The Super Bowl is this Sunday. Tell us if the Colts or the Saints are going to win and perhaps you'd like to share what kind of snacks you'll be chowing down on or maybe you are not watching the game at all. Please share your Sunday plans and participate in this meaningless poll if you'd like!!!
Since the Steelers aren't in it I hope the Saints win and I don't plan on making any special snacks as of yet..........

I loathe football and everything it stands for. I hate the noise of it, how long it lasts, the idiotic rules and the over-accentuated uniforms they use to make their packages look like they belong on a baby elephant.
That's purposeful you know. Not accidental. Just like the 4' wide shoulders.
Oh. Hi, Ezee.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
I can't rep you for this but I can laugh my ass off while I finish my workout!!!

I don't really watch much other than UT football (Hook 'em Horns!).....
But there's just something about the Saints.....I'm pulling for them to win just for the spirit of NOLA.....they need this win, I'm thinkin'......it would be way cool!

I hate football!
I do, however, love watching them do the hut-hut thing where it looks like they are all sniffing each others butts. I also like some of the commercials (however sexist some of them may be) and I dig any reason to eat cheese in copious amounts.
I dont think Ive ever watched a Superbowl to be honest but I do remember the year that Janet had her unfortunate "wardrobe malfunction" and am still amused by the way they tried to play it off with bullshit.
I mean, come ON.

Bob, I am a football purist. I happen to be of the belief that cheerleaders, despite their attractiveness have no business in football. Especially since they really are just plastic and rubber hip hop dancers. Go Saints.

Doesn't matter, I'm not a fan of either team - but if I HAD to pick one - I suppose it would be the Saints. Maybe the Colts. No, no... Saints. Yeah them.
No plans on watching the game either - for no reason other than I have better things to do on Sunday.

Interesting. How do you define 'purism'? My researches indicate that the cheerleading/football symbiosis dates back to 1898.
("Princeton graduate Thomas Peebles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Peebles) introduced the idea of organized crowds cheering at football games to the University of Minnesota (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minnesota_Golden_Gophers_Spirit_Squads). However, it was not until 1898 that University of Minnesota (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minnesota_Golden_Gophers_Spirit_Squads) student Johnny Campbell directed a crowd in cheering "Rah, Rah, Rah! Sku-u-mar, Hoo-Rah! Hoo-Rah! Varsity! Varsity! Varsity, Minn-e-So-Tah!”, making Campbell the very first cheerleader and November 2, 1898 the official birth date of organized cheerleading."-see 'Cheerleading' at Wikipedia.)
The game we currently known as (American/gridiron) football did not appear until 1892. (See "Walter Camp" ('Father of American Football') entry at Wikipedia.)
So by purism I assume you mean you're a fan of the game as played between 1892-1898? :bolt:

The Saints have to play much better than they did against MN for that to happen because from where I was sitting, if Brett hadn't been intercepted, the game wouldn't have gone into OT. I didn't see spectacular from the Saints in that game and I wanted it.

I must clarify. I compared today's NFL cheerleaders to hip hop dancers. I was wrong I think they are actually more like strippers. Dancers and strippers are fine. I just don't think they have anything to do with the game as basic as I would like it to be. If you have to have cheerleaders how about the ones like Will Ferrell and Shari Oteri on SNL?? They are great and far more entertaining.
I know the NFL is all about money and flesh sells, so there you have it. I would be remiss if I didn't mention not all teams in the NFL have cheerleaders though. Maybe it has to do with a teams's history of poor ticket sales?
I would rather watch the game the way it was made to be played. Less gear, no indoor stadiums, real grass, all the elements and intangables. Who cares if it's too foggy, muddy, rainy, windy to see the ball--destroy the competition! Players hurt??? Tape an asprin on the injury and go back in!!! Decapitate and mame whenever possible. Blood sport.
That is all I think.

Here is a link to protest the Tebow ads during the SB.
http://act.credoaction.com/campaign/superbowl_focus/?rc=fb_share1
Example of protest message-
"I demand that you follow through on your 'no advocacy' policy in reference to your approval of Focus on the Family's Tim Tebow spot for this year's Super Bowl. If you insist that ads must not be advocacy -- and have rejected progressive ads in the past because of their advocacy -- you must reverse your decision and reject the Focus on the Family ad."

wow what's up with all the haters here? lol For those of you who hate football - try the puppy bowl on animal planet. I heard it was adorable (unless you're a puppy hater too :| )
I'm a Titans fan so I had to root for the Packers and then I rooted for Favre- I mean Minnesota and well now I'm rooting for the Saints. I do think they'll win IF they play for four quarters.
As for snacks I've pre ordered about 150 wings, slaw n beans. I think someone is bringing some smoky joes and another is bringing meatballs. Chips n dip. Another is bringing desserts. Should be a good time with the group that's coming over.

As inspiring as the Saints have been this year.. I am a diehard Colts fan. Well, I am a super dooooooooper extra fancy Steelers fan, but in their absence, I am a Colts Fan.
I don't think the Saints have enough sticktoitiveness to last the entire 4 quarters. Just saying.

Football is a religion to me. College, Professional. I am dead to the world between Sept and Feb every year because I watch every game I can.
Sadly or Happily depending on perspective, since the SF Bay Area lost its dynasty football team all I really want to see is a damn good game!
That being said, I fear a serious ass whoopin coming on. I will be rooting for the Saints.....to at least make it a good game. Either way I will be sad because this is the last game for 6 months or so...

GEAUX Saints!! (But I am a long time Steelers fan).
I am watching the Super Bowl even if CBS puts those anti-choice & gay ads on. But, I sent a protest email in. Makes me mad that this has even come up. I like football and especially getting together with friends to root and watch. Been thinkinh a lot about the fact that so many people have had a rough economic couple of years and the SB might be a time for them to just let the stress go and be with family/friends and just take a day off of worry, etc. I'm also hoping that no matter if they win or not, that New Orleans gets a boost in its economy from the SB.
No matter who y'all are for, I hope you have a great SB Sunday and enjoy yourselves!
:rainsing: I really like wet, cold, and muddy games.... that's football to me....but guess that won't happen Sunday...

That was a pretty good darn game.
I just "nearly" missed winning $500.00 on a queer football pool - right at the end of the game. DAG!!!!
__
I was supposed to be in Pittsburgh this weekend for the annual [queer NFL club that I belong to there] Super Bowl party - that is very nice and takes over a club/bar there privately and provides all food and beverages, etc... (and maybe a little extra "betting"...?)
However, Pittsburgh got nailed with snow so badly yesterday, that I couldn't get into where I needed to. Usually, it is the other way around for these parties there... Sometimes, I can't get out of MY area to go and visit my friends there and to go to this party!
I hope you all had FUN at the party! (And all parties everywhere!!) I missed being with folks I have known for years for this event!!!
__
So, I'm happy for N.O. I didn't care too much "going in" either way, but throughout the game steadily gained support for the Saints.
(FIRST TIME EVER WINNING the SUPER BOWL FOR THEM!!! :cheer::clap::happyjump:)
And very good, still... "post Katrina" rebuilding - for they needed this! I'm happy for them and The French Quarters... !!?? Mmmmmmmmmmmmm... I'd give a kick and a half to be there right now! Wooo-Hooooo!!!!!! (Who are you?!!!!!!)

Focus on the Family Ad featured Pam Tebow. She had Timmy Tebow, the Heisman Trophy Winner, and Univ. of Florida star QB. It was such a weak ad, I didn't even know this was the pro-life ad. No clue. I really just thought it was about her son winning the H.Trophy, and being hyperactive.
