping hand and grab with both hands whatever they can for themselves. I doubt the human race will survive with that kind of strategy.

My wishes and goals for 2021 will be to meet some new friends and perhaps a new relationship. To not spend another year alone at my birthday, Xmas and New Years. I look forward to getting rid of this depression and start a new year with more hope and happiness of which I am sorely lacking right now.

I wish that they could stop this virus that has taken so many lives and gave much sorrow to so many families and friends. The vaccination will help but not soon enough for so many around the world. I wish a better new year for all folks, those that have been touched and those who haven't. Keep safe and well and remember each moment is precious in your life. Hold tight to all that you love and let them know how much each day.
