View Full Version : Lady GaGa was Robbed!

Last night, at the Grammys. She was robbed. I think she is one of the most original performers in decades and has the pipes, the REAL voice without all of the synth and reverb, to prove it.

I completely agree with you on this one! That damn Taylor Swift canNOT sing!! My ears were bleeding when she was singing her little montage of songs...poor Stevie Nicks...how could they do that to her?!
I love me some Lady Gaga!!
If You know me at all, You know I am NOT a Taylor Swift fan with her nasally, silly, teenie~bopper voice............when I heard her with Stevie Nicks, my jaw dropped. It was so God~awful.
That she won Album of the Year is a travesty.
Lady Gaga took me a while, I must say. But what I do when I see someone like that is close my eyes and listen. And her voice ~ as Medusa said ~ is REAL. And her clothing is just icing.
Here's the good thing....as a voice teacher.....that little, tiny~whiney, unsupported voice of Taylor's will fade soon ~ there is no support to it. Lady Gaga? She'll be with us for quite some time.

Jack has been trying to get me to like Taylor Swift for a while.
I have hated her pretty much since she first started making music. Her voice reminds me of scared little teen girls standing at microphones at school talent shoes. All warble, nasal, and closed mouthed.
:americanIdol:
Still, I GET why people like her. She has a sweetness about her, something untouched, and she plays guitar! I even like some of her songs but her live singing voice is fucking PAINFUL.
Its like she struggles to sing over the other guitars and drums around her.
When I saw Stevie Nicks singing backup with Taylor Swift, I viewed it as a sign of the Apocalypse. Ooooh, off to find the apocalypse thread.

Taylor Swift is starting to get on my nerves now.
First Beyonce and now Lady GaGa.
She better not walk down any dark alleys.

I agree. I love Gaga and I said to the boi (about Taylor's voice), wow she always sounds like a kid. Hys response is she is kid...the voice is weak but she had a hot guitar. LOL
Gaga and Elton John rocked!
I saw Lady GaGa on SNL a few months ago. She was pretty good!
I like singers who can sound just as good live as they do recorded. I recently saw Boys II Men performing on one of those reality tv shows and I was thinking the un-tapped talent was so much better than they were.
Taylor Swift needs to learn to sing properly (i.e. use her diaphragm muscles) so her pitch isn't flat. I'm surprised she got Album of the Year. I didn't watch much of the Grammy's (it's not my cuppa), but heard Stevie Nicks was playing back-up for Taylor. WTF!? That's just backwards if you ask me.

The one thing I love about Lady Gaga is that she loves her gays and is not afraid to thank them for their support or to dedicate whatever award she is winning, to her gays!
I think Taylor is so popular because she is so clean and school girlish...and not in the catholic school girl britney kind of way! She really tries to stay grounded and real. For me, she is all too goody goody...I like a little edge, or at least a good beat to dance to!
All of the moms on my FB page (that I went to school with) were all bitching about Beyonce grabbing herself and how they love that cute little Taylor Swift....GAG! Give me Beyonce ANY day over Taylor! I like 'em a little dirty! :winky:
I actually find her "fresh~as~a~daisy-ness" refreshing.....she's not the worldly type.
It's about the singing. The Grammy's are for music....not for preciousness.

I think she won 2 awards last night, but I was hoping she would win one on air...
She won for best dance recording & best dance album or something or another.
It's the awards they pass out before the show begins.

I was shocked to see Stevie Nicks singing backup for Taylor Swift. That to me is like oil and water being mixed. Swift still lives with her parents. Oy. A billionaire-ous (sp?) and living at home. It makes no sense. She has no responsibility. :badscore:
I love Lady Gaga. I think her opening with Sir Elton John was awesome. That just was beyond fabulous. I really enjoy my Lady Gaga. She is truely a gem! :LGBTQFlag:
I also loved Pink's solo on the acrobat rope thingy. Stunning. :musicnote:

Precisely.
I have nothing against Taylor Swift ... I mean, she has a good recording voice, and even reminds me of one of my nieces...
however ....
I didn't think she was better than Beyonce - and I certainly don't think she should have topped Lady Ga Ga.

I LOVE me some Lady GaGa! I love how theatrical she is. But, I must admit, my favorite is when she is just sitting at a piano singing. She has such power in her voice ~ Fuckin' fabulous!

This is exactly what I have been talking about today with my colleagues. She has pitch issues, she is off key, she is often flat. I get that she can play guitar and has that American Girl, sweet innocence about her.
But she is not a "singer".
And Album of the Year? Beating out Beyonce and Dave Matthews? Ugh.
And the worst part...what was Stevie Nicks thinking? It was the most excruciating thing to watch Taylor sing so badly and then Stevie Nicks with a tamourine and back-up vocals. No one, except Stevie Nicks, should EVER sing Rhiannon. Ever.

I admire that Taylor Swift writes her own songs and seems down to earth, gracious and mature for her age. Very nice. But she can't sing!!! She is young, blonde and thin.
Bring on Stevie Nicks (I've only had a mad crush on her for about 30 years and she is as hot as ever), Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Pink!

Andrew, I respectfully disagree about Taylor living at home being an issue. I think it's great! Think of all the young girls who get a little bit of fame under their belt (Britney) and the unhealthy things that they do (Britney) because of it, like...oh, Britney? lol

I agree, Bully. Swift is a MUCH better songwriter than a performer.
I saw Lady Gaga on Oprah. I'd liked her music before that but I started to like HER, as a person, and I began to respect her performance art type quality more then. I still think she goes WAY over the edge some times, but I enjoy her much more now than before that show and I also think she was robbed.

I have to say that one of my favorite performances was Pink! And no, not because of her outfit!! I loved the song she sang, then when she spun that water all over the people in their formal attire.....AND was still singing, not missing a note....WoW!
I haven't always been a huge Pink fan, but that song was da bomb!
I wasn't really fond of Beyonce's performance, as I think all the soldiers were really kind of pointless, the song she sang in the middle was mediocre, and I was disappointed she didn't do more dancing instead of crawling around on stage. She looked gorgeous the rest of the night! Who was that little boy wiht Jay-Z?

Whoever came up with the idea that Taylor and Stevie Nicks should sing together should be fired! And Stevie Nicks playing backup to Taylor Swift???? What has the world come too???? Taylor just isn't all that but to make it worse she was flat and off key. The whole thing reminded me of a stick of dynomite and a cap gun. I don't think anyone was really awed with Taylor's off-key 'pop'.
But.... Elton John with Lady Gaga - brilliant!!!!!! And they sang together beautifully!!!

Everytime I see Pink on TV...I say to myself, "Please be gay, please be gay. Hell I'll even turn butch for you, ya sexy thang". LMAOOOO
I really can't add anything but my agreement. Pink is incredible. Lady Gaga and Elton John were amazing. Taylor seems like a nice young woman, and I'm impressed with her ambition and talent (writing, producing, directing...she does it all). I am not a fan of her songs--I find the themes and the tone of her voice to be insipid. I had to leave the room for the duet. It was utterly painful. I was also hoping for a little more from the MJ tribute--the singing was amazing. We had our 3-D glasses on (really!) but we didn't see anything, even with HD. And, finally, Stephen Colbert added nothing to the evening, in my opinion. And, there you have it. ;) :guitar:

She was photographed in some naughty shots with some girls (different girls at separate times) and rumored to be bisexual before she and Cory married.

Maybe......
Either way, I think she's freakin' fantastic!

Ambition, yes. I hope she gets a bit more into acting. I saw her on CSI and she's in that movie with about 400 other celebrities coming out soon (the name escapes me). She was actually pretty good in the CDI episode. Maybe she'll concentrate more on acting and songwriting in the future.

:superfunny:
I read through into the third page here, looking for "HOW" she was robbed - her jewelry, money, GOLD FLECKED GLITTER picked off of her - was she thumped or not!?
I tell ya, I'm not all here today!
I think the opening of the show was great - and her outfit! (Had to have a good waxin' there, eh?!) The match up with Elton was PERFECT! It was like fraternal (or even identical?) twins! Did anyone notice that the network did a black box out over her breast area on the one side piano shot. My regular (local?) network did this. (Of course, I might have been hallucinating!) :seeingstars:
I think the PINK performance was the best I've ever seen on any of these award shows. And there have been some good ones over the years. Unbelievable. The human carousel over her and then, YES... the water. Hot. I was watching with someone "on the phone", and I said, "that robe outfit is coming OFF and when it DID!?(&$#&$), and she went into that sheet craddle... and was lifted up! :thud: And her singing, it was a perfect performance - and being live and all. She's got GUTS, that one!! Woot!!!!!!__
I think with T. Swift... she is a very wonderful personality and it is a different genre and singing style. However, she was very nervous and completely OFF that first song and it was awful with her and Stevie together. I felt embarrassed for both of them. However, I also was waiting for Kanye to run up to the stage dressed up in maybe a Lady GaGa-like outfit/disguise and grab her mike and thump Nicks with it - or some damn wild thing?! So, if I thought that, I can only imagine what the hell was going through HER mind! And to do THAT particular [first] song, with Stevie backing up. She probably streaked her panties a bit.
They blended better, thank GOODNESS on the second song. (Bully I have a little crush on Stevie too, better move over buddy! ;))
Beyonce grabbing her crotch! :overreaction: (Anyone feel Michael's presence right there?!) I wonder what Rosanne Barr had to say about that!? Well, Beyonce didn't spit though, I don't think...?
Wild dynamic set wasn't it? I really liked the change up... to more modern. We were due for that.
And yeah, what the heck was Colbert doing there anyway? He could have been funny at least... maybe.

I could not agree more. Her talent is amazing across the boards - her voice, her composition, her choreography, everything that goes into a Gaga performance. Yes, she was robbed this year - but she's going to be around for many years to come - I suspect she has many grammys in her future.

And how could I forget to mention her wardrobe. Some folks can't pull off the wild thing - she OWNS the wild thing. And one last thing, I love that she plays piano sometimes as part of the show. That's all, unless I think of more.
Off to go gaga over Gaga...

I have to agree with all of the love going out to Pink and Lady Gaga :D
I've always loved Pink (talk about HOT) and I've always been gaga over Lady Gaga *drool*
And I know that I won't be the most popular person here for this opinion, but I won't deny that I adore Taylor Swift

It's not that liking Taylor Swift is unpopular. She won four Grammies. I could see or even two of them. She deserves that; she's good at most of what she does. She's not FOUR Grammies worth of good is what I am saying. One for Beyonce and one for Lady Gaga would have made me perfectly content.

I think Taylor has definitely improved as she's aged. Her song writing has always been better than her vocals but her vocals are getting better now that her voice is fully developed.
Getting back to the heart of the thread, YES. Lady Gaga totally got robbed at the Oscars.
